ClaimedByMe · 26/09/2012 16:37

It should be ok on Friday mines is dated the 29th!

BeattieBow · 26/09/2012 17:17

ooh I've got some too - I didn't see the email from AnnMumsnet but its there anyway, and the box was waiting for me when I got back from work.

ds wants to try it already.

Emandlu · 26/09/2012 17:18

We've got ours, the kids are currently tucking into it.

MegBusset · 26/09/2012 17:39

Mine arrived today, DS1 refused to try it as it "smelled funny", DS2 wolfed it down toasted with butter. I have just had a slice toasted with a cup of coffee, bit disappointed with the taste tbh, I thought it tasted quite 'generic' rather than of the specific fruit, I was hoping for something tasting more like a teacake or hot x bun. Still made a change from a biscuit!

AnnMumsnet · 26/09/2012 18:27

BeattieBow - can you check your junk folder? if it's not arrived pm me and I will let you know my email addy and you can maybe add me to your safe list.

Glad it's arriving!!

Ours arrived. I'll also be freezing one.
Tried it out on my 2 dc this afternoon, it disappeared pretty quick!

modernbear · 26/09/2012 20:29

Fruit Loaves turned up this afternoon. We all devoured a couple of slices for tea/supper.

FannyFifer · 26/09/2012 20:32

Got our two today, yum!

We have all tried it, had some for supper me, DP, DD2, DS7 and all enjoyed it. Grin

kiwigirl42 · 26/09/2012 20:44

Mine arrived today. I've tried it untoasted with butter and toasted with butter. I really liked it both ways.

I like that fact that:

a) its not very sweet ie more bread than cake
b) its not overpoweringly flavoured just pleasantly spicy
c) the added fruit just give a zing and pop every mouthful rather than being the whole mouthful

Its yum and I'll be buying it myself when this runs out. I'm going to make bread and butter pudding with it too as think it would be delicious with this bread

BeattieBow · 26/09/2012 20:50

Ann I did get the email - it was in my inbox, I just managed to miss it.

my dcs all tried some, as did a friend who was over on a playmate. They all loved it - we tried it both toasted and untoasted and with and without butter.

the only concern I have is that after having it (and it could be completely unconnected), dds 2 and 3 (aged 7 and 9) and ds2 (4) went a bit hyper. But I don't' know if that was due to the sugar in the bread (and they are fairly familiar with sugar) or just due to overexcitement. I suspect the latter, but I'll see if they have a similar reaction tomorrow.

my dd1 aged 11 also loved it.

TheOneWithTheHair · 26/09/2012 21:01

Mine's not arrived yet. :(

Mine arrived today. The dc tried it immediately upon coming home from school.
Dd (nine)had a slice untoasted, without butter, and declared it delicious.
Ds(13) had his toasted, with butter, and said it was gorgeous.

Ds has already asked to have some for breakfast.

Dd (whose lunchtime sandwich has come back from school sitting forlornly and untouched in her lunchbox yet again) will be getting some a smidge of butter in her lunchbox for school tomorrow. Will report tomorrow Smile

Dh and I love the smell of it. I am going to have some for breakfast tomorrow. Dh was impressed by the amount of fruit in it (had expected just raisins).

5inthebed · 26/09/2012 21:22

Mine has arrived, thanks MN and kingsmill.

Tried some earlier, toasted, was ok. Will be feeding the kids it tomorrow for breakfast.

scrappydappydoo · 26/09/2012 21:27

We got ours today - dds had some for a snack after school - liked it. I expected it to be a bit more fruity but I like rthe mix of fruit and it is v. tasty.

whojamaflip · 26/09/2012 21:29

Got mine today too - had a quick look and it smells lovely BUT it seemed a bit stale Confused. Think it will be fine toasted for brekkie tomorrow but even with loads of butter on it I think it would be way too dry to eat "raw" iyswim.

ShoopShoop · 26/09/2012 21:36

Right - we've all tried it here.

Baby Shoop (DD 14 months) wasn't too impressed when she had it toasted with butter. I really thought it would be a hit with her as she loves dried fruit and she loves toast Hmm.

DH really wasn't a fan either - said the fruit was too "squidgy".

I didn't mind it - to be honest I was expecting a kind of hot cross bun in a loaf so was slightly disappointed with the blandness and lack of spicing. However, I think it has potential so am going to go and buy some of my favourite jam tomorrow and hope that it helps!

Thanks for letting us try it though Mumsnet & Kingsmill!

IwishIwasmoreorganised · 26/09/2012 21:47

Ours arrived at about 4pm today.

One loaf is ready to go in the morning and I've put the other in the freezer.

Will repost back soon!

OhYouBadBadKitten · 26/09/2012 21:50

Mine isn't here yet :(

NiniLegsInTheAir · 27/09/2012 09:30

DD (20 months) and me tried some last night - we had it lightly toasted with butter and both of us ate all we'd made. DD loves bread to it seems to be a hit with her. I like it as it's a midway point between a fruit loaf (like Soreen) and ordinary bread, and I also liked that it didn't have nuts or seeds in as they get between my teeth!

Husband tried some aswell this morning for breakfast and said he liked it as it was different, and took a few more slices to work with him! He usually only eats granary bread so this was unusual for him to approve of.

Think I'm going to try it with a splash of honey tonight!

Chopstheduck · 27/09/2012 10:03

I expected it to be a lot sweeter and agree it could do with a bit of spicing. I sprinkled some cinnamon over mine - I think allspice would work nicely too.

The older two loved it, the younger two will try it today.

I might have some more for lunch - it will make ace banana sandwiches Grin

SaraSidle · 27/09/2012 11:30

It's popular here!!

As I've been at hospital with ds 18 year old dd has been in charge. She loved it but thinks more fruit should be added.

However..... Try it as cheese on toast!! OMG! Delicious....
