This is the feedback thread for the Mumsnetters who tested the Pedigree dog food range.

Pedigree say "Our philosophy is to provide leading-edge nutrition that's affordable for everyone, and with over 80 years of experience making dog food, we're proud of our products. Currently, we’re on a mission to encourage owners to feed their dogs a combination dry food, wet food, a regular dental care regime and a responsible amount of treats. Why? Q1. Were you aware of Pedigree® dog food before taking part in this product test? If so, have you ever purchased it before?

My dogs have always been offered Pedigree dog food, and I have been a dog owner on and off for my entire life! so yes I was aware of Pedigree dog food.

Q2. What are your overall impressions of the Pedigree® Complete Feeding diet your dog tested? We’d love your thoughts on the complete diet as well as the individual products.

It's a great idea a complete feeding diet, and I am sure it helps some owners offer their dogs a variety of food and to know that the nutritional balance will be right too.
I can see that it would also be very useful for new owners or inexperienced dog owners who may lack confidence when trying to choose from the many products on offer these days.

Q3. In future, how likely are you to consider regularly feeding the full Pedigree® diet that your dog tested to your dog? If not the full diet, which particular products would you consider and why?

I don't think I will use the full diet although my dog is not a fussy eater and loved everything that was provided.
The treats were a bit on the small side and I don't normally use a lot of treats, so I probably would give these a miss.
The Dentastix were great so I would probably keep these as a healthy treat instead.
The dry food was great too and I liked the instructions on the side of the bag to help with measuring out the correct amount.
The wet food was gobbled up but the sachets are expensive so I probably wouldn't get these unless they were on special offer.

Q4. If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Pedigree® to other dog owners? If so, why? If not, why not?

Well, I would tell people that we did a trial of the full Pedigree diet and that it was well received, but I wouldn't recommend it as such because I think people need to decide what suits them, their lifestyle and the dog too.

Q5. What were your overall impressions of the Pedigree® Tracks app?

The app is great if you want to track that kind of thing. I didn't want to use it because we already have our exercise routine. I think if you were starting out as a new owner it could offer reassurance and confidence that you were doing the right thing for your dog. Nobody wants an overweight pet that is fed too much and under exercised so from that point of view its a great idea.

Q6. If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Pedigree® Tracks to other dog owners? If so, why? If not, why not?

I don't think I would recommend it as such but I would say that I knew about it and that it was available.
Apps are a strange thing, I think most people will have a range of Apps but only one or two that they use very regularly.

Q1. Were you aware of Pedigree® dog food before taking part in this product test? If so, have you ever purchased it before?

Yes, but not purchased before.
Q2. What are your overall impressions of the Pedigree® Complete Feeding diet your dog tested? We’d love your thoughts on the complete diet as well as the individual products.

Well my dog loves the food!! He really enjoys the wet food alongside the kibble. He liked the kibble so much he opened the box when it arrived.

Q3. In future, how likely are you to consider regularly feeding the full Pedigree® diet that your dog tested to your dog? If not the full diet, which particular products would you consider and why?

Yes, I would consider it. My dog enjoys it and looks well, and to be honest it has improved his wind :-)

Q4. If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Pedigree® to other dog owners? If so, why? If not, why not?

Yes I would.

Q5. What were your overall impressions of the Pedigree® Tracks app?

Bit confusing to be honest. It seemed to say my dog should have 1 pouch, but your guide said 4. I wouldn't use the exercise part.

Q6. If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Pedigree® Tracks to other dog owners? If so, why? If not, why not?

See answer to above

Maggie, Springer Spaniel, 15kg
Q1 Yes and Yes
Q2 Maggie is bounding around the dog cupboard in the morning for her dentastix. Although it does seem to curb her appetite for breakfast so I have made that a smaller meal (mix of dry and wet) and then more in the evening. She loves the treats, of course!, and is enjoying the plan overall I think. She does definately prefer the gravy than jelly pouches.
Q3 I am considering the meal plan overall to be honest, have yet to work out cost. Currently she is an Iams dog, as is her daughter whom we also have here. So if it was comparable I would consider it as Maggie is fussy and slow to meals normally and this does seem to be encouraging her more. Will be interesting to see if it's the variety or if she remains interested towards the end of the trial.
Q4 would seem she likes it and is keener to eat than normal. As I said remains to be seen if this stays this way, but if so, I can see myself recommending it for a fussy dog!
Q5 I set up the app to make sure I was serving Maggie the right portions, but have not been back on and don't imagine I would unless something major changed in her exercise or health. Not really likely to be uploading walks etc for her. I love her, but not so much I think I need to track her calorie intake!
Q6 if I knew someone obsessed with dogs and theirs was fat I may mention it, but unlikely to recommend otherwise.

