Q1 What was your overall impression of the Method Laundry Liquid 25 Wash Pump?
Well apart from the instructions being in french, the responsibility of using an eco-friendly product was a bonus and the packaging was small and neat, although I couldn't see to "lock" the bottle and to have some neat bottle that could get accidentally left out of a cupboard and so easily squirted by little people who would probably highly approve of doing so, was a bit concerning. I did try to lock it but couldn't without doing an extra spray. Have I missed it, or is it a lacking feature of the otherwise very neat and small packaging?
Talking about packaging, my current choice of fabric detergent is a large brand non-bio which comes in a recycled? recyclable cardboard box. I wondered about the plastic packaging on an eco product... but not sure what the alternative would be for a liquid, so maybe have it refillable? Could there be vats available. A now closed organic shop near us used to have vats for other eco products from a competitor... could this be an option in smaller stockists? Just a thought?
Good to have the same product for pre-treating as washing and done so easily too. This is a really good feature.
First impression on a full load of washing (towels/flannels) in a 8kg drum in a hard water area, was that 4 squirts created too much foam and the "too much detergent" light flashed away so I needed to do a further rinse and spin. However on subsequent washes I reduced the number of sprays and this worked well. I was impressed with how well it lathered up when the washing got going.
Q2 Is there anything you'd change about Method Laundry Liquid?
I would consider a child-lock as an extra precaution for little meddlers or someway of having it so it is not quite so easy to squirt.
I would consider instructions in English for the UK market!
I would like clearer scientific based evidence on the claims of it being environmentally friendly and balanced with the evidence on cleaning power and how that works. I am somewhat sceptical
about companies' claims i.e. fairtrade being used where just one part of the product is actually fairtrade etc.
Q3 What did you think of the fragrance? And the cleaning power?
Well despite having a poorly DD during the trial, it hasn't been that sort of poorly where I can suitably test the cleaning power to the max! I believe this to be a good thing, but really haven't had much in the way of visibly dirty clothes, as we haven't been out much either. The general cleaning power appears to be good.
I can't comment direct on the fragrance as I lack a sense of smell. However, DH and DD say that the washed clothes smell fresh but with little perfume. They think this is fine, and to be honest, that seems fine to me, but I don't know how long the freshness smell lasts. Perhaps a perfume would be better, but then you have to have different perfumes for different smell preferences, don't you? I know my DD raves about the smell of the foaming handwash we get from time to time, "sweet water" perhaps? Surely that would add to cost of what already appears a pricey product on the shelf (though I think the price is competitive for the amount of squirts needed for any one wash).
Q4 If it came up in conversation, do you think you would recommend Method Laundry Liquid to a friend/relative or not? If so, what would you say about it? If not, why not?
Yes, I would recommend it and mention it, particularly in conversations about becoming more environmentally responsible, and from a tidy cupboard point of view too
. I would consider buying it too, but find some of Method's products in some supermarkets and shops and others in others, and have not yet seen a good full range in any one. I don't always find the product when looking either. I know this is probably more in the shops' power rather than Method's but it doesn't help the consumer change their ways. Over all I am impressed with the product. Thanks for asking me to be a tester.
