  • Overall, how satisfied or dissatisfied were you with the results of the gel?
I'd say a happy moderately satisfied. Satisfied enough but not ecstatic.
  • What (if anything) was the most noticeable result?
The reduction in redness of the scar.
  • Which three words would you use to describe Kelo-cote silicone gel?
Silky, effective, straightforward.
  • The recommended retail price for Kelo-cote is £29.99. Would you be prepared to pay this amount for 3 months' supply (equivalent to less than £10 per month)?
Personally, I wouldn't. But that's mainly because I just probably wouldn't have bothered to use any product if I hadn't taken part in this trial. If had a future c section and my scar was more red/prominent/itchy I probably would be prepared to pay that much, but I'd want to be able to buy a smaller tube to try as £30 is quite a lot of money for a product I'd never tried before.
  • If it were to come up in conversation, would you recommend Kelo-cote silicone gel to friends and family? If yes, why? If not, why not?
If they were particularly bothered by their scar then I would, yes, but not in general to any mum who'd had a c section.

Overall, how satisfied or dissatisfied were you with the results of the gel?

Very satisfied

  • What (if anything) was the most noticeable result?

It's hard to say what would have occurred anyway in time, but scar seemed flatter

  • Which three words would you use to describe Kelo-cote silicone gel?

sticky, effective, uncomplicated

  • The recommended retail price for Kelo-cote is £29.99. Would you be prepared to pay this amount for 3 month?s supply (equivalent to less than £10 per month)?

Perhaps if scar causing me issues, but that wasn't the case other than aesthetics. There are cheaper products available, so I would probably try them first.

  • If it were to come up in conversation, would you recommend Kelo-cote silicone gel to friends and family? If yes, why? If not, why not?

Yes, as although cannot be certain my scar improving in appearance would have happened anyway, it did improve and I have read lots of positive feedback on this thread.

youmaycallmeSSP · 13/03/2013 10:00
  1. Very satisfied and surprised. I didn't think it would do anything but it's made a real difference. The scar is much lighter and less noticeable and has completely stopped itching. The other scars from the same operation are much darker and still itch. It's quite incredible to compare them really.
  1. My scar is much, much lighter. It started out looking purple-brown but is now silvery brown.
  1. Effective, non-sticky, amazing
  1. Honestly, probably not. My scar isn't something that's ever particularly bothered me so I haven't been actively looking for something to make it better. If I'd come across Kelo-Cote before trying it I definitely wouldn't have paid £30 for it.
  1. Yes, I would recommend it and have actually been wondering whether to get a tube as a 'new baby' present for a close friend. I'm still rather stunned that it actually works :o
youmaycallmeSSP · 13/03/2013 10:05

Oh yes, forgot to say: Thankyou for letting me try this :)

FierceBadIggi · 13/03/2013 12:27

I was satisfied, pleased with changes.

  • What (if anything) was the most noticeable result?
Redness reducing.

Scar is much less red, more white now.

  • Which three words would you use to describe Kelo-cote silicone gel?
Cool, silky, sticky
  • The recommended retail price for Kelo-cote is £29.99. Would you be prepared to pay this amount for 3 month?s supply (equivalent to less than £10 per month)?
My scar is never seen so probably not to be honest. I don't think it would be 3 months supply for me either, hard to just use tiny amount.
  • If it were to come up in conversation, would you recommend Kelo-cote silicone gel to friends and family? If yes, why? If not, why not?
Yes, I have liked using it and the results. (assuming I thought they could afford it!)

Many thanks.

sushibabe · 13/03/2013 13:28
  1. Not very satisfied
  1. it reduced the redness in places along the scar and reduced the sensitivity a bit. Its is still very keloid and very pink for the most part.
  1. sticky clear viscous
  1. if i couldn't find a better product i would probably use this as it helped a little.
  1. I doubt i would recommend as i don't feel the results were remarkable enough. I would mention that i had tried it though and suggest they give it a go if they couldn't find a better product as it is relatively inexpensive and easy to apply.
PooFlower · 13/03/2013 14:06

Overall, how satisfied or dissatisfied were you with the results of the gel?
-I am satisfied, my scar is fading nicely.

