This is the feedback thread for the 100 Mumsnetters who are trying the Milton Solo Travel Steriliser and antibacterial surface wipes with their baby aged 1 and under.

Here’s what Milton have to say about the products: "Our single bottle travel steriliser can be used in a microwave or with cold water. It’s ideal when you’re out and about during the day, for holidays or for overnight stays –as you don’t then need to carry your usual bulky sterilisers with you. It sterilises from 2 minutes in the microwave and in 15 mins with cold water. We're really proud of the unique safety vent technology which increases the temperature inside for better sterilisation. We'd love to know what Mumsnetters think about it!"

More info on the Milton Solo Travel Steriliser here and the antibacterial surface wipes here.

Q1. Where have you used the Solo travel steriliser/ Milton Antibacterial Surface Wipes when out and about?

Unfortunately the bottles I use didn't fit into the steriliser ( munchkin latch) so I have been unable to use this. The wipes I loved! They came in super handy, weren't too greasy and were a great help to wipe over second hand toys, high chair trays and table surfaces.

Q2. How easy were the Solo travel steriliser and Milton Antibacterial Surface Wipes to use? Were the instructions easy to follow?
See above re sterliser! Wipes were easy to use.

Q3. Would you buy the Solo travel steriliser and/or Milton Antibacterial Surface Wipes again, if the price was reasonable?

If I knew that the steriliser fitted the bottles i used then I would consider buying it as its compact and the fact it can be used in the microwave and with cold water is a bonus.
I would definitely use the wipes again!

Q4. Would you recommend both of these products to a friend?

I cannot recommend the steriliser having not used it but can recommend the wipes and wouldn't hesitate to do so.

Q1. Where have you used the Solo travel steriliser/ Milton Antibacterial Surface Wipes when out and about?

We used them on a camping trip, and for a 3-night trip to the grandparents.

Q2. How easy were the Solo travel steriliser and Milton Antibacterial Surface Wipes to use? Were the instructions easy to follow?

The solo steriliser was easy to use but it must be kept upright (and therefore out of reach of little ones) which was fine when we were camping but not so easy when travelling in the car. I was confused about the amount of steriliser tablets I should be using when using the cold water steriliser. I thought it said use a 1/4 tablet on the steriliser packet, but the instructions inside said to use a whole tablet. I also didn't read the part about the liquid being ok to use for 24 hours until later so I was replacing it every time until I checked the instructions. I found the instructions for microwave sterilising clear and very easy, and didn't even read the instructions for the wipes because I assumed it's a case of wipe and go for toys etc.

Q3. Would you buy the Solo travel steriliser and/or Milton Antibacterial Surface Wipes again, if the price was reasonable?

Yes I would buy the solo steriliser for short trips, and the wipes are handy to have in the day bag.

Q4. Would you recommend both of these products to a friend?

It would depend on what the friend wanted to use them for. I think the solo steriliser is good for trips away, and for situations where you don't know if a microwave will be available. However I wouldn't recommend for use on day trips as the steriliser must be kept upright.

Q1. Where have you used the Solo travel steriliser/ Milton Antibacterial Surface Wipes when out and about?

The sterliser was useful for a family trip over a weekend which meant I didnt have to take my larger steraliser. The wipes are super handy to have at all times in my changing bag - I have used on dummy's when dropped, as well as tables and changing mat.

Q2. How easy were the Solo travel steriliser and Milton Antibacterial Surface Wipes to use? Were the instructions easy to follow?

Both were very easy to use. However with the wipes I didnt realise that you had to leave dummy's / bottle teats to dry for 5 minutes before giving back to baby so I was a bit worried after I learnt this and hadn't been following this instruction.

Q3. Would you buy the Solo travel steriliser and/or Milton Antibacterial Surface Wipes again, if the price was reasonable?

I would definitely by the wipes again. However - I prefer bag style travel steralizer as they are more compact and can fit two bottles in them.

Q4. Would you recommend both of these products to a friend?

Yes I would!

We’ve used the Solo travel steriliser in a few places - when at a wedding the other weekend (I was a bridesmaid, so DH was in full charge of our 3 month old - there was no way he was carting our plug-in 6-bottle steriliser with him!) Also at a family picnic, when we used the cold water method. We don’t have a microwave at home but we tried it out in my brother-in-law’s microwave and it worked well.

Have also found another use around the house, where we use it to sterilise dummies (always getting dropped on the floor and a faff to use the large plug-in steriliser for this along with bottles).

The sterilising wipes have been useful too - one pack in the changing bag to wipe down grotty surfaces (or things I drop - butterfingers), and the other pack next to the changing mat to give it a quick wipe-down.