Q1. Were you aware of Pedigree® dog food before taking part in this product test? If so, have you ever purchased it before?

Yes I was aware of Pedigree and had purchased it before.

Q2. What are your overall impressions of the Pedigree® Complete Feeding diet your dog tested? We’d love your thoughts on the complete diet as well as the individual products.

The diet was great.my dog loved every individual product and she would be fussy with food. We introduced the wet food slowly and she seemed to enjoy it.

Q3. In future, how likely are you to consider regularly feeding the full Pedigree® diet that your dog tested to your dog? If not the full diet, which particular products would you consider and why?
Yes I would consider feeding her the full diet.she enjoyed it and it seemed to respond well to treats.
Q4. If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Pedigree® to other dog owners? If so, why? If not, why not?

Yes I would definitely recommend it to anyone.it was easy to switch and I often see great deals on pedigree in my local shop.

Q5. What were your overall impressions of the Pedigree® Tracks app?

It was average. As my dog is over a certain age it wouldn't give specific advice or info.

Q6. If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Pedigree® Tracks to other dog owners? If so, why? If not, why not?

I probably wouldn't based on my experience.

Rufus, Border Terrier, Age 4. Medium Size Food.
Q1. Were you aware of Pedigree® dog food before taking part in this product test? If so, have you ever purchased it before?
Yes I was aware of it, no I've never bought it
Q2. What are your overall impressions of the Pedigree® Complete Feeding diet your dog tested? We’d love your thoughts on the complete diet as well as the individual products.
A very low quality budget feed, 4% meat and lots of fillers.
Q3. In future, how likely are you to consider regularly feeding the full Pedigree® diet that your dog tested to your dog? If not the full diet, which particular products would you consider and why?
No, because it's a low quality feed, this is VERY obvious in my dog's stomach's reaction to it, I will spare you the details but needless to say it's not been as neat and regular as usual.
Q4. If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Pedigree® to other dog owners? If so, why? If not, why not?
No, it's a cheap budget food made with low quality ingredients that aren't the optimum I could feed my pet.
Q5. What were your overall impressions of the Pedigree® Tracks app?
It didn't really fit in our with our lifestyle.
Q6. If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Pedigree® Tracks to other dog owners? If so, why? If not, why not?
No, as a dog (and horse) owner, in fact even as a human weight is largely irrelevant to health, condition scoring is a better way to judge if a dog needs more or less food.

Originally I was going to not feed it to him as it is very inferior to the dry kibble we currently feed, but I thought I had better trying it with him, he wasn't that keen on it but slowly ate it, I introduced it slowly as advised and it really upset his stomach, which didn't settle until I stopped feeding it.

I have been testing the food on my 5 month old Border Collie, Rocky. We've been trying the wet and dry complete puppy food and puppy dentatubos.

Q1. Were you aware of Pedigree® dog food before taking part in this product test? If so, have you ever purchased it before? Yes, it's been around for years. No never purchased it before.

Q2. What are your overall impressions of the Pedigree® Complete Feeding diet your dog tested? We’d love your thoughts on the complete diet as well as the individual products. My overall impressions are not that good TBH. I'm impressed with the amount of food we got, (wow)! And my dog really loved both the dry and wet pouches. But he loves to eat everything, really. After feeding him the Pedigree for 2 weeks, I've had to put him back on his old food. The Pedigree just didn't agree with him at all. He was vomiting regularly and had loads of diarrhea. He's never vomited before since we got him at 8 weeks. I do have loads of the food left now that I won't be feeding him.

Q3. In future, how likely are you to consider regularly feeding the full Pedigree® diet that your dog tested to your dog? If not the full diet, which particular products would you consider and why? No I won't be feeding him Pedigree again I'm afraid. See above for explanation.

Q4. If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Pedigree® to other dog owners? If so, why? If not, why not? No. I think the ingredients are quite poor.

Q5. What were your overall impressions of the Pedigree® Tracks app? It's a good, helpful app.

Q6. If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Pedigree® Tracks to other dog owners? If so, why? If not, why not? I'd recommend the app it's very helpful, not the food though.

BlackbirdSingsInTheDeadOfNight · 26/04/2016 20:18

Thank you for including Xanthe in this product test. She is a 4 month old Labrador puppy.

