B&Q unloved rooms revamp - review thread for MNers getting stuck in! NOW CLOSED

This thread is for the 20 MNers who have been chosen by B&Q to revamp an unloved room in their home.

Those selected have been sent a B&Q giftcard to buy the things they need to give their unloved room a makeover. They've undertaken to complete the makeover by 3rd June, and will be keeping us up-to-date on how their revamps are going on this thread as well as posting photos.

Please do follow their stories and add your own comments if you want to show some support!

Below are the questions we'd like testers to answer but please feel free to add your own comments too. Please give us a bit of info about the room you're revamping and what you plan to do with it in your response.

• Why is your unloved room unloved? What do you want to change about it? What has stopped you until now?
• Where did you get your inspiration for doing up the room from? What sort of style are you going for etc?
• Have you had much help along the way with the revamp? If so, who from? And what sort of help - practical or ideas-based?!
• How did you find your shopping experience at B&Q? Were the staff helpful? Did you find anything in store you maybe didn't expect to beforehand?
• Did you use any of the help and advice that B&Q offer? This includes their videos on YouTube, leaflets and classes in store etc. If so, how useful was that help and advice?
• If B&Q could do anything more to help you next time you visit, what would it be?
• Have you had any feedback on what you've done with the room from family/friends? Has the transformation had a big impact on you and/or your family?

Babieseverywhere - I see we're not the only ones who found walls filled with goodness knows what! Quite a transformation!

This is the only place you need to put the photos, unless you're one of the video testers.

I had to download an app - field notes or communities or something like that, and upload my photos and blog posts o to it, it outlines the task etc

I am almost finished, just trying to get the trunking onto the wall - says self adhesive but its so not, so needs to be screwed to the wall, need to put my tie backs on, and put the air vents back onto the wall. I don't see why I won't be finished tonight I've probably jinxed myself now although the app does say I have another few days?

A trip to B&Q

Finally got the tv on the wall, need to sort the trunking to hide the wires.

You can't really see the paint colour but its a creamy grey.

Still need to put the air vents back into the wall. I've taken one if the wall lights out, and am sorting out all the wires to the tv box etc.

Right we are currently 'dressing' the room. Unfortunately not quite on time for DS to have a total surprise after his return from school today. DD has been helping very well! Probably about another hour's work to do....

So, we have finally finished the boys rooms. Now looking really quite cool. We have done a feature 'bookcase' wall. This actually looks amazing, so much more than the photos do it justice really. Everyone who has seen it has raved. We are quite a Farrow and Ball household, so wasn't sure about it at first. We have also got a lovely new silver lightfitting and fantastic steel grey shutter style blind. Plus fancy artwork on the walls - Tower Bridge (we live in London!). All in all, it looks quite like a trendy 'loft style' room which I what I was looking for. Boys absolutely love it. Well done B&Q. You have made a lot of people very very happy!

Should add, we were really quote worried about doing the wallpapering of the feature bookcase wall, but it was amazingly easy! We have not used wallpaper in the rest of the houe as we were a little scared of using it, but not anymore...

I love the bookcase wall!

I am doing videos, I'm trying to upload them, I've plugged my phone into the laptop to move everything off my phone chase I have no memory left, moved some stuff and left the videos on the phone supposedly and now I can't find them. Been fiddling with the phone and laptop for ages but have stopped for a break. If I can't find them I will redo them. Pain in the backside though.

I love the bookicase wall, too, but I'm even more in awe of the beautiful ceilings and cornicing! We just have an awful lot of artex!

Crashing headache means that the final touches to my room and the final video won't be done until tomorrow evening....Mumsnet, I hope this is okay?

Hi everyone, wow there's been some amazing work done here!

DH is my hero... even with a family emergency, he has pretty much finished everything on time!

Just a few last touches to be done, like changing a lamp shade, putting a few pics/a clock on the odd wall, but otherwise we're pretty much done!
