Sainsbury's has asked us to find 30 MNers to test out their new Mobile by Sainsbury's service. You can either try out the service yourself, or give it to your child or another member of the family so that they can use it to keep in touch with you and others, and then you can tell us how they got on.

Here's what Sainsbury's say about the service: "The average UK family is feeling the pinch, and Mobile by Sainsbury's is an easy way to make your pound stretch further. The Nectar savings you can make through Mobile by Sainsbury's offers will allow a family of four to eat an incredible 45 meals a year*. We know that many customers find choosing a mobile phone network a bit stressful, so we've opted to not only keep our price plans as affordable as possible - we've also made it incredibly simple. With our pay as you go service, customers know exactly what they're getting and how much they're spending, which means no nasty surprises at the end of the month."

This is open to all UK MNers with at least one child at home. One of the main benefits of the service is the amount of Nectar points you can earn, so you will need to have a Nectar card, or be willing to sign up for one if you're selected to take part.

Testers will be provided with one of the handsets below (these will be allocated at random) and you can keep it after testing. You'll also be provided with a SIM card and a £10 top up voucher with which you can purchase one of the Mobile by Sainsbury's bundles which includes 200 minutes, unlimited texts and 250MB of data, lasting up to 30 days. The services included within these bundles are for UK use only and the minutes can be used to call any UK mobiles and landline numbers.

Nectar card users will receive double Nectar points on their Sainsbury?s shopping (some exclusions apply) and fuel while they are using the bundle service, as well as double Nectar points for every £1 they top up. You can link your Nectar account to your phone by texting your Nectar card number to 40774 for free. All points collected through Mobile by Sainsbury's will be credited to your Nectar account within 28 days.

If you're selected to be a tester but you're not currently a Nectar card user, we can provide you with a sign up sheet. You can find more information about the Mobile by Sainsbury's Nectar perks here.

Nokia 100

Samsung E1190

BlackBerry Curve 9320

Sony Xperia E

Samsung Galaxy Fame

Nokia Lumia 520

You can find out more information about the handsets here and via Sainsbury's customer care line on 0845 440 0775, or 40775 from a Mobile by Sainsbury's phone.

If you'd like to stay with Mobile by Sainsbury's after the trial period of up to one month you'll just need to continue to purchase Mobile by Sainsbury's bundles or top ups. If you don't want to carry on after the trial, you don't have to.

All selected testers who add their feedback to a thread on MN will be entered into a prize draw where one winner will receive a £100 Sainsbury's voucher.

More information about Mobile by Sainsbury's can be found here and usage terms and conditions here.

If you?re interested in taking part, please sign up here.

Thanks and good luck,

MNHQ

Our courier just arrived too-a Samsung Galaxy Y-Which wasn't on the above list but is on the Sainsbury's phone page link.

Thank you! I needed a new phone badly mine is very old (and embarrassing ;) but ds is also starting to ask about phones as many of his friends now have -so I think I may treat him and give him a surprise!

Trigglesx · 12/08/2013 13:04

I just got mine - Samsung Galaxy Y as well. My older phone has been well and truly eclipsed.

Thank you Sainsburys and MN! Have tried a couple things on it, but need to wait until tonight when the DCs are in bed to get everything set up on it properly - as it will take me forever! Blush

Tortoise · 12/08/2013 13:23

Still nothing here Sad.

umabritmum · 12/08/2013 14:15

The Nokia 100 signal ( all 5) is great and the phone is working like a charm compared to my existing provider.

  • Calls and texts - perfect . No distortions on calls
  • Radio - Received 7 stations and the headphone works good. Overall, it reminds me when I had my very first basic phone years back :)

Could not get a chance to test the internet and other facilities because of the limitation in the handset but I must say that I am very impressed by Sainsbury Mobile Service Smile.

Tortoise · 12/08/2013 14:22

I just phoned APC couriers and they tracked my parcel with my address.
It's out for delivery and should be here in the next 15 mins Grin.

Groovee · 12/08/2013 14:30

whoop whoop Tortoise

Going to try the internet tonight when I take ds bowling. He's on the wifi just now.

Anyone know how to check what is left on your allowance?

afromom · 12/08/2013 14:35

I think you call the number that you used to register the top up voucher and it tells you how much you have left there. Not sure though, just going on how it works on other networks.

Groovee · 12/08/2013 14:39

How do I check my Mobile by Sainsbury?s bundle balance?

Answer:

To check what?s left in your bundle, call 40775 free from your mobile.

To check how much credit you have left in your pay as you go account, dial *#1345#.

I've been with Tmobile so long that I never have a clue how to do things.

Groovee · 12/08/2013 14:42

Just reading throught the FAQ and in time, you'll be able to have a recurring bundle where it will automatically top up. That will be so helpful for me.

Ghostsgowoooh · 12/08/2013 15:23

I've had mine however it is a very basic phone with no web access at all, a samsung E1190 so the web access part is completely useless. Bit gutted about that tbh. Oh well Grin

However, Ive set the phone up, instructions on how to top up seem clear and consise and it was very easy to add the bundle and it wasn't a long winded process at all which I liked. I can't stand it when other network companies add adverts or make the process a hard one when I just wanted to top up quickly. All good so far.

Tortoise · 12/08/2013 15:27

Not here. Phoned up and I think they are now going to the wrong place! Might have to phone again! They will not like me lol.

Groovee · 12/08/2013 15:31

Tortoise... you're going to have to meet them somewhere Grin

Blatherskite · 12/08/2013 15:32

Where did you get the number for APC from Tortoise? I've had nothing here either

Tortoise · 12/08/2013 15:39

Yay its here. Got the Samsung Galaxy Y.
APC number is 0800 373737 got it by googling!
Thank you MN and Sainsbury. Going to set it all up now.

magentastardust · 12/08/2013 15:47

Glad you finally got it Tortoise!

Groovee · 12/08/2013 15:49

Whooo hooooo at long last Tortoise.

Breezy1985 · 12/08/2013 15:54

Glad you've finally got it tortoise Grin

Ours is working well so far, I'm glad for the unlimited text, DD has been texting me every 2 minutes, hoping the novelty wears off soon Grin After being a bit disappointed to start with she's now very pleased with the phone, don't think she's put it down yet Smile

Blatherskite · 12/08/2013 15:56
Sad

I rang. They have nothing for my address at all today.

Tortoise · 12/08/2013 15:57

All up and working. Signal fine so far. Will be going out tomorrow so good chance to test it.

Tortoise · 12/08/2013 15:58

Oh no blather Sad.

daisychicken · 12/08/2013 15:59

Parcel was "tried to deliver" while I was out this morning so I've rearranged for tomorrow afternoon - cant wait to see what we have and to try it out!

Groovee · 12/08/2013 16:05

Blather try emailing Angelie and see what she can find out.

Trigglesx · 12/08/2013 16:11

signal fine here for phone and text, but running into a problem getting it to sync with my wifi. Very annoying, just seem to keep going in circles.

Blatherskite · 12/08/2013 16:11

Already done :)

She has the right address so either Sainsbury's have mixed it up somewhere along the way or my phone just hasn't been dispatched yet.

magentastardust · 12/08/2013 16:14

It is exciting everyone receiving their parcels! ( I am a nightmare at Christmas time)
