NOW CLOSED: Tesco’s Naturally Powered (antibacterial spray or non-bio washing powder) product testers review thread

AnnMumsnet · 01/05/2012 14:54

This thread is for the 1000 Mumsnetters who are trying out the Naturally Powered range of cleaning products by Tesco.

If you don't know about these products, here's what Tesco has to say:

"In the past, green cleaning products have been let down by their performance. Working closely with a team of chemists, scientists and environmental experts, we have created the Naturally Powered range of eco cleaning products - specially formulated to have a reduced impact on the environment than other leading products and with the cleaning performance you'd expect."

Mumsnetters have been testing either the antibacterial spray or the non-bio washing powder. In addition, all testers received a trial-sized sachet of washing up liquid.

If you are a tester, please state which product you were testing and answer the questions below - feel free to also add any other comments you may have.

Everyone who adds their comments to this thread will be entered into a prize draw, where one person will win £200 of Tesco vouchers.

tested the washing powder

Q1. What was your opinion of the Naturally Powered products before using them?
Liked the packaging but really wanted more information about why it is so natural.
Q2. After using the products, what was your over all opinion? Did the products work? Were you happy with the performance? Did you like the smell and feel of the products?
the smell is good and the wash has been as good if not better than my current powder

Q3. How did the products compare to your usual cleaning products? Did it work just as well, better or worse than the products you usually use?
powder worked as well if not better

Q4. How important are the green credentials of the Naturally Powered range to you? Would this affect your decision to buy? If so, why? If not, why not?
not fussed about green but was interested in the natural bit but am still in the dark as to what makes it so natural and haven't had the chance to read the website yet
Q5. Will you continue to buy the Tesco Naturally Powered range? If so, why? If not why not?
not regually as I don't shop in Tesco's but if I'm in-store and need powder and crucially the price is right then yes i would buy.
Q6. What, if any, improvements would you make to the Naturally Powered products you were testing? non

Q7. If it came up in conversation, would you recommend the products to a friend? If so, why? If not, why not? probably

SearchSquad · 04/05/2012 23:37

Thank you for the free sample. I tested the anti bacterial spray. Haven't used the washing up liquid yet.

Q1. What was your opinion of the Naturally Powered products before using them?

I am generally of the opinion that naturally powered products are not as powerful as the regular ones

Q2. After using the products, what was your over all opinion? Did the products work? Were you happy with the performance? Did you like the smell and feel of the products?

The product worked quite well. I tested it on kitchen surfaces and it cleaned very well. The smell is quite distinct and I personally found it pleasant.

Q3. How did the products compare to your usual cleaning products? Did it work just as well, better or worse than the products you usually use?

I am pleased to report that it worked as well as my expensive anti bacterial spray.

Q4. How important are the green credentials of the Naturally Powered range to you? Would this affect your decision to buy? If so, why? If not, why not?

While there is a feel good factor because of the green credentials, I would use any eco product only if it performed as well as the regular product.

Q5. Will you continue to buy the Tesco Naturally Powered range? If so, why? If not why not?

Yes, I think I will buy this spray again.

Q6. What, if any, improvements would you make to the Naturally Powered products you were testing?

I would be interested in a product that will not leave any harsh chemical residue behind. There is no information regarding chemical residue on the Tesco Naturally Powered spray bottle. Will be great if this feature is incorporated in the Tesco spray.

Q7. If it came up in conversation, would you recommend the products to a friend? If so, why? If not, why not?

I may, only if I think that the friend is keen on eco friendly ideas and products.

Q1. What was your opinion of the Naturally Powered products before using them?

I'd never seen them before but I do most of my shopping online.

Q2. After using the products, what was your over all opinion? Did the products work? Were you happy with the performance? Did you like the smell and feel of the products?

