NOW CLOSED: Tesco’s Naturally Powered (antibacterial spray or non-bio washing powder) product testers review thread

AnnMumsnet · 01/05/2012 14:54

This thread is for the 1000 Mumsnetters who are trying out the Naturally Powered range of cleaning products by Tesco.

If you don't know about these products, here's what Tesco has to say:

"In the past, green cleaning products have been let down by their performance. Working closely with a team of chemists, scientists and environmental experts, we have created the Naturally Powered range of eco cleaning products - specially formulated to have a reduced impact on the environment than other leading products and with the cleaning performance you'd expect."

Mumsnetters have been testing either the antibacterial spray or the non-bio washing powder. In addition, all testers received a trial-sized sachet of washing up liquid.

If you are a tester, please state which product you were testing and answer the questions below - feel free to also add any other comments you may have.

Everyone who adds their comments to this thread will be entered into a prize draw, where one person will win £200 of Tesco vouchers.

Questions:

Q1. What was your opinion of the Naturally Powered products before using them?

Q2. After using the products, what was your over all opinion? Did the products work? Were you happy with the performance? Did you like the smell and feel of the products?

Q3. How did the products compare to your usual cleaning products? Did it work just as well, better or worse than the products you usually use?

Q4. How important are the green credentials of the Naturally Powered range to you? Would this affect your decision to buy? If so, why? If not, why not?

Q5. Will you continue to buy the Tesco Naturally Powered range? If so, why? If not why not?

Q6. What, if any, improvements would you make to the Naturally Powered products you were testing?

Q7. If it came up in conversation, would you recommend the products to a friend? If so, why? If not, why not?

Thanks and good luck with the prize draw!

I have been using the washing powder.

Q1. What was your opinion of the Naturally Powered products before using them?

The smell was lovely, but thought the packaging a tad dull and not one that would leap out at me.

Q2. After using the products, what was your over all opinion? Did the products work? Were you happy with the performance? Did you like the smell and feel of the products?

I have done 4 loads of washing so far. One very muddy rugby kit, a mixed bag, towels and bed linen and a lights wash.

TBH I was not expecting the muddy rugby gear to be gleaming clean (I normally have a scoop of Vanish or Ariel stain remover in that wash cycle), but it did. I used about 45g of the powder and was pleasingly surprised that it did the job.

The other three washes all produced good results as well. I do like the smell and, unlike the problem many appear to have had, there was no residue left in the drawer.

I found the washing up liquid to be excellent, which did surprise me. My glassware and cutlery were positively gleaming, and I needed just a few drops to get some good suds which is a definite bonus. Smell was also lovely.

Q3. How did the products compare to your usual cleaning products? Did it work just as well, better or worse than the products you usually use?

Compared very well, probably not quite as brilliant on the whites, but I am used to putting a white powder/tab/liquid in, so perhaps I'm just used to that from them. I normally also use a fabric conditioner for towels and various other stuff and I noticed that difference, but other than that I'd say almost as well.

Washing up liquid I found to be better than my usual product.

Q4. How important are the green credentials of the Naturally Powered range to you? Would this affect your decision to buy? If so, why? If not, why not?

They are pretty important, but not a crucial credential to me. I have a rugby playing DS, 2 make up wearing partying teenage DDs and a scruffy, grubby, mud digger of a three year old DD too, so I tend to use extra help in the washes that I do.

Q5. Will you continue to buy the Tesco Naturally Powered range? If so, why? If not why not?

I will definitely buy the washing up liquid, and will consider the washing powder as well. I have used the same stuff for years and it works well for us. Also two of the DC have eczema and my favoured brand is one of very very few that doesn't aggravate their skin.

Q6. What, if any, improvements would you make to the Naturally Powered products you were testing?

Perhaps a specific one for whites and another for colours. Also, we have a lot of wool/wool and silk mix clothes, so something for them too would be good.

Q7. If it came up in conversation, would you recommend the products to a friend? If so, why? If not, why not?

Yes, I suppose so, if asked for a non bio/greener suggestion.

AKMD · 01/05/2012 22:30

I got the antibacterial spray.

Q1. What was your opinion of the Naturally Powered products before using them?
I hadn't seen/noticed them before. When I read about them on MN they sounded a bit 'woo' - I'm a bit sceptical about cleaning stuff claiming to be environmentally friendly.

