Zodus, a behavioural science start up, is looking to test their problem-solving game and is looking for Mumsnetters who are 45+ to test the simulation game. The testing will involve playing a minimum of 5 and maximum of 10 rounds of the game (each round takes 2-3 minutes) 5 times over a 2 month period. You will not have to play all rounds in one session, you can resume at any time during the test period. In total, it will take about 2 hours of your time (over the 2 month period).

Here’s what Zodus has to say: “FutureSpace is a gamified simulation that captures decision-making in problems similar to retirement. FutureSpace invites players to set goals and then challenges achievements of these with different scenarios of news, events and opportunities. Zodus’ ambition is to help organisations design policies, products and services that work with the grain of human nature.”

If you’re selected, you will be sent a link to the game and will be asked to complete a minimum of 25 rounds over the course of a 2 month period. We will also send you detailed instructions. There will be no feedback thread on Mumsnet.

MNers who meet the minimum requirement of 5 rounds in each test will receive a £20 voucher and will also be entered into a prize draw and one person will receive a £300 voucher of their choice (from a list).

Please sign up here if you’d like to take part.

Thanks and good luck!

hi,

I trust them because I don't believe mumsnet would be working with them if it wasn't a genuine test of the game.

I personally do not have any issues sharing the data I have provided, it is my decision to share that knowledge.

We were assured at the beginning that the data would be safe, and I trust that. if it was later found to be have been misused i would have no qualms in raising an issue.

For reference my DH is GDPR protection officer trained.

Again, I believe it is a personal choice whether to share personal data

Rupeomatic · 16/01/2019 14:02

I do wish I hadn't answered all their questions (they did seem pretty intrusive but just did it without properly thinking about it).

The game is ridiculous and just seems completely random. I wonder whether they are testing just how long we would continue with this pointless exercise before giving up (perhaps equivalent to how long one might continue paying into an underperforming pension before giving up? I don't know).

I did sort of wonder that too. Nothing I did seemed to make a difference to the game's outcome. Doing nothing seemed the best strategy.

Hi all,

Thanks for your comments on this - we're talking to Zodus about this at the moment - we'll be sending an email with an update over the next day or so.

I can't remember from one game to the next what my "scores" were so it's difficult to know how to improve.

greenlanes · 16/01/2019 21:19

thank god I cant even manage to log on. But just to say regarding how careful they are with data - they have mispelled the user name I sent. Not very professional!

Pandasarecute · 16/01/2019 22:45

I get an error message when trying to log in so you all got further than me !!

Flapdoodles · 17/01/2019 00:02

I tried this game this evening and wish I had come on here first and seen the messages. I was not exactly truthful in my responses to their questions, they are far too intrusive in my opinion. I am also struggling with the game, I was randomly choosing things and really cannot see what this has to do with retirement.

Jinglebells99 · 17/01/2019 09:40

First they gave me a different user name to the one I’d submitted, and then I emailed again to say I wasn’t happy with the personal nature of the questions, linking to my postcode too. Really unhappy with this and pissed off that Mumsnet are working with a company which seem to be interested in personal financial data. The so called game is rubbish too 😡

Unless he works for them, I'm struggling to see the relevance of that Grin

snowplop · 17/01/2019 10:30

I came here after getting halfway through the questions. I'm just not comfortable giving so much personal information. I thought this would be a fun thing to do but I'm left feeling a bit exposed and worried. Baffled by the game instructions too!

dancingthroughthedark · 17/01/2019 10:34

Glad it wasn't just me then! It's far too intrusive and I too abandoned it mid questions.

aristocat · 17/01/2019 17:51

I can't access the game.

Apparently it's not mobile friendly and when I try on the laptop the next button isn't active Sad

EggysMom · 17/01/2019 18:21

Well, I've received the email with assurances regarding the data.

But it still doesn't explain how flying a spacecraft can indicate my financial inclinations; nor does it tell me how to actually play the game!

In the words of the dragons, I'm oot.

Jinglebells99 · 17/01/2019 19:12

I’m perplexed as to how giving my postcode and very intrusive financial data, how can that be anonymous?

eliope · 17/01/2019 19:45

Glad I found you, not too sure I like the questions either but I couldn't submit them because a small box kept coming up with input number. No matter what I did it wouldn't let me submit.

SouthWestmom · 17/01/2019 22:04

Aaaargh this is useless. The thing won't work on my phone or my laptop. Tried two browsers - cursors keep disappearing or just not working.

Pandasarecute · 20/01/2019 07:12

I can now log in, but not play the game on my ipad? Anyone managed to access this on an iPad?

VeganCow · 20/01/2019 23:40

Won’t work on my phone or my desktop pc. I click and nothing happens. Now reading about the intrusive questions makes me doubt the whole thing, also thought the game would be relevant, how can a space invaders thingy be relevant?

SouthWestmom · 21/01/2019 07:21

@JustineBMumsnet I'm really sorry but I've tried this on two platforms and neither work. I can't access the game on my iPhone and the cursor doesn't appear on my laptop in the game - to press'next'. I've tried changing settings and compatibility view etc. I'm going to bow out, sorry.

Those of you who are happy to give away your data to a company you know nowt about - would you kindly PM me your name, account number, sort code, passwords and names of your pet and a place that is special to you. I am on Mumsnet and am therefore completely trustworthy.

aristocat · 21/01/2019 17:51

I can't play the game either. Tried on laptop and mobile more times than I can remember.......but it's not working!

AtiaoftheJulii · 28/01/2019 22:20

Finally got round to trying the game on my laptop after realising it wouldn't work on my phone. Wish I hadn't bothered tbh. Can sort of see the connection between retirement planning and how you use your resources in a game, but don't understand how this game works as nothing seems to make much difference, and am really not interested in persevering, it's very unappealing. Not worth it for 20 quid, lol.

aristocat · 04/02/2019 19:48

Has this testing been abandoned? MNHQ?

SoftBlocks · 04/02/2019 19:53

I tried to access this twice and couldn’t. I emailed twice to report the issue but didn’t get a reply either time.
