Doctor Who

cazzzie987 · 27/10/2014 09:19

Downton Abbey as we all love it.

tranmereforever · 27/10/2014 09:20

At the moment we sit down to watch Doctor Who as everyone enjoys it and DD seems to sit through it

createbeauty · 27/10/2014 09:27

Non-tester. We watch Star Wars Rebels together.

TracyKNixon · 27/10/2014 09:30

We all love to watch the X-Factor and also Catch Phrase! The kids are actually quite good at Catch Phrase too!

beeelaine · 27/10/2014 09:31

Non-Tester here. Has to be Doctor Who for us, our 13 year old son loves it. I think my man wasn't so keen at first but secretly enjoys watching it too as there is no talking when its on (which is really unusual for our home - I can barely hear Downton Abbey when they are wrestling on the carpet in front of the TV)!

prwilson · 27/10/2014 09:32

Definitely Doctor Who.

funnycow · 27/10/2014 09:58

Non- tester: We love watching strictly. My DD and I dance round the room, trying to copy their dance. My DD loves the lifts (thought she does struggle to get me above her head sometimes ;) )

I'm a non-tester but we always sit down for Dr Who. In some episodes, I'm not sure that one of us has understood the plot but we enjoy it anyway!

Tester here!

Firstly, thank you for the opportunity to product test the YouView box! I was very impressed with the service as I received the box before I had even been notified I had been selected! I received text messages telling me when my delivery was due. It was great! It was also great that it came with two adapters that turn any power sockets into an internet outlet. These are great for if you want to set up your YouView box in a different room to your wifi router. The YouView box tells you exactly what is in the box and what you will need to successfully set up the box. It also directs you to a website to check whether you can receive YouView services at your location.

  1. I did set up the box myself! Usually, The Husband deals with stuff like this but I wanted to give it a go myself!
  1. I found it very straightforward to set up. There are clear instructions provided and if you get really desperate, there are Youtube videos you can watch to show you how to set the box up!
  1. I have dabbled in these sorts of things before. I have used a Virgin Media Tivo box before so I already understood the basics of a set top box. YouView was very easy to understand.
  1. My son is newly 2. So he did not use the YouView box himself! I kept him well away from it as he quite likes playing with remote controls and I couldn't risk him removing a recording accidentally!!
  1. I have been enjoying watching the new series of The Apprentice as it is something me and The Husband watch together when he's come home from work in the evening!
  1. I loved the 7 day catch up service as I missed out on that best bits of The Apprentice show where they looked back over the last 10 years. I missed it when it was on so used the 7 day catch up service to watch, which was very handy!
  1. I have used the YouView box the most as I like to have background noise on when The Husband is at work! I also put Peppa Pig on during the day when feeding my son!
  1. There are a lot of useful features on the YouView box. The ease with which you can search for something to watch and then record it so you don't have to try and remember/write it down somewhere! And then being able to scroll back 7 days to see if you missed anything! But perhaps the best feature of all is the pause live TV function! Being able to pause live TV to grab a cup of tea or go for a pee or see to a crying child when he's woken up upset or having a quick tidy before The Husband comes home! ;) Also, the On Demand function is a brilliant and useful one!
  1. We did use the Sky Store! We rented Maleficent which was surprisingly good!
  1. I haven't tried the remote record app yet as I frequently forget to!

Some other things I found impressive with the YouView box were the parental controls (even if they are a bit irrelevant right now with a 2 year old!) and the option to have subtitles.

I think this new model of YouView box looks great! It is really light, a good colour, so slim and looks good with our TV! Multi-functional, there is something for everyone to watch and enjoy!

Thanks again, YouView and MN!
