Q2. Did you shop for shapewear in store or online, or both? Which method do you prefer for buying things like shapewear and why?

Q3. Do you think there is enough choice in terms of styles, shapes, sizes, colours etc or not? How was the stock availability when you did your shopping? Were you able to get what you wanted in your size or not?

Q4. Do you think that the shapewear item(s) you bought were good value for money or not? Why?

Q5. How satisfied or dissatisfied are you with the shapewear item(s) you bought and why? Is there anything you were particularly impressed with? Or anything you were disappointed by?

Q6. Do you think there's anything M&S could do to improve the range? Do you think there are any items missing from it at the moment? If you were going to shop for shapewear again, which other retailers (if any!) would you consider buying from?

Q7. Lastly, if it came up in conversation, do you think you'd recommend M&S shapewear to a friend? If so, why? If not, why not?

Thanks and good luck with the prize draw!

Bought Lace Back Brazilian Light Shaping knickers and Light Control cotton rich lace knickers, nude and black.

Q1. Have you bought Shapewear from M&S before? When you first started investigating the shapewear range as part of this product test, how easy or difficult was it to find out about the different types of garments available? Did you find what you had in mind?

Never bought them before, or heard of them. Perhaps could have been more information online as to what exactly each garment might do (or hide!).

Q2. Did you shop for shapewear in store or online, or both? Which method do you prefer for buying things like shapewear and why?

A frustrating buying experience. Tried to buy online, several times on differ days but each time I went to check out the website defaulted back to the first page of the checkout process. Would have given up and gone elsewhere (John Lewis, most likely, or Figleaves) if I didn't have to buy them for this survey. Then had to buy instore but don't have a big store nearby (hours drive away) so had to choose from the very limited range at a small nearish store. No way I would have bothered under normal conditions.

Would much prefer to buy online. I hate shopping and don't have any big stores nearby.

Q3. Do you think there is enough choice in terms of styles, shapes, sizes, colours etc or not? How was the stock availability when you did your shopping? Were you able to get what you wanted in your size or not?

Colours were fine, although a navy might be good? Def. not enough choice. When trying to buy online all the things I wanted were unavailable in my size (12). Stock availability pretty poor in store too. Most things only in size 20 (as is fen the case in M&S, I find). Just picked the least hideous thing in my size in the end!

Q4. Do you think that the shapewear item(s) you bought were good value for money or not? Why?

Fair price, I think. Not sure if they will last long.

Q5. How satisfied or dissatisfied are you with the shapewear item(s) you bought and why? Is there anything you were particularly impressed with? Or anything you were disappointed by?

Really didn't like. Made me feel like an old woman wearing them. Very unsexy and unfeminine.

Q6. Do you think there's anything M&S could do to improve the range? Do you think there are any items missing from it at the moment? If you were going to shop for shapewear again, which other retailers (if any!) would you consider buying from?

Much more likely to buy from Figleaves (if online) or John Lewis (if in a store).

Q7. Lastly, if it came up in conversation, do you think you'd recommend M&S shapewear to a friend? If so, why? If not, why not?

Really can't imagine it happening, but probably not, I'm afraid.

Q1 I have never bought shape wear before. Well, not on purpose. I've accidentally bought shape wear tights and don't like them! I usually found them uncomfortable. I was impressed by the range.

Q2 I looked online at the range before I bought in store.

Q3 there was a lot of choice online but couldn't find as much in store ( monks cross, York). What they did have was in my size (12)

Q4 I bought a slip and vest top and hopefully they will last! Only worn once so far but seem good quality. I wouldn't usually spend 27.50 on a slip. That dip seem a bit much. Although I do like it! My outfit doesn't usually cost much more!!

Q5 somehow things looked a bit more glamorous online. I was a little disappointed with the choice online. Maybe seeing it on a model helps. I particularly need support for my large rear end found most things focused on the stomach. I ended up buying a vest plus slip and would have probably bought shape wear knickers but all the stomach support can make feel a little queasy!

Q6 more bottom/ thigh support. Would maybe look in debenhams.

Q7 probably not, it's nice but nothing to rave about!

By the way all staff were lovely, even though my 2 year old was being a horror! X

Sorry for the delay, I have however been dilligent and used the shapewear on several occasions now !

Q1. Have you bought Shapewear from M&S before? When you first started investigating the shapewear range as part of this product test, how easy or difficult was it to find out about the different types of garments available? Did you find what you had in mind?

I haven't bought shapewear for year, only thing I owned were a pair of bridget Jones pull-ey in pants, which left me with rolls of flab above and below (they could well have been M&S I have NO idea!). What I really wanted was something that comfortably sucked it all in ... but didn't give me wind Blush I found it quite interesting looking through the (vast) range of option and I settled on something i thought would do the trick.

Q2. Did you shop for shapewear in store or online, or both? Which method do you prefer for buying things like shapewear and why?

Both I tried on line but many things in my size (34GG) were not big enough or not available. I also wanted to get a feel for how things felt. I liked having both methods available (I could research before shopping) but needed to be able to try things on first and for convienence this is easier in store.

I did struggle a little online as what was in the shapewear guide didn't appear to be the full range as I clicked elsewhere and different products appeared.

Q3. Do you think there is enough choice in terms of styles, shapes, sizes, colours etc or not? How was the stock availability when you did your shopping? Were you able to get what you wanted in your size or not?

There is plenty of choice in terms of styles, although much more limited choice for those of us with a more ample bosom, and again the stock availability for those with big boobs was poorer.

Q4. Do you think that the shapewear item(s) you bought were good value for money or not? Why?
I do actually like what I bought (I probably wouldn't have bought it without the voucher as it's way down the list of priorities for clothing for me) I have worn it several times and it does the job for a reasonable price so hmm yes good value for money.

Q5. How satisfied or dissatisfied are you with the shapewear item(s) you bought and why? Is there anything you were particularly impressed with? Or anything you were disappointed by?

Overall realy pleased I bought the slip thingy that you wear with your own bra (Ideal for me with slightly odd shaped big boobs) It sucked everything in and avoided my most hated rolls of back fat (most shapewear concentrates of the front but my issue is largely from the rear). The only thing I was slightly disappointed with was the comfort in the shoulder straps which are a bit itchy/ scratchy and after a couple of hours begin to hurt.

Q6. Do you think there's anything M&S could do to improve the range? Do you think there are any items missing from it at the moment? If you were going to shop for shapewear again, which other retailers (if any!) would you consider buying from?

What I would have liked to have tried would be the similar style (own bra) slip in a long vest version so less leg restriction (it does make me walk a little like a geisha with small steps) or in a shorts style version. I probably have all the shapewear I need for the momment (small children really don't care and it's not really for everyday getting down and messy with the kids). If i didn't need more I would return to M and S.

Q7. Lastly, if it came up in conversation, do you think you'd recommend M&S shapewear to a friend? If so, why? If not, why not?

