This thread is for the Mumsnetters who are testing energy switching service Flipper.

Here’s what Flipper has to say: “Flipper is a fantastic new service which we think is perfect for Mumsnetters. Flipper is NOT price comparison, we are your personal energy expert. All the work is done on your behalf, no looking at pesky bills, figuring out your usage or which deal is the best for you. We take everything into account when calculating savings (incl exit fees) and we even manage the switch process and confirm it for you. We then run quarterly checks to make sure you are kept on the best deal. Flipper is 100% independent, we take NO commission from energy companies and we only work for our members, ensuring our Flippers are always kept on the best deal. No fuss, no confusion - just savings”

If you have began your testing of Flipper later and would like to give feedback on the your initial experience with the sign up process, please answer the below questions:

1. How did you find the sign up process? Did you understand Flipper’s instructions?
2. Did you find the FAQ helpful? Did you feel that it answered the questions you had sufficiently?
3. Are you clear on what will happen post sign up? Please describe what the next steps are for you.
4. If you used Flipper’s customer care team, did you find them helpful? Did they respond to you in a timely manner?
5. Is there anything more you feel could have been done for you?

If you've now completed your testing of Flipper and have had your service switched, we'd like you to answer the below questions:

1. How satisfied are you with the estimated savings you will make on your energy bills with Flipper?
2. How well do you feel Flipper handled your energy switch?
3. How easy was the process for you – from signing up, to switch completion?
4. Were you happy with Flipper’s communication and customer care throughout the process?
5. Would you be comfortable having Flipper manage your energy on an ongoing basis?
6. How would you compare switching your energy with Flipper to switching with price comparison sites?
7. What would you say is the best thing about Flipper?
8. Would you recommend Flipper to family or friends?

All those to give the required feedback will be entered into a prize draw where one MNer will win a £300 voucher for a store of their choice (from a list).

Thanks, and good luck with the prize draw!

I signed up but haven't heard a peep from them since, so had completely forgotten about it until I saw this feedback thread. Not very impressed!

  1. How satisfied are you with the estimated savings you will make on your energy bills with Flipper?
Based on the estimate and the amount I am now paying, I am saving around £40 per month, so I'm very satisfied.
  1. How well do you feel Flipper handled your energy switch?
Flipper handled the switch smoothly. As I said previously, I would have preferred to have had a chance to confirm the switch before Flipper went ahead.
  1. How easy was the process for you – from signing up, to switch completion?
Process was very straightforward.
  1. Were you happy with Flipper’s communication and customer care throughout the process?
I didn't need to use the customer care and the communication emails gave me all the information I needed.
  1. Would you be comfortable having Flipper manage your energy on an ongoing basis?
I'm not totally happy with the possibility of Flipper switching my supplier without my confirmation on a regular basis.
  1. How would you compare switching your energy with Flipper to switching with price comparison sites?
The switch process was easier with Flipper because they managed the switch process without any intervention from me.
  1. What would you say is the best thing about Flipper?
I would say that the best thing about Flipper is the straightforward, no hassle switching.
  1. Would you recommend Flipper to family or friends?
Yes, I would recommend Flipper to other people, but would warn them that they need to hand over their energy account details and that the switch happens automatically.

1. How satisfied are you with the estimated savings you will make on your energy bills with Flipper?
Very satisfied - I was estimated to save over £400/year. I double checked this using the Martin Lewis energy price checker and they came back with the same answer so I felt secure in it being right.
2. How well do you feel Flipper handled your energy switch?
I have had no problems, so handled well.
3. How easy was the process for you – from signing up, to switch completion?
Process was straightforward.
4. Were you happy with Flipper’s communication and customer care throughout the process?
I have not had to have any interaction with customer care at all as everything was very smooth. However, as others have done, I feel the process wasn't communicated properly from the outset - for example, I was quite perturbed to discover I was registered using a Flipper email address and all communications with my new company go via Flipper now.
5. Would you be comfortable having Flipper manage your energy on an ongoing basis?
Based on the issues others have had, I am unsure.
6. How would you compare switching your energy with Flipper to switching with price comparison sites?
I have always done it myself when I have switched so nothing to compare it with. But there have been no problems.
7. What would you say is the best thing about Flipper?
That I saved a lot of money.
8. Would you recommend Flipper to family or friends?
As before, because of problems others have had, unsure. Overall I have a positive experience but I feel slightly wary about things that weren't communicated sufficiently upfront (or were but not really thoroughly explained, given it's a totally different approach that people aren't used to). And to be honest, this service (while doing all the legwork of changing for me) gave me the same results as the Martin Lewis one which is a free comparison service.

I feel I should change my email with my new energy company, presume it's ok to do this and wont muck anything up?

