We recently recruited 100 MNers to join the UltraLift Challenge and put UltraLift to the test. In addition, 10 lucky MNers (who also tested UltraLift) were invited to an exclusive Q&A session with Davina McCall, Garnier UltraLift brand Ambassador. Davina answered all sorts of questions submitted by MNers - including: what she thinks of UltraLift, how she manages her beauty routine within her busy schedule and lots more. You can see some pictures and info from the event here

So what is the UltraLift Challenge? The UltraLift Challenge is an activity created by Garnier to allow women across the country to test UltraLift anti-wrinkle cream for free and see the results for themselves against Garnier?s Wrinkle Reader. Last year 18,374 women put UltraLift to the test and 80% saw a visible improvement in the appearance of their wrinkles.

How can you participate? Garnier is offering free trial packs containing 14 UltraLift samples and the unique Wrinkle Reader
- find out more by visiting the UltraLift pages on Mumsnet

This thread is for testers to report back on the results they?ve seen from putting UltraLift anti-wrinkle cream to the test and to encourage all MNers to try UltraLift for FREE and see the results for themselves.

So if you were a tester, once you have used the cream for at least 14 days - please share with us all on this thread how you are finding the cream...

~ Before starting using the UltraLift - did you use Garnier?s UltraLift Wrinkle reader? What grade were you on?
~ And how did you feel about your wrinkles? New, old, deep, shallow, annoying or part of your character?
~ How did it smell and how did it feel on your skin? Did it absorb easily?
~ Did you notice a difference on your face? What did you notice? Was any difference noticeable against the UltraLift wrinkle reader?
~ Do you think you will carry on using it? The RRP is £9.18.
~ Would you recommend it to others?
~ Any other comments?

If you attended the Q&A with Davina, please answer the questions above about the product and also let us know about the event with her - and share any additional tips/experiences she shared with you, a summary is on the hub.

Everyone who is a tester and who adds feedback on this thread will be entered into a prize draw where one winner will get a £100 John Lewis voucher.
Thanks, MNHQ

Doobydoo, of course we don't KNOW Davina uses it - but would Davina lie? To MUMSNET??? Hmm

I agree with you about money - though I've managed to keep wrinkles to a minimum by not thinking about my overdraft! Smile

~ Before starting using the UltraLift ? did you use Garnier?s UltraLift Wrinkle reader? What grade were you on?
Yes, between 1 and 2
~ And how did you feel about your wrinkles? New, old, deep, shallow, annoying or part of your character?
I'd be happier to not have them but they're just a part of getting older so don't overly bother me - I do use a skin plumper to banish them on a night out or social occasion though !
~ How did it smell and how did it feel on your skin? Did it absorb easily?
Smelt nice enough but nothing out of the ordinary - it absorbed nicely and left my skin feeling moisturised
~ Did you notice a difference on your face? What did you notice? Was any difference noticeable against the UltraLift wrinkle reader?
My skin feels moisturised so looks plumper but I didn't notice any permanent difference really
~ Do you think you will carry on using it? The RRP is £9.18.
For that price, it would be a treat every now and again or as a gift
~ Would you recommend it to others?
Possibly, for anyone worried about their wrinkles and used to paying for premium skincare products
~ Any other comments?

~Before starting using the UltraLift ? did you use Garnier?s UltraLift Wrinkle reader? What grade were you on?
About 1.
~ And how did you feel about your wrinkles? New, old, deep, shallow, annoying or part of your character?
Inevitable but not welcome!
~ How did it smell and how did it feel on your skin? Did it absorb easily?
I liked the smell. The cream felt nice on the skin and was easily absorbed.
~ Did you notice a difference on your face? What did you notice? Was any difference noticeable against the UltraLift wrinkle reader?
I don't think so. It left my skin feeling soft but there were no remarkable results. There was no difference against the wrinkle reader.
~ Do you think you will carry on using it? The RRP is £9.18.
No because I prefer a cream containing an SPF.
~ Would you recommend it to others?
Probably not but I wouldn't discourage them from buying it either.
~ Any other comments?
Thanks for letting me try it!

~ Before starting using the UltraLift ? did you use Garnier?s UltraLift Wrinkle reader? What grade were you on? Wasn't on it; not around the eyes anyway.
~ And how did you feel about your wrinkles? New, old, deep, shallow, annoying or part of your character? I have frown lines between my eyes; annoying but it's part of life.
~ How did it smell and how did it feel on your skin? Did it absorb easily?
I really didn't like the smell at all. It was quite chemically. It did absord really well - very quickly and not greasy and it didn't 'rub off' into little bits the way that some do.
~ Did you notice a difference on your face? What did you notice? Was any difference noticeable against the UltraLift wrinkle reader? No difference against the reader. My skin does feel soft and people keep saying how well I look, despite having a small baby, so perhaps it does make a difference!
~ Do you think you will carry on using it? The RRP is £9.18. I might, yes; I like the way it was absorbed quickly.
~ Would you recommend it to others? Not especially.
~ Any other comments? Thanks for letting me try it.

