We have a very exciting event and product test for you to take part in - PlayStation would like to invite 20 Mumsnetters to attend an event in central London this Saturday (10 Nov) to showcase their new Book of Spells game. Here's a word from PlayStation about this magical new game: "The Book of Spells will be one of the must have family gifts this Christmas. It's a book that, with the help of PlayStation, literally comes to life on your TV screen, letting you live in the stories you love.

Featuring exclusive new and original writing from J.K. Rowling, Wonderbook: Book of Spells sends you on a fantastic journey to read and learn the secrets of wizardry and the art of spell-casting, just like a student at Hogwarts. On the way, you'll discover, practice and be tested on over 20 classic spells, such such as Incendio, Wingardium Leviosa and Expelliarmus."

For more info on the game see here.

We're looking for 20 Mumsnetters who:

~ Have at least one child aged 7-10 years (boy or girl)

~ Are able to attend an event in central London between 12 and 4pm (you only need to attend for one hour during that time) with their family (max 2 adults, 4 children)

~ Are happy to be filmed by PlayStation, and take some footage on their smartphone of their child(ren) before, during and after the event to capture the excitement!

~ Can be a PlayStation Mumsnet panellist afterwards - this will involve taking part in 4 activities over the course of the next year, such as testing new games with their child(ren) and much more

The event will be in a central London location (we'll confirm details with those selected). Travel expenses aren't covered but refreshments will be provided. If you sign up to attend during one of the lunchtime slots though, you will need to have some lunch before or after you attend - the refreshments provided will just be snacks.

You will only be required to attend for one hour, so please tick your first and second choices of time slots on the sign up survey (link below). During your session you and your family will be shown how to set up the game, how to play and you'll be given the opportunity to film your child(ren) playing the game.

After the event you'll be sent a Wonderbook PS3 hard bundle (PS3 console, Move Controller, PlayStation Eye, Wonderbook & Book of Spells) to keep (RRP £199). You'll need to film your child(ren) playing the game at home and send in your footage to Mumsnet. You'll also need to add your feedback on the event, and the game itself on a thread on Mumsnet.

The footage you and other Mumsnetters submit, as well as the footage PlayStation capture on the day may appear on Mumsnet and potentially elsewhere. Please only sign up for this if you're happy with that.

If you're interested in taking part, please sign up here.

Thanks - we'll be in touch with selected Mumsnetters by Thurs (8 Nov).

Dd has got the shits, I'm stuffing her up with Imodium. She will be fine by sat.

Is someone doing voodoo dolls trying to get us to drop out? Grin

Hopezibah · 08/11/2012 21:58

I promise we are not doing voodoo dolls but we are very happy to stand in at the last minute if someone genuinely can't make it! Please mumsnet put us at the top of your standby list . Pretty pleeeease!!!!

Alambil · 08/11/2012 22:05

DS's reaction was so weird - he went totally silent and silently giggly, then was genuinely lost for words...

I am aiming to get in to London for 1pm too, Viva - we're hot footing it down from Hertfordshire though where I finish work at midday!

I hope the trains are running ok this weekend...!

GrotMags · 08/11/2012 22:22

Oh Hurricane sorry to hear that. Hope they get better soon

Viva she will be fine

hurricanewyn · 08/11/2012 22:26

Thanks grotmags - I'm sure they'll be fine. I'm just glad I didn't get a chance to tell them. As disappointed as I am, that'd be worse.

Hope - I hope you get lucky!

Viva - keep that immodium going Grin

TaperJeanGirl · 08/11/2012 23:31

We are also coming Grin! Not filmed the dds reaction yet as had a really busy day and late night tonight but have installed the app and will do the reveal after school tomorrow!

Squiglettsmummy2bx · 09/11/2012 08:35

I'm 12-1 & very excited about meeting some real life mumsnetters Grin

Belo · 09/11/2012 08:42

I filmed my dd's last night. Dd1 was most unimpressed when I told her. I feel like I have a teenager in the house even though she's only 10. Dd2 looked stunned, then went crazy! What I should have filmed though was the dds telling dh. By the time he got home Dd1 had stopped sulking and trying to be 'cool' and had become super excited. They could hardly get their words out they were so eager to tell him the news.

I'm in the 1-2pm slot. I'm going to chance it with driving and hope I'll find a parking meter. I know there are some on Charlotte Street and around.

pantone363 · 09/11/2012 09:05

Anyone else 12-1?

NotQuintAtAllOhNo · 09/11/2012 11:36

VIVA - DONT! You want the bug to leave her system, not clog it up!

Give her immodium on sat morning if still unwell.

Having said that, I hope you and your dd have the slot after us, as we have had so much sickness I cant take any more.....

At lest, wash her hands with antibac before you go in and use the equipment, now there's a dear....

Magna · 09/11/2012 11:48

Getting excited now!

Just got my first task! Uploading video now....

gazzalw · 09/11/2012 17:18

Havent' told the DCs yet as DD was in bed by the time I got back last night......We have been having to bite our tongues this morning and DW this pm!

hurricanewyn · 09/11/2012 17:43

I've had 4 emails now about tasks - I'm ok to ignore them, aren't I?

(As much as I love MN I'm not sure I could tell the Dcs about the day, film it & then tell them it was a joke. I'm a cruel mummy but not that cruel).

TheOtherHelenMumsnet · 09/11/2012 17:54

Sorry hurricane - I had asked them to remove you but they've obviously not done that yet. Could you uninstall the app? I'll ask them again to stop emailing you. And yes, you can ignore - we wouldn't ask you to be that cruel!