Yes hid back fat well allowed for boobs and gave me a good figure with minimal farting, what's not to like!

Just wanted to add on the review I wrote about a week ago. I thought I really like the shareware I bought, however after using it for a week I am so disappointed as the elastic is rolling over.

I bought the Flatter Me Lace Back Brazilian light shaping knickers and the Waist Sculpt Wear your own bra slip.

Q1. Have you bought Shapewear from M&S before? When you first started investigating the shapewear range as part of this product test, how easy or difficult was it to find out about the different types of garments available? Did you find what you had in mind?
No, I have a couple of support short type knickers from Debenhams (OK, work, but not comfy) and Primarni (don't work as well). I found it easy (altho' didn't realise that swimwear was classed as shapewear, so I guess that wasn't so clear to me). I looked online in lingerie and it was all laid out pretty well. It would've been nice to have it also categorised into 'problem areas' so - shaping for waist, legs, bum etc - so you could also just look at the whole range for that area. I found online it was mostly arranged by the range name, so you had to keep dipping in and out to find what was relevant. I was looking for something for under a dress to hold the tummy in - and I found that OK.

Q2. Did you shop for shapewear in store or online, or both? Which method do you prefer for buying things like shapewear and why?
Online. I bought a range of slips and waist cinchers to try on before deciding which one to keep to test properly. I guess I probably prefer online - I got stuck in one item and had to have my DH retrieve me. If I'd have been shopping it would either have been with DC and me trying to be uber quick or I'd have been on my own and stuck in a changing room shouting 'help' to a passer by!

Q3. Do you think there is enough choice in terms of styles, shapes, sizes, colours etc or not? How was the stock availability when you did your shopping? Were you able to get what you wanted in your size or not?
Seemed to be a good choice but I was disappointed that the wear your own bra slip (which was the one that fitted best) was not available in black. Size availability was Ok - altho' I ordered the firm control multiway slip and the smallest size was 34A, whereas I'd prefer a 32B.

Q4. Do you think that the shapewear item(s) you bought were good value for money or not? Why?
Hmm....its comparable with other places, like Debenhams. But I'm not sure either item is as controlling for my problem areas as I'd like. For £29.50 I have pretty high expectations that it should work well (altho' it is a good quality item as I'd generaly expect from M&S)

Q5. How satisfied or dissatisfied are you with the shapewear item(s) you bought and why? Is there anything you were particularly impressed with? Or anything you were disappointed by?

Knickers - pnly really bought these to use up rest of voucher. Possibly should've added a bit and bought a waist cincher instead. The knickers were a bit of a disappointment. Not very comfy (lace riding up bottom). And the front panel didn't really do anything shape-wise for me. The front panel had unfinished edges (material is just cut and I presume is manufactured so it doesn't fray) which I wasn't that keen on. Biggest complaint about it was that the thick panel at the front looked vaguely clinical - felt like I was wearing some surgical pants. Felt almost more bizarre that the back was all lacy.

Slip - felt comfy on, altho' walking felt bit restrictive (yy to geisha comment made by PP!). Without clothes the slip fitted much better than the other slips I tried (bandeau....not good for small boobs, multiway didn't sit right at the back). However, the tummy region still allows quite a bit of tummy pooch-ness. So it gives a nice overall smooth shape but the tummy region isn't so great - I would like that much more heavily supported/controlled. I will wear it though as its comfy and gives a nice smooth line.

Q6. Do you think there's anything M&S could do to improve the range? Do you think there are any items missing from it at the moment? If you were going to shop for shapewear again, which other retailers (if any!) would you consider buying from?
I tried on the waist cinchers - and possibly I should've just gone for them in a black and a white. They looked a little like they might've been uncomfy (with that elasticy band at the top which tends to get a bit itchy/sore) and I was worried that wearing it with tops and jeans it might be noticeable. It would be good if you could do the waist cinchers with a covering material that would look more like a jersey top rather than total giveaway lingerie material. And find something else that would keep it up.

For the wear own bra slip, perhaps having a firm control region over the tummy (maybe like the Herve Leger bandage dress criss crossing?).

I would buy something from another supplier if I had heard reports that it was THE thing for making you have a flat tummy even post-dinner (but then I'd probably have to queue behind a squillion other women for that!!!)

Q7. Lastly, if it came up in conversation, do you think you'd recommend M&S shapewear to a friend? If so, why? If not, why not?
If it came up and they were after something specific (wear your own bra, waist cincher) I would suggest they look at the range. I would be honest that I hadn't found it was a miracle worker for me, but I think its certainly good enough to be recomendable to my friends of different shapes and sizes to me.

Q1. Have you bought Shapewear from M&S before? When you first started investigating the shapewear range as part of this product test, how easy or difficult was it to find out about the different types of garments available? Did you find what you had in mind?

No, I've never bought any shapewear before. I had a look at the website when I applied for the test to see what sort of stuff was there.

Q2. Did you shop for shapewear in store or online, or both? Which method do you prefer for buying things like shapewear and why?

I looked online first but then went to a branch as I wanted to try stuff on.

Q3. Do you think there is enough choice in terms of styles, shapes, sizes, colours etc or not? How was the stock availability when you did your shopping? Were you able to get what you wanted in your size or not?

I found it hard in store to work out what was part of the range. I didn't think stock availability was all that good.

Q4. Do you think that the shapewear item(s) you bought were good value for money or not? Why?

Not really - it cost the full £35 for one item. I'd never spend that normally on unglamorous underwear!

Q5. How satisfied or dissatisfied are you with the shapewear item(s) you bought and why? Is there anything you were particularly impressed with? Or anything you were disappointed by?

I have only worn it once, under trousers and a top for work. It got more and more uncomfortable as the day went on as it kept rolling down. I took it off at about 2pm! I will wear it again but probably only for a special occasion.

Q6. Do you think there's anything M&S could do to improve the range? Do you think there are any items missing from it at the moment? If you were going to shop for shapewear again, which other retailers (if any!) would you consider buying from?

I would probably go back to M&S for any more shapewear.

Q7. Lastly, if it came up in conversation, do you think you'd recommend M&S shapewear to a friend? If so, why? If not, why not?

Probably, yes.

I bought a vest top in white and 3 pairs of Brazilian knickers in nude, plum and pink.

Q1. Have you bought Shapewear from M&S before? When you first started investigating the shapewear range as part of this product test, how easy or difficult was it to find out about the different types of garments available? Did you find what you had in mind?

Yes, I've bought m&s shapewear before and found it much easier to browse the range online than in store.

Q2. Did you shop for shapewear in store or online, or both? Which method do you prefer for buying things like shapewear and why?

Tried in store first but just got confused and found the selection limiting. Online was a much better experience with a wider range available.

Q3. Do you think there is enough choice in terms of styles, shapes, sizes, colours etc or not? How was the stock availability when you did your shopping? Were you able to get what you wanted in your size or not?