Q2. After using the products, what was your over all opinion? Did the products work? Were you happy with the performance? Did you like the smell and feel of the products?
After using the spray, I have to say I wasn't impressed. The spray itself is fine - I used it to clean the table after 2yo DS had finished smearing his food everywhere and it only needed one going over with a cloth - but the bottle is awful. The nozzle was so hard to turn that I had to use a tea towel to help me shift it from 'off' to 'spray' and when I tilted the bottle to the right angle to spray the table the nozzle leaked quite badly. The spray smells nice. I had expected leaves and 'green-ness' so the labelling was surprising industrial.

Q3. How did the products compare to your usual cleaning products? Did it work just as well, better or worse than the products you usually use?
Cleaning-wise it worked just as well as the Dettol and Tesco brand apple sprays that I usually buy. Bottle-wise, I experimented with the Dettol and Tesco apple sprays, turned them to the 'on' position, turned them upside down and shook them hard but they didn't leak at all. So overall worse than my usual brands.

Q4. How important are the green credentials of the Naturally Powered range to you? Would this affect your decision to buy? If so, why? If not, why not?
I don't often consciously go out looking for green brands but if something claims to be environmentally friendly then I expect it to have appropriate certifications and credentials, with a website behind it to back it up. If it didn't have all of that then I would consciously not buy it. If it did then I would probably buy it over other brands if it was comparative in price.

Q5. Will you continue to buy the Tesco Naturally Powered range? If so, why? If not why not?
Probably not. The bottle is impractical and I wasn't convinced by the green claims. In my mind, the industrial cultivation of palm oil is one of the biggest environmental disasters on the planet and I will go out of my way to avoid using it where possible.

Q6. What, if any, improvements would you make to the Naturally Powered products you were testing?
New bottle. The bottle used in the other Tesco range of antibacterial sprays is fine so I would just use that one. Back up the eco credentials and take out the bit about palm oil - that statement really put me off and I want to know more about how it can be environmentally friendly.

Q7. If it came up in conversation, would you recommend the products to a friend? If so, why? If not, why not?
Not as they stand. Mainly because of the stiff/leaky bottle and the palm oil.

I haven't tried the washing up liquid but will get back on that one!

Jas · 01/05/2012 22:31

I have been using the washing powder.

Q1. What was your opinion of the Naturally Powered products before using them?
I was not aware they existed.

Q2. After using the products, what was your over all opinion? Did the products work? Were you happy with the performance? Did you like the smell and feel of the products?
Yes they worked well. Washing up liquid was lovely, and I really liked the smell.
Washing powder has failed (twice) to get bolognese sauce out of a white t shirt, but to be fair, my normal powder fails that test, too. (Sunlight works)
The scent of the powder is very mild, but pleasant. Overall it is as good as any other powder.

Q3. How did the products compare to your usual cleaning products? Did it work just as well, better or worse than the products you usually use?
See above.

Q4. How important are the green credentials of the Naturally Powered range to you? Would this affect your decision to buy? If so, why? If not, why not?
Not the most important thing, but if the price was comparable, I would definitely buy it again.

Q5. Will you continue to buy the Tesco Naturally Powered range? If so, why? If not why not?
Yes I will (depending on the price)

Q6. What, if any, improvements would you make to the Naturally Powered products you were testing?
It has not always dissolved properly in the drawer. This surprised me as I am using a smaller amount than my usual powder.

Q7. If it came up in conversation, would you recommend the products to a friend? If so, why? If not, why not?
Yes....because it works!

flamingtoaster · 01/05/2012 22:33

Q1. What was your opinion of the Naturally Powered products before using them? Had never noticed them but I was pleased to see more "natural" products were being produced.

Q2. After using the products, what was your over all opinion? Did the products work? Were you happy with the performance? Did you like the smell and feel of the products?
I tested the antibacterial spray. I used it in the kitchen. It cleaned well but felt "oily" in use which I didn't like - though didn't seem to leave the surface tacky. I didn't like the smell at all - and it was far, far too strong for something which isn't supposed to leave a taint, especially in a kitchen. I did love the fact you could direct a stream rather than a spray though and this did cut down the smell slightly in use, but not to a level I liked.

Q3. How did the products compare to your usual cleaning products? Did it work just as well, better or worse than the products you usually use?
Worked as well as my normal product.

Q4. How important are the green credentials of the Naturally Powered range to you? Would this affect your decision to buy? If so, why? If not, why not? I would like to use less chemicals in the house so would be tempted if the smell was less strong.

Q5. Will you continue to buy the Tesco Naturally Powered range? If so, why? If not why not? No - because of the strength of the smell.

