Matalan are looking for 250 Mumsnetters with a child aged 3-13 to try out an item of uniform clothing from their “Teflon Stain Resistant” range.

Here’s what Matalan say. “Our Teflon stain resistant coating is designed to repel water and stains, restricting stains from absorbing into the fabric. We know kids will be kids and we want to help you keep them looking smart for school and make sure their school uniform lasts.”

Selected testers will receive an online voucher including a barcode allowing them to select one item from the specified range for free. Testers can either present the voucher using their mobile phone or print off their voucher and use it in store. The selected items will be available in all Matalan stores. You can call ahead to your nearest store to check stock availability – find your store’s contact details here: www.matalan.co.uk/stores. Please note only this product test is limited to one child per household.

Testers will be free to select their size and colour preference. Please note that the vouchers will only be valid from 4th-16th April, so selected testers must purchase their item between those dates. For a full range of the products on offer, please see below:

Testers will test the products over a three week period and will be required to leave their feedback on a thread on Mumsnet as well as completing a short survey.

All testers who complete all forms of feedback will be entered into a prize draw where one tester will win a £300 Love2Shop voucher.

I went to 2 stores, I mad a special trip to the first one and all they had was a very small selection of grey dresses and skirts and dd can't wear grey. It took 2 calls, and around 20 minutes to get through to a different store 15/20 minutes away who said they didn't have the dress that I wanted but had a different style so I said that will be fine.

Drove to the next one and it was actually the dress that I needed so that was great. Except they couldn't get the code to work, I was asked by 3 different members of staff if I was sure that I'd picked the right item up, so I said it was on the link from the email and it is Teflon.

A manager eventually put it though somehow and wrote on my receipt that it was a Mumsnet one, even though it said it on it 3 times where they'd tried to put the voucher through.

Vouchers should work correctly from tomorrow.

Mine seemed to work ok, although I had to zoom on my phone screen and blow it up bigger. Was suprised it did work to be honest.

DS went to school sporting his new trousers and was very happy with them. Am yet to wash & iron them through. Has the feedback thread gone out yet?

Off to matalan to hopefully use my voucher for trousers this morning. Fingers crossed...

Stopped off after work to pick up some trousers for ds2. Plenty of stuff to choose from so I opted for grey cargo style ones as he doesn't have any like that.

I'd printed off the voucher so it was reasonably painless except I had to sign up for a Matalan card. I didn't know if that was strictly necessary but as it was a freebie I wasn't about to argue the toss!

Will look out for the feedback thread. It'll be nice for ds2 to have something new. He has an older brother and 2 older cousins at the school so lives in a lot of hand-me-downs!

I got my daughter some lovely shorts that look like a skirt and it looks amazing on!
I'm not really a skirt loving mama because I'm not comfortable with my LG flashing her knickers when she cartwheels around the playground but I'm SO glad I found these! They're brill.
Can't comment on the wash yet as I haven't washed them but just wanted to throw that in there!
Can't believe how lovely all the matalan uniform was, will definitely be going there for the childrens uniforms for this sept.
The PE stuff looks brilliant too!

i went to my local Matalan on 11/04 and had a look at the uniform its range was okay it had a couple of bits i could choose for my dd and in the end chose a pair of black shorts for her to wear to school , had no problem using my voucher

I have been trying to email Zane who sent the email with the voucher, but it keeps bouncing back.

Here is my email;

Dear Zane

I have tried on three occasions now to redeem my voucher for an item to test. unfortunately the store in Reading has had nothing in my daughters size. I looked for trousers, shirts, polo's, skirts, shorts etc., but nothing in a 10 or 11 in her school colours.

I did ask the store if I could order an item in or they would be getting anymore stock, but they unhelpful and just said all they had was out and they didn't know what as coming in on deliveries. So I have had three wasted journey to try and buy items. Its a sham as I needed a re stock of uniform and would have purchased several other items. It also meant that I put back other clothing items I had picked out for my daughter.

Therefore as I can't order online with the voucher it looks like I am unable to participate, although I think the feedback about lack of availability and staff disinterest in customer queries should be passed on.

I was unable to use my voucher and test any school uniform. My local Matalan only stocks uniform for a limited time and I was unable to obtain any of the sizes I required online!
