Build-A-Bear have asked us to find 150 Mumsnetters with children aged 4-7 to visit their local Build-A-Bear workshop in order to trial their bear-building process (you can find their list of stores here). All participants will receive a £50 e-voucher to take to their local store to select and build a stuffed toy from their extensive collection along with clothes, shoes, sounds and scents.

Here’s what Build-A-Bear have to say: “CeleBEARate Easter with Build-A-Bear! From birthdays and holidays to good behaviour or an A+ at school, there are so many moments to #celeBEARate with a new furry friend from Build-A-Bear Workshop! Help us #celeBEARate Easter this year.

As we approach the Easter holiday and half term break, parents are always looking for fun, unique and personalized activities and traditions for the family. Bring your kids to Build-A-Bear Workshop to share a fun, heart-filled experience. Document your experience in photos and let us know about your experience with your kids and what made it memorable and meaningful.”

Selected Mumsnetters will be required to leave feedback on a thread on Mumsnet and also fill out a short survey. All testers that do so will be entered into a prize draw to win a £300 voucher of their choice (from a list). We’d also love testers to share photos of their DC building their bear on the thread and find out the story behind the bear and outfit. So whether your DC would like to build themselves a new bear, monkey, unicorn or rainbow confetti leopard signup here to take part.

Thanks and good luck!

Received a voucher, thank you so much MN and BAB Grin

Only query is @Patienceofatoddler says her email says the voucher has to be used within 2 weeks where as mine says 2 years!!

Does anyone else know the answer?! Or can you tell me what your emails say please.

LameAssUserName · 22/03/2018 15:38

Never mind, got the 2 week email now.

bec4everuk1 · 22/03/2018 16:22

BlueCookieMonster · 22/03/2018 17:17

Eek! We got one as well! Made my day this has!

diamantegal · 22/03/2018 20:58

Well, never one to hang about, we've been and built - and DS absolutely loved it! Where are we leaving feedback - this thread?

Coconutcreampie · 23/03/2018 07:56

Got the initial email but no voucher as yet. Very excited

ashleywhit · 23/03/2018 10:40

Ahh shame we didn't get in to this one my DS would of loved it! Well done who did, enjoy it! Xx

Wilberforce2 · 23/03/2018 12:17

@Coconutcreampie did your voucher arrive? Mine hasn't yet although mnhq have said they are looking into it.

Coconutcreampie · 23/03/2018 14:30

@wilberforce2 nope still not arrived. Its also being looked into. Fingers crossed

ShowOfHands · 23/03/2018 19:03

I'm relieved that others have the email but no voucher yet. We're still waiting but I think MN are onto it.

Very pleased to have been selected; it's a lovely product test.

Coconutcreampie · 23/03/2018 19:26

Mine came through at 5.30pm today thanks to Aaron @mumsnet

jenniferl1983 · 23/03/2018 20:14

I've had the voucher through too - thanks Mumsnet/BABW!

Does anyone know how long it roughly takes to create a bear in store?

diamantegal · 23/03/2018 20:32

Jennifer it depends how much your child dithers! The actually building doesn't take that long - 5/10 minutes maybe? - but you can faff along for ages choosing the bear, clothes, noises etc.

We went during late night shopping evening so it was relatively quiet (if you ignore the party that was going on). But if the shop had been busier, I can see there would have been a bit of hanging around - ours is a concession in a department store, and they can only make two bears at once.

bella2bella · 23/03/2018 21:09

We did it today, with two children and took about 45 mins. The lady was good and they spent quite a while getting the heart ready to put inside. It was a lovely experience! If you spend the full £50 and join their club you'll also get a £5 voucher emailed to you. They also sold me a £10 gift card for £5, so my children will have £15 more to spend on another outfit for £5, thanks Mumsnet and Build-a-bear. Will do my proper review soon.

jenniferl1983 · 23/03/2018 21:19

Thank you diamantegal and bella2bella

ShowOfHands · 24/03/2018 10:52

We still don't have a voucher 😣

Still, it's turned into the thing ds is most looking forward to in the history of the world ever.

SillyMoomin · 24/03/2018 11:30

Well we just tried to go to the one in high Wycombe which is advertised on the build a bear website- but the shopping centre informs us it’s not paid its rent and has been shut down (!!)

So merest one to us to now miles away- mnhq can we use the voucher online?

Bee70 · 24/03/2018 15:44

are we feeding back on here or will there be a review thread?
Just got back from using our voucher :)

fraggle84 · 24/03/2018 18:47

I didn’t get picked but I’m completely blaming this thread when dp realises that I’ve spent £95 in build a bear today 😖😖😖😖😖😖😖

TellMeItsNotTrue · 25/03/2018 12:14

SillyMoomin I'm not sure in the context of this product test, but the voucher does say it can be used online

It would be interested to know what the online side of things is like with regards to making a bear, because I can see the fun in picking the clothes but I can't see how making the bear would work and whether it would still be exciting

Does anyone know if we have to print the voucher out, I don't have a printer and I thought I could show it on my phone but I've just noticed (when checking about using online for SillyMoomin, so thankyou!) it says print out and take it. I can ask around for someone to print it for me if necessary but would rather not, so if anyone has just shown their phone I would appreciate knowing

Don't want to get to the till and find I've got to pay for everything because I haven't printed it Shock

Queenofthedrivensnow · 25/03/2018 17:11

We've been today we had a great time! We were given a £10 off voucher by another customer so we had £60 to spend. Dds absolutely loved it! Full review tomorrow

Smallinthesmoke · 25/03/2018 18:38

Fraggle Shock
We went today and DD said it was the best day of her life except for Christmas and birthdays! Mind you, she is easily pleased- she had thought it was just building a bear and hadn't fully clocked she could bring it home at the end.
Sillymoomin I would make a day out out of it and come up to London if you can afford the train tickets, as it is all about the experience rather than just the cuddly toy itself. We went to the one in Hamleys, which is a day out in itself.
Tellmeitsnottrue I printed mine out and checked first it would work. At the end there was nothing to scan in, just a code to type, so I am pretty sure it could have been done from the phone. Having said that, he didn't give me my piece of paper back. That doesn't answer your question at all sorry!

ShowOfHands · 25/03/2018 19:31

Still no voucher here. I'm hoping it is sent tomorrow as I'm actually pretty excited, as well as DS. I mean, do I even need to take him with me?

AaronMumsnet · 26/03/2018 10:06

Hi @Sillymoomin - Sorry to hear that you travelled to your local store only to find out that it was no longer open. I have emailed Build-A-Bear Workshop to see if you 'll be able to use your voucher online and will send you a PM once I have received a response. Thanks for letting us know! From Mumsnet HQ.

Thanks @AaronMumsnet, appreciate it :)

DH and I are going to take the DC's to London though at the weekend as suggested by a pp and do a proper Hamleys trip for the Bear, which will only add to the excitement I imagine! Grin

Would be good to give feedback back to BaB about updating their locations on their website though!