I used the cream for 3 days but it made my eyes water and swell up a bit so I had to stop. I didn't like the smell at all though and definitely wouldn't buy it.

Day 7 for me. I'm enjoying the products, and I like the way that my skin absorbs the moisturiser. My skin feels very soft as well.

No idea re wrinkles yet, and I think I've set Garnier a stiff test as I got a bit sunburnt (despite wearing suncream!) on Tuesday.

I'm impressed so far. I have sometimes felt the cream tingling on my face (especially after the sun exposure, which I think is the pro-retinol working?), but I like the feel of it and I think that it represents great value for money.

50ml @ £9+ c.f. Boots Protect and Perfect (and the others in the range) at around £22 per 50ml pot could be a no-brainer for me.

I also really like the fragrance - and I'm totally puzzled as to why others don't like it!

When I started using the cream I was a grade 1 wrinkly, 2 at the most, and that didn't really change. I still have the same lines if I smile. I don't especially like looking older and do buy anti aging products but I don't sit up at night panicking about my wrinkles either. They aren't too bad yet but my skin can look very dull as I age.

I like using the cream and will buy it again. While I didn't look like a new person I felt it suited my skin and perked it up a bit. I was a bit annoyed by this as I don't especially warm to Garnier as a brand because it advertises soooo much and the adverts annoy me frankly! I have already recommended it to someone and that is most unlike me. I like the texture and it sinks in well, and the smell is not offputting or overly strong. The price seems about right to me.

Before starting using the UltraLift ? did you use Garnier?s UltraLift Wrinkle reader? What grade were you on?
Yes, I came up at a 3.

And how did you feel about your wrinkles? New, old, deep, shallow, annoying or part of your character?
New and I haven't got used to them! Before having DS 2 years ago I was young and wrinkle-free, don't seem to get much time to look in the mirror these days so it shocked me how wrinkley I've become!

How did it smell and how did it feel on your skin? Did it absorb easily?
Liked the smell, went on quite thick and seemed to take a while to absorb

Did you notice a difference on your face? What did you notice? Was any difference noticeable against the UltraLift wrinkle reader?
Skin feels much smoother and "thicker" - not sure its helped the crows feet but the wrinkles on my forehead have definitely improved

Do you think you will carry on using it? The RRP is £9.18.
Would probably add to christmas and birthday list rather than buying myself

Would you recommend it to others?
Only if they asked! Otherwise might seem a bit rude Wink

I was grade 1
~ And how did you feel about your wrinkles? New, old, deep, shallow, annoying or part of your character?
Shallow and annoying
~ How did it smell and how did it feel on your skin? Did it absorb easily?
I thought the smell was ok although it reminded me of suncream which is probably because I use Garnier sun protection for myself and my family. It was very easily absorbed
~ Did you notice a difference on your face? What did you notice? Was any difference noticeable against the UltraLift wrinkle reader?
I didn't notice any difference to my wrinkles in the mirror or on the wrinkle reader
~ Do you think you will carry on using it? The RRP is £9.18.
No because I prefer my current anti-wrinkle cream which although it is more expensive gives better results
~ Would you recommend it to others?
No
~ Any other comments?
I would like it to have an SPF. Also I found it was too light for my dry skin and my skin felt tight by the end of the day. Maybe a version for dry skin would solve that problem

I found it too heavy on my skin, and hard to smooth over evenly. At least it wasn't highly perfumed as so many creams are. No change in wrinkles was visible, tho hard to really compare skin to tiny pictures. No spf was extremely unusual. The cream was over packaged, perhaps to give impression of more upmarket cream, but was actually just irritating and waste of resources. I'll stick to my current cream.