Q1 - yes I am well aware of Pedigree dog food (although, as mentioned by a PP, I also thought it was still called Pedigree Chum!). Xanthe has tried the dry food before.

Q2 - our overall impressions are very positive. We didn't receive any treats in our boxes (were they only for older dogs rather than puppies?), but we are very impressed with the dry and wet food and the dentastix. Xanthe loves all the food (so does our cat - she will go to any length to get a nibble!) and the dentastix as well. She hasn't had any tummy trouble at all and is as enthusiastic as ever at mealtimes!

Q3 - yes I think we will continue with the whole diet, definitely the dentastix and very likely the wet and dry food too. Ideally we'd like to use food that the cat enjoys eating a little less (!), but Xanthe clearly loves it and I think it's very likely that we'll stick with it.

Q4 - yes I would recommend Pedigree to other dog owners, due to Xanthe clearly liking it so much. It isn't the cheapest dog food on the market, but is nowhere near the most expensive.

Q5 - I am a technophobe and haven't used the app yet!

Q6 - possibly, but most of my dog owner friends have had dogs for generations and I think it's unlikely that they'd feel the need for an app.

Q1. Were you aware of Pedigree® dog food before taking part in this product test? If so, have you ever purchased it before?

Yes I was aware of Pedigree dog food. I have fed dentistix before.

Q2. What are your overall impressions of the Pedigree® Complete Feeding diet your dog tested?

I am introducing the Pedigree foods slowly. Ruby has only been on a diet of dry food in the past (Except when she sneaks the cats left overs). She loves the tasty bite treats, and has a dentistix each evening which she obviously sees as a treat,as she parades the room showing everyone before demolishing it.
She has had three packets of wet food so far and I'm not sure about it. Her breath has an unpleasant smell after eating it (She gobbles it very quickly) and this morning, had a 'wind' problem. She is managing the dry food fine but tis is what she is used to albeit a different brand.Q3Q3. In future, how likely are you to consider regularly feeding the full Pedigree® diet that your dog tested to your dog? If not the full diet, which particular products would you consider and why?Q3. Q3. In future, how likely are you to consider regularly feeding the full Pedigree® diet that your dog tested to your dog? If not the full diet, which particular products would you consider and why?

I will not be feeding the wet food to my dog in future. She is six years old and is very healthy on a dry food only diet. I would consider switching to Pedigree dry food and will certainly continue with dentistix. They are excellent for her teeth.

Q4. If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Pedigree® to other dog owners? If so, why? If not, why not?

I would certainly tell people about the trial. I have already recommended dentistix and would probably recommend the dry food.

Q5. What were your overall impressions of the Pedigree® Tracks app?

My son loaded the app on my phone, but I have to say I have not really used it. I just dont use any apps, so to me it was a problem.

Q6. If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Pedigree® Tracks to other dog owners? If so, why? If not, why not?

I couldn't recommend it as I haven't really managed to use it, but I would tell people about it and let them try for themeselves.

Q1. Were you aware of Pedigree® dog food before taking part in this product test? If so, have you ever purchased it before?

Yes my old dog who lived to age 21 used to have the biscuits - Jac my current dog has been having pedigree pouches since we got him first th puppy and then adult dogs.

Q2. What are your overall impressions of the Pedigree® Complete Feeding diet your dog tested? We’d love your thoughts on the complete diet as well as the individual products.

Jac has been enjoying the food - he already was used to the pouches but had another make of biscuits before - he has been enjoying the biscuits.

Of the treats included he LOVES the tasty bites (so do the cats who keep stealing them!)

He is not keen at all on the dental stix - and has refused to eat them.

Overall we are very pleased with the complete feeding diet and treats

Q3. In future, how likely are you to consider regularly feeding the full Pedigree® diet that your dog tested to your dog? If not the full diet, which particular products would you consider and why?

We will continue definitely with the pouches and the biscuits - we wont continue with the denta stix as he refuses to eat them and we will continue with the treats alongside other treats as occasional snacks.

Q4. If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Pedigree® to other dog owners? If so, why? If not, why not?

Yes - Jac loves it he has no behavioural issues and he is great condition

Q5. What were your overall impressions of the Pedigree® Tracks app?

I didn't really use the ap much - I kept forgetting to put it on and have to manually add in the exercise or I started the exercise and then I forget to turn it off!

It was useful for determining how much food to give Jac and to see how much exercise he actually needed to earn his treats.

Q6. If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Pedigree® Tracks to other dog owners? If so, why? If not, why not?

