We have a very exciting event and product test for you to take part in - PlayStation would like to invite 20 Mumsnetters to attend an event in central London this Saturday (10 Nov) to showcase their new Book of Spells game. Here's a word from PlayStation about this magical new game: "The Book of Spells will be one of the must have family gifts this Christmas. It's a book that, with the help of PlayStation, literally comes to life on your TV screen, letting you live in the stories you love.

Featuring exclusive new and original writing from J.K. Rowling, Wonderbook: Book of Spells sends you on a fantastic journey to read and learn the secrets of wizardry and the art of spell-casting, just like a student at Hogwarts. On the way, you'll discover, practice and be tested on over 20 classic spells, such such as Incendio, Wingardium Leviosa and Expelliarmus."

For more info on the game see here.

We're looking for 20 Mumsnetters who:

~ Have at least one child aged 7-10 years (boy or girl)

~ Are able to attend an event in central London between 12 and 4pm (you only need to attend for one hour during that time) with their family (max 2 adults, 4 children)

~ Are happy to be filmed by PlayStation, and take some footage on their smartphone of their child(ren) before, during and after the event to capture the excitement!

~ Can be a PlayStation Mumsnet panellist afterwards - this will involve taking part in 4 activities over the course of the next year, such as testing new games with their child(ren) and much more

The event will be in a central London location (we'll confirm details with those selected). Travel expenses aren't covered but refreshments will be provided. If you sign up to attend during one of the lunchtime slots though, you will need to have some lunch before or after you attend - the refreshments provided will just be snacks.

You will only be required to attend for one hour, so please tick your first and second choices of time slots on the sign up survey (link below). During your session you and your family will be shown how to set up the game, how to play and you'll be given the opportunity to film your child(ren) playing the game.

After the event you'll be sent a Wonderbook PS3 hard bundle (PS3 console, Move Controller, PlayStation Eye, Wonderbook & Book of Spells) to keep (RRP £199). You'll need to film your child(ren) playing the game at home and send in your footage to Mumsnet. You'll also need to add your feedback on the event, and the game itself on a thread on Mumsnet.

The footage you and other Mumsnetters submit, as well as the footage PlayStation capture on the day may appear on Mumsnet and potentially elsewhere. Please only sign up for this if you're happy with that.

If you're interested in taking part, please sign up here.

Thanks - we'll be in touch with selected Mumsnetters by Thurs (8 Nov).

Hurricane how are the DC today?

They're fine in themselves - just spotty & itchy. They seem to have a mild dose, thankfully so they're alright. Thanks for asking Magno.

Thanks Helen - will ignore.

Tried to upload the reveal video but its telling me I haven't completed the brief? Is it because you need the video of the travel/talking about the event video as well?

Report
pantone363 · 09/11/2012 18:43

Can anyone else confirm if they have managed to upload just the video of telling the DC?

Oh yes, MN scarf

Anyway I have a problem - can't see how to download the video. Go to the app on my Samsung Galaxy. It says to add it by either a photo or something else. If I click photo it only brings my photos up, no videos. If I click the other option it all seems to be kindle books.

The video is definetly on my phone, I've just watched it, its in my gallery with loads of my photos. But how do I get it uploaded?

Managed to upload video.

Viva I clicked on the third option and it took me to my videos

There were 3 icons, oneof which looked like a film strip. I clicked that and then selected add a video. Does that help? I get DD to help me.

Agggh, my video isn't long enough. Needs to be 90 seconds.

Report
ScorpionQueen · 09/11/2012 19:56

Is it possible to film more and edit them together?

Report
VivaLeBeaver · 09/11/2012 19:57

Done it. Blimey I hope the Playstation is easier to work out. I am a total technophobe!

VivaLeBeaver · 09/11/2012 19:57

You can 2 viseos as long as the total length is more than 90 secs.

My video is a little bit too long. A minute, I hope it does not matter, I am sure they can cut it. I am not able to cut. I wasted some seconds filming my floor. Grin

Not sure it has "saved", I added the video, the title and the description. It wont let me upload until the next footage, I hope it is not "lost".

ScorpionQueen · 09/11/2012 20:07

Mine is a bit long as I couldn't stop it recording at the end and the dog decided he wanted to be in it, so it may need a little bit of editing too. Girls are guilty of overacting- it was a surprise but put them in front of a camera and they will perform.

I can't get mine to upload still Sad it just says HOLD YOUR HORSES, you haven't fulfilled the brief?! I think I have to wait until I've done the other video

Report
NotQuintAtAllOhNo · 09/11/2012 21:57

I think we need to do the second video on the way in before we can upload.

VivaLeBeaver · 09/11/2012 22:04

Have I stuffed up already? Grin

I did a video of me telling dd. it didn't seem to be long enough. I saw something saying you could do videos of the dc asking questions, etc so did a video of that and uploaded that as well.

Was that meant to be videoed on the way there? I'm going to do another video on the train on the way down anyway!