Q6. What, if any, improvements would you make to the Naturally Powered products you were testing? Make the smell considerably less strong and lighter and fresher - to me it doesn't convey a "natural" product, and I really did not like it.

Q7. If it came up in conversation, would you recommend the products to a friend? If so, why? If not, why not? No I wouldn't recommend it because of the strength of the smell.

adoremyfamily · 01/05/2012 22:39

tested anti bac spray

Q2. After using the products, what was your over all opinion? Did the products work? Were you happy with the performance? Did you like the smell and feel of the products? Loved the smell fresh and clean smell. Did the job well.

Q3. How did the products compare to your usual cleaning products? Did it work just as well, better or worse than the products you usually use? As good as other products used.

Q4. How important are the green credentials of the Naturally Powered range to you? Would this affect your decision to buy? If so, why? If not, why not?Would not affect decision to buy, I buy based on performance.

Yes, very pleased with product
Q6. What, if any, improvements would you make to the Naturally Powered products you were testing? no improvements

Q7. If it came up in conversation, would you recommend the products to a friend? If so, why? If not, why not?Yes, pleased with product.

Nancyj · 01/05/2012 22:43

Q1. What was your opinion of the Naturally Powered products before using them?

Haven't seen them before.

Q2. After using the products, what was your over all opinion? Did the products work? Were you happy with the performance? Did you like the smell and feel of the products?

Quite strong scented.
Worked well, but then I use stain removers too.
Happy with end product.

Q3. How did the products compare to your usual cleaning products? Did it work just as well, better or worse than the products you usually use?

Worked just as well, but more fiddly as I usually use liquid.

Q4. How important are the green credentials of the Naturally Powered range to you? Would this affect your decision to buy? If so, why? If not, why not?

I'm not sure it can be that natural going by how strongly scented it was.

Q5. Will you continue to buy the Tesco Naturally Powered range? If so, why? If not why not?

No, will return to own brand liquid

Q6. What, if any, improvements would you make to the Naturally Powered products you were testing?

A measuring pot that you can see through easily, lines on outside were not easyily visible, so I had to guess if I had got the correct amount.

Q7. If it came up in conversation, would you recommend the products to a friend? If so, why? If not, why not?

No, too scented.

Hope I'm still in the draw despite saying I wouldn't use it again!

BlueyDragon · 01/05/2012 22:51

Thank you for the test product.

Q1. What was your opinion of the Naturally Powered products before using them?

Hadn't heard of them

Q2. After using the products, what was your over all opinion? Did the products work? Were you happy with the performance? Did you like the smell and feel of the products?

I tested the spray. Worked as well as my usual non-Eco brand, although I can't say for sure about the anti-bac properties. The smell is quite strong but not unpleasant. No overall negatives about the product or the packaging.

Q3. How did the products compare to your usual cleaning products? Did it work just as well, better or worse than the products you usually use?

As well as the usual product.

Q4. How important are the green credentials of the Naturally Powered range to you? Would this affect your decision to buy? If so, why? If not, why not?

If the price and performance were comparable, I would buy green products out of preference. Generally I've found that the performance isn't comparable.

Q5. Will you continue to buy the Tesco Naturally Powered range? If so, why? If not why not?

I don't have a convenient Tesco. If the price was right I would consider it if there were a convenient Tesco.

Q6. What, if any, improvements would you make to the Naturally Powered products you were testing?

None.

Q7. If it came up in conversation, would you recommend the products to a friend? If so, why? If not, why not?

I would mention it, but it's not the sort of thing I would recommend because that's not the kind of conversation I have with my friends! I would offer it as an Eco product that worked, if asked.

StateofConfusion · 01/05/2012 22:53

ive still not received mine!!!

timetosmile · 01/05/2012 22:58

marking spot....the surface cleaner cleaned but I have a stonking cold so will reserve judgement until I can smell the stuff...

Aero · 01/05/2012 23:10

Q1. What was your opinion of the Naturally Powered products before using them? Hadn't seen or noticed them before.

Q2. After using the products, what was your over all opinion? Did the products work? Were you happy with the performance? Did you like the smell and feel of the products? Yes, works well, smells pleasant. Bottle a bit 'drippy' though - product came out of the nozzle just be lifting the bottle itself and squeezing it slightly, so it ended up on my fingers.

Q3. How did the products compare to your usual cleaning products? Did it work just as well, better or worse than the products you usually use? It's works justas well as the one I normally use.

Q4. How important are the green credentials of the Naturally Powered range to you? Would this affect your decision to buy? If so, why? If not, why not? NOt overly important as we are mainly driven by cost at the moment. That is what would affect my decision to buy most.