Q1. before using ultralist did you use the wrinkle reader, if so what grade where you on?
A1. I tried, but found it confusing- I wasn't sure if that was when smiling, (when I have crinkles) or not (when I only have very fine lines). The reader pictures were small and I couldn't judge at all where I was on the scale.
Q2.How did you feel about your wrinkles? New, old, deep, shallow, annoying or part of your character?
A2. Well I don't like looking older, certainly, but I have a sense of resignation about it. I try and look after my skin, but I still live a life where I potter round the garden in the sun, and walk on the beach, and eat too much sugar.
Q3.How did it smell and feel on your skin? Did it absorb easily?
A3. I wasn't mad on the scent although it isn't as strong as many creams. I try not to use things with added fragrance as my skin is sensitive, (as is my nose). I would have liked it better unscented , the eye cream isn't scented at all and I prefer that. I was really surprised with how nice the cream felt on my skin though, I liked the texture of it, it absorbed easily, didn't sting, and felt comfortable. Worked well under my mineral powder foundation, and under any of my other make-up. It was better than I expected for the price.
Q4.Did you notice a difference on your face? What did you notice? Was any difference noticable against the wrinkle reader?
A4. I think my skin looks brighter and a nicer tone. Slight improvement to the fine lines too. I hadn't been able to work out the wrinkle reader so couldn't use that as a comparison.
Q5. dod you think you will carry on using it? It is £9.18.
A5. Well I think I might keep on using it actually. Which is a big surprise for me as I never buy cheaper skincare, I normally spend rather more than that on a pot of cream (not silly money, but middle range prices )
Q6. Would you recommend it to others?
A6. Yes I would. my skin is very sensitive and flares up easily but it hasn't triggered a reaction, and I really liked the feel of the product.
Q7. Any other comments?
A7. I would like one with a non-chemical (physical) SPF, or one that was slightly tinted and also had a non-chemical SPF. Also think in cold windy weather i would need something more super-moisturising.
Thankyou Garnier for the chance to try the products, it has been a pleasant surprise and I'm buying some for my Mum.

Before starting using the UltraLift ? did you use Garnier?s UltraLift Wrinkle reader? What grade were you on?
Yes and probably less than a grade 1 which I'm quite chuffed about for 42!!

And how did you feel about your wrinkles? New, old, deep, shallow, annoying or part of your character?
I'm fortunate not to have many for my age although this is probably down to being overweight, so I don't mind them too much. I also think they are part of your character although probably wouldn't think that if I had loads!!

How did it smell and how did it feel on your skin? Did it absorb easily?
I've always liked the smell of Garnier creams so yes do like it and it absorbs well and isn't too greasy which is important for me as I tend to get spots quite easily despite my age!

Did you notice a difference on your face? What did you notice? Was any difference noticeable against the UltraLift wrinkle reader?
It was definitely less dry and smoother. No real change on the reader as I'm less than a grade 1 anyway.

Do you think you will carry on using it? The RRP is £9.18
Yes I probably will now I have got into the routine of using a moisturiser.

Would you recommend it to others?
Yes.

I used the wrinkle reader and was about a 1

Whilst I would prefer not to have them they are part of my features and I am am probably too conscious of them. I suspect others don't notice them.

It smelt pleasant and not too strong. It absorbed really easily and wasn't greasy

I think the wrinkles around my eyes look better but without a before and after picture it is quite difficult to tell.

Yes, it is cheaper than my normal face cream and seems to work.

Would you recommend it to others?
Yes

Between 1 and 2

~ And how did you feel about your wrinkles? New, old, deep, shallow, annoying or part of your character?

New and shallow and lack of sleep hasn't helped

~ How did it smell and how did it feel on your skin? Did it absorb easily?

The smell was quite pleasant and it absorbed easily but if you applied too much, I felt that the absorption decreased and it affected foundation when applied afterwards.

~ Did you notice a difference on your face? What did you notice? Was any difference noticeable against the UltraLift wrinkle reader?

No didn't notice any difference.

~ Do you think you will carry on using it? The RRP is £9.18.

No, would rather use something cheaper with sun protection included.

~ Would you recommend it to others?

No.
~ Any other comments?

UV protection would be good to have in it as sun is the cause of wrinkles so a prophylactic as well as treatment approach in one would be more appealing.

Ok sorry it's taken me a while to do this but we went on holiday so it all got a little delayed!

Before starting using the UltraLift ? did you use Garnier?s UltraLift Wrinkle reader? What grade were you on?

  • I tried to but concluded I don't really have crows feet - a few lines under my eyes but my bigger probem is dark shadows

~ And how did you feel about your wrinkles? New, old, deep, shallow, annoying or part of your character?
  • as above, I don't really have too many so not too worried - although becoming more concerned about the ones that are appearing under my eyes

~ How did it smell and how did it feel on your skin? Did it absorb easily?
  • I would say it smelled inoffensive - and absorbed very easily.

~ Did you notice a difference on your face? What did you notice? Was any difference noticeable against the UltraLift wrinkle reader?
  • not really, but it could be because I didn't have a huge amount of wrinkles to start with - it didn't seem to make a difference to my shadows. Although a lot of people have been saying I look "well" I put that down to my Florida sun tan rather than the cream...

~ Do you think you will carry on using it? The RRP is £9.18.
  • I will for now but not sure I would chose it above any other cream. To be honest there are so many creams on the market I can't see why I would chose one over another - if anything I will do it on price, what' s on offer etc

~ Would you recommend it to others
  • not at the moment but I will carry on using it and see what happens.