Once you’ve read the instructions, the steriliser was easy to use and very convenient (the wipes are kind of a no-brainer!)

The steriliser instructions were quite easy to follow - though I thought the instructions on the pack and on the leaflet on the inside contradicted each other regarding tablets? Pack exterior says to add one quarter tablet and interior leaflet says to add one tablet. Unless I am reading it wrong - either way, it was a little confusing.

I would buy both the steriliser and wipes again, if the price was right. I actually wish I had the steriliser earlier on in DD’s life, as we did a lot of travelling for various reasons when she was newborn, at the same time as I was exclusively pumping (logistical nightmare), and this would have made life a bit easier.

I would recommend to a friend, depending on price. Obviously you could buy the tablets and use your own container, but wouldn’t necessarily be suitable for microwave use etc. I will be lending ours to my SIL once our wee one is a bit older.

Q1. Where have you used the Solo travel steriliser/ Milton Antibacterial Surface Wipes when out and about?

I have used the steriliser when visiting friends and family and when staying away in a premier inn where there was no microwave facility. I have used the antibacterial wipes when in the hotel to wipe down the surfaces where I make up bottles and I have also used them when in cafes and restaurants.

Q2. How easy were the Solo travel steriliser and Milton Antibacterial Surface Wipes to use? Were the instructions easy to follow?
They were simple but I did have a few issues. Fitting the larger tommee tippee bottle is was a bit awkward at first and I did displace some water on the first few attempts. There also was a difference between the unit and box instructions on how long the tablet takes to work. I followed the tablet box in the end (15 mins) as that is how long I normally use them for when sterilising bottles just using a big bucket. I have not yet had chance to try the microwave method.

Q3. Would you buy the Solo travel steriliser and/or Milton Antibacterial Surface Wipes again, if the price was reasonable?
It would depend on the price. I did like the product but I do still feel the same could be achieved using a small tuperware tub.

Q4. Would you recommend both of these products to a friend? Yes

Q1. Where have you used the Solo travel steriliser/ Milton Antibacterial Surface Wipes when out and about?

I used the steriliser when out for the day and visiting friends. It will be really useful
on our upcoming holiday too. The wipes have been everywhere with us, they are so useful for wiping down yukky high chairs and also the seats in the trollies whilst shopping. I kept the second pack by the changing mat and use them to clean it after our frequent poo explosions!

Q2. How easy were the Solo travel steriliser and Milton Antibacterial Surface Wipes to use? Were the instructions easy to follow?
The steriliser was very easy to use and did the job perfectly, we have never used a cold water steriliser before as I was amazed at how simple it was. I'll be glad to pack the steam steriliser away and just use this once my DS drops his bottles down. The wipes are great to just whip out!

Q3. Would you buy the Solo travel steriliser and/or Milton Antibacterial Surface Wipes again, if the price was reasonable?
I have tried other own brand antibacterial wipes for babies/children and the Milton ones were better, they are thicker and hold more solution, as long as they weren't vastly overpriced in comparison with own brands I would definitely choose them. The sterliser is great and whilst I didn't know I needed one before the test I definitely think they are a useful bit of kit now!

Q4. Would you recommend both of these products to a friend?
Yes definitely, my clean freak friends would love the wipes!!

I am having problems uploading a photo but will come back on and do so when I can.

Q1. Where have you used the Solo travel steriliser/ Milton Antibacterial Surface Wipes when out and about?

I used the steriliser when visiting my Mum's house and have used the wipes both at home and whilst out and about.

Q2. How easy were the Solo travel steriliser and Milton Antibacterial Surface Wipes to use? Were the instructions easy to follow?

The wipes were very easy to use... I didn't even realise they needed instructions! The steriliser had very easy to follow instructions for the microwave method. I did have to do a bit of head scratching whilst trying to work out how much of a tablet to use for the cold water method but got there eventually.

Q3. Would you buy the Solo travel steriliser and/or Milton Antibacterial Surface Wipes again, if the price was reasonable?

I really liked the wipes, they are in a handy small pack and everything felt squeaky clean after using them. I wasn't such a fan of the steriliser. It didn't fit in the microwave (as far as I know it's not a compact model), and it leaked when on it's side. Having said that I would probably take it with me if going away as it does offer flexibility in sterilising.

Q4. Would you recommend both of these products to a friend?
I would definitely recommend the wipes, but probably not the steriliser.

Q1. Where have you used the Solo travel steriliser/ Milton Antibacterial Surface Wipes when out and about?
I used the Solo Travel Steriliser when we went away for the weekend and the wipes anywhere and everywhere!