Availability of items and sizes was fine but some brighter colours would be good. Love the pink Brazilian knickers - greater colour choice would be great.

Q4. Do you think that the shapewear item(s) you bought were good value for money or not? Why?

Yes, I got a vest and 3 pairs of knickers for £30.

Q5. How satisfied or dissatisfied are you with the shapewear item(s) you bought and why? Is there anything you were particularly impressed with? Or anything you were disappointed by?

I love the vest. It doesn't roll up, smooths out lumps and bump and gives me the confidence to wear close fitting dresses & tops.

Q6. Do you think there's anything M&S could do to improve the range? Do you think there are any items missing from it at the moment? If you were going to shop for shapewear again, which other retailers (if any!) would you consider buying from?

They used to do the vest is a sheer nude colour which was great for under summer dresses. Would love to see that back. The white one I bought for testing does get a little warm at times for this time of year.

Q7. Lastly, if it came up in conversation, do you think you'd recommend M&S shapewear to a friend? If so, why? If not, why not?

Yes I'd recommend the vest and the knickers.

Q1. Have you bought Shapewear from M&S before?

I have bought Shapewear before, and ended up taking it all back, I hate trying on in store, as I get all hot and flustered. I was pleased to find Scoop neck Floral Lace vests in three colours, these are great as I love wearing cardigans, and they look attractive with the lace peeking out! I bought all three @£12 each and will wear them a lot, I also bought a pack of 10 denier secret support tights, the 7 denier are only available online

Q2. Did you shop for shapewear in store or online, or both?

I do find it easier to shop on line, and then go to the store to check sizing, but find they never have all of the sizes in all of the colours, and it is hard to find an assistant who is knowledgeable about all of the products

Q3. Do you think there is enough choice in terms of styles, shapes, sizes, colours etc or not?

There is a huge range, at London Colney, but I find it a bit confusing to differentiate between, medium firm and cut you in half and it is overwhelming with choice if you are a skinny minny, not so for larger sizes though.

Q4. Do you think that the shapewear item(s) you bought were good value for money or not? Why?

The Magic waist shaper tights are lovely, but expensive and I have put my thumb through 2 pairs on first wearing. The vests are great and a good price

Q5. How satisfied or dissatisfied are you with the shapewear item(s) you bought and why? Is there anything you were particularly impressed with? Or anything you were disappointed by?

I am pleased with the vests, good colours, black, white and treated myself to the damask. They feel nice on an look good.

The tights are lovely and sheer, smooth and shiny, but the panty bit needs to be stronger as easier to out your thumb through and they ladder downwards, so ruined 2 pairs in one day. £8 a pair!

Q6. Do you think there's anything M&S could do to improve the range? Do you think there are any items missing from it at the moment? If you were going to shop for shapewear again, which other retailers (if any!) would you consider buying from?

Ensure that all sizes are available, especially larger ones!

Q7. Lastly, if it came up in conversation, do you think you'd recommend M&S shapewear to a friend? If so, why? If not, why not?

Maybe, my daughter steals my tights as she has seen them on my legs, even though they are not her size!

Sorry its taken me so long to come to this thread, sick DD's 3 million birthdays stressed as hell Grin

Q1. Have you bought Shapewear from M&S before? When you first started investigating the shapewear range as part of this product test, how easy or difficult was it to find out about the different types of garments available? Did you find what you had in mind?

No I've never brought it from M&S before but I do use M&S for bras. I searched online for shapewear which brought up a good selection. Yes I managed to find what I had in mind.

Q2. Did you shop for shapewear in store or online, or both? Which method do you prefer for buying things like shapewear and why?

I shopped online, usually for something like this I would go instore but it just wasnt possible because my DDs were ill and my youngest wouldn't have the paitence to wait while I shopped. I prefer online shopping though having young children and I hate trying on in store- would rather do this at home.

Q3. Do you think there is enough choice in terms of styles, shapes, sizes, colours etc or not? How was the stock availability when you did your shopping? Were you able to get what you wanted in your size or not?

The stock avalability at the time wasn't great, and most of the items were only in white, black or nude. I also thought the selection for bigger figures and bigger boobs was poor. Yes I got what I wanted in my size but there wasnt anything else in my bra size really.

Q4. Do you think that the shapewear item(s) you bought were good value for money or not? Why?

Yes it seems to be well made.

Q5. How satisfied or dissatisfied are you with the shapewear item(s) you bought and why? Is there anything you were particularly impressed with? Or anything you were disappointed by?

I thought the item was white but when it came it was nude (this was my fault as I must have just misread the description) The item was 'Ultimate Magic Secret Support' and it gives me a good shape but i echo the comments on the M&S site that it is not long enough in the body, however I am quite tall and am used to thinks not fitting me properly so I'm going to make do Smile

Q6. Do you think there's anything M&S could do to improve the range? Do you think there are any items missing from it at the moment? If you were going to shop for shapewear again, which other retailers (if any!) would you consider buying from?

More items for bigger busted women, more colours perhaps bigger sizes - some of the items only seem to go up to a 16. I probably would use M&S again and I know the products are good quality and good prices.

Q7. Lastly, if it came up in conversation, do you think you'd recommend M&S shapewear to a friend? If so, why? If not, why not?

Yes I would, for the reasons above- Good prices and quality.

Firstly many thanks to Mumsnet and M&S for inviting me to take part in this trial.

Q1. Have you bought Shapewear from M&S before? When you first started investigating the shapewear range as part of this product test, how easy or difficult was it to find out about the different types of garments available? Did you find what you had in mind?

I bought a pair of control pants a few years ago but found they were too uncomfortable to wear everyday so only wore them on special occasions. I looked at the website at first but was a bit bewildered by the range on offer. However when I visited the store I found what I wanted

Q2. Did you shop for shapewear in store or online, or both? Which method do you prefer for buying things like shapewear and why?

I visted my local store (Norwich) which recently been enlarged and now has a great lingerie department. The shapewear was all together and there was a largeb range. I both shop in store and on line with M&S depending on if I justv want to browse or if I want a particular item it is easier to find it online.

Q3. Do you think there is enough choice in terms of styles, shapes, sizes, colours etc or not? How was the stock availability when you did your shopping? Were you able to get what you wanted in your size or not?

There was a lot of choice in store which I did find a little confusing. However the stock availability was excellant and I could get both items I purchased in the right size and colour.

Q4. Do you think that the shapewear item(s) you bought were good value for money or not? Why?

I wanted pants to wear everyday and got the 2 Pack - Light Control No VPL High Rise Assorted Full Briefs for £12.50 which I think are excellant value. I got the black and nude colours and they are great. They are comfortable enough to wear everyday but they do makeyou look smoother and more shapely. I also wanted something for wearing on special occasions under close fitting dresses and got the Firm Control Panelled Selvedge Waist Cincher for £19.50. Surprisingly comfortable and gives a great shape. Again very value for money.

