1. What were your thoughts and feelings about Ecover prior to trying them? Had you used any Ecover products before?
I have previously bought Ecover products but stopped buying them as they gave me eczema on my hands.
2. Do you currently use wipes as part of your cleaning regime? Is it because they are convenient, value for money or for other reasons?
No. The only wipes I use regularly are baby wipes. I use these for general cleaning such as mucky faces / hands / bums but also to wipe down high chair after use etc.
3. Ecover Multi-Action Wipes can be used throughout your home - from toilet seats to highchairs - where did you test your wipes? Did they do the job?
I mainly used the wipes in the kitchen; to wipe down surfaces and clean the cooker. I also used the wipes to clean the highchair. I found that they were only good for giving already clean-looking surfaces a once-over to make sure they were germ-free.
4. How important is it that the wipes are Anti-bacterial and kill 99.9% of bacteria? Do you use any Anti-bacterial products for cleaning or hygiene?
This is very important and would make a difference to the product that I would choose to buy. I use anti-bacterial spray to clean the dining table, highchair and kitchen surfaces. I also use anti-bacterial spray to clean the toilet. At the moment I use a spray and a piece of kitchen roll to do this.
5. Thinking about the wipes, did you find the packaging easy to use and carry all the information you needed? Did you like the fragrance? Did the wipes retain enough moisture to get the job done?
The packaging was good. It was easy to open and compact. I liked the fragrance as it was a bit different to the usual 'lemon' fragrance and it wasn't over-powering. It just smelt fresh and clean but didn't really linger which I liked.
The wipes were moist enough but the towel wasn't thick enough to do the job properly. It felt like using a very wet, very thin kitchen towel. The thickness of the wipe meant I wasn't keen to use it on the toilet as I felt my fingers would go through it. Also it meant it wasn't great to use on any areas of stuck-on grime. They were only suitable to really give the surface a 'freshen-up' rather than a proper clean.
6. The wipes are FSC sourced and biodegradable - how did you dispose of your wipes once used? Would you pop them on the compost heap or perhaps with food waste? They are not flushable, is this problem?
I really like the fact that they are biodegradable. This would be an incentive to buy them or a similar product again. I put them in the bin when I was finished with them. I wouldn't want to flush a wipe down the toilet. I don't think I would put them on the compost heap as I would want to be certain that the chemicals in them would not harm the garden after they had degraded.
7. Would you buy the products in the future? If it came up in conversation do you think you'd recommend to a friend? Why? If not why?
I would take another look at the Ecover range as the wipes have not irritated the skin on my hands. However, I would not buy the wipes as I do not think they are useful enough. I have only been using them to wipe down the hob after use or the kitchen bin and I don't really need a single product for that purpose.
8. Having now tried Ecover Multi-Action Wipes has it changed your perception of the brand? If so, how?
Not really. I have always thought that the brand is a good one but have been reluctant to use it because the washing up liquid irritated the skin on my hands in the past. Also Ecover terns to be on the more expensive side. If the products were a similar cost I would consider them.
9. Finally, using a 5-star rating with 5 being excellent and 1 being poor? what would you give Ecover Multi-Action Wipes?
I'm sorry to say I would only give them a 2. I liked the concept and I liked the smell but the thickness of the wipe meant that in my view it was not fit for purpose.
