This thread is for the 15 Mumsnetters who are testing out beds by Slumberland. Testers were able to choose from a range of mattresses and between a double (135cm) or king size (250cm) Divan Set.

Here’s what Slumberland have to say, "Here at Slumberland we know the importance of sleep as a part of a healthy lifestyle, when you have the best night’s sleep possible, you live longer, look better, feel better, concentrate more and perform better at work and play. We understand how the quality of your bed can affect your sleep. Slumberland mattresses are made using a blend of four innovative materials, so that every aspect of your sleep is nurtured.”

Testers: We'll be asking you to add feedback three times- we'd like your first impressions now and your experience of choosing the bed, and we will add some more questions after you've had a little bit of time to test it out.

So, to start, Slumberland would love to know:

-Which mattress and bed size did you choose?
-What was important to you when choosing your new bed?
-How easy was the process of choosing your bed, and how would you rate your experience at the factory?
-What are your first impressions of your new bed?
-So far, do you think that your bed will improve the quality of your sleep, and why?

Now that you've had a week or two to get used to your new bed, we have a few more questions that we'd like to ask:

  • How would you describe your experience of the delivery of your bed?
  • Do you feel as though your quality of sleep has changed since receiving your new bed?
  • What's the most positive thing about your new bed?
  • So far, are you pleased with the quality and look of your new bed?

Finally, now that you've had your beds for a month or more, we'd like you to answer these questions:

  • Please describe the effect that it has had on your quality of sleep (and that of your partner if applicable).
  • Would you recommend a Slumberland Mattress to your best friend?
  • If you were to buy a bed again in the future, would you consider buying a Slumberland mattress?

Please note: your anonymous comments may be used by Slumberland on their website and other marketing materials.

Thanks,
MNHQ

Congratulations 5madthings! What a lovely baby!
I just popped back to update - turning the mattress was a doddle, had worried it was going to be a real struggle, as it turns out I was worrying unnecessarily.
I have since bought a new mattress protector which fits much better and the bed just feels better and better.
Want one in every bedroom now!

namelessboy · 09/04/2016 18:53

How would you describe your experience of the delivery of your bed?
Very good. I was told they would ring an hour or so before delivery and they rang when they were 40 minutes away. They lugged the huge mattress and then the divan upstairs and set them up quickly, and took all the packaging away. They even took their boots off (I didn’t ask) - a hot topic on MN I know!

Do you feel as though your quality of sleep has changed since receiving your new bed?
Yes, I think it has improved. We seem to fall asleep quicker and sleep very soundly (when not woken up by DCs!). I also don’t seem to move around as much in my sleep or get as hot. DH hasn’t been complaining about an achey neck/shoulder since the new bed arrived either.

What's the most positive thing about your new bed?
The feel of the mattress as you get into bed, it’s just so sumptuous!

So far, are you pleased with the quality and look of your new bed?
Yes, it’s obviously a very high quality mattress. It’s very very deep. It manages to feel so soft when you lie down, but without that ”sinking” feeling that usually comes with a very soft mattress. I can feel DH/DCs get in/out of bed but my side of the bed does not bounce/move when they do. I also really like the spotty pattern on the mattress, it’s modern and fun.

Many thanks to Slumberland/Mumsnet!

Ps congratulations 5madthings

happylittlevegemites · 17/04/2016 08:27

How would you rate the delivery experience - stressful!! But that wasn't the fault of the delivery men, rather my rubbish mobile reception, my not-quote potty trained toddler #1 and tantrumtastic toddler #2.

Do you feel your quality of sleep has changed - it's hard to say - we have been a house of illness these last two months so we have all been sleeping badly. That's how come I've taken so long to post the review ... I was hoping that we would all be better by now!

What's the most positive thing about your new bed - the mattress looks and feels like a high quality product. My husband says he likes the feeling when he first sinks into it. Oh, and the toddlers ADORE that video thingy we were given in the factory!