Q5. How satisfied or dissatisfied are you with the shapewear item(s) you bought and why? Is there anything you were particularly impressed with? Or anything you were disappointed by?

I am very satisfied with the items I bought. I had imagined that shapewear would be very constricting and uncomfortable and was pleasantly surprised by how wearable the items are.

Q6. Do you think there's anything M&S could do to improve the range? Do you think there are any items missing from it at the moment? If you were going to shop for shapewear again, which other retailers (if any!) would you consider buying from?

The range is very comprehensive and I can't think of anything missing. At the time I was invited to the trial I has a special event coming up and had thought of buying Spanx but now I would go back to M&S. I am going to buy some more of the briefs for everyday wear and will be looking at the shapewear tights for the winter. I will alswo be buying one the tummy control swimsuits for my holdiay after having looked at them in store.

Q7. Lastly, if it came up in conversation, do you think you'd recommend M&S shapewear to a friend? If so, why? If not, why not?

I would definately recommend the products to a friend as I am very impressed.

Took me while to decide on the items I wanted, and then took me longer to be able to put them on, as I've had a bad fall and injured my back.(no wriggling possible!)
anyway,
1.Have you bought M+S shapewear before? No, I don't think so-i may have had some tummy taming pants at some point..It was easy to look at the range of options available, I just clicked on the "shapewear " selection online and there were page of things, I looked at all the different options. There were some things I liked but my size wasn't in stock, or the style/colour I preferred wasn't available, that was the main hiccup with finding something I liked.
2,I shopped solely online as due to my fall I haven't been able to get to my nearest store,( it is an hour away). But their lingerie dept isn't large anyway, so I probably had more choice online. I would have liked it better if I'd been able to try things in a large store, but I am used to online shopping so it wasn't a big issue.

  1. There were lots of different styles to scroll through, but often not much colour choice. In packs of two knickers there is usually white, or nude, along with black. I would have liked to see more colour. Stylewise there was quite a bit of overlap, and there could have been more real variation with some more interesting styles. Lovely vintage-y things in the non shapwear section, and I feel the shapewear could be sexed up a bit. And also made more classy looking, too many teeny little bows on boxer shorts etc.

I found it hard to find something as the things in my size were either not available or sold out. That did govern what I ended up choosing and if I hadn't had the voucher to fulfill I would have given up and looked elsewhere.
4. I think they look good value for money, the things I have seem well made and nice fabric, the body is a decent length, not too short , which is usually the mark of a more expensive item.
5.How satisfied am I? Well I ordered the "flatter me"high rise lace light shaping shorts, and the high rise cotton rich light control shorts (two pack), and the light control floral lace body. I really like the flatter me shorts, they fit well in my actual size (I often size up in M+S as I think they can be small) and they actually are flattering and don't look like solution pants..! I am less keen on the other shorts, I sized up but they still seem as though they might dig in around the thighs and be uncomfortable. I am exchanging them as I also don't like the nude colour, or the little bow (although I would snip that off if all else seemed good). The body fits nicely but is a bit snug on the bust, I am a 30FF bra and bought a 12, if I sized up to the 14 the body would be too loose. The body length is great and that is something I struggle to find as I am 5'8", but it didn't cut in and is a nice shape at the hips and bottom. I liked it more than I thought I would, I am exchanging it though, because of the bust and the colour (nude again, black would have been a better choice). Would like something like this with a few size choices of say small, medium and full cup (it is a soft stretchy cup so will go over a bra, doesn't warrant actual bra sizes).
6. I think more colour would improve the range no end. And also changing the nude shade, which is actually a strange dead looking mushroom. A peachy colour would be much better on me, and there could be other shades for other skin tones as they did have in some shorts I saw, that sadly didn't have my size available. I also think that as shapewear only ever looks sexy in a 50's kind of a way, or possible a slinky 70's way, having some really good retro styling on the range would improve it no end. (and M+S, if you are reading this, I have some amazing real vintage pieces that you could use for inspiration if you want)
-I would buy again, I would check out M+S before other places probably, and then only look elsewhere if I couldn't find what I needed, or my size. I also buy things from big online retailers like figleaves, and Bravissimo for things in my cup size.
  1. Yes I would suggest M+S to a friend if it came up in conversation.I think the products are good and am pleased to say that. I think I am like most of Britain in that I trust M+S and feel loyal to them, I am glad we still have them on the high street and take pleasure in them doing something well.

Please remember to include details of which shapewear item(s) you bought with your £30 voucher in your response.

Q1. Have you bought Shapewear from M&S before? When you first started investigating the shapewear range as part of this product test, how easy or difficult was it to find out about the different types of garments available? Did you find what you had in mind?

Yes, i have some big control pants from a few years ago. They were always rubbish until I lost a couple of stone and suddenly they worked a treat once I was a few sizes smaller than the size on the label. I was hoping things would be improved by now but sadly not.

Q2. Did you shop for shapewear in store or online, or both? Which method do you prefer for buying things like shapewear and why?

I browsed online but prefer to buy things like that after seeing them. Found different items in the shop than i'd seen online. Having gone back on line though to look up what i'd bought from the receipt, I can see loads of other things that probably would have suited me a lot better.

Q3. Do you think there is enough choice in terms of styles, shapes, sizes, colours etc or not? How was the stock availability when you did your shopping? Were you able to get what you wanted in your size or not?

There were some lace bandeau pants that I liked the look of but were not in my size in the shop which was a shame.

I'd really like to see some interesting colours - you have some lovely colours in your bra collection, why not make the pants available to match? The shapewear section seemed a bit depressing with a sea of black white and nude colours everywhere.

Q4. Do you think that the shapewear item(s) you bought were good value for money or not? Why?
They were a bit pricey, £19.50 for one pair of pants, but if they had worked as well as I'd hoped I wouldn't mind paying that

Q5. How satisfied or dissatisfied are you with the shapewear item(s) you bought and why? Is there anything you were particularly impressed with? Or anything you were disappointed by?

I was really disappointed and took some of it back. I would have taken it all back to be honest, but the first pair of pants I just put on with nothing underneath and wore them for a bit so couldn't take them back then!

I bought the following (code from receipt):

09976146T32 - a double pack of light control shorts, I think i was drawn to these as there was a purple pair, so a different colour. I am size 14-16 (that's a genuine size, I think, not being vain, I have some size 12 jeans) and bought size 16 - they were far too small and dug in and rolled down and gave me dreadful saddlebags. I'm not sure where they were supposed to sit, pulled up to the waist looked odd, but at hip height, where you might expect shorts to sit, they gave a shocking muffin top. I would have taken these back, but wore the first pair first so couldn't.