Q5. Will you continue to buy the Tesco Naturally Powered range? If so, why? If not why not? Yes, but only if on offer or cheaper than similar products.

Q6. What, if any, improvements would you make to the Naturally Powered products you were testing? I would make the nozzle better functioning. It had leaked into the bag in came in before I'd even opened it.

Q7. If it came up in conversation, would you recommend the products to a friend? If so, why? If not, why not? Maybe, if the nozzle were better. It does smell nice and works well. I'd mention it if I knew someone was environmentally interested and looking for a good product.

wantmydaughterback · 02/05/2012 01:24

Q1. What was your opinion of the Naturally Powered products before using them?

I was not aware of them before, so had no opinion.

Q2. After using the products, what was your over all opinion? Did the products work? Were you happy with the performance? Did you like the smell and feel of the products?

I am using the multisurface spray. I like it. The spray seems to work well generally, although not so good at removing tea stains (but I have found this with ALL cleaning sprays I have used). I love the clean fresh smell and the packaging is good and easy to use.

Q3. How did the products compare to your usual cleaning products? Did it work just as well, better or worse than the products you usually use?

It worked just as well, but with a fresher smell, so psychologically one could think it was working better too.

Q4. How important are the green credentials of the Naturally Powered range to you? Would this affect your decision to buy? If so, why? If not, why not?

I always try to buy green products when I can, but they tend to be too expensive. So the green credentials are of great interest to me. If these products were the same price as a non-green cleaning product, then I would DEFINITELY buy these all the time.

Q5. Will you continue to buy the Tesco Naturally Powered range? If so, why? If not why not?

If I find them to be on special offer or at the same price as other products, then yes, I would definitely buy the Naturally Powered range.

Q6. What, if any, improvements would you make to the Naturally Powered products you were testing?

I would ensure that the bottle could be recycled and collected by the councils waste collection services.

Q7. If it came up in conversation, would you recommend the products to a friend? If so, why? If not, why not?

Yes, I would as the spray is eco-friendly, does the job well and smells clean and fresh, plus claims to have anti-bacterial action too.

Jins · 02/05/2012 09:24

I tested the washing powder

Q1. What was your opinion of the Naturally Powered products before using them?
I hadn't really noticed them before the test.

Q2. After using the products, what was your over all opinion? Did the products work? Were you happy with the performance? Did you like the smell and feel of the products?
I liked the smell of the products and dosing was easy. I wasn't very impressed with performance at low temperature but weirdly some stains came out easily leaving others almost untouched. I didn't feel the product performed particularly well on muddy sports kit. I found small quantities of undissolved powder in the drawer but there was no residue on clothes which felt softer than normal. At higher temperatures the product was slightly more effective.

Q3. How did the products compare to your usual cleaning products? Did it work just as well, better or worse than the products you usually use?
It was worse than my normal product in cleaning but clothes felt softer. However I'm looking for cleaning power in a laundry product so I have to say that overall it was worse

Q4. How important are the green credentials of the Naturally Powered range to you? Would this affect your decision to buy? If so, why? If not, why not?
I have been wanting to make the switch to greener products for a while but have been put off by price and reports of poor performance. I would definitely buy a green product over normal if performance wasn't compromised.

Q5. Will you continue to buy the Tesco Naturally Powered range? If so, why? If not why not?
I won't buy the laundry powder again as it didn't perform to the standard I expect. I was impressed with the washing up liquid and would probably buy that

Q6. What, if any, improvements would you make to the Naturally Powered products you were testing?
Powder solubility needs serious work. Overall performance of the product could be improved.

Q7. If it came up in conversation, would you recommend the products to a friend? If so, why? If not, why not?
No I wouldn't recommend the products because the performance wasn't up to scratch.

On the strength of some comments about the antibac spray I bought some on my last shopping trip. I'm not a great fan of lemony smells but this wasn't bad and the product performed far better than I expected There were no streaks or residue left on surfaces - even stainless steel. I was very impressed with the product but the spray bottle was one of the worst I've ever used. I found that a very slight squeeze to the bottle itself resulted in leakage and the product dripped over my hand in normal use. I would definitely consider buying the antibac spray again if the bottle was significantly improved.

Tw1nkle · 02/05/2012 09:33

Q1. What was your opinion of the Naturally Powered products before using them?

Never heard of them, but probably wouldn't try them, as i wouldn't have thought they would be very good!

Q2. After using the products, what was your over all opinion? Did the products work? Were you happy with the performance? Did you like the smell and feel of the products?