So far, are you pleased with the quality and look of the bed? Of the mattress - certainly. Of the base - it seems good quality. Personally, I don't like the look of divans but that is just my personal preference. We have now moved the new mattress onto our sleigh bed, and put our old mattress on the slumberland base in the spare room. I plan to put a valance on it.

Finally - 5madhings your baby is SO BEAUTIFUL!! Congratulations.

My sleep has improved my partner's has stayed the same. The mattress seems softe now than when we first got it.

-Would you recommend a Slumberland Mattress to your best friend?

Yes.

-If you were to buy a bed again in the future, would you consider buying a Slumberland mattress?

Yes although if you like very firm mattresses the Serene might not be for you.

FluffyBunny1234 · 26/04/2016 09:57

Please describe the effect that it has had on your quality of sleep
It's amazing I love it so much the only downside is I can't sleep anywhere else now ! No one has beds as comfortable as this
Would you recommend a Slumberland Mattress to your best friend? yes and I have been recommending it. my parents are probably going to buy one soon. I let everyone who comes round test it out as well !
If you were to buy a bed again in the future, would you consider buying a Slumberland mattress
Yes definitely like I said I can't sleep on anything else now

Jitterybug · 26/04/2016 11:48

-Please describe the effect that it has had on your quality of sleep (and that of your partner if applicable).
I am continuously amazed at the effect the mattress has had on my sleep; I am sleeping deeper and for longer. My partner suffers from a bad back which used to be very painful in the mornings, that pain has now virtually gone.

-Would you recommend a Slumberland Mattress to your best friend?
Yes and already have done to anyone who will listen.

-If you were to buy a bed again in the future, would you consider buying a Slumberland mattress?
Yes, I didn’t appreciate how much a good mattress can change your quality of sleep until now.

Thanks again for the opportunity to test the mattress and bed; I appreciate it every single night as I get in to bed.

wombattoo · 26/04/2016 20:11

-Please describe the effect that it has had on your quality of sleep (and that of your partner if applicable)
The bed is very comfortable. For years my hips and lower back have ached, but since the new bed it has almost been eliminated. My DH has been very impressed with the comfort and reports he is sleeping better than ever and has a better quality of sleep.
-Would you recommend a Slumberland Mattress to your best friend?
Yes most definitely. I have told everyone how comfortable it is
-If you were to buy a bed again in the future, would you consider buying a Slumberland mattress?
Without a doubt. The quality speaks for itself.

Thank you mumsnet and Slumberland. It has been an amazing experience

Pickofthepops · 26/04/2016 20:58

Please describe the effect that it has had on your quality of sleep (and that of your partner if applicable).

I'm in love with our new bed! It is really like sleeping in a brand new bed every night. I know it's not yet remotely anything other than new but it just feels so fresh and luxuriously firm. Yet it is cosy too. I look forward to going to bed and despite being poorly and having an often nocturnal 18 month old still, I am feeling much more rested. Husband has had time to get used to it too, he takes longer to adjust. He has frequently co,melted in what a good night's sleep he has had.

-Would you recommend a Slumberland Mattress to your best friend?

Most definitely. I have recommended a school playground friend based mainly on the depth of mattress but obviously comfort and luxury feeling too.

-If you were to buy a bed again in the future, would you consider buying a Slumberland mattress?

Most definitely.

Thanks so much again for picking us.

IBelieveInPink · 27/04/2016 22:23

-Please describe the effect that it has had on your quality of sleep (and that of your partner if applicable).
Me: I used to struggle to drop off to sleep, I've found that because I am so comfortable in bed I actually fall asleep quicker too.
In addition, I sleep more soundly. I've noticed that I now regularly sleep straight through the night, where as I was very used to waking a lot to get comfortable. If I do wake now I don't remember it, as I sleep so soundly.
DH; I sleep much better. My lower back no longer hurts. I no longer wake up and roll over several times a night. I slept in a hotel bed this week and couldn't wait to get back to my own bed, it's so, so much better.