Q2. How easy were the Solo travel steriliser and Milton Antibacterial Surface Wipes to use? Were the instructions easy to follow?
So easy - very simple which filled me with confidence and also made it easy to use in a hotel room. We used the cold water method which was fab and the fact that the sterilised water can remain in there for 24 hours and continue to be used is a huge bonus! I just popped another bottle in as i took one out!
The wipes are just great - my daughters toys and soothers are forever being dropped on the floor and the wipes are a quick and easy solution.

Q3. Would you buy the Solo travel steriliser and/or Milton Antibacterial Surface Wipes again, if the price was reasonable?
Yes absolutely especially as we plan on going away for the weekend quite frequently. It's small enough that it doesn't take up too much room and the wipes are a must have! I will always carry them around with me.

Q4. Would you recommend both of these products to a friend?
Yes most definitely - i wish i had know about the products much sooner!

We have used the steriliser and whilst visiting friends and relatives and the wipes in restaurants, parks, etc. Both were easy to use. The steriliser is quite small so I probably wouldn't buy one (unless it was available in a larger size), but I would buy the wipes. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend either product, as they are convenient and easy to use.

Q1. Where have you used the Solo travel steriliser/ Milton Antibacterial Surface Wipes when out and about?

Q2. How easy were the Solo travel steriliser and Milton Antibacterial Surface Wipes to use? Were the instructions easy to follow?

We used the cold water method in the hotel room, and it was really simple to use. We use the Mam bottles and they fitted perfectly.

Q3. Would you buy the Solo travel steriliser and/or Milton Antibacterial Surface Wipes again, if the price was reasonable?

If the price was reasonable for the travel sterilizer I'd probably buy it again, as its a good size and easy to use. I'd definitely buy the wipes again and have them as a household standard, as they are great and so useful.

Q4. Would you recommend both of these products to a friend?

Q1. I took the steriliser away with me when I went to visit my parents for a few days.
Q2. I used the steriliser with cold water and with the microwave - both really easy to use and foolproof instructions! Wipes were easy to use although I found them pretty small to clear up the (huge) mess my baby can make on his high chair. They were good to keep in my bag for a quick wipe of a (supposedly clean) high chair when out in a restaurant. I found the smell of them quite overpowering though and didn't feel that they were wet enough.
Q3. I would buy the wipes again, but just for out and about, not for at home. I wish the steriliser could fit 2 bottles in - 1 is fine for a short trip but when away for longer when staying somewhere without a microwave, waiting 15 mins is quite a long time.
Q4. I would recommend, but based on the slight downsides above.

Q1. Where have you used the Solo travel steriliser/ Milton Antibacterial Surface Wipes when out and about?
I have used them in the house and out and about, but in particular at a large family party - we had to travel up to the party the day before and it was brilliant not to have to take the massive Tommee Tippee steriliser - the wipes also came in handy when my baby girl had an explosive poo all over me, her and the restuarant's high chair!

Q2. How easy were the Solo travel steriliser and Milton Antibacterial Surface Wipes to use? Were the instructions easy to follow?
Very easy to use! The wipes were awesome - they smelt very clean and also left the surfaces dry. They seemed to clean much better than baby wipes.
I loved the two different methods for sterilising, each being very helpful in different travelling situations. I love that you can leave the bottles in the solution for as long as you want until they are needed.

Q3. Would you buy the Solo travel steriliser and/or Milton Antibacterial Surface Wipes again, if the price was reasonable?
I'm not sure if I would have enough use out of it to warrant purchasing the steriliser - because there are (admittedly annoying) ways around needing t. But if the price was good I probably would buy it. I am a huge convert to the wipes and will definitely be purchasing them in future.

Q4. Would you recommend both of these products to a friend?
Yes, absolutely.

Q1. Where have you used the Solo travel steriliser/ Milton Antibacterial Surface Wipes when out and about?

We've used the steriliser at both sets of grandparents houses when visiting and the wipes have been added to the changing bag for when we're out and about. They've come in handy for wiping down changing tables and highchairs in public places.

Q2. How easy were the Solo travel steriliser and Milton Antibacterial Surface Wipes to use? Were the instructions easy to follow?

Both products were easy to use. My DM has never been good at following instructions but managed to use the steriliser in the microwave without any difficulties. We hadn't tried cold water sterilising before but found both ways easier than our usual steam steriliser.

Q3. Would you buy the Solo travel steriliser and/or Milton Antibacterial Surface Wipes again, if the price was reasonable?

