NOW CLOSED

BEAUTY PIE are looking for 25 Mumsnetters to test out their service and luxury beauty products available at factory costs. This product test is open to all UK Mumsnetters and testers will be given a 24 hour free trial membership of BEAUTY PIE, a boosted spending limit, plus 50% off their total basket.

Here’s what BEAUTY PIE has to say: “BEAUTY PIE is the first ever buyers club for beauty addicts. Members shop for luxury products from the world’s leading beauty labs and save up to 85% on the regular price. It seems too good to be true, but it’s not! You get the same quality cosmetics and high performance skincare without paying for the middlemen, the celebrity marketing or the retailer costs. So YOU get a bigger piece of the BEAUTY PIE.”

Selected testers will get:

  • 24 hour free trial to buy BEAUTY PIE’s discounted beauty products
  • £200 ‘regular price’ boosted spending limit (usually £100 for members)
  • 50% off their total basket order on member’s prices (member’s prices are the actual cost to BEAUTY PIE for the product, you can see the transparent cost breakdown on every product page)

Testers will have 2 weeks to test out their new beauty products and will be required to leave feedback on the service and products on a feedback thread on Mumsnet. Everyone who leaves feedback will be entered into a prize draw where 3 testers will win a £100 voucher of their choice (from a list).

If you are interested in taking part please sign up here.

Thanks and good luck!

Unless I’ve misunderstood this seems a bit emperors new clothes. It’s all own brand? So it could be like something I could get at a bargain price from Superdrug? It not like I can buy Clinique at wholesale price?

Theimpossiblegirl · 07/09/2018 08:06

Oh I didn't twig it was their own stuff. I was hoping for some cut price morphe etc.

Polly99 · 07/09/2018 11:04

I am already signed up with Beautypie and I have liked most of the products that I have tried. Their stuff seems good quality to me and is slowly taking over my bathroom and makeup bag: this morning I used 4 of their products, and another 3 last night before bed. So, I recommend giving it a whirl.

PomDeNlume · 07/09/2018 11:44

Definitely up for trying this, particularly since I just had a look on the site and they sell candles, a particular weakness of mine Grin

woodhill · 07/09/2018 12:52

Yes sounds good

holidaylady · 07/09/2018 13:02

I'll take part. Thanks

SouthWestmom · 07/09/2018 13:41

Yes I didn't realise it's own brand. I thought it was going to be discount membership (mass purchase type thing)

It's a good deal. A £200 allowance would enable you to buy their top moisturiser, a foundation, some cleanser and something else and you would pay very little. If you join you need to be aware you do pay postage so it can be better to order every few months as your allowance carries over.

thornyhousewife · 07/09/2018 17:49

I'm interested in Beauty Pie and have filled out the sign up form.

I'm not sure it worked though @mnhq as there was no confirmation page after pressing submit.

TheFuckfaceWhisperer · 07/09/2018 22:11

You can also get a £5 membership...

caterpuller · 08/09/2018 07:23

It's own brand but they source their products from the same places that big brands source their products. It's run by Marcia Kilgore, the woman who founded Bliss Spa, Fitflop and Soap & Glory. I signed up over a year ago and have pretty much stopped using any other skincare (apart from toiletries like deodorant, body moisturiser, shower gels etc which they don't do at the moment). I absolutely love it. The make up is great too. Favourite products are the super retinol skin care range, it's amazing.

SouthWestmom · 08/09/2018 09:05

Well lots of happy customers on here, these things are worth trying - I was sceptical about beauty boxes until I got one!

Ratbagcatbag · 08/09/2018 09:45

I've signed up. I was thinking I need to go to boots and overhaul some of my make up so this sounds a perfect time to have a look at this.

GemmeFatale · 08/09/2018 10:59

Before I sign up for the trial can anyone talk to me about their foundation? I’m pale and need pink not yellow based foundation, do they cover that colour?

Polly99 · 08/09/2018 11:54

Gemme I don’t use foundation, but they have a foundation matching thing, where you put in the details of one that is a match and it tells you which one of theirs is right for you. Otherwise, you should be able to see what they’ve got without signing up - some of the foundations are labelled as having pink undertones.

Butteredparsn1ps · 08/09/2018 15:06

LadyLapsong - that's a good idea re rolling the monthly amount over. I tend to purchase make up 2-3 times a year so this would work for me. I'll look at the foundation matching too.

Racecardriver · 08/09/2018 16:10

@blanchem @thisisnotrealavo @didiusfalco the products aren't marked down they are at cost. So they sell the products for what it costs to make them. They charge a membership fee to buy products and this is how they make a profit. The products are sourced from the same factories as many highend make up brands and use similar formulas. Have a look on the website. It genuinely is very cheap. This month I purchased a serum for 10 pounds that I would happily pay 60 for, a foundation for 6 that is comparable to 30 pound fouvdatiobs I have used and a lip oil which could easy go fir 15 to 20 pounds for about 4 pounds. Unfortunately it is a bit of a leap of faith the first few times you order but you when end up paying super drug prices for high end products the risk of ordering sonething slightly the wrong colour or occasionally getting sonething that doesn't suit your skin and having to bin it (this happened to me with their everyday moisturiser) isn't so bad.

Racecardriver · 08/09/2018 16:15

@gemefatal they tell you whether the foundation has a yellow, pink or, neutral undertone. I have the same problem and I just bought their 200 buttermilky shade. I normally buy ivory but have caught a tan over summer and needed something darker. They used to do shade samples for £2 but sadly stopped.

BlancheM · 08/09/2018 16:54

Thanks race that's interesting, I'll take a look

Housewife2010 · 08/09/2018 17:24

For me their outstanding products are the eyeshadow sticks (particularly in Brazilionaire, Goldie & Wild Violet) and the Japanfusion cleanser (which is a similar consistency to the Oskia Renaissance Cleansing Gel.) The rest of the Japanfusion range and Retinol Serum & Retinol moisturiser are also very good. I've been a member for 18 months. I order every 3 or 4 months. Postage has reduced recently.

Housewife2010 · 08/09/2018 17:25

Also I'm a MAC NC20 and Beauty Pie's shade 200 was a good fit for my skin.

HeckinGoodDoggo · 08/09/2018 20:54

Yes please!

BabySharkDoDoDoDoDo · 08/09/2018 23:58

So how much will it actually cost us if chosen?

Didiusfalco · 09/09/2018 08:18

Thanks Race I suppose I’m one of those people who isn’t convinced that the cheap stuff from Superdrug or wherever is always worse or that different than the high end stuff, aside from the marketing.