Not really. I used the washing powder in a coloured wash at 40 for a soiled load and there were still stains after on the sleeves of my toddlers tshirts. I liked the fact that it wasn't over perfumed and that the packaging was cardboard. Perhaps try and make the packaging slightly more robust do you don't need the plastic bag as well.

Q3. How did the products compare to your usual cleaning products? Did it work just as well, better or worse than the products you usually use?

I used to use Eco washing brands but since having children I have moved across to regular brands (whatever is on offer) as they weren't getting the stains out. This powder didn't work as well my normal liquid.

Q4. How important are the green credentials of the Naturally Powered range to you? Would this affect your decision to buy? If so, why? If not, why not?
If they are effective then yes I would buy as I would prefer to buy an Eco brand.

Q5. Will you continue to buy the Tesco Naturally Powered range? If so, why? If not why not?

No, not effective enough on stains and powder residue in the drawer.

Q6. What, if any, improvements would you make to the Naturally Powered products you were testing?

Better stain removal, packaging and rinsing from the drawer

Q7. If it came up in conversation, would you recommend the products to a friend? If so, why? If not, why not?
Probably not buy i will try the other products on the range.
Thanks and good luck with the prize draw!

Questions:

Q1. What was your opinion of the Naturally Powered products before using them?
No opinion, never heard of them

Q2. After using the products, what was your over all opinion? Did the products work? Were you happy with the performance? Did you like the smell and feel of the products?
They worked - laundry was clean and relatively soft- or as much as my normal brand. Smell was fine, didn't find it overpowering and faded relatively quickly on airing anyway
Q3. How did the products compare to your usual cleaning products? Did it work just as well, better or worse than the products you usually use?
Just as well, will need to check on some particularly hard stains, but I actually followed the instruction with this powder, as opposed to normally when I use less than recommended.
Just checked stains- failed to get tomato based stain out at 40, so no better than usual product I use.

Q4. How important are the green credentials of the Naturally Powered range to you? Would this affect your decision to buy? If so, why? If not, why not?
Green credentials relatively important, though depends what you mean by green- I usually think of them as being related to impact on environment. I am unsure as to the green credentials of this powder, the only thing stated is the source of the palm oil, nothing about effect on environment etc which I am more concerned about. Only other green credential stated is plant based cleaning sources. As most things we use (including medical drugs, chemotherapeutic agents etc) come from plants so what! As far as I can see this is just a normal washing powder.

Q5. Will you continue to buy the Tesco Naturally Powered range? If so, why? If not why not?
No, I don't think that they are any "greener" than any other product- just think it is clever marketing. In fact are they green at all? So I am happy with my current washing powder and will stick with that

Q6. What, if any, improvements would you make to the Naturally Powered products you were testing?
Clearer instructions for measuring cup- on back it says 1 cup=30ml, but actually only 1/2 a cup.

Q7. If it came up in conversation, would you recommend the products to a friend? If so, why? If not, why not?
Depends on price- they work, so if cheap why not.

sadamantos · 05/05/2012 10:29

And like previous poster- also found powder residue in drawer, so improvements here- better solubility would be good.

HouseOfBamboo · 05/05/2012 10:34

Q1. What was your opinion of the Naturally Powered products before using them?

Hadn't heard of them, so no opinion.

Q2. After using the products, what was your over all opinion? Did the products work? Were you happy with the performance? Did you like the smell and feel of the products?

Spray cleaner: This worked okay, I used it for light cleaning on kitchen surfaces, and had a go with it on a rather grubby vinyl kitchen floor. It was fine for light cleaning, it didn't 'deep clean' the floor but got rid of surface grime. I wasn't keen on the smell, the lemon smell was boring, a bit too strong, and (ironically) artificial.

The nozzle also dripped heavily when the bottle was tipped.

WUL: This gave lots of bubbles which was good, but again I wasn't keen on the smell, a bit artificial and overpowering, and it lingered on the dishes. It cleaned the dishes well enough, though I didn't try it on anything really greasy and grimy

Q3. How did the products compare to your usual cleaning products? Did it work just as well, better or worse than the products you usually use?

