My little boy is 7 and a half months and we tried out the Size 4 nappies...
Q1 What was your overall impression of Pampers Easy Up Pants? Would
you use them again? If so, why? If not, why not?
Upon opening our pack I immediately didn't like the Dora design - I not really a fan of licensed characters used on things like nappies, I would rather they saved me a few pennies each time instead of paying for the character rights!
We thankfully had no leaks and they kept our little one dry overnight without becoming too bulky. They did fit well, though each time I put them on I had to take time to check that the elasticated edges inside the pants were positioned properly as it was easy for them to become slightly twisted and not provide proper coverage if not corrected. When removed there were no red rub-marks which is good. We had to be quite cautious when pulling up the pants as we almost ripped one of the sides on a couple of occasions - it makes me wonder if they could withstand a toddler pulling them up at the toilet-training stage, especially as they are quite a snug fit.
Overall I think that they are a perfectly adequate nappy but the design does not win me over - for the foreseeable future we will stick with conventional nappies until we have to consider our options for potty training.
Q2 Did you find Pampers Easy Up Pants convenient and easy to use or not?
Our son is at too wriggly a stage for these to be more convenient to use than a conventional nappy - by the time you get the second foot through a leg hole the first has been removed! They are simple enough to roll up though this can't be done as neatly and tidily as with a conventional nappy. For us there were not really benefits over a conventional nappy.
Q3 Have you ever used similarly designed nappies before with any of your
children? If so, how did Pampers Easy Up Pants compare?
The only pull up style nappies that I have used are Huggies Little Swimmers and Boots own swim nappies - I found that the Pampers Easy Ups were slightly easier to get on but that is probably to be expected versus a swim nappy.
Performance-wise they were as good as Pampers Baby Dry which we used for quite a while, we have now swtiched to Just4Bums from Kiddicare which we find to be just as good.
Q4 If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Pampers Easy Up
Pants to other parents? If so, why? If not, why not?
I might suggest them to someone who is considering options for potty-training but the rip-sides would give me concern - I think there may be better options out there. Also, as they are still a proper nappy in disguise are they sending a mixed message to a toilet-trainee? For younger babies I don't really see the benefit over normal nappies, unless there is a reason that means they are easy to put on - e.g. babies with bad hips who shouldn't have their legs and pelvis lifted up.
Q5 We've included some info on how much Pampers Easy Up Pants cost
below - do you think that they're good value for money or not? Why?
Not really, Pampers is an expensive brand anyway and these seem particulary pricey, plus I don't recall seeing them on offer that often, unlike Baby Dry and ActiveFit.