What (if anything) was the most noticeable result?

Which three words would you use to describe Kelo-cote silicone gel?
-Soothing, calming, straightforward.

The recommended retail price for Kelo-cote is £29.99. Would you be prepared to pay this amount for 3 month?s supply (equivalent to less than £10 per month)?
-Yes, for the relief from itching it's given.

If it were to come up in conversation, would you recommend Kelo-cote silicone gel to friends and family? If yes, why? If not, why not?
-Yes I have already recommended to a friend.

km479 · 13/03/2013 20:31
  1. Very satisfied. Scar flatter and less dark
  2. The colour of the scar is much lighter. Scar flatter too
  3. Quick, simple and effective
  4. Yes. Perhaps more inclined to do so if it was recommended by midwives/Health visitors/mumsnetters!
5.
km479 · 13/03/2013 20:33

Sorry...

  1. Yes already got some for my mum. Would certainly tell friends who complained of scar issues. Wouldn't tell someone just because they had a section though.
LadyLotty · 13/03/2013 20:35
  • Overall, how satisfied or dissatisfied were you with the results of the gel?
partially satisfied - my keloid scar gas improved about 30% it is very far from completely disappearing. So minor benefits but not what I would call amazing effect.
  • What (if anything) was the most noticeable result?
Most noticeable is the slight smoothing of the bumpiness to the keloid. But that is marginal by way of improvement.
  • Which three words would you use to describe Kelo-cote silicone gel?
Slight questionable improvement
  • The recommended retail price for Kelo-cote is £29.99. Would you be prepared to pay this amount for 3 month?s supply (equivalent to less than £10 per month)?
I would pay this but I would also pay for cosmetic steroid injection at londons Harley street and I know the latter is more effective on a value for money basis
  • If it were to come up in conversation, would you recommend Kelo-cote silicone gel to friends and family? If yes, why? If not, why not?
I would recommend because it is fairly easy to try and work into ones daily routine. It doesn't hurt and fairly cheap. It does deliver some results. So why not give it a go?!
ChartMistress · 13/03/2013 20:49
  • Overall, how satisfied or dissatisfied were you with the results of the gel?
Fairly satisfied, right hand side of my scar has faded a lot but the left hand side is still very bumpy
  • What (if anything) was the most noticeable result?
Scar has almost disappeared on right hand side
  • Which three words would you use to describe Kelo-cote silicone gel?
Sticky, easy, clear
  • The recommended retail price for Kelo-cote is £29.99. Would you be prepared to pay this amount for 3 month?s supply (equivalent to less than £10 per month)?
No, if I hadn't already tried it I wouldn't want to pay this much - would probably pay up to £20 for 3 month's supply
  • If it were to come up in conversation, would you recommend Kelo-cote silicone gel to friends and family? If yes, why? If not, why not?
I'd probably suggest trying it if they were really upset by a scar but wouldn't get their hopes up for a dramatic improvement
teebomb · 13/03/2013 21:28
  • Overall, how satisfied or dissatisfied were you with the results of the gel?
Pleased so far...the scar is still noticeable after 3 months but looks better than it did after my first c-section
  • What (if anything) was the most noticeable result?
less keloid than with 1st c-section and has tapered at the ends
  • Which three words would you use to describe Kelo-cote silicone gel?
sticky, smooth, convenient
  • The recommended retail price for Kelo-cote is £29.99. Would you be prepared to pay this amount for 3 month?s supply (equivalent to less than £10 per month)?
quite pricey i think but then it does last a while...i bought another silicone brand for around 20quid on amazon so was expecting it to cost around the same. I think after having a c-section a lot of mums are willing to pay for results
  • If it were to come up in conversation, would you recommend Kelo-cote silicone gel to friends and family? If yes, why? If not, why not?
I would certainly tell them to give it a go. Silicone gel seems to be the most widely recommended solution by midwives, doctors and fellow c-section mothers and it certainly hasnt made my scar worse
Superstuff · 13/03/2013 22:50

Overall, how satisfied or dissatisfied were you with the results of the gel?
I was pleased however it's still very noticeable. I feel this is because I wasn't religious in applying the gel twice a day.