Probably not as I havent really been sticking with it - but thats not down to the ap being poor its down to me being forgetful

Q1. Were you aware of Pedigree® dog food before taking part in this product test? If so, have you ever purchased it before?
Yes I was aware of Pedigree. Hadn't used the food previously, just dentastix and treats.

Q2. What are your overall impressions of the Pedigree® Complete Feeding diet your dog tested? We’d love your thoughts on the complete diet as well as the individual products.
The wet food did seem good quality and well aimed at my dog (e.g. not human sounding/looking dishes that aren't as appealing to the dog). My dog really enjoyed the wet and dried food, however the difference in her poo was horrendous and I can't wait to ditch the wet food!! I think the complete diet is good and I liked fact it gives info for combined wet and dry diet or just dry (I have given combined for purpose of this product test but as I said, will be ditching the wet, much to my dogs dismay!) I like that there is a range of treats too and that guidance is given on how many they can have (this was also given on the app which was fab).

Q3. In future, how likely are you to consider regularly feeding the full Pedigree® diet that your dog tested to your dog? If not the full diet, which particular products would you consider and why?
I would definitely give the treats and dentastix. I like that there is a range of sizes for the dentastix, so you can choose size that suits your dog. I would consider giving the dried food as my dog did enjoy this but I am less keen on the wet, due to effect on her poos.

Q4. If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Pedigree® to other dog owners? If so, why? If not, why not?
Yes I would. I would recommend fact that guidance is given for quantities and that you can buy food specific for the size of your dog. I also felt that it was good quality. I like that you can given full range from their daily food to treats and oral care etc but still have guidance to know you aren't over feeding them.

Q5. What were your overall impressions of the Pedigree® Tracks app?
I really liked the app, I liked that I could input more details about my dog and get even more guidance on how much food to give, both daily and weekly (in terms of treats). I also liked that I could track how much exercise and that I could select what type of exercise she had had. I would only improve it by giving option to manually put in what type of exercise and how long too, because several occasions someone else took her out and I forgot to set it going, and so I wouldn't have that logged or would have to try to add it in by just setting it off and remembering to turn it off. It would also be good if you could sinc the app from other devices for same dog, e.g. my husband could have the app on his phone and me on mine, and then if he walked her it would still come up that she had had so much exercise etc.

Q6. If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Pedigree® Tracks to other dog owners? If so, why? If not, why not?
I would recommend it because it was good having information on how much to feed her and how much exercise and to track that she was getting enough, I would recommend it to people who don't use pedigree because the exercise part alone makes it well worth having.

Q1. Were you aware of Pedigree® dog food before taking part in this product test? If so, have you ever purchased it before?

Yes, we've used Pedigree dog food quite a lot in the past, but had stopped using it a couple of years ago as we found it was getting too expensive.

Q2. What are your overall impressions of the Pedigree® Complete Feeding diet your dog tested? We’d love your thoughts on the complete diet as well as the individual products.

My dog loves the food and all the products combined provides him with a good quality, well balanced diet. He particularly likes the meaty pouches, and runs round in circles when he can see/smell us preparing them for him!

Q3. In future, how likely are you to consider regularly feeding the full Pedigree® diet that your dog tested to your dog? If not the full diet, which particular products would you consider and why?

We are definitely considering feeding pedigree from now on - our dog loves it. The only thing we might not purchase would be the treats, as he needs to lose weight and is currently on a weight management plan at the vets.

Q4. If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Pedigree® to other dog owners? If so, why? If not, why not?

Yes I think I would, as the range of products available is great and they provide a well balanced diet for my dog.

Q5. What were your overall impressions of the Pedigree® Tracks app?

It is a handy app to have.

Q6. If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Pedigree® Tracks to other dog owners? If so, why? If not, why not?

Yes because it helps you keep track of your dogs food so that they aren't over/underfed and it's also great for reviewing their exercise and ensuring they get enough.

supermariossister · 26/04/2016 20:45

Q1. Were you aware of Pedigree® dog food before taking part in this product test? If so, have you ever purchased it before?
I was aware of pedigree dog food and have purchased treats and dry food, i have bought the wet food on occasion but it always seemed to coincide with eldest dog ( not the one who took part in this trial) struggling with digestive issues so i stopped buying and went onto dry food with only the occasional wet. We regularly purchase the treat and bones for both dogs.

Q2. What are your overall impressions of the Pedigree® Complete Feeding diet your dog tested? We’d love your thoughts on the complete diet as well as the individual products.