We are thinking of packing away our regular steriliser and just using this one from now on now we only have a couple weeks f bottles to do a day. It will definitely be handy to have the travel option when we have a second child. We'll also be keeping our changing bag supplied with the wipes.

Q4. Would you recommend both of these products to a friend?

Yes definitely.

Q1. Where have you used the Solo travel steriliser/ Milton Antibacterial Surface Wipes when out and about?

I took both away on a UK holiday. The wipes were used at softplay for a highchair, on the beach for cups and countless times when the pushchair bar (which my child sucks) was made dirty by my older child's sticky ice-cream hands.

I used the travel steriliser in the morning at the house for my breast pump and son's bottle.

Q2. How easy were the Solo travel steriliser and Milton Antibacterial Surface Wipes to use? Were the instructions easy to follow?

The wipes were very easy to use. They come out of the packet well and I didn't end up pulling out loads each time.

The steriliser was also very easy. I used the cold water method (as we had no microwave) and had familiarised myself with the instructions before we left. The instructions on the box were easy to follow. I would say that the steriliser is quite small - it could do with being about half the size again (it's not an issue when packing for travel, as you can always pack things inside it in your bag). I had to use it twice each morning to get the pump and bottles steriliser, so it took 30 minutes.

Q3. Would you buy the Solo travel steriliser and/or Milton Antibacterial Surface Wipes again, if the price was reasonable?

I would definitely buy the wipes again - I thought they were great and had a reassuring "medical" scent. We used them a lot, and I could see myself using them a lot at home too.

The steriliser was good, and very easy to use, but if I were looking to buy, I'd have opted for a slightly larger size.

Q4. Would you recommend both of these products to a friend?

Definitely the wipes - I will recommend these. I think I'd recommend the steriliser if someone was looking for something to sterilise dummies and cups, but probably not if they were bottle feeding a smaller baby as I don't think it would be big enough.

Firstly I use everything to do with my baby by the brand 'Mam' although I do have the mam mini steraliser. (Which is fab and I always get positive comments on it when out and about) so I thought I would try a new brand.
I used the Milton wipes and travel steraliser when I went to visit my mum.
I also went out and brought a tommee tippee travel steraliser aswell so I could compare the two.
I must say I much prefer the Milton, not only is is bigger it's so much easer to use. As per instructions on my mam bottles I have to take the bottles apart into 5 different bits so it only just fit. (Didn't all fit in tommee tippee one) I used mine in the microwave. However I like the fact you can use it with cold water aswell. But for time I love microwave steralising. Also it's super easy to clean when not in use...comes apart in 3 sections.
The instructions were clear and we'll layed out.
I decided to use the wipes on my little girls changing mat, dummy and surfaces before I put changing mat down, highchair and dummies. (My Milton mini had the spare in it) I also used them for her teething toys. I LOVE them! I really think they are fab. Clean really well and don't smell horrible. 10/10
I would definitely buy BOTH products again. Expecially the wipes! Nice and compact for any size changing bag.
I have recommended to all my mummy friends! 😊

I have been using the Solo travel steriliser at home in the microwave and also at my parents house. These products were ideal for when my daughter stayed at nan's / grandad's house as the steriliser is lightweight and easy to carry. I also plan to take this on holiday's with me and when i go out for the day, the surface wipes have been great for when i have been to restaurants they are perfect for killing germs so have been ideal for wiping down highchairs and when on public transport etc.

Q2. How easy were the Solo travel steriliser and Milton Antibacterial Surface Wipes to use? Were the instructions easy to follow?

Q1. Where have you used the Solo travel steriliser/ Milton Antibacterial Surface Wipes when out and about?
I used the surface wipes at soft play :) they were just perfect for given the little high chair a wipe before we give the kids something to eat.. Also used them on the toilet seat at soft play & the solo travel steriliser was fantastic to use.. Very easy to used! We used it at my friends birthday party and my sister in law's wedding! Totally made things so much easier.
Q2. How easy were the Solo travel steriliser and Milton Antibacterial Surface Wipes to use? Were the instructions easy to follow?

The instructions were great totally easy to use, very straight forward and totally love the idea of the solo travel steriliser, highly recommended.

Q3. Would you buy the Solo travel steriliser and/or Milton Antibacterial Surface Wipes again, if the price was reasonable?
I would totally buy the wipes & solo travel steriliser again, I've told everyone how good it is to use and a few of my friends have already bought them too.

Q4. Would you recommend both of these products to a friend?
I already did to friends/ family and they went out and bought them too. Totally recommend them to every parent!