  • What (if anything) was the most noticeable result?
It has flattened, the ends are less bumpy and the redness has faded.
  • The recommended retail price for Kelo-cote is £29.99. Would you be prepared to pay this amount for 3 month?s supply (equivalent to less than £10 per month)?
I would probably be prepared to pay around £20 for the gel.
  • If it were to come up in conversation, would you recommend Kelo-cote silicone gel to friends and family? If yes, why? If not, why not?
I would recommend the gel, because these c-section scars are quite an eye sore and I think it's worth trying different options to reduce the appearance. This seems a good solution to try and help the scar fade.
Glitterfairys · 13/03/2013 23:01

Overall , I am very satisfied with the results of the gel. My scar is definitely less red and bumpy than three months ago .
The most noticeable result is how the redness has dramatically reduced . The scar is not very old anyway but it is loads better this time than my other two sections which I think is down to the gel.
I would describe Kelo-cote gel as smoothing , effective and useful .
Yes , I would buy it as it does everything I expected it to and has made a noticeable difference to my scar this time around.
I would recommend it and I already have to my twin sister . Hopefully she will get the same good results .

grumpyoldtrout · 13/03/2013 23:05

Overall, how satisfied or dissatisfied were you with the results of the gel?
Very satisfied. It actually worked, on a big, lumpy, itchy, purple, keloided scar that'll be 3 years old next week (and 5 and 7 years old next month: 3 c/s, in 2006, 2008 and 2010)

What (if anything) was the most noticeable result?
First it stopped itching. Then the colour faded dramatically. Then much of the lumpiness flattened. The edges now look like a silvery thin scar, and the worst of it, in the middle, is just pink and a bit raised. I'm delighted! Especially as I only applied the gel once a day rather than twice.

Which three words would you use to describe Kelo-cote silicone gel?
Quicky, sticky, un-tricky

The recommended retail price for Kelo-cote is £29.99. Would you be prepared to pay this amount for 3 month?s supply (equivalent to less than £10 per month)?
Um... If I hadn't actually tried it myself, no way. I can't justify spending that kind of money on my personal vanity. However, now that I've tried it and seen for myself how well it works... maybe.

If it were to come up in conversation, would you recommend Kelo-cote silicone gel to friends and family? If yes, why? If not, why not?
I already have, because it worked so well for me.

Thanks very much for including me in the trial

LaVitaBellissima · 13/03/2013 23:12
  • Overall, how satisfied or dissatisfied were you with the results of the gel?
Very pleased, it has definitely improved my scar, in fact, it is almost unnoticeable now.
  • What (if anything) was the most noticeable result?
The itchy raised side has disappeared and the colour has faded, brilliant results
  • Which three words would you use to describe Kelo-cote silicone gel?
Miraculous, sticky revelation!
  • The recommended retail price for Kelo-cote is £29.99. Would you be prepared to pay this amount for 3 month?s supply (equivalent to less than £10 per month)?
Previous to this I would have said it was too expensive and would ave probably paid £15 approx for the product, but after seeing the result, I would buy again and pay the RRP, especially as it can be used on any scars.
  • If it were to come up in conversation, would you recommend Kelo-cote silicone gel to friends and family? If yes, why? If not, why not?
Yes I'd definitely recommend it definitely, especially for childhood scars as I have also been using on my daughters forehead which is so much better. A little really does go a long way.
FlamingGallah · 14/03/2013 05:10
  1. I am pretty satisfied overall
  1. Scar is less red and itchy
  1. Clear, smooth, easy
  1. I think £30 is pricey for what would be a bit of a risky unknown purchase for many, unless they had a horrific scar and were desperate, or had a personal recommendation. Under £20 would encourage more spontaneous purchases I think.
  1. Yes I would recommend as worth a go for people with distressing or itchy scars. I wasnt jmpressed with the silicone patches at all so have found this much better. I am wondering whether the effects last once you stop using the gel though?