I was pleasantly suprised to be honest after hearing not brilliant things about pedigree, the apps and guide were easy to follow and informative without being overbearing so that was good, she seemed to look forward to meal times more straight from the off the only complaint id have is that they were a little small. previously they had both been having meaty chunks of dry food and i found she seemed to prefer the pedigree smaller dry food and because she rushes her food we have had problems with her before gulping the large chunks and them all coming back up again which hasnt happened at all on these. The dentastix went down well and although didnt last her long she seemed to like and look forward to - i really dont like the smell of them but this is irrelevant really just something i noticed. I have noticed that it hasnt had any effect on her digestion which i thought it would due to her not being a regular wet food eater but ive been pleasantly suprised there that there has been no ill effects during the food switchover or now that she is on a full pedigree diet. I dont really like giving the small treats unless out on a walk/training as she just gobbles them so i probably wouldnt buy them in the future but she did like them.

Q3. In future, how likely are you to consider regularly feeding the full Pedigree® diet that your dog tested to your dog? If not the full diet, which particular products would you consider and why?

I have been really suprised by how well she taken to the change in diet and that she seems to enjoy the meals and handle the size of the pieces more so i would certaintly buy the dry food again and the detastix, probably wouldnt bother with the small bags. The wet food i would buy but id like to be able to buy in tins/larger packs than 12 as with her needing 3/4 a day and then if i were to switch larger dog a pack wouldnt last longer than a couple of days and be really expensive and hard to transport home (no car, walk uphill) so id like to bulk buy when i had the option.

Q4. If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Pedigree® to other dog owners? If so, why? If not, why not?

Previously i wouldnt have done but now i would, particularly the dry food, its just the right size for ours.

Q5. What were your overall impressions of the Pedigree® Tracks app?

It was interesting to first use but its not something i would use regularly i dont think due to using other similar things like my fitness pal and fitbit to track walks and to not needing to change her diet reguarly i wouldnt have a need too.

Q6. If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Pedigree® Tracks to other dog owners? If so, why? If not, why not?

if they were new dog owners looking for advice possibly otherwise probably not as there isnt much to see and do, if it were more of an online dog community type sharing app then maybe more likely.

Thank you for the oppurtunity to trial this product i have been really pleasantly suprised!

Fifinella · 26/04/2016 20:45

Thank you for picking me for this; it was an exciting day unpacking all that dog food!

  1. Yes I was aware of Pedigree. We’ve bought the dentastix and various treats but not their main dog food.
  1. My dog (a medium size maltese shih-tzu) adores the food she’s had so far – which is the wet food, the dentastix and the little treats. We’ll be trying the dry food within the week and I’m looking forward to it. The dentastix she’s had before and the treats are great and a fab size for training (though I can see they’d be ridiculously small for a bigger dog!). So far though the real winner is the wet food (at the moment the more exciting flavours, beef and duck etc), she adores it. She’s always stared at us before feeding time but now she’ll try and lure us into the kitchen! We’re still mixing it in with her old solid food and she’ll pick all that yummy meat out of the boring discarded non-Pedigree dry food. I love the size and handiness of the wet food sachets and how it mixes in with the rest of the range. All the individual packaging feels very environmentally unfriendly, that’s my only negative.
  1. The wet food (obviously!) is a great favourite – if anything put us off it would be cost. We like the dentastix anyway and will keep buying them but the wet food is a real hit, the sachets are a great size for her and they smell so tasty I’m always tempted to go in and stare at her while she’s eating and see if she’ll share Wink
  1. Yes I’d recommend Pedigree. I’d always had it in my head Pedigree was unhealthy for dogs, I’m not sure why, but seeing how much she’s enjoyed the range we’ve been sent it’s really nice to see her getting such pleasure (albeit fleeting, it’s gone fast) from her food.
  1. The app helpful. I’m not a huge fan of anything that uses up precious photo space on my phone, but it’s handy for timing her time outside etc.
  1. Yes I’d recommend the app to someone, if they expressed a gap in their life for one of the things it provides! It’s nice to have a lot of the info at hand when you’re out and about with the dog, because that’s when I usually have most time to think about her!

We have a three year old Cocker Spaniel and were testing Pedigree Vital, the pouches, dental sticks and treats.

Were you aware of Pedigree® dog food before taking part in this product test? If so, have you ever purchased it before?

Yes - I think everyone has heard of Pedigree. This is the first time I have owned my own dog but I think we used Pedigree with my old family pets.

