Matalan are looking for 250 Mumsnetters with a child aged 3-13 to try out an item of uniform clothing from their “Teflon Stain Resistant” range.

Here’s what Matalan say. “Our Teflon stain resistant coating is designed to repel water and stains, restricting stains from absorbing into the fabric. We know kids will be kids and we want to help you keep them looking smart for school and make sure their school uniform lasts.”

Selected testers will receive an online voucher including a barcode allowing them to select one item from the specified range for free. Testers can either present the voucher using their mobile phone or print off their voucher and use it in store. The selected items will be available in all Matalan stores. You can call ahead to your nearest store to check stock availability – find your store’s contact details here: www.matalan.co.uk/stores. Please note only this product test is limited to one child per household.

Testers will be free to select their size and colour preference. Please note that the vouchers will only be valid from 4th-16th April, so selected testers must purchase their item between those dates. For a full range of the products on offer, please see below:

Testers will test the products over a three week period and will be required to leave their feedback on a thread on Mumsnet as well as completing a short survey.

All testers who complete all forms of feedback will be entered into a prize draw where one tester will win a £300 Love2Shop voucher.

Excited to try this. Getting DS kitted out this week.

Went to Matalan this morning & made my purchase with the voucher which went smoothly (always a bonus! ). Was very happy with the range of different styles and fit. Will report back when DH goes back to school on Monday

I was delighted to be chosen but my local Matalan had no navy school uniform at all and when I looked online the one navy skirt on the website does not fit the criteria for the (has to be Teflon) . Vdisappointed with the selection from Matalan.

Ilikesweetpeas - thats not good . I would have presumed Navy is as standard as grey/black. Matalan should have stated that when we applied.

In Matalan atm and none of the Teflon stain resistant styles on show are able to be bought with the voucher. 4 styles of skirts and 4 styles of dresses and none are compatible.
The floor manager is phoning around other stores to see if they have any items.
The skirt I want is in store and is on the link sent by Mumsnet but we can't have it...
The store were convinced they wouldn't have any Mumsnet customers! Bet they wish I hadn't turned up now!
Customer service is good!

I only looked at the trousers and there were quite a few different styles to choose from and there were all from the Teflon range so I could have used my voucher with any of them. Looks like its not going to go so smoothly for others trying to get theirs.

Back from Matalan empty handed, however there was a message from the floor manager who had phoned around a few stores for us. The clothing codes for all stores have been updated and from tomorrow a larger range will be available (including the Teflon coated stain resistant skirt we wanted) so it may be worth a trek back to Matalan for others who have had problems.

Just been to Matalan and also had issues using the voucher. The item I wanted (grey box pleat skirt) was in their Teflon range and included on the web link that was sent but the voucher wasn't valid for the product. In the end the checkout supervisor just applied a discretionary discount and gave me the item for free but it took about 15mins to sort out. This and one of the pinafore dresses were the only items the store had in stock anyway (and only in grey) so there wasn't much choice anyway.