05585403T32 - high leg pants, really uncomfortable, dug in and rolled down, seemed a few sizes too small (but shouldn't have been, I really don't want to by size 22 pants..). took these back

09042575T32 - 'magic' lace shorts - these were the best thing I bought, don't dig in too much and stayed in place, sat nicely on the waist, will wear again

01878325T32 - waist cinching slip - I was really excited about this as it came up to bra height so I thought would not have the muffin top issues, etc and it would be great under a dress. I wore it for about 3 minutes and it rolled down and rode up and ended up in a big bunch around my waist. Took it back. To be fair, I did buy this in a size 14 for some reason so it was probably a bit small, but I can't imagine going up one size would make that much difference.

Overall it seems that you really have to size up with shapewear items, although from glancing other feedback not many other people seem to have had problems. I am an apple shape though, so my stomach is where the weight is, i guess for this I would have been better with a full body slip, anchored over my shoulders and on legs to keep it in place!

Q6. Do you think there's anything M&S could do to improve the range? Do you think there are any items missing from it at the moment? If you were going to shop for shapewear again, which other retailers (if any!) would you consider buying from?

Well it would be better if it fit me :)

Q7. Lastly, if it came up in conversation, do you think you'd recommend M&S shapewear to a friend? If so, why? If not, why not?

I wouldn't recommend it, no, but I might suggest it for a try, it clearly suits some people, just not me.

Q1. Have you bought Shapewear from M&S before? When you first started investigating the shapewear range as part of this product test, how easy or difficult was it to find out about the different types of garments available? Did you find what you had in mind?
? Yes, I bought firm control knickers that I wore for my wedding.
? A lot of choice online, it was more difficult to identify what was in the shapewear range in-store.
? I was looking for swimwear, I didn?t find anything I particularly liked.

Q2. Did you shop for shapewear in store or online, or both? Which method do you prefer for buying things like shapewear and why?
? I shopped online, I did look in-store but both stores I looked in were small, so the choice was limited.
? I prefer buying online as with three small children it is much easier. I also feel the underwear serves a purpose and is not necessarily meant to pretty on, as long as it looks OK with clothes on. However any tops or swimwear I would prefer to buy in-store as I would like to try before I buy.

Q3. Do you think there is enough choice in terms of styles, shapes, sizes, colours etc or not? How was the stock availability when you did your shopping? Were you able to get what you wanted in your size or not?
? Yes I have found various shapes and types and colours for what I was looking for.
? I was able to get what I wanted in my size.

Q4. Do you think that the shapewear item(s) you bought were good value for money or not? Why?
? I bought four pairs of knickers/shorts at £7.50 each and one two pack of light control briefs at £9.50 and I got £5 off. I felt I got a lot for my money.

Q5. How satisfied or dissatisfied are you with the shapewear item(s) you bought and why? Is there anything you were particularly impressed with? Or anything you were disappointed by?
? I was very satisfied, I thought the knickers/ shorts are pretty, functional and comfortable. The two pack briefs are a bit like ?belly-warmers? but comfortable.

Q6. Do you think there's anything M&S could do to improve the range? Do you think there are any items missing from it at the moment? If you were going to shop for shapewear again, which other retailers (if any!) would you consider buying from?
? I would have liked to have seen more choice in swimwear as I am top-heavy I find it quite hard to find swimwear that is stylish and supportive.
? Debenhams possibly House of Fraser
Q7. Lastly, if it came up in conversation, do you think you'd recommend M&S shapewear to a friend? If so, why? If not, why not?
? Yes I would recommend, I found their items reasonable priced. A variety of choice, comfortable and yet not unattractive.

Q1. I have bought the 60 denier black tights before, but not because they were shapewear but because I liked the look and the denier. There were so many varieties of garment and control levels. There was a satisfactory amount of information in the online guide referring to styles and what benefits/features they had. I found more than I had in mind; the reviews online from other customers helped my selections.

Q2. When I eventually could get into town I looked for the range in store. I would not have purchased from here though as it is situated in a busy aisle opposite the menswear dept, it was at the front of the lingerie section, could be a bit more discreet by being a stand in or two! And it was next to the thoroughfare for the toilets and baby change facilities. I would rather that I look like the result of someone who doesn't need Shapewear but whether I actually do wear it or not is a mystery to everyone else so I would shop online rather than in store.

Q3. There is plenty of choice. The stock availability was fine for all but about 1 item out of 9/10 I looked at. The camisole vest was out of stock in my size.

Q4. Oh yes. The quality of all of the items, all look and feel good.

Q5. Both of the brief items were fine and did their job however the waist cincher was so cinched I could not get it over my thighs to sample its effectiveness! Reviews for similar products said to opt for a size or two larger but I thought they must be written by people ordering a smaller size than they physically need! But alas no even though I am back to a size 10 after my second child earlier this year I could not get the thing up and over my thighs! I perhaps could have tried harder to hoist myself into the cincher when the children are not around and I have more patience like someone else said they tried and tried to get it on and after they did the results were good. I would have returned it and exchanged for a different size as the few reviews on here for the heritage waist cincher are favourable but I can?t remember where I put the gift card I bought it with! When I go back to work I may purchase one for under my office wear of pencil style dresses to give a nice flat tummy. I have a small waist but would like a more toned tummy which I hope the cincher would help with.
I liked the Brazilian pants, the lace back is feminine. I really liked the colours available. I opted for light aubergine.

Q6. I think the different levels of control could be illustrated in the shapewear guide online and in store. Just a chart or something to show the varying levels available, from light to......... I would like to see more support camisole style vests available and a better stock depth of sizes available. Someone else had a great idea to create nursing bras in the same colours as the shapewear pants and cinchers for those wanting to breastfeed but control their post baby tummy. I would second that idea. Also the camisole vests could be available with a nursing option. Mothercare produce something like this.

Q7. I would if they initiated the conversation mind you! I would because the pants in two packs are good value at £7.50. The flatter me Brazilian pants are more feminine in fabric and style whilst giving ample coverage and control. The cincher well it looks very nice but I may have to stop there until I can huff and puff and pull it up over my thighs to review it further! Oh the shame!

Thank you very much for letting me be a tester.

I bought the Waist & Thigh Cincher

Q1. Have you bought Shapewear from M&S before? When you first started investigating the shapewear range as part of this product test, how easy or difficult was it to find out about the different types of garments available? Did you find what you had in mind?

Never bought it before, had considered it but the price put me off in case it didn't work. It was relatively easy to find out about the products online, however there was a serious lack of availability. When I discovered I had been selected for the trial I chose what I wanted but by the time the voucher arrived it was out of stock.

Q2. Did you shop for shapewear in store or online, or both? Which method do you prefer for buying things like shapewear and why?

I shopped online as my local store is a bit like a jumble sale in the lingerie department and the last thing I want to do is stand there rummaging through racks of shapewear trying to find my size. I also find it very difficult to find items in the store compared to online, as nothing seems to be grouped together logically. The only downsize to online shopping is the postage charge. I will admit that this puts me off buying a lot of things, as I put them off until I am buying a lot of items and then either forget about it or it goes out of stock. Although it may not seem much, it is a psychological barrier to purchasing, particularly now so many companies do not charge.

