This feedback thread is for the Mumsnetters who have been testing Stérimar Baby – a 100% natural sea water nasal spray which can be used to clear tiny little noses.

• How old is the child that you tested Stérimar Baby with?

Tested on my daughter who had just turned 1 when we used it.

• What were your first impressions of Stérimar Baby?

The product looked good. I was encouraged by the fact it's completely natural. The size was useful - easy to carry around.

• How easy was it to administer the product?

It was fairly easy to administer. My daughter doesn't stay still for very long so the first time was tricky as they can't be lying down to use the spray. Subsequent times were much easier as I'm pretty sure she remembered how good the spray made her feel so let me administer it with no problem!

• How soon, if at all, after using the product did you notice that your child could breathe easier?

It was immediate. Everything came running out of her nose, she sniffed in and out a few times and realised she could breathe properly again, then gave me a huge smile!

I'll definitely use this next time she has a snuffly nose. We loved it.

-What were your first impressions of Stérimar Baby?
It was bulkier than I was expecting, and with a larger nozzle than I was expecting, but I liked the idea of it being 100% natural.
-How easy was it to administer the product?
Very easy. As my son is 2 I could ask him to sit still and not move his head. The first nostril was easy - it was easy to insert, and the design of the nozzle prevented it from going too far. The mechanism itself is also well designed/positioned, making it easy to actually spray. My son wasn't too keen on having the second nostril sprayed (he complained at it being too cold but I suppose that is a given based on the fact that the container is pressurised).
-How soon, if at all, after using the product did you notice that your child could breathe more easily?
It was very quick, practically instant!

• What were your first impressions of Stérimar Baby? Nice packaging and compact etc. I liked the natural look to it
• How easy was it to administer the product? Easy enough though I was nervous as my baby is so small but no issues using it
• How soon, if at all, after using the product did you notice that your child could breathe easier? Seemed to give her some relief pretty much straight away and after 5 mins or so had seemed to make a difference

-How old is the child that you tested Stérimar Baby with? I tested it on my 7 month old and on my 3 year old, they both happened to have colds so decided to try it for both. I used it on my self too a couple of times.

-What were your first impressions of Stérimar Baby?

It's a large bottle which is great because for the price you get quite a lot. I likes it had the lid and the measured spray. What I didn't like was the strength of the spray, it was very hard and kind of hurt when I used it which explains why both my children didn't like it when it was time to use it. My son who is 3 said it hurt and he would get upset when I wanted to use it.

-How easy was it to administer the product?
The measured spray was great so you knew exactly how much to use, but the nozzle was a little big for my 7 month old and went too far in her nostril.

-How soon, if at all, after using the product did you notice that your child could breathe easier?

Out seemed to work almost immediately. I just had to clean their nose with a wipe and any mucus seemed to come.away easily.and they breathed better. This is the only reason I carried on with the trial.

-How old is the child that you tested Stérimar Baby with? I used it on my 2 year old and also my 9m old
-What were your first impressions of Stérimar Baby? I wasn't sure as nozzle looked a bit scary but realized I wasn't and liked packaging and clearly says natural which appealed
-How easy was it to administer the product? Once I worked out how it was v easy, the nozzle wasn't v secure so I used it wrongly at first and it didn't spray but once on properly it was v easy. I would say the nozzle could be improved in that it could be securely attacked so doesn't knock out of position though even if not it wouldn't put me off buying this product as it was great!
-How soon, if at all, after using the product did you notice that your child could breathe easier? Straight away! It really worked! I was sceptical before trying it but was so pleased with the results on both my youngest children it worked a treat!

Just turned 2 years old!
-What were your first impressions of Stérimar Baby?
I was surprised at how big the bottle was and the applicator looked different to other baby nasal sprays I'd used in the past. But it was actually even easier to use this applicator than others I've tried. Big bottle so will last ages and it is 100% natural so that's a huge plus for me. Nice packaging and clear, easy to understand instructions. Worked really well at clearing my daughters blocked nose.

-How easy was it to administer the product?
Super easy. I love that the applicator can be used at any angle which is great with a wriggly toddler! The spray was easy to use and let out a nice fine mist of the product. Comfortable to hold and simple to use. My daughter didn't mind the spray sensation at all. It was very gentle as I tried it myself.
-How soon, if at all, after using the product did you notice that your child could breathe easier?
Within 10 minutes my daughters nose was clearer and she could breathe a lot easier. We used it every morning, a couple of times during the day when needed sometimes we used it before food to help her breathe and eat easier and at bedtime. Very impressed with this product and would definitely recommend.

Great, packaging was good, the product was small enough to carry around and I sprayed it up my nose first to make sure it wasn't too fierce but it was very gentle.

How easy was it to administer the product?
So easy, the applicator was a perfect shape.

How soon, if at all, after using the product did you notice that your child could breathe easier?
Within minutes, and she slept so much better. We had been having such poor quality sleep, this has been a lifesaver.
I really love this product and would recommend to everyone.