Spray cleaner: I'm using Method spray cleaner at the moment which smells wonderful (which is the main reason I use it), it's also kind to skin and works well enough, and the bottle looks nice in the bathroom. Performance of the Tesco one was probably comparable, it just wasn't as nice to use.

WUL: I usually use Fairy (the non-moisturising version, usually original flavour) - I would say the bubbles and cleaning were comparably good as you didn't need to use much of the Tesco one, just not keen on the smell.

Q4. How important are the green credentials of the Naturally Powered range to you? Would this affect your decision to buy? If so, why? If not, why not?

Yes it would, I like the thought that you can put things down the drain without causing too much damage. I wasn't convinced by the product information, there wasn't anything to say what the impact was of putting it down the drain, or really why it was any different from other liquids. And 'independently performance tested' seems a meaningless phrase.

The scents seem strong and artificial, and don't enhance the 'natural' image the product seems to be trying to project.

As far as I can see the only 'eco' thing about the products is that they are more concentrated so cheaper/more efficient to transport and sell.

Q5. Will you continue to buy the Tesco Naturally Powered range? If so, why? If not why not?

I don't think so. I'd probably choose it over things like Cillit Bang or Flash though, as they are even more strong and 'artificial' seeming.

Q6. What, if any, improvements would you make to the Naturally Powered products you were testing?

Better, more subtle smells. Emphasise kind to skin (if they are?) and really try and explain why they are less 'tainting' than other products. More info on impact on environment.

Q7. If it came up in conversation, would you recommend the products to a friend? If so, why? If not, why not?

No - not a clear enough 'selling point', also not keen the smell.

melliebobs · 05/05/2012 11:40

Q1. Packaging was plain and it wasn't really clear that it was a Tesco product. As a family we are used to using non bio liquid as apposed to powder but were willing to give it a try. DH was dubious as to how eco friendly it was because for such a small box it felt really heavy and that must take alot of fuel to ship! It was good that it came with a measuring cup too as i don't have a clue how much 30g is by eye

Q2. Clothes were clean so that was a bonus. We are using washable nappies and it got them clean. However, the most annoying part was that no matter how much powder i used there was always a sizable lump of it still left in the sodding draw. VERY annoying.

Q3. It worked just as well as what we normally use. DH and DD have sensitive skin so it's not irratated them. But as stated above there was always a clog of powder left in the draw.

Q4. The fact that it is 'green' wouldn't really affect my decision to buy. It really would depend how much it cost against the other non bio products at that particular shop at that time. However there are few non bio products its good to have one more to chose from.

Q5. Probably not as we don't do a 'big shop' at Tesco, only tend to go their for bits during the week IF we are passing. Also washing products always seem to be so much cheaper at Wilkinsons

Q6. Id make the powder liquid form.

Q7. Well it did the job so i'd say that. But most people tend to use liquid or liqui tabs so if that was in their range too possibly. But in this day alot of it does depend on price.

steffibabes · 05/05/2012 12:57

I used the spray

  1. What was your opinion of the Naturally Powered products before using them? I had never heard of them but I have used Ecover in the past so if I had seen them on the shelf I might have been interested.

Q2. After using the products, what was your over all opinion? Did the products work? Were you happy with the performance? Did you like the smell and feel of the products? I think the product does what it says it does, my surfaces appeared clean. It smelt nice, a little strong but I wonder if that is because I am not yet used to it.

Q3. How did the products compare to your usual cleaning products? Did it work just as well, better or worse than the products you usually use? I had been using dettol and it seems to be as good.

Q4. How important are the green credentials of the Naturally Powered range to you? Would this affect your decision to buy? If so, why? If not, why not? I think that being green is good, I recycle as much as I can and compost and try to lead an eco lifestyle. I used to buy Ecover but it was getting too expensive and it is all about balance. I think if it was a reasonable price then I would buy it. Price would still be the first deciding factor.