~ Before starting using the UltraLift ? did you use Garnier?s UltraLift Wrinkle reader? What grade were you on?

1 or less. DH also tried it, he's about a 3

~ And how did you feel about your wrinkles? New, old, deep, shallow, annoying or part of your character?

Mine - not really noticeable, I'm 36. Wanted to keep them that way. DH is 40 and much more wrinkly due to his work environment. I think his wrinkles are nice, distinguished Grin

~ How did it smell and how did it feel on your skin? Did it absorb easily?

Absorbed easily, didn't mind the smell but didn't particularly like it either. Felt fine on my skin - DH felt it stung on his, he didn't like it.

~ Did you notice a difference on your face? What did you notice? Was any difference noticeable against the UltraLift wrinkle reader?

No difference really but probably because was less than 1 before. DH skin did seem less 'wrinkly' maybe from a 3 to a 2. Skin felt softer and more 'plump'.

~ Do you think you will carry on using it? The RRP is £9.18.

Possibly, would prefer different scent though

~ Would you recommend it to others?

Yes, reasonably priced nice cream

~ Any other comments?

Would be great with spf and/or some light foundation/coverage. Would take a step out of beauty routine which is always good time wise.

Before starting using the UltraLift ? did you use Garnier?s UltraLift Wrinkle reader? What grade were you on?
Based on the wrinkle reader I didn't have any wrinkles. So couldn't make a comparison.
~ And how did you feel about your wrinkles? New, old, deep, shallow, annoying or part of your character?
No real wrinkles to describe
~ How did it smell and how did it feel on your skin? Did it absorb easily?
The cream smelt horrible - far too strong a smell that lingered for ages. Smelt like very bad perfume. Would have preferred it to have much less or no smell. Cream seemed to sting a little to start with when first used. But did absorb easily and didn't sting after first use.
~ Did you notice a difference on your face? What did you notice? Was any difference noticeable against the UltraLift wrinkle reader?
Face felt smoother but didn't notice any difference on wrinkles.
~ Do you think you will carry on using it? The RRP is £9.18.
seems expensive for a small pot.
~ Would you recommend it to others?
No
~ Any other comments?
The packaging reminds me of hair gel not face cream. The smell of the cream was much too strong and over powering for a face cream.

Before starting using the UltraLift ? did you use Garnier?s UltraLift Wrinkle reader? What grade were you on?

I'm not especially wrinkly - just a few lines around my eyes and an ever-deepening number 11 between my eyebrows

~ And how did you feel about your wrinkles? New, old, deep, shallow, annoying or part of your character?

love my laughter lines, don't really like the 11 though

~ How did it smell and how did it feel on your skin? Did it absorb easily?

Felt nice - quite rich. Took a while to absorb and I felt it was a bit greasy for daytime use so used it as a night cream too. Found that make-up didn't sit too well on top of it and I looked shiny, which I don't like! So I didn't feel it absorbed brilliantly, no.

~ Did you notice a difference on your face? What did you notice? Was any difference noticeable against the UltraLift wrinkle reader?

No real difference to my wrinkles but my skin in general looks smoother and kind of plumper, which is nice. I did break out in a few spots on my chin though.

~ Do you think you will carry on using it? The RRP is £9.18.

I'd be much more likely to buy the night version!

~ Would you recommend it to others?

Yes, I think my mum would like it.

~ Any other comments?

The scent actually grew on me but at first it smelt a bit strong and somehow reminded me of suncream. I don't think it needs to be so perfumed.

Thanks for sending me the cream, I enjoyed taking part.

~ Before starting using the UltraLift ? did you use Garnier?s UltraLift Wrinkle reader? What grade were you on?
I was somewhere between one and two
~ And how did you feel about your wrinkles? New, old, deep, shallow, annoying or part of your character?
Part of me, but a part I'd like to change!
~ How did it smell and how did it feel on your skin? Did it absorb easily?
I really don't like the smell. It's a bit chemical, and it was almost as though it was trying to be an unfragranced cream, but wasn't quite, if that makes any sense? It felt very heavy on my skin, but it did seem to absorb quickly.
~ Did you notice a difference on your face? What did you notice? Was any difference noticeable against the UltraLift wrinkle reader?
I haven't really noticed any difference, despite using the cream for slightly more than a fortnight now.
~ Do you think you will carry on using it? The RRP is £9.18.
I won't carry on using it, as I prefer a lighter cream, and one with spf in it. The price seems reasonable, but I won't be buying any more when my trial pot runs out.
~ Would you recommend it to others?
I would suggest to them that they do the 14-day challenge before buying it.
~ Any other comments?
It seemed a bit odd that a wrinkle cream didn't have any spf, as I have always thought that the sun is a major factor in the development of wrinkles.