Q2. What are your overall impressions of the Pedigree® Complete Feeding diet your dog tested? We’d love your thoughts on the complete diet as well as the individual products.

I think it is good to have a mixture of foods. Previously we were feeding our dog one type and she seemed very uninterested in it. She absolutely loves the wet food and I think mixing it with the dry gives her good variety. I think the only thing that is missing is some decent treat biscuits - the treats we were provided are not very substantial and are gone in a flash. My dog does like the dental chews too.

Q3. In future, how likely are you to consider regularly feeding the full Pedigree® diet that your dog tested to your dog? If not the full diet, which particular products would you consider and why?

I definitely plan to continue with the full diet, supplemented with some nice dog biscuit treats as appropriate.

Q4. If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Pedigree® to other dog owners? If so, why? If not, why not?

Yes I would. The products seem good and my dog really likes them. I would say that most dogs would be happy with something out of the range.

Q5. What were your overall impressions of the Pedigree® Tracks app?

I found it a bit something and nothing to be honest. I used it to determine what to feed the dog but otherwise found the content a bit weak. I have not been back to it after the initial use as I did not find anything that made me want to use it more than once.

Q6. If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Pedigree® Tracks to other dog owners? If so, why? If not, why not?

Only to understand feeding options - otherwise nothing to recommend really.

Flybygirly29 · 26/04/2016 20:53

Ted my four year old Border Terrier absolutely loves the new food! It fills him up and even prefers it to our food he's stopped begging completely!

Q2 Ted loves it! He normally only has dry food which he will snack on rather than Hoover down but with the pedigree he licks the bowl! The complete diet is so easy to use with the app it's a great idea! I love the pouches as it's easy to do portion control!
Q3 we would definitely consider moving onto the complete diet apart from the dentastix as he eats them so fast they don't have a chance to clean his teeth
Q4 yes! The food looks to be good quality and the app makes the diet easy to follow
Q5 I thought it was good to set up how much to feed etc but have only used it once to get that information but find I don't really need it once I've got that info
Q6 yes when setting up the portion sizes it's useful

Q1. Were you aware of Pedigree® dog food before taking part in this product test? If so, have you ever purchased it before?

I was aware, but had not purchased (although I hadn't seen the treats before). We had purchased dentastix before.

Q2. What are your overall impressions of the Pedigree® Complete Feeding diet your dog tested? We’d love your thoughts on the complete diet as well as the individual products.

We love it! Scrappy loved the treats and dentastix, although she is not a food motivated dog. We saved her treats for when she needed to be groomed to reward her for laying nicely. She loved the meat and it didn't smell as awful as it sometimes can. Her problem was eating it before the cats got there!

The dry food seemed to last a long time when we had put it down, probably because she was filling up on the wet food.

Q3. In future, how likely are you to consider regularly feeding the full Pedigree® diet that your dog tested to your dog? If not the full diet, which particular products would you consider and why?

We are very likely to continue feeding this diet.

Q4. If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Pedigree® to other dog owners? If so, why? If not, why not?

Yes, we would recommend, based on the fact that my fussy dog enjoyed it.

Q5. What were your overall impressions of the Pedigree® Tracks app?

It was good to start with, but I kept forgetting to use it. I would remember for runs and walks, but forget about playing in the garden.

Q6. If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Pedigree® Tracks to other dog owners? If so, why? If not, why not?

Yes, if they were looking for something like that. It's probably more useful when you're getting used to a new dog, or if you have weight issues.

I was aware of Pedigree dog food before the trial, and have used the complete diet and dentstix with previous dogs. I have two dogs and I am feeding the Pedigree products to my younger dog, Archie a 1 year old miniature dachshund, or so I thought! My chihuahua, Huggy, had different ideas and refused his own food as well as stealing Archie's when he could😈. So, I purchased a supply of Pedigree products for Huggy and calm has now been restored.

So far Archie has woofed his food down and there is plenty of tail wagging at meal times! He loves the dentstix which he has before bedtime, usually barking for more. I have been using the treats for training, and again these have proved to be very popular. The transition between Archie's previous food to Pedigree was easy and didn't cause a problem. Archie's coat is lovely, soft and full of shine, and he looks in very good condition. He is full of beans all of the time and appears a very happy and cheeky boy!

I will keep to the Pedigree complete and pouches, although they are quite expensive. I will also keep using the dentstix and treats, as these are the ideal size as I have to keep an eye on Archie's weight, but also he adores them. I will also continue to feed my other mutt with the Pedigree products as he really enjoys them too.