Q3. Do you think there is enough choice in terms of styles, shapes, sizes, colours etc or not? How was the stock availability when you did your shopping? Were you able to get what you wanted in your size or not?

If everything you showed was actually available then I would answer yes to this question, however it was laughable how much was out of stock, particularly as this issue has been highlighted as one of the reasons M&S suffered poorer sales than expected recently. I was impressed when I initially went online at the wide scope of things on offer, much more than I expected. I then became more and more downhearted as each thing I selected was unavailable. If I had not been taking part in a trial with a free voucher I would not have persevered.

Q4. Do you think that the shapewear item(s) you bought were good value for money or not? Why?

I think that they were slightly overpriced at £35. Even though I used the £5 off "Lingerie" code I then had to pay postage which bumped the price up again. I don't think I would have bought this particular item for £35 if I had had to buy it myself, although I probably would have spent it on my first or second choice (which were out of stock).

Q5. How satisfied or dissatisfied are you with the shapewear item(s) you bought and why? Is there anything you were particularly impressed with? Or anything you were disappointed by?

The item itself was surprisingly effective - it does not make you magically slim but it is effective at smoothing out lumps and bumps, so gives a better overall appearance. I bought the nude, and was actually amazed at how close to real nude the colour was once it was on. I was a bit disappointed with the back length - felt it could have been a bit longer.

Q6. Do you think there's anything M&S could do to improve the range? Do you think there are any items missing from it at the moment? If you were going to shop for shapewear again, which other retailers (if any!) would you consider buying from?

The most important thing you should do to improve the range is to sort out stock availability. It is actually an impressive range overall, but not when everything is out of stock. I wish I had known swimwear was available though - when I did a search on shapewear only underwear came up, but someone else on here mentioned swimwear being available, so maybe you could get that added when you search online. Most of the pretty stuff was for smaller sizes - I think there is a lot of pretty stuff available elsewhere for smaller sizes, so maybe you could see what you could do to improve the larger sizes? I would probably also look at Debenhams if I was going to purchase shapewear again as I have never had a problem with stock availability there, although that may be luck.

Q7. Lastly, if it came up in conversation, do you think you'd recommend M&S shapewear to a friend? If so, why? If not, why not?

Yes, I probably would. It may not be something I would bring up in conversation, but if I were asked I would probably suggest it as an option to smooth out lumps and bumps.

Thank you for letting me try this, it is something I wanted to try but was reluctant to take the plunge. I will buy again.

Q1. I have bought light control pants from M&S before. I also have some super-strength Spanx for special occasions which are hell to get into and not v. comfortable to wear but reduce my hips by a dress size. I used the M&S website which is very easy to navigate - I wanted some cool light control shorts to wear under maxi dresses during the summer, and found a couple of possibilities online.

Q2.I did my initial investigations online, but I need to actually try garments on. Am tall so am not a standard fit.

Q3. There was plenty of variety but I couldn't order what I wanted in my size (18) online for collection in-store, which is ironic considering the nature and function of these garments. There appeared to be lots of choice in theory, but in practice it was poor. I wanted either the Cool Comfort Cotton Rich Light Control Daisy Floral Lace Thigh Slimmers but only sizes 8-14 were in stock, or the the Light Control Secret Slimming? Bonded Thigh Slimmers but only size 8 was in stock. I eventually tried on both styles and purchased the latter garment in my local branch, which seemed to have plenty in stock in all sizes.

Q4. Yes, the item I purchased is a reasonable price compable to Spanx or the Trinny and Susannah ranges of shapewear. They are good quality garments which hold their shape well after washing.

Q5. I was quite happy with the item I purchased but would have preferred the shorts legs to be longer (I am 5'10). Very disappointed with lack of online availability in my size.

Q6. I would like to see M&S shapewear (and other lingerie ranges) - particularly the shorts - available for taller women. Basques and bodies, for example, are far too short for me - I have to go up at least one size and then they do not fit properly around the bust. I would consider buying from the Spanx range because I have purchased them before.

Q7.I would recommend M&S shapewear because there is a very wide range of styles available (in store if not online) and garments are good value for money.

Q1. Have you bought Shapewear from M&S before? When you first started investigating the shapewear range as part of this product test, how easy or difficult was it to find out about the different types of garments available? Did you find what you had in mind? No, I've not bought from this range before. I found the information on the M&S website really useful for finding out what was in the range and the problem areas each garment was supposed to target (the videos in particular).

Q2. Did you shop for shapewear in store or online, or both? Which method do you prefer for buying things like shapewear and why? I did my shopping online. Generally I prefer to shop online as I have young children whose tolerance for long shopping trips and changing rooms is not very high! Also, online you can see the full range (even if some items are out of stock) whereas in store you can only choose from whatever stock that particular store carries and has left. I prefer to try a range of sizes at home with other items that I already own and return those that don't fit than to try on in-store.

Q3. Do you think there is enough choice in terms of styles, shapes, sizes, colours etc or not? How was the stock availability when you did your shopping? Were you able to get what you wanted in your size or not? There is a huge range to choose from however some of the things I would have liked to try were out of stock online. The in-stock items that I liked were available in my size. There wasn't much choice in terms of colours - the 'nude' shades were all very pale, something more suitable for darker skin tones would have been nice as would some stronger/deeper colours, rather than the 'old-lady' lilac for example.

Q4. Do you think that the shapewear item(s) you bought were good value for money or not? Why? I bought the ultimate magic body define waist cincher pants in black and the flatter me high rise lace light shaping shorts in black. The waist cincher was £29.50 - more than I would usually contemplate spending on a pair of knickers. The shorts were £7.50 which I think is an acceptable price for shaping underwear.

Q5. How satisfied or dissatisfied are you with the shapewear item(s) you bought and why? Is there anything you were particularly impressed with? Or anything you were disappointed by? I was impressed with the waist cincher although you have to make sure you pull them all the way up to your bra to avoid an unsightly fat-roll between the two. These were very comfortable as well as giving a nice smooth silhouette. I also liked that I could wear these to smooth out my mummy-tummy and when breastfeeding, I did not need a specific nursing top as the waist cincher prevented any unwanted tummy exposure. I probably would never have bought these if it wasn't for this trial due to the price but having tried them, I think they will become an essential part of my wardrobe. The light shaping shorts are also very comfortable, they are not as supportive (but the clue is in the name) but great for everyday wear and the lace finish is pretty.

Q6. Do you think there's anything M&S could do to improve the range? Do you think there are any items missing from it at the moment? If you were going to shop for shapewear again, which other retailers (if any!) would you consider buying from? I think the range of colours could be expanded and it would be great if there was a greater range of camisoles/vest tops too. If I was to shop for shapewear again I'd probably do my research online first - I often buy underwear from Figleaves as they carry a range of brands - I would probably also consider La Senza and department stores as well as M&S.