The spray worked great! I loved the choice of 'stream' or 'spray' too - brilliant idea, never seen it before!!!
The performance was great, the surfaces were clean, and the smell was awesome!!!!

I didn't like the sachet of washing up liquid at all.

Q3. How did the products compare to your usual cleaning products? Did it work just as well, better or worse than the products you usually use?

Just as well, but better smell!

I didn't like the sachet of washing up liquid at all!

Q4. How important are the green credentials of the Naturally Powered range to you? Would this affect your decision to buy? If so, why? If not, why not?

They are important to me, and now i know they work as well - even better!
I wouldn't buy the washing upliquid though!

Q5. Will you continue to buy the Tesco Naturally Powered range? If so, why? If not why not?

Yes - as long as the price is competitive.

Q6. What, if any, improvements would you make to the Naturally Powered products you were testing?

Nothing - the spray was great!

Q7. If it came up in conversation, would you recommend the products to a friend? If so, why? If not, why not?

Definately. Now I've tried it, and I know it works.

mumofkyle · 02/05/2012 09:45

Q1. What was your opinion of the Naturally Powered products before using them?
Never heard of them

Q2. After using the products, what was your over all opinion? Did the products work? Were you happy with the performance? Did you like the smell and feel of the products?
The powder has a nice smell and I was pleased with how soft the towels were but I have used the powder 3 times, the first time using a full cup as I have very hard water and 2/3 of the powder was left in my dispenser drawer. So I reduced it the next wash but still had over half left in the drawer. I wonder if I'm using too much?

Q3. How did the products compare to your usual cleaning products? Did it work just as well, better or worse than the products you usually use?
Just as well as my usual; but I use liquid tablets so much less messy than the powder - and made more work as I had to clean the drawer out!

Q4. How important are the green credentials of the Naturally Powered range to you? Would this affect your decision to buy? If so, why? If not, why not?
Not important to me; I am one of these people who thinks it all overated I'm afraid!

Q5. Will you continue to buy the Tesco Naturally Powered range? If so, why? If not why not?
Not unless it came in liquid tablet form - i'm too lazy to wash the drawer each wash.

Q6. What, if any, improvements would you make to the Naturally Powered products you were testing?
The washing up liquid was terrible, no bubbles just coloured the water, so definitely needs improving

Q7. If it came up in conversation, would you recommend the products to a friend? If so, why? If not, why not?
For the smell and how soft the towels were - probably.

ladytyndale · 02/05/2012 09:45

I hadn't really noticed the naturally powered range before this trial, but I'm usually a little sceptical about the effectiveness of "green" products.
After using I wasn't impressed with the wahing powder. Quite a bit of powder is left in the dispenser drawer of my washing machine, and its not as good at getting things clean - I've had to rewash a few of my sons clothes. I'm going to try again with a higher dose as we are in a hard water area, but I'm not optimistic. I also don't like the measuring coffee style cup, I think its gimmicky and would be more eco friendly to have something more durable.
Green credentials are a consideration to me, but not the main one. If I have to rewash things its not eco friendly so defeats the object anyway.
I won't continue to buy this range, as it doesn't do the job as well as my usual powder.
Improvements - well I'd make it more effective, and change the measuring cup. I wouldn't recomend these products to anyone, I'd have to say the eco friendly thing to do would be to use a better powder and only have to wash things once, saving powder, energy, water, money and time.

ZanyLainy · 02/05/2012 09:50

Hi I'm testing the washing powder and love it.

Q1. What was your opinion of the Naturally Powered products before using them?

A bit mixed as I have tried several 'eco' washing powders before and some of them did not clean well.

Q2. After using the products, what was your over all opinion? Did the products work? Were you happy with the performance? Did you like the smell and feel of the products?

The powder cleaned as well as my usual 'eco' brand but I prefer the smell. It left my washing with a lovely fresh-air smell that reminds me of washing that has been line dried on a beautiful spring day.

Q3. How did the products compare to your usual cleaning products? Did it work just as well, better or worse than the products you usually use?

This powder gets the same cleaning results as my usual 'eco' brand. I used it to wash my dogs bedding - the ultimate test in our house - and it cleaned well AND got rid of the damp-dog smell brilliantly. Sometimes I have to wash our dogs bedding twice (how 'eco' is that?) to get rid of the smell. This powder left my dogs bedding smelling as fresh as a daisy.

Another test in my house is how my DD's delicate skin reacts to it so I washed her school uniform with it at the weekend and when I checked last night (2 days later) she has no outbreaks of eczema or itchyness. Result!