Thank you for letting me try it!

Q1. Really easy to apply, just squirt on clean finger and gently apply without rubbing in.
Q2. It only took about 5 mins to dry. Which is what I expected.
Q3. The gel was quite thick and a little sticky if not applied straight away.
Q4.no

NameOfTheNick · 14/03/2013 08:07

Yes, it has faded a little and become less raised and red.

No, relayively easy. I put it on in a mornong whilst I brushing teeth amd washing amd the same at night.
  1. Approximately how much product do you have left (1/3rd tube / 1/2 tube etc)?

I have about half a tube left.

NameOfTheNick · 14/03/2013 08:13

Overall, how satisfied or dissatisfied were you with the results of the gel?- What (if anything) was the most noticeable result?

Quite satisfied, it has helped lessen the redness amd the scar has faded quicker his last 2 months than the previous 6

  • Which three words would you use to describe

Easy, quick, fades

The recommended retail price for Kelo-cote is £29.99. Would you be prepared to pay this amount for 3 month?s supply (equivalent to less than £10 per month)?

Yes, I think £30 is a price that many people would pay to try a product and it is affordable of ot works. Which it does.

If it were to come up in conversation, would you recommend Kelo-cote silicone gel to friends and family? If yes, why? If not, why not?

Yes, I have already mentioned to a relative about buying some for when they have their operation in a few months time. As it is easy to apply and I have seen improvemt in my scar.

goldenretriever · 14/03/2013 10:57

Overall, how satisfied or dissatisfied were you with the results of the gel?

  • What (if anything) was the most noticeable result?
It has definitely faded a bit.
  • Which three words would you use to describe Kelo-cote silicone gel?
clear, sticky, helpful
  • The recommended retail price for Kelo-cote is £29.99. Would you be prepared to pay this amount for 3 month?s supply (equivalent to less than £10 per month)?
No on my budget
  • If it were to come up in conversation, would you recommend Kelo-cote silicone gel to friends and family? If yes, why? If not, why not?
Yes, it seemed to work for me.
CommanderShepard · 14/03/2013 12:02

Very satisfied - surprised how well it worked

Scar has faded and flattened considerably

Effective, simple, easy

Yes; I wouldn't continue to buy it for this scar as I'm happy with it but I'd buy it if I had another c-section or for a facial scar.

Definitely; if I was feeling flush I might even buy someone a tube!

reastie · 14/03/2013 13:25
  • Overall, how satisfied or dissatisfied were you with the results of the gel?

I was relatively satisfied. It isn't a miracle cream but the scar definitely feels softer and less raised. To me there is a noticeable difference but maybe to others not so much so (although I don't go around flashing my csection scar about Wink ).

  • What (if anything) was the most noticeable result?

The feel and bumpiness of the scar (it's smoother and flatter)

  • Which three words would you use to describe Kelo-cote silicone gel?

good, sticky, quick

  • The recommended retail price for Kelo-cote is £29.99. Would you be prepared to pay this amount for 3 month?s supply (equivalent to less than £10 per month)?

Personally I wouldn't for my csection scar. If I had a more obvious scar which was on show and I was conscious about, then yes definitely but for me it isn't worth it on a scar that doesn't see the light of day ever very much.

  • If it were to come up in conversation, would you recommend Kelo-cote silicone gel to friends and family? If yes, why? If not, why not?

Yes I would if it was a scar which really bothered the person I was talking to.

ScottishHeather · 14/03/2013 14:33
  • Overall, how satisfied or dissatisfied were you with the results of the gel?

Very satisfied, scar is less red and seems smoother

  • What (if anything) was the most noticeable result?

The redness has reduced

  • Which three words would you use to describe Kelo-cote silicone gel?

Smooth, easy, effective

  • The recommended retail price for Kelo-cote is £29.99. Would you be prepared to pay this amount for 3 month?s supply (equivalent to less than £10 per month)?

Probably would be keener to pay closer to £24.99

  • If it were to come up in conversation, would you recommend Kelo-cote silicone gel to friends and family? If yes, why? If not, why not?

Absolutely, yes.
