Q1. Were you aware of Pedigree® dog food before taking part in this product test? If so, have you ever purchased it before?
Yes, I was aware. It's not a brand I've fed before apart from the (very) occasional treat as I generally feed a raw convenience food.
Q2. What are your overall impressions of the Pedigree® Complete Feeding diet your dog tested? We’d love your thoughts on the complete diet as well as the individual products.
I was impressed by the smell of the food - it smelt very meaty without being 'dog foody' and the meat content must be decent because our cats also came running every time we opened a sachet, which never usually happens with dog food. Pouches are convenient, but it would be useful if Pedigree considered larger pouches for larger pooches (ha, use that as a tagline!) - our dog was suggested to have 4 pouches a day (he no way got that much...) and it would mean boxes everywhere to save going to the shops regularly. As we are low on storage space, this sort of thing would make a real difference to us.
I would also like to see more options to buy boxes of particular flavours. One of my dogs (not testing) is intolerant to chicken and beef products, and it would make it difficult to buy multipacks if we didn't have other dogs to eat these flavours. I know chicken is quite a common allergy nowadays.
Our dog loved the food, both meat, biscuit and treats. The meat was a definite favourite though. It did make him VERY farty, however and we regularly have evenings of meaty farts which doesn't make him particularly appealing.
Q3. In future, how likely are you to consider regularly feeding the full Pedigree® diet that your dog tested to your dog? If not the full diet, which particular products would you consider and why?
I'd continue buying the treats to shove in pockets for walks - these were great. We will be sticking to our normal brand, however, as it seems to agree with our dog more (and reduces our need for gas masks). I would consider buying the pouches again as a convenience food if we were going away with Dog, however.
Q4. If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Pedigree® to other dog owners? If so, why? If not, why not?
Possibly. As a suggestion for a very fussy eater, as I think the gravy pouches would be quite appealing, but I have my own preferences.
Q5. What were your overall impressions of the Pedigree® Tracks app?
Very useful in helping swap dogs over to a new diet if you've not done it before, and for novice owners. It had the usual issue of over estimating how much the average dog needs to be fed, which is standard with a lot of dog food companies - my dog is a breed prone to weight gain and bloat, and we would have real issues following the estimates for his food as suggested.
Q6. If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Pedigree® Tracks to other dog owners? If so, why? If not, why not?
Unsure. I think it can be a useful guide for a very novice and unsure owner, but I would also give guidance about it overestimating food, and how to judge based on dog's breed, energy levels, walks and routine, etc.