Q4. How important are the green credentials of the Naturally Powered range to you? Would this affect your decision to buy? If so, why? If not, why not?

The 'eco' cred is very important to me. I already buy 'eco' cleaning products.

Q5. Will you continue to buy the Tesco Naturally Powered range? If so, why? If not why not?

Yes, if the pricing is at least comparative. Cost is still a factor for me and I am sometime conflicted by the cost of 'eco' products.

Q6. What, if any, improvements would you make to the Naturally Powered products you were testing?

None. I like the packaging, the paper cup and the way it performs.

Q7. If it came up in conversation, would you recommend the products to a friend? If so, why? If not, why not?

I would recommend this washing powder because it works, smells good and is delicate skin friendly.

SoTiredoftheWheelsontheBus · 02/05/2012 09:54

My washing powder has arrived and I've just used it on a wash (7 kg wash at 40°, not especially dirty). Packaging looked nice but I don't remember much information about the product on the box (was before the schoolrun so may have been distracted). Small paper cup ok for measuring, but I don't think it would last very well in a large box. I live in a hard water area, so had to double-up on the amount of powder used. Washing came out clean, with a subtle scent (can't work out if that was the powder or fabric conditioner). I'd be interested to see how it copes with dirtier clothes (will wait for my baby to oblige with an explosive nappy and post back). The green credentials are a bonus, but I wouldn't pay extra for them. So far, the powder has been fine, but I'll use it more before deciding whether or would continue to buy or recommend it.

NotaDisneyMum · 02/05/2012 10:01

I have been using the anti-bacterial spray.

Q1. What was your opinion of the Naturally Powered products before using them?

I wasn't aware of the products.

Q2. After using the products, what was your over all opinion? Did the products work? Were you happy with the performance? Did you like the smell and feel of the products?

It's hard to tell if the product "works" in terms of killing germs, I have to assume it does (!) but it smelt good and my DP said the kitchen smelt clean after I had used it. It sprayed and wiped well.

Q3. How did the products compare to your usual cleaning products? Did it work just as well, better or worse than the products you usually use?

It seemed to be slightly more viscous than my usual brand, so took slightly longer to dry completely after wiping.

Q4. How important are the green credentials of the Naturally Powered range to you? Would this affect your decision to buy? If so, why? If not, why not?

Environmental impact is very important to me, and it would definitely be a factor in my product selection.

Q5. Will you continue to buy the Tesco Naturally Powered range? If so, why? If not why not?

If it is comparably priced to my normal brand, then yes, I would - I'd want to know a bit more about it's environmental impact first, though.

Q6. What, if any, improvements would you make to the Naturally Powered products you were testing?

The bottle leaked!

Q7. If it came up in conversation, would you recommend the products to a friend? If so, why? If not, why not?

Yes, probably.

Gauchita · 02/05/2012 10:06

We tested the washing powder.

Questions:

Q1. What was your opinion of the Naturally Powered products before using them?

I hadn't heard of them before.

Q2. After using the products, what was your over all opinion? Did the products work? Were you happy with the performance? Did you like the smell and feel of the products?

Smell was nice, clothes looked clean afterwards and smelled nice as well. What I didn't like, though, was that I noticed half of the powder remained in the washing machine drawer. I tried it 4 times since we got it and every time the same has happened. Before you ask, yes, I'm using the amount indicated by the box Grin This hadn't happened before with other products.

Q3. How did the products compare to your usual cleaning products? Did it work just as well, better or worse than the products you usually use?

Just as well in my case, with the exception of what was mentioned above.

Q4. How important are the green credentials of the Naturally Powered range to you? Would this affect your decision to buy? If so, why? If not, why not?

Green credentials would be important/good; however, its price would be as well. I don't know how much this product is, but I wouldn't pay a huge amount of money for this amount of washing powder just because it's "green".

Q5. Will you continue to buy the Tesco Naturally Powered range? If so, why? If not why not?

I'm not sure, because of the "leftover" problem I had. I'll continue using it and see if it stops happening? Otherwise it's not too efficient in my case.

Q6. What, if any, improvements would you make to the Naturally Powered products you were testing?

As someone mentioned before, maybe tablets would be nice, to avoid the measuring part of the process Grin The waste should be sorted, though.

Q7. If it came up in conversation, would you recommend the products to a friend? If so, why? If not, why not?

I'm not sure due to the waste (leftovers in drawer) and therefore reduced efficiency.

Thanks again for letting us try these.