Nice packaging, spray seemed nice and fine.
-How easy was it to administer the product?
Very easy, so much better than any saline spray I've used before. I usually use the pump spray which only works if held upright which is difficult when trying to wrangle an infant that is full of the cold! The sterimar spray worked at any angle and my dd didn't protest (as much) when spraying it.
-How soon, if at all, after using the product did you notice that your child could breathe easier?
After a couple of minutes. It helped loosen the congestion so it ran out of her nose.

I really, really liked this product and will definitely purchase in the future!

I use sterimar products myself with lots of success so I had good first impressions

-How easy was it to administer the product?
OMG at first it was hard as my son was fully aware of what I was going to do, and he was terrified!! He cried and screamed and I couldn't do it. But when he was REALLY struggling with his blocked nose a few days later he asked me to do it, and I did, and he was fine with it. It made him jump at first, but it worked for him and cleared his blocked nose!

-How soon, if at all, after using the product did you notice that your child could breathe easier. Straight away. He was noticeably at ease and able to breathe better! Will use again!

18 months.

-What were your first impressions of Stérimar Baby?
Good instructions and straightforward to use.

Not easy but that was down to a wriggly toddler!

Straight away a much happier boy.

We used this on my 5 month old.
First impressions: excellent shaped nozzle to fit in small nostrils, much easier to use than other nasal sprays we've used.

It was easy to administer and my son could breathe better almost instantly, but it comes out quite fast and made his eyes stream - he didn't like it much, but I don't suppose any of us would enjoy being sprayed up the nose!

We needed to use it twice a day for it to be effective as he had a bad cold, but it did seem to clear his nose well. We even used it once in the middle of the night as he couldn't sleep due to a blocked nose, and it helped him breath easier and get back to sleep, which we were all very happy about!

I was impressed it was natural, but the nozzle was huge for such a small nostril

How easy was it to administer the product?
It wasn't. The nozzle was too big and wouldn't fit, once we'd squirted it he cried and didn't like it. This would be more suitable for an older baby

How soon, if at all, after using the product did you notice that your child could breathe easier?
Even if he didn't like it, it still cleared his nose and it was easier for him to breathe.

Just an extra, if it would be possible to have a smaller nozzle on it for smaller noses (on an adaptor piece to make it smaller/hose) it would be a lot easier on wiggly little babies.

Nice packaging and design of nozzle. And good that it is all natural.

-How easy was it to administer the product? Fairly easy, however I am not sure if I had a dodgy bottle as the nozzle kept slipping out of alignment when it was pushed which made it more stressful than it needed to be trying to applicate it once it was aligned properly. Hard with a strong toddler. He did tolerate it once he realised it helped. However it did keep slipping out alignment repeatedly. I would purchase to try again though because it helped.

-How soon, if at all, after using the product did you notice that your child could breathe easier? Almost instantly.

-How old is the child that you tested Stérimar Baby with?
DD is 2

-What were your first impressions of Stérimar Baby?
Seemed OK. I've used the adult version of Sterimar, the nozzle looks a little more child friendly on the baby one.

-How easy was it to administer the product?
Not very - but down to DD. I found it really hard to spray it before she moved her head away, although this is true with other nasal sprays I've used with her so it's no worse than others. DD didn't like it, however, and got upset.

-How soon, if at all, after using the product did you notice that your child could breathe easier?
She seemed a bit less congested after she'd calmed down.

-How old is the child that you tested Stérimar Baby with?
9 months

-What were your first impressions of Stérimar Baby?
It looked clean and easy to use

-How easy was it to administer the product?

Very easy

-How soon, if at all, after using the product did you notice that your child could breathe easier?

Almost immediately. He seemed to snort up, sometimes sneezed, then took a few deep breaths. Very quick and effective.

  8 months.

• What were your first impressions of Stérimar Baby?
  Nice and compact. Decent amount in it and good that it's natural.

• How easy was it to administer the product?
  Easy after figuring it out. DD wasn't overly pleased but then who can blame her. I also tried it. Very refreshing!

• How soon, if at all, after using the product did you notice that your child could breathe easier?
  Within 5 minutes. Helped her sneeze some of the funk down.

She's got a cold again so going to give it another go.

I thought the nozzle looked great as it was easy for it to go into small nostrils without the worry of it slipping too far in. The packaging is simple yet pleasant looking. Easy to use.

I thought the product was really simple and easy to use.

-How soon, if at all, after using the product did you notice that your child could breathe easier?
I found we had immediate results. My babies nose was cleared and unblocked straight away meaning she was able to breathe so much easier and made feeding easier as a result.

Slightly easier to breathe after a while, but only for minor nasal stuffiness/blockage. Not so in the cases of heavy blockage. This method is good if the child sneezes immediately after as a lot of the gunk is released along with the medicine fluid.

Slightly easier to breathe after a short while, but only for minor nasal stuffiness/blockages. Not so in the cases of heavy blockage.
However, this product is good if the child sneezes immediately after use as a lot of gunk is released from the nose (even if a lot of the medicine fluid comes out as well)

What were your first impressions of Stérimar Baby? Nice, eye-catching design that looked like it had a fair amount inside.
