1. What were your thoughts and feelings about Ecover prior to trying them? Had you used any Ecover products before?
I have been using Ecover products for about ten years now, starting with the washing powder and washing up liquid. Many of my cleaning products are Ecover since we moved to a house with a septic tank and can't use bleach, phosphorus-containing products, etc.
2. Do you currently use wipes as part of your cleaning regime? Is it because they are convenient, value for money or for other reasons?
No, have never used them apart from the time someone left some behind at our house after staying here. They were standard bleachy ones and I thought they were horrid and unnecessary so never buy them usually.
3. Ecover Multi-Action Wipes can be used throughout your home - from toilet seats to highchairs - where did you test your wipes? Did they do the job?
I've been away for a month and got back to be faced with bathrooms that hadn't been cleaned for the same length of time. I first tackled a sink and taps encrusted with limescale and soap scum. Horrid. The wipes did a really good job although it took two to do the sink properly and the loo took another two. I've since tried them on the kitchen sink and taps and they also did a good job. Just eyeing up my grubby toddler now... (*)
- No, not really, I did read the instructions!
4. How important is it that the wipes are Anti-bacterial and kill 99.9% of bacteria? Do you use any Anti-bacterial products for cleaning or hygiene?
I'm not obsessive about 99.9% bacteria killing- I prefer to aim for allowing the good bacteria to proliferate over the bad. My favourite cleaning product would be a kind of yoghurt wipe I think. Although I've also tried Kim and Aggie's probiotic cleaner and really liked it.
5. Thinking about the wipes, did you find the packaging easy to use and carry all the information you needed? Did you like the fragrance? Did the wipes retain enough moisture to get the job done?
The packaging was fine , just like baby wipes, easy to use and reseal. What I can smell of the fragrance seems pleasant (I have sinusitis at the moment and my sense of smell wafts in and out). The wipes certainly stayed damp enough. The only gripe I had about them is that I thought they were a tad small for cleaning wipes- they seem the same size as baby wipes but could have done with some more volume.
6. The wipes are FSC sourced and biodegradable - how did you dispose of your wipes once used? Would you pop them on the compost heap or perhaps with food waste? They are not flushable, is this problem? I popped them in the bathroom bin tbh. It was nearer. I shall make the effort and compost them next time. I wouldn't flush random shit stuff like that down any loo attached to a septic tank anyway, so doesn't bother me in the slightest.
7. Would you buy the products in the future? If it came up in conversation do you think you'd recommend to a friend? Why? If not why?
I might well buy them in the future, possibly also for going on camping trips- they strike me as a multi-purpose kind of cleaning thing in a handy package and could have many different uses on a trip. Probably wouldn't recommend to a friend tbh as not in the habit of talking about cleaning products. If the question arose I might mention that you made wipes.
8. Having now tried Ecover Multi-Action Wipes has it changed your perception of the brand? If so, how?
Somehow seems a bit less try-hard worthy if that makes sense. If there's a compromise, a happy place between bleach & acid and rubbing at things with recycled lemon rinds, they seem to be a bit more mainstream if that makes sense. Kind of allowing compromise in ecological issues, which is very overdue imo to get more people on side.
9. Finally, using a 5-star rating with 5 being excellent and 1 being poor? what would you give Ecover Multi-Action Wipes?
4 (because of the size thing)