How satisfied are you with the estimated savings you will make on your energy bills with Flipper?
They're not huge savings but it will save us about £10 per month

  1. How well do you feel Flipper handled your energy switch?
Reasonably well. It was a bit awkward as our accounts are in DP's name & they wouldn't let me talk to them until he gave his permission.
  1. How easy was the process for you – from signing up, to switch completion?
Too easy in that it all happened without our knowledge! First we were aware was when the new company contacted us to ask why we hadn't sent out meter readings'
  1. Were you happy with Flipper’s communication and customer care throughout the process?
Yes once we were aware it was all systems go
  1. Would you be comfortable having Flipper manage your energy on an ongoing basis?
Not so sure - think I would like to have a little more say in the process
  1. How would you compare switching your energy with Flipper to switching with price comparison sites?
Similar as I still checked on their offer with a price comparison site!
  1. What would you say is the best thing about Flipper?
We've saved money & for little effort
  1. Would you recommend Flipper to family or friends?
With disclaimers yes!

  1. How satisfied are you with the estimated savings you will make on your energy bills with Flipper?
If the savings hold out they are very good.
  1. How well do you feel Flipper handled your energy switch?
The jurys still out. Hard to tell from my account if my switch is finalised and I've ad no email from them to confirm. A little concerned I will be double charged.
  1. How easy was the process for you – from signing up, to switch completion?
Again, depends how it pans out. Still not sure whats happening and awaiting a reply from CS. Weve just had a baby and could doo without any hassle so hoping Im just confused...
  1. Were you happy with Flipper’s communication and customer care throughout the process?
Not with communication, I've barely heard from them in weeks. Well see re the other
  1. Would you be comfortable having Flipper manage your energy on an ongoing basis?
Not sure.
  1. How would you compare switching your energy with Flipper to switching with price comparison sites?
On the face of it simpler, and the deal they got me was better than the one I found. Harder to ensure you arent being taken for a ride.
  1. What would you say is the best thing about Flipper?
The potential savings were big.
  1. Would you recommend Flipper to family or friends?
I may, I'm still waiting to see if it was all a big mistake. I'll try and update when customer services have got back, baby permitting

  1. How satisfied are you with the estimated savings you will make on your energy bills with Flipper?
Impressed, they estimated we'd save £280 per year which if it proves to be true I'd be very happy with
  1. How well do you feel Flipper handled your energy switch?
Seemed straightforward although I've been with my new supplier for over a month now and my flipper account still doesn't show the switch is complete so I'm a little nervous of that
  1. How easy was the process for you – from signing up, to switch completion?
its been pretty easy, I've had to do very little apart from follow up one query where the account info was only showing that my electricity had switch when it's actually both
  1. Were you happy with Flipper’s communication and customer care throughout the process?
I feel like there's not enough communication, as said earlier I'm still waiting to be told my switch is complete. I'd also like to know a little more about what will happen now ongoing as a trial customer we rather than paid.
  1. Would you be comfortable having Flipper manage your energy on an ongoing basis?
Maybe If they improved their communication a bit more.
  1. How would you compare switching your energy with Flipper to switching with price comparison sites?
Haven't switched using a comparison site before, have only gone direct through support so can't compare.
  1. What would you say is the best thing about Flipper?
Not having to figure out the best deal and fill in all the paperwork/ deal with phone calls.
  1. Would you recommend Flipper to family or friends?
I've recommended to my mother in law who's never changed her supplier but who hasn't the energy or capacity right now (recently beveaved) to do it herself
Nigglenaggle · 07/10/2016 19:42

Well after initially saying that they were short staffed and I'd have to wait, they have now replied and said my flip is complete and the other message was an error. An email without pushing would've been good. I'd be pissed off if I'd given them £50.

  1. How satisfied are you with the estimated savings you will make on your energy bills with Flipper?

Pleased. Estimated £240 a year, so not huge, but well worth it.

  1. How well do you feel Flipper handled your energy switch?

Pretty well overall. Everything was taken care of.

  1. How easy was the process for you – from signing up, to switch completion?

Needed quite a bit of info to start with, which I assume would be lessened when they come to re-evaluate, as they should already hold this (untested though). Everything was taken care of. Only complaint was that it was at times confusing, as emails from the new supplier were coming through directly and also via Flipper. When it came to supplying meter readings, didn't have our login details, which was apparently emailed, but I had no record of. This meant that I had to contact the new supplier to get.

  1. Were you happy with Flipper’s communication and customer care throughout the process?

Yes. See comment above.

  1. Would you be comfortable having Flipper manage your energy on an ongoing basis?

Yes.

  1. How would you compare switching your energy with Flipper to switching with price comparison sites?

Not used so unable to comment.

  1. What would you say is the best thing about Flipper?

They do the hard work for you.

  1. Would you recommend Flipper to family or friends?

Yes.

Kr1stina · 09/10/2016 08:35

The service is terrible.

I applied in late August . After 19 emails between then and 8 September , I've heard nothing.

Is be furious if I'd paid them a penny.