-Would you recommend a Slumberland Mattress to your best friend?
Yes, definitely.

-If you were to buy a bed again in the future, would you consider buying a Slumberland mattress?
Yes I would. I didn't realise how much difference it would make to my sleep, but now I know, I can't go back!

Thank you so much for the opportunity to be involved, it has honestly changed my life!

IBelieveInPink · 27/04/2016 22:58

Oh just remembered.... One problem we have... The cat is also a massive fan of the bed! Since we got it it's his favourite place to snooze, day or night.

Don't suppose slumberland could come up with a cat bed so we can have ours back? Grin

Chippednailvarnish · 27/04/2016 23:10

Please describe the effect that it has had on your quality of sleep (and that of your partner if applicable)
We both get to sleep quicker and compared to a previous memory foam mattress, the bed is much cooler. My DH has really reduced his teeth grinding in his sleep too.

Would you recommend a Slumberland Mattress to your best friend?
Yes!

If you were to buy a bed again in the future, would you consider buying a Slumberland mattress?
I definitely would, I am very happy with the bed it's great.

Steben · 28/04/2016 12:25

Please describe the effect that it has had on your quality of sleep (and that of your partner if applicable).

I can with all honesty say I am sleeping better than I have in years. I would say this is mainly down to two factors. The first is the support and comfort of the bed, I am no longer uncomfortable and tossing and turning. The second major factor is that my partner is not waking me up by moving about, I can feel the bed move when he shifts. My husband also says the same things, although he does say he feels really warm in the new bed and we have switched to a lesser tog duvet as we are both feeling hotter.

  • Would you recommend a Slumberland Mattress to your best friend?

I certainly would, without hesitation. The reason why is that customer service has been really good and I am really pleased with the look and feel of the bed as well as the comfort.

  • If you were to buy a bed again in the future, would you consider buying a Slumberland mattress?

Yes I would. From my time at the factory shop it is clear they are putting the latest in research and technology into their mattress design. I think as a society we do not value sleep enough and the detrimental effect not enough sleep can have should be recognised more widely. By investing in a quality product by a good brand such as Slumberland you are making an informed choice which will benefit your well being.

Stopmithering · 05/05/2016 21:51

-Please describe the effect that it has had on your quality of sleep (and that of your partner if applicable)

I would definitely say that the quality of my sleep has improved markedly. I don't think I'm necessarily sleep significantly longer (years of sleep routine following children is difficult to change), but I am not waking numerous times in the night to move myself out of an uncomfortable position, am not taking ages to settle and fall asleep, and am waking up feeling far less achey. Partner agrees completely. We both feel refreshed and happy to be sleeping in such a comfy bed. We are still commenting every night how fantastic it is.

-Would you recommend a Slumberland Mattress to your best friend?

Without hesitation. So far, I am really very impressed and already have been telling whoever will listen that my Slumberland bed is fabulous.

-If you were to buy a bed again in the future, would you consider buying a Slumberland mattress?

Yes. I would be very tempted. I am currently looking for a bed for my daughter. My only problem seems to be locating a nearby shop which stocks Slumberland beds.

I am still thrilled with this bed and am finding any opportunity at the moment to go and have a little lie down, read a book etc, just to make as much use of it as I can!

Thank you Slumberland and Mumsnet. Proper big thanks!

namelessboy · 08/05/2016 11:39

Please describe the effect that it has had on your quality of sleep (and that of your partner if applicable)

We’re both sleeping soundly. I fall asleep as soon as my head hits the pillow even if I have a lot on my mind (it used to take me longer to switch off). Although I’m awake several times a night to feed DS and settle my youngest DD I am straight back to sleep. My DH’s niggly shoulder has not been bothering him since the new mattress arrived. It also doesn't feel as high as when it first arrived now that we're used to it.