Q5. Will you continue to buy the Tesco Naturally Powered range? If so, why? If not why not? I would buy it if the price was OK. If it was expensive then no.

Q6. What, if any, improvements would you make to the Naturally Powered products you were testing? I think it is interesting that it does not say 'Tesco Naturally Powered' on the bottle. I wonder if that is to make it appear less 'Tescoey'. It is not a bad product, I cannot think of any improvements.

Q7. If it came up in conversation, would you recommend the products to a friend? If so, why? If not, why not? I might do but it is unlikely I would be having a conversation about anti bac spray.

heliumballoon · 05/05/2012 13:19

I tested the spray. I hadn't heard of it before as I don't normally shop in Tesco or associated Tesco with green credentials- normally the opposite TBH.
My overall view was that it worked fine. The lemon smell was superficially quite nice but still very strong afterwards so I wouldn't want DD eating off a surface cleaned with it. The packaging was flimsy (leaked) but looked ok to me. Green credentials are important to me and I usually use Ecover as a general spray but Dettol spray on bins, nappy mat etc. I prefer those as they smell less. I also did not understand how the spray was Eco friendly, it was very hard to tell what was actually different about it compared with normal sprays. Ecover is more convincing as a brand without just fobbing me off to a website. I wouldn't change brands for that reason, nor do I have discussions with friends about sprays! I will however definitely use the bottle up but probably not on tables, highchairs etc. Maybe more on bins or spillages.

celebmum · 05/05/2012 14:53

Q1. What was your opinion of the Naturally Powered products before using them? -Dont paticularly have an opinion, not heard much about them.

Q2. After using the products, what was your over all opinion? Did the products work? Were you happy with the performance? Did you like the smell and feel of the products? -washed well, smelt nice in the box but didnt really leave a 'clean smell' once washed.

Q3. How did the products compare to your usual cleaning products? Did it work just as well, better or worse than the products you usually use? - dont usually buy loose powder, mainly stick t liquid or tabs (easier for DH! Gin) worked pretty much just aswell. prefer the aftersmell of my usual products tho.

Q4. How important are the green credentials of the Naturally Powered range to you? Would this affect your decision to buy? If so, why? If not, why not? - its a nice to have really in my opinion, if the price was competitive then id moe than likely pick the eco product over the other product.

Q5. Will you continue to buy the Tesco Naturally Powered range? If so, why? If not why not? -probably not, but i dont usually shop at tesco.

Q6. What, if any, improvements would you make to the Naturally Powered products you were testing? the packaging was a bit plain/economy looking but i dont suppose this affects the product. other than that nothing. it does as it says on the box.

Q7. If it came up in conversation, would you recommend the products to a friend? If so, why? If not, why not?
possibly, in a ive tried these and they were acceptable kind of way.

ouryve · 05/05/2012 15:12

I have the kitchen spray

Q1. What was your opinion of the Naturally Powered products before using them?

*No opinion - never even noticed them before, since I shop in Tesco about every other month and tend to have a list

Q2. After using the products, what was your over all opinion? Did the products work? Were you happy with the performance? Did you like the smell and feel of the products?

*It cleaned the sticky crumbs off my worktop about as well as soapy water does and appeared to rinse away OK. I don't like the smell - it's a mixture of shoe polish and old lady and it hangs around too long. I'm quite sensitive to smells and have a headache after using it and have needed to put an extra dose of handcream on my hands because it's left my skin really dry.

Q3. How did the products compare to your usual cleaning products? Did it work just as well, better or worse than the products you usually use?

*The Mr Muscle spray I have on the go smells nicer and seems a lot more effective, even though it takes a lot more rinsing.

Q4. How important are the green credentials of the Naturally Powered range to you? Would this affect your decision to buy? If so, why? If not, why not?