Q1. What was your opinion of the Naturally Powered products before using them?
I hadn't heard of the brand before but had naturally been sceptical about the ability of an eco-firendly product to clean properly. However, in principal I try to be as eco-friendly as possible.

Q2. After using the products, what was your over all opinion? Did the products work? Were you happy with the performance? Did you like the smell and feel of the products?

I received the washing up liquid and the anti-bacterial spray.
I was impressed with both. I was surprised that they were both quite strong smelling but in some way that seemed reassuring, and dispelled my concerns that they might be weak alternatives. The spray bottle looked fine and performed in the same way as the Dettol bottle.

Q3. How did the products compare to your usual cleaning products? Did it work just as well, better or worse than the products you usually use?

The naturally powered products worked just as well. As I mentioned above, I was surprised that they were both quite strong smelling but in some way that seemed reassuring, and dispelled my concerns that they might be weak alternatives.

Q4. How important are the green credentials of the Naturally Powered range to you? Would this affect your decision to buy? If so, why? If not, why not?

As I have mentioned, my heart would be pro green products but my head has always doubted their efficacy but this trial has proved that my initial concerns were unfounded.

Q5. Will you continue to buy the Tesco Naturally Powered range? If so, why? If not why not?
Yes, I would but it would depend on price too. I do not know the price and have been shopping in ALDI / LIDL recently as a cost cutting measure.

Q6. What, if any, improvements would you make to the Naturally Powered products you were testing?
None.

Q7. If it came up in conversation, would you recommend the products to a friend? If so, why? If not, why not?
Yes I would, again depending on price.

Testing the anti-bac spray....

Q1. What was your opinion of the Naturally Powered products before using them?
Hadn't heard of or seen them before in Tescos. Opinion when I heard about it on MN sounded good. Always interested to try an eco product as would be tempted to switch if it was as good (effectiveness and price) as my usual cleaning products.

Q2. After using the products, what was your over all opinion? Did the products work? Were you happy with the performance? Did you like the smell and feel of the products?
Over all opinion.....not that impressed. Product worked OK - no better or worse than my usual ones. Spray pumped out a lot of product though so probably would get through it quicker than my usual. Smell Ok - but based on chemical/lab-based fragrance in many non-eco products. bottle flimsy and cheap looking - and leaked when you squeezed it. Overall opinion swayed mostly by my irritation about the claims of the 'greeness' of the product (see blow)

Q3. How did the products compare to your usual cleaning products? Did it work just as well, better or worse than the products you usually use?
OK - no better or worse. Would not change from my usual.

Q4. How important are the green credentials of the Naturally Powered range to you? Would this affect your decision to buy? If so, why? If not, why not?
Effectiveness and price are generally more important to me than eco credentials - but I am interested in being more eco friendly. And would switch for a good product.

I felt this product made very woolly, fluffy claims designed to pull the wool over consumer's eyes. Only some of the products in the spray were 'plant derived' - others where just normal chemicals. What does 'plant-derived' mean anyway? It could be just that the molecule/chemical is something found in a plant, but that the process to bulk produce the same molecule/chemical is lab based. Being plant-derived doesn't really mean it'll be less harsh on your hands either - nor does it mean than it'll be biodegradable. It doesn't mention about sustainability (except for the palm oil).

I'm not an 'eco warrior', but I dislike advertising that is disingenuous. I wouldn't buy this product.

Q5. Will you continue to buy the Tesco Naturally Powered range? If so, why? If not why not?
No, for all the reasons above.

Q6. What, if any, improvements would you make to the Naturally Powered products you were testing?
Tescos should be upfront and accurate about its eco claims. If its more eco-friendly than my cynical mind is thinking than it should make that clear.

Q7. If it came up in conversation, would you recommend the products to a friend? If so, why? If not, why not?
No, I would get my soap box out and rant for a while about the fluffiness of its eco-claims!

Q1. What was your opinion of the Naturally Powered products before using them?
I hadn't really seen them before, I had used their eco washing up liquid that was v. cheap but it didn't work out well

Q2. After using the products, what was your over all opinion? Did the products work? Were you happy with the performance? Did you like the smell and feel of the products?
The spray I have works fine, I find the scent quite strong, good spray mechanism.

Q3. How did the products compare to your usual cleaning products? Did it work just as well, better or worse than the products you usually use?
Worked just as well

Q4. How important are the green credentials of the Naturally Powered range to you? Would this affect your decision to buy? If so, why? If not, why not?

I try and buy 'green' cleaning products, I think they must be full of toxic stuff if they destroy bacteria to such an extent so buying green I hope helps.