Would you recommend a Slumberland Mattress to your best friend?

Absolutely! It’s very comfortable, incredibly soft but still firm enough.

If you were to buy a bed again in the future, would you consider buying a Slumberland mattress?

Yes definitely, this trial has shown me that you really get what you pay for with a mattress, and considering how much time you spend asleep it’s worth investing in the best you can afford.

Thank you very much to Slumberland and Mumsnet Smile

Oops, I thought I'd done my last feedback...

Finally, now that you've had your beds for a month or more, we'd like you to answer these questions:

-Please describe the effect that it has had on your quality of sleep (and that of your partner if applicable).
I have certainly felt more comfortable whilst sleeping...Dh thinks that getting up when the children wake up is, if anything, more tortuous now that we have such a lovely bed! Ditto those nights where you end up for hours in a toddler bed that's really not made for adult weight...do Slumberland make them in miniature? Grin
-Would you recommend a Slumberland Mattress to your best friend?
Yes, absolutely, if they had the budget, I'd definitely be suggesting it! (Most of my friends have had a lie on the new bed anyway, as we've been so excited!)
-If you were to buy a bed again in the future, would you consider buying a Slumberland mattress?
Again, yes! Subject to it lasting well, we are really happy with its performance so far, we both feel that we sleep better and are comfier with fewer aches and pains.

5madthings · 06/06/2016 20:14

-Please describe the effect that it has had on your quality of sleep (and that of your partner if applicable).

Really sorry for delay in answering, life got a bit crazy with madbaby, who was really rather poorly with viral meningitis and bronchiolitis. All Ok now thankfully but rather scary stay in hospital. And I was so so glad to get home to my own bed afterwards! Obviously my sleep is broken sleep as baby loves to feed but the sleep I do get is good and madthing6 is sleeping happily in bed with me. Dh likes the bed when he sleeps in it, but is away at work some nights and escaping downstairs others due to small sleep their madbaby.
Mytback, hips and pelvis are so much better, yet a few nights in a fold out hospital bed and I could hardly move. And then once home again and in our bed they are fine! Honestly the mattress is so supportive, yet soft and comfortable it's amazing.

It's actually or seems slightly softer than the one we tried at the factory, but I still love it.

-Would you recommend a Slumberland Mattress to your best friend?

Yes I would, both for the mattress which is amazing and the brilliant customer service we had, everyone from the man on the gate to hazel and her team to the delivery drivers were all just lovely, honestly they were all great, police, cheerful, helpful etc couldn't ask for more.

-If you were to buy a bed again in the future, would you consider buying a Slumberland mattress?

Yes definitely and actually some of the madthings need new mattresses and we will be looking at slumberland ones.

Thankyou so much for choosing us for this product test. I am sorry for the delay in replying!

happylittlevegemites · 08/06/2016 13:57

Please describe the effect that it has had on your quality of sleep (and that of your partner if applicable).

I don't think it's affected the quality of my sleep, but I'm afraid I still don't love the memory foam! Especially in this hot weather.

-Would you recommend a Slumberland Mattress to your best friend?

Yes, I would. But with the caveat that, if they're not keen on the idea of foam, then this might not change their mind.

-If you were to buy a bed again in the future, would you consider buying a Slumberland mattress?

I would, certainly. It is a quality mattress, but I would avoid any that have foam.

Just updating to say that there was an issue with the mechanism on the ottoman bed we received. I contacted Slumberland and they came and replaced the part within a few days. Great customer service!

OhYouBadBadKitten · 08/10/2016 22:49

Is anyone still around to update a few months on? we are trying to decide between the serene and another manufacturer. Is it still comfy and most importantly does your partner wake you up by moving around?

Stopmithering · 08/10/2016 22:54

Still love my Serene, so comfortable and supportive.
Not woken up by partner moving around, only by his Darth Vader breathing.
I would recommend it definitely.
