I enjoyed being part of this product test immensely, although I haven’t had time to try ALL of the products, the ones that I have were lovely and the packaging is excellent.
Before I answer the questions, one point I would like to make is that the cards could have made more out of any Cruelty Free products. I’m now only buying products which are not tested on animals both here and abroad (e.g. a lot of brands here make a big deal out of not testing on animals but then sell in China where it is legal to do so. Decleor is an example of this and I no longer buy it because of this). This would be a concern to me if receiving multiple products each month as I would have no control over what is and isn’t tested on animals and would not want to contribute to animal cruelty in any way. I haven’t fully investigated the Birchbox website to get their stance on this however if they do solely use cruelty free products then it would be great if they publicised it on the accompanying cards.
Anyway, minor rant over - here are my answers:
What was your favourite product? Why?
The Polar Night Cream. It’s a really good cream, my skin is quite sensitive but didn’t react. It feels smooth and luxurious when you apply it and smells gorgeous.
- Did the Birchbox boxes give you a chance to try products or brands that you wouldn’t have otherwise? Which ones? Did you like them?
Yes definitely, which is why I was pleased to be part of the trial. I tend to stick to what I know and if I do try a new product, it’s usually within a brand that I know. This was an eye opener for sure.
- Which product(s) would you buy in future, now that you’ve tried them?
The Polar Night Cream, and perhaps the thermotherapy mask.
- Which was your favourite box design? Why?
The Nutcracker box was my favourite in terms of design and I liked that some of the products inside were themed to the box. It was the one which I was most excited to open!
- What did you like best about your Birchbox experience?
Trying new products and learning new techniques.
- Would you recommend Birchbox to a friend or family member?
If it was on offer. I don’t think that £10 is too much considering what is inside, however the £2.95 postage makes it a bit steep. I understand that if you subscribe you don’t pay postage (on the full subscription) but you’d have to be pretty dedicated to try all those different products every month, especially if you’re a mum!