Q7. Lastly, if it came up in conversation, do you think you'd recommend M&S shapewear to a friend? If so, why? If not, why not? Yes, because I am happy with the items that I have tried from the range.

I purchased SECRETSUPPORT tummy control thigh slimmer Daisy Lace collection (white, size 18) and SECRETSLIMMING HIGH LEG, flattens tummy, LIGHT (black, size 18)

Q1. Have you bought Shapewear from M&S before? When you first started investigating the shapewear range as part of this product test, how easy or difficult was it to find out about the different types of garments available? Did you find what you had in mind? I have purchased shapewear from M&S before, but it was a very long time ago. I purchased the items in-store after doing some research online, however I was not able to purchase the items I selected, the instore range was limited and lots of items were not available in my size.

Q2. Did you shop for shapewear in store or online, or both? Which method do you prefer for buying things like shapewear and why? I was disappointed in the range available in my local store, in future I will choose to shop online.

Q3. Do you think there is enough choice in terms of styles, shapes, sizes, colours etc or not? How was the stock availability when you did your shopping? Were you able to get what you wanted in your size or not? The range and availability online was excellent, however either have a very reduced range or item's were out of stock.

Q4. Do you think that the shapewear item(s) you bought were good value for money or not? Why? I would never normally spend this amount of money on knickers! Probably only for a special occasion.

Q5. How satisfied or dissatisfied are you with the shapewear item(s) you bought and why? Is there anything you were particularly impressed with? Or anything you were disappointed by? I don't think the thigh slimmer was "firm control", more like light - medium, and although the lace made them look a little a little less like "Granny bloomers", it was quite itchy and uncomfortable. The high leg knickers were of much better quality and the material was soft and comfortable and I was very pleased with them apart from the fact that the top rolled down quite a lot, which was very annoying! I would say that the sizes came up slightly big as well.

Q6. Do you think there's anything M&S could do to improve the range? Do you think there are any items missing from it at the moment? If you were going to shop for shapewear again, which other retailers (if any!) would you consider buying from? The range seems to have too many different labels and names, it SECRETSLIMMING/SECRETSUPPORT neither of the items I purchased had "shapewear" on the label, I think it would be better if the range had clearer branding and maybe a colour code system for light, medium and firm control. The online range was excellent, I don't think there are any items missing. I would always consider M&S first for this type of product.

Q7. Lastly, if it came up in conversation, do you think you'd recommend M&S shapewear to a friend? If so, why? If not, why not? Yes I would, but I would recommend buying online and ordering a couple of sizes so that you can get the right fit.

Q1. Have you bought Shapewear from M&S before? When you first started investigating the shapewear range as part of this product test, how easy or difficult was it to find out about the different types of garments available? Did you find what you had in mind?

Never bought it before, but it was easy to find on the website. Less well signposted in the two stores I was in (but i wasn't shopping for shapewear at that point, so had I been properly looking, it might have been more obvious. I bought the waist cincher, tummy control knickers and slimming fit tights. It was quite straightforward to work out what product did what.

Q2. Did you shop for shapewear in store or online, or both? Which method do you prefer for buying things like shapewear and why?

Bought online, simply because I haven't been well and the thought of driving to Bluewater (to get the widest range) didn't appeal at all. I woudl generally prefer to actually try this kind of stuff on before buying though, mostly to get the right size.

Q3. Do you think there is enough choice in terms of styles, shapes, sizes, colours etc or not? How was the stock availability when you did your shopping? Were you able to get what you wanted in your size or not?

Plenty of stock available in my size online, I suspect that there may have not been so much in store (size 18). I'm a "basic" underwear kind of person, so the choice was fien for me. There wasn't a lot of "pretty" or "sexy" stuff though, for those who prefer that.

Q4. Do you think that the shapewear item(s) you bought were good value for money or not? Why?

Yes, good value for money - the waist cincher took three inches of my waist, which I liked, but was also Blush that there three inches of spare me to hoik in Grin. Probably wouldn't buy the knickers for every day wear, as they are more expesive than the usual multi-packs I get.

Q5. How satisfied or dissatisfied are you with the shapewear item(s) you bought and why? Is there anything you were particularly impressed with? Or anything you were disappointed by?

See above - three inches off my middle is a result!

Q6. Do you think there's anything M&S could do to improve the range? Do you think there are any items missing from it at the moment? If you were going to shop for shapewear again, which other retailers (if any!) would you consider buying from?

Probably would look in Debenhams and John Lewis, which is where I would be buying underwear generally (along with M&S). I'd've liked possibly a waist cincher which didn't include knickers (so more an old fashioned corset-type thing). I did't see one if it is in the range.

Q7. Lastly, if it came up in conversation, do you think you'd recommend M&S shapewear to a friend? If so, why? If not, why not?

Would recommend it, particularly when people notice I've "lost weight" Grin.

Q1. Have you bought Shapewear from M&S before? When you first started investigating the shapewear range as part of this product test, how easy or difficult was it to find out about the different types of garments available? Did you find what you had in mind?
Yes have bought from here before and finally decided on a DD+ multiway body to wear underneath a dress for a forthcoming wedding

Q2. Did you shop for shapewear in store or online, or both? Which method do you prefer for buying things like shapewear and why?
I did both but ended up shopping on line as there was a greater range of sizes

Q3. Do you think there is enough choice in terms of styles, shapes, sizes, colours etc or not? How was the stock availability when you did your shopping? Were you able to get what you wanted in your size or not?
I need a DD+ so found the options quite limited. Also all of the items I initially liked were not in my size. I would have preferred a greater range of colours - pastels, red etc as, especially in the larger cup sizes, the nude colour could look quite 'surgical'!

Q4. Do you think that the shapewear item(s) you bought were good value for money or not? Why? The body was £35 which I thought was on a par with the other big lingerie brands

Q5. How satisfied or dissatisfied are you with the shapewear item(s) you bought and why?
Unfortunately I could not even get the body on neither from feet up or from head down and got into a bit of hot sweat trying :-( cup size does not always equate to body size. However I shall be returning and buying a different item of shapewear

Q6. Do you think there's anything M&S could do to improve the range? Do you think there are any items missing from it at the moment? If you were going to shop for shapewear again, which other retailers (if any!) would you consider buying from? I would prefer a greater range of colours and for the items to be prettier and more feminine. Also I would prefer softer, seamed cups rather than molded cups that don't always fit right. I do buy from M&S but also Bravissimo, Freyer, Boux Avenue

Q7. Lastly, if it came up in conversation, do you think you'd recommend M&S shapewear to a friend? If so, why? If not, why not? Yes, even though this product didn't work out I have had items before that have done as promised on the label.