I would definitely recommend Pedigree products to friends, as my dogs have had such a good experience with them. I have to confess that I've not used the app yet, so can't comment on this so far. I promise to set it up tomorrow!

Thank you for the opportunity to try Pedigree, Archie and Huggy really do appreciate it!

Q1. Were you aware of Pedigree® dog food before taking part in this product test? If so, have you ever purchased it before?

Yes, I was aware. It's not a brand I've fed before apart from the (very) occasional treat as I generally feed a raw convenience food.

Q2. What are your overall impressions of the Pedigree® Complete Feeding diet your dog tested? We’d love your thoughts on the complete diet as well as the individual products.

I was impressed by the smell of the food - it smelt very meaty without being 'dog foody' and the meat content must be decent because our cats also came running every time we opened a sachet, which never usually happens with dog food. Pouches are convenient, but it would be useful if Pedigree considered larger pouches for larger pooches (ha, use that as a tagline!) - our dog was suggested to have 4 pouches a day (he no way got that much...) and it would mean boxes everywhere to save going to the shops regularly. As we are low on storage space, this sort of thing would make a real difference to us.

I would also like to see more options to buy boxes of particular flavours. One of my dogs (not testing) is intolerant to chicken and beef products, and it would make it difficult to buy multipacks if we didn't have other dogs to eat these flavours. I know chicken is quite a common allergy nowadays.

Our dog loved the food, both meat, biscuit and treats. The meat was a definite favourite though. It did make him VERY farty, however and we regularly have evenings of meaty farts which doesn't make him particularly appealing.

Q3. In future, how likely are you to consider regularly feeding the full Pedigree® diet that your dog tested to your dog? If not the full diet, which particular products would you consider and why?

I'd continue buying the treats to shove in pockets for walks - these were great. We will be sticking to our normal brand, however, as it seems to agree with our dog more (and reduces our need for gas masks). I would consider buying the pouches again as a convenience food if we were going away with Dog, however.

Q4. If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Pedigree® to other dog owners? If so, why? If not, why not?

Possibly. As a suggestion for a very fussy eater, as I think the gravy pouches would be quite appealing, but I have my own preferences.

Q5. What were your overall impressions of the Pedigree® Tracks app?
Very useful in helping swap dogs over to a new diet if you've not done it before, and for novice owners. It had the usual issue of over estimating how much the average dog needs to be fed, which is standard with a lot of dog food companies - my dog is a breed prone to weight gain and bloat, and we would have real issues following the estimates for his food as suggested.

Q6. If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Pedigree® Tracks to other dog owners? If so, why? If not, why not?

Unsure. I think it can be a useful guide for a very novice and unsure owner, but I would also give guidance about it overestimating food, and how to judge based on dog's breed, energy levels, walks and routine, etc.

Tested by Pugsley a 6yr old pug cross

Q1. Were you aware of Pedigree® dog food before taking part in this product test?
If so, have you ever purchased it before?

Yes and yes

Q2. What are your overall impressions of the Pedigree® Complete Feeding diet your dog tested? We’d love your thoughts on the complete diet as well as the individual products.

Overall I thought the complete diet was good, my dog enjoyed the food especially the pouches and dental sticks although she was less keen on the dry food and cheesey bites.

Q3. In future, how likely are you to consider regularly feeding the full Pedigree® diet that your dog tested to your dog? If not the full diet, which particular products would you consider and why?

I would definitely incorporate the dental sticks as my dog has tried other brands but these are the first she has liked. I am undecided about the pouches, my dog really enjoyed them but her poops are firmer on her current diet of chappie.

Q4. If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Pedigree® to other dog owners? If so, why? If not, why not?

I would recommend them as my dog enjoyed the pouches, tasty bites and dental sticks and she did not have an upset tummy as she has from some other foods.

Q5. What were your overall impressions of the Pedigree® Tracks app?

Overall it was good but not something I would use personally.

Q6. If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Pedigree® Tracks to other dog owners? If so, why? If not, why not?

Probably not as it was not my cup of tea, I do obviously use the Internet but I don't use very many apps.

My dog is a small breed, 2yr old and we have the dry, wet sachets, dentistix, and treats.

Q1. Were you aware of Pedigree® dog food before taking part in this product test? If so, have you ever purchased it before?
I'm very aware of Pedigree dog food (who isn't?), only bought the dentistix before.

Q2. What are your overall impressions of the Pedigree® Complete Feeding diet your dog tested? We’d love your thoughts on the complete diet as well as the individual products.