Q5. Will you continue to buy the Tesco Naturally Powered range? If so, why? If not why not?
I would, I had actually bought the spray in the shop I did a couple of days before yours arrived, I hadn't realised, it is just a product that appealed and was at a reasonable price.

Q6. What, if any, improvements would you make to the Naturally Powered products you were testing?

It is fumier and smellier than I would like.

Q7. If it came up in conversation, would you recommend the products to a friend? If so, why? If not, why not?
I would as it works, is green and some like strong smells.

First of all thank you for the opportunity to test, as a clean freak this was right up my street. I have tried most trigger sprays on the market.

I have been testing the antibacterial spray. Honestly I wasn?t expecting much, I think Ecover products are rubbish so I was expecting much of the same from this test.

I was pleased with the smell. Dettol, which has superb cleaning power, has a headache inducing odour that gets right i the back of your throat. Naturally Powered was far more subtle. I wouldn?t go so far as to say it smelled nice but it is certainly better than it?s competitors.

I tend to do a whole house intensive clean once a week. I am afraid I went back to my usual product for this as I just felt happier that it gave a more thorough clean and cut through grease better. For surface wipes and day to day keeping on top of things though I think Naturally Powered is ideal.

I particularly liked the spray or stream feature. I say this as someone who has definitely more than once caught a small person full face with a spray of cleaner when they are hovering. Blush It?s also much less wasteful.

Green credentials are important to me and provided I am not paying a huge premium they do influence my decision to purchase. I was pleased to see that they support sustainable palm oil.

Tesco is not my nearest supermarket so I am afraid I am unlikely to continue buying. If they got their act together re deliveries (just don?t get me started) then I might shop online with them.

I would recommend the antibac spray for the reasons given here and have in fact already done so.

Testing the spray.

Q1. What was your opinion of the Naturally Powered products before using them?

didn't have one as I'd never heard of them

Q2. After using the products, what was your over all opinion? Did the products work? Were you happy with the performance? Did you like the smell and feel of the products?

worked quite well. Things seemed clean. It smelled nice. Didn't feel it, sorry. Grin

Q3. How did the products compare to your usual cleaning products? Did it work just as well, better or worse than the products you usually use?

Seemed to work just as well.

Q4. How important are the green credentials of the Naturally Powered range to you? Would this affect your decision to buy? If so, why? If not, why not?

Not really important at all to me. The only thing that really affects my decision to buy is price and 'green' products tend to cost a lot more.

Q5. Will you continue to buy the Tesco Naturally Powered range? If so, why? If not why not?

If it's cheaper than just regular spray, maybe

Q6. What, if any, improvements would you make to the Naturally Powered products you were testing?

The bottle was a bit leaky. I was really glad it had been wrapped in a plastic bag or the box would have been damaged from it.

Q7. If it came up in conversation, would you recommend the products to a friend? If so, why? If not, why not?

Well, I don't talk about cleaning products with my friends but I would probably mention I had tried it if someone else brought it up. It's really no different than any other cleaner so no real recommendation or non-recommendation from me.

I tested the washing powder

Q1. What was your opinion of the Naturally Powered products before using them?

I hadn't heard of them.

Q2. After using the products, what was your over all opinion? Did the products work? Were you happy with the performance? Did you like the smell and feel of the products?

Persnally for me I had trouble with the "fragrance" of the powder. I have an extremelly sensitive nose and it was streaming by the time I opened the box! I was reluctant to use it but gave it a go anyway. The clothes and towels I washed didn't retain too much of a smell - which for me was a bonus! The clothes were as clean as my normal powder gets them but white school socks still retained mud marks.

Q3. How did the products compare to your usual cleaning products? Did it work just as well, better or worse than the products you usually use?

The powder seemed to work as well as my normal powder (Surcare).

Q4. How important are the green credentials of the Naturally Powered range to you? Would this affect your decision to buy? If so, why? If not, why not?

I try to use products that are "greener" and it's always nice to see companies trying to create more "natural" products.

Q5. Will you continue to buy the Tesco Naturally Powered range? If so, why? If not why not?

I wouldn't but that's down to the fragrance not the performance. If it became Fragrance Free then I'd certainly try it again.

Q6. What, if any, improvements would you make to the Naturally Powered products you were testing?

Confusing info re how much to use. Box said 30g = 1 cup. But cup was marked as 30g being half way up!

Q7. If it came up in conversation, would you recommend the products to a friend? If so, why? If not, why not?

I would recommend they try it.