Q1. Have you bought Shapewear from M&S before? When you first started investigating the shapewear range as part of this product test, how easy or difficult was it to find out about the different types of garments available? Did you find what you had in mind?

I have brought Shapewear before, some control pants. I looked at the range online, but brought in store. I found its section easily, but the products were spread over a number of shelves with only the full control ones labelled as shapewear. As I looked I found some lovely lace items.

Q2. Did you shop for shapewear in store or online, or both? Which method do you prefer for buying things like shapewear and why?

I shopped in store, but looked at the range up online. I prefer to buy these items instore as I can mix and match colours and consider sizes, with advice as required.

Q3. Do you think there is enough choice in terms of styles, shapes, sizes, colours etc or not? How was the stock availability when you did your shopping? Were you able to get what you wanted in your size or not?

Sunday morning in a shopping centre did mean that there was a range of colours and sizes with 3 or 4 of my size (12)

Q4. Do you think that the shapewear item(s) you bought were good value for money or not? Why?

I thought they were very good value and brought a selection of different pants - 6 pairs

Q5. How satisfied or dissatisfied are you with the shapewear item(s) you bought and why? Is there anything you were particularly impressed with? Or anything you were disappointed by?

I have been very satified with the items. I have tried them under trousers, skirts and a smart dress. I very pleased with the line they gave me and helped control my post baby stomach! The range has really improved fom last time I brought some a few years ago and the look is good. They nolonger have that Briget Jones big pants look!

Q6. Do you think there's anything M&S could do to improve the range? Do you think there are any items missing from it at the moment? If you were going to shop for shapewear again, which other retailers (if any!) would you consider buying from?

I would have liked to match them with other items eg bra and with further colours..

Q7. Lastly, if it came up in conversation, do you think you'd recommend M&S shapewear to a friend? If so, why? If not, why not?

I would recommend them to a friend as they were comfortable and the lace was flattering

Q1. Have you bought Shapewear from M&S before? When you first started investigating the shapewear range as part of this product test, how easy or difficult was it to find out about the different types of garments available? Did you find what you had in mind?

I haven't bought it before. I found it easy to find out about what was available (looking online). I wanted a shapewear body and found a few options that looked good.

Q2. Did you shop for shapewear in store or online, or both? Which method do you prefer for buying things like shapewear and why?

I looked online first, then went to a store to buy. I didn't want to buy online as I thought I would need to try the items on, and was right to do so as not everything in my size fitted well. However, in future I would buy online because it was so much easier to find what I wanted. In the store it didn't seem to be organised well (e.g. one type of garment in three or four places rather than all together) and then really hard to find my size, everything was quite messy.

Q3. Do you think there is enough choice in terms of styles, shapes, sizes, colours etc or not? How was the stock availability when you did your shopping? Were you able to get what you wanted in your size or not?

I'd like to see a wider variety of colours and styles, I didn't really feel that there was much choice in the smaller sizes (I'm about a 10). I really wanted a body and I found this one Light Control Floral Lace Body but it was the only one that fitted. It would be great if it came in more colours. I also got the Body Solutions Bandeau Slip

Q4. Do you think that the shapewear item(s) you bought were good value for money or not? Why?

Yes, I thought they were reasonably priced and was very pleased to get 2 items with the money given!

Q5. How satisfied or dissatisfied are you with the shapewear item(s) you bought and why? Is there anything you were particularly impressed with? Or anything you were disappointed by?

Quite satisfied. The body fits well, is comfortable and I think looks reasonably good, although I think the design could be a little sexier. The bandeau slip also fits well. However I didn't really feel that they improved my shape much, I was expecting a greater difference in the 'before' and 'after' iyswim!

Q6. Do you think there's anything M&S could do to improve the range? Do you think there are any items missing from it at the moment? If you were going to shop for shapewear again, which other retailers (if any!) would you consider buying from?

I think the range could be made more attractive, sexier. More colours would help, or just adding a bit of coloured trimming to some of the black items.

Q7. Lastly, if it came up in conversation, do you think you'd recommend M&S shapewear to a friend? If so, why? If not, why not?

Probably not, as I thought it was ok but not anything amazing, and I didn't think there was enough choice.

Q1. Have you bought Shapewear from M&S before? When you first started investigating the shapewear range as part of this product test, how easy or difficult was it to fd out about the different types of garments available? Did you find what you had in mind?

I have never bought shapeware from anywhere before. I never had the need to wear shapeware underwear and never looked into that. I could not find what I had in mind which was waist cincher which buttons below so toilet trips are not a struggle!

Q2. Did you shop for shapewear in store or online, or both? Which method do you prefer for buying things like shapewear and why?

I shopped online at first and initially bought 3 items as i used £5 off offer and free delivery which I thought was fantastic! Unfortunately I had to return them as none of them fit me. I returned them by post but it took really long and just got my refund a few days ago.
Today we went to the shop in lakeside and bought 2 items in store

  • waist sculpt tummy control waist cincher in nude

-tummy control cotton rich kickers 2 pack in white
I prefer to buy online as the variety in shop was limited and very poor compared to online. The only downside of buying it online is that cannot see and touch the items but I find online reviews invaluable while choosing!

Q3. Do you think there is enough choice in terms of styles, shapes, sizes, colours etc or not? How was the stock availability when you did your shopping? Were you able to get what you wanted in your size or not?
In store I couldnt find the items I wanted to get after browsing online! There were no sizes and colors available of the items I liked in store! It was very disappointing actually! I wanted the waist cincher in black but they only had white or nude colors. Sale assistant said it does not come in black which was untrue as I ordered it in black online with my 1st order but was too small.
Online I had no problems with ordering and stock availibility

Q4. Do you think that the shapewear item(s) you bought were good value for money or not? Why?
I never bought shapeware before and was surprised how expensive they were! As it is occassion wear for me i believe it is good value for money but I would probably browse other shops too before I buy again as I find M&S items a bit over priced.

Q5. How satisfied or dissatisfied are you with the shapewear item(s) you bought and why? Is there anything you were particularly impressed with? Or anything you were disappointed by?
The kickers looked higher waist on the photo but were actually quite low on me which I am not happy with! The fabric is very nice to touch onand they provide good firm control.
The cincher was difficult to put on as I have wide hips but small waist! Also pulling them down was very very hard which will make toilet trips a challenge! I was hopping the cincher buttons from below but it was slip on one :-(
Overall I am satisfied as they are my first shapeware

Q6. Do you think there's anything M&S could do to improve the range? Do you think there are any items missing from it at the moment? If you were going to shop for shapewear again, which other retailers (if any!) would you consider buying from?
I think a cincher with buttons below would be useful.
I would consider Matalan, Primark, Tesco,Asda, Sainsbury's and others perhaps

Q7. Lastly, if it came up in conversation, do you think you'd recommend M&S shapewear to a friend? If so, why? If not, why not?
I think I would recommend as it is good quality and price might not be an issue for others