First off the dog is a dustbin so it's hard to gage whether she likes it more or less than her usual diet which is just dry food. I would say though the wet food as a bit smelly! We've used the dentistix before and like them as they take a bit longer than 10 seconds for her to consume.

Q3. In future, how likely are you to consider regularly feeding the full Pedigree® diet that your dog tested to your dog? If not the full diet, which particular products would you consider and why?

I doubt we'll keep up the wet food, we may put the odd bit in to stop the food boredom. To be honest it's price dependant and I'm guessing that the pedigree dry food is more expensive than our usual. I try to avoid treats (give her carrots or apples instead), but would carry on giving her the dentistix as we have used them before.

Q4. If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Pedigree® to other dog owners? If so, why? If not, why not?
Hard one to answer. I have a dog that will eat anything, I can't tell whether she likes it so I'm not sure what I'd base my recommendation on.

Q5. What were your overall impressions of the Pedigree® Tracks app?
I found it useful for getting an idea of how much food she should be getting on a different diet although I think it resulted in her getting more food so I've adjusted it slightly. I've not used it on a walk as I always forget until mid way through. Hopefully I'll give it a go one day as I'm interested to see the results. However I doubt it would be something I'd use more than a couple of times.

Q6. If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Pedigree® Tracks to other dog owners? If so, why? If not, why not?
Probably not as I haven't remembered to use it to its full potential myself.

Q1.Were you aware of Pedigree® dog food before taking part in this product test? If so, have you ever purchased it before?

Yes I was. I have purchased the dry food and also different treats like shmackos etc

Q2. What are your overall impressions of the Pedigree® Complete Feeding diet your dog tested? We’d love your thoughts on the complete diet as well as the individual products.

I think it is a very good, extensive range and that the individual products compliment each other well. The pouches seem great quality with real meat chunks and don't have an awful smell like some wet food we have tried before. It seems wholesome and a great component of our dogs diet. The dry food is a good size and consistency and the colour of it is natural looking and fresh. The treats are bite sized and great for training and general rewards. My dog enjoys these very much. The dentistix provide a great distraction for him and are very well made. They don't flake into small chunks that need hoovering afterwards and his breath is actually a lot fresher now than before testing them out!
Q3. In future, how likely are you to consider regularly feeding the full Pedigree® diet that your dog tested to your dog? If not the full diet, which particular products would you consider and why?

I would definitely consider using the whole diet range. My dog seems very happy in himself and has bundles of energy. I think it is also great for his digestive system. He is more regular Blush than he was before but In a good way! He definitely seems happier in that he is jumping around and wagging his tail abit more than before. Maybe his previous food wasn't agreeing with his tummy.
Q4. If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Pedigree® to other dog owners? If so, why? If not, why not?

I would definitely recommend it to other dog owners. It's so easy to use. The pouches are really handy and are portion controlled so (along with the tracks app) you know exactly what your dog needs and how to give it to them. My dog really enjoys the food. He has been fussy in the past but he absolutely wolfs this down. It's so nice to see him happy and healthy and enjoying his food.

Q5. What were your overall impressions of the Pedigree® Tracks app?
I think it's great. It's easy to use. I like how you can add your dogs name, age, weight and pictures etc. You can time the exercise your dog has had that day and know how much more they need. It's definitely useful!

Q6. If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Pedigree® Tracks to other dog owners? If so, why? If not, why not?
Yes I definitely would do. It's so easy to forget how much food your dog has had or the amount of exercise. This is a great tool for finding how much food your dog needs. Fantastic. One very happy pooch!

We were aware of Pedigree but hadn't tried it yet - we are very new to being dog owners, he's only 11 months old. He's not a fan of the dry, but is wolfing down the sachets, so we have to do one in two sections to slow him down. We tried mixing in some dry, but he didn't buy it. Saying that, though, he does have some quirks with eating and changes his mind regularly. We haven't tried the treats as we are in the middle of training, and have specific food as an indicator so didn't want to mess with the system at this crucial stage. I don't think I'd try them until he's much bigger. If anything we'd carry on with the pouches, but I'm not sure if these are any better than the cheaper ones we get in bulk from the dentist anyway. I'd have to try it for longer to be sure it was doing some specific good for his health. I'm too new to this to be recommending brands (we've really only tried three brands at all!) but I don't have anything bad to say about it as a brand at all. I had loads of hassle faffing about with the app, more to do with my technophobia and reluctance to engage with phone culture. Couldn't see the point in it - not my cup of tea at all, but then I still had a nokia until last year...