*I never noticed any "green credentials" that would convince me that the product was any better for the environment than anything else. Just the word "natural" appearing prominently. Well, water is natural.

Q5. Will you continue to buy the Tesco Naturally Powered range? If so, why? If not why not?

*No. It smells horrible and has no redeeming features which would convince me to change supermarket just to buy it.

Q6. What, if any, improvements would you make to the Naturally Powered products you were testing?

*The smell - unpleasant and overpowering.
Packaging is cheap. The bottle had leaked in transit and the grey spray part is flimsy with sharp edges. I found it difficult to turn the nozzle to open it and felt like i was going to cut my fingers trying.

Q7. If it came up in conversation, would you recommend the products to a friend? If so, why? If not, why not?

*No. I don't like it.

happygilmore · 05/05/2012 15:14

I tested the spray.

Q1. What was your opinion of the Naturally Powered products before using them?

Never noticed them before!

Q2. After using the products, what was your over all opinion? Did the products work? Were you happy with the performance? Did you like the smell and feel of the products?

Thought it was really good, smelled nice and cleaned really well.

Q3. How did the products compare to your usual cleaning products? Did it work just as well, better or worse than the products you usually use?

Cleaned just as well as normal product I use, preferred the smell of this one I think.

Q4. How important are the green credentials of the Naturally Powered range to you? Would this affect your decision to buy? If so, why? If not, why not?

To be honest I generally look at price, but eco credentials are a bonus I guess.

Q5. Will you continue to buy the Tesco Naturally Powered range? If so, why? If not why not?

Maybe. Main reason I wouldn't is we don't generally shop in Tescos as find it a bit expensive.

Q6. What, if any, improvements would you make to the Naturally Powered products you were testing?

nothing really.

Q7. If it came up in conversation, would you recommend the products to a friend? If so, why? If not, why not?

Yes probably, seemed a good cleaner so why not.

mumnosbest · 05/05/2012 16:34

I tested the wash powder.
Q1. What was your opinion of the Naturally Powered products before using them?
I was a bit apprehensive as I prefer washing liquids that go straight in the drum to powders. I did really like the smell though, natural, old fashioned soap like what my mum used. Nothing perfumed. I was looking forward to getting into that newly washed bed.

Q2. After using the products, what was your over all opinion? Did the products work? Were you happy with the performance? Did you like the smell and feel of the products?
A bit disappointed I'm afraid. The powder did it's job and would be fine as a cheap alternative but nothing special. Clothes and bedding all came out clean and feel fine but the soapy smell has gone. The clothes just had a wet smell then nothing.

Q3. How did the products compare to your usual cleaning products? Did it work just as well, better or worse than the products you usually use?
It worked just as well but lacks a 'clean' smell.

Q4. How important are the green credentials of the Naturally Powered range to you? Would this affect your decision to buy? If so, why? If not, why not?
At the moment the biggest factor in my buying decisions is price. If it was low priced then the green credentials could persuade me.

Q5. Will you continue to buy the Tesco Naturally Powered range? If so, why? If not why not?
No, because it doesn't stand out as anything special and it lacks the 'newly washed' scent that I like.

Q6. What, if any, improvements would you make to the Naturally Powered products you were testing?
The smell (lack of). I'd love some of the smell of the powder to remain on the clea laundry. Also a liquid form would be an improvement.

Q7. If it came up in conversation, would you recommend the products to a friend? If so, why? If not, why not?
I wouldn't criticise it nor would I think of it to reccomend.

Sorry Tescos it just didn't stand out for me.

Wigeon · 05/05/2012 16:36

I haven't read any of the other answers before posting.

Q1. What was your opinion of the Naturally Powered products before using them?

Hadn't heard of them.

Q2. After using the products, what was your over all opinion? Did the products work? Were you happy with the performance? Did you like the smell and feel of the products?

I liked the antibacterial spray. I thought it worked as well as my usual one (which isn't eco-friendly). It was a bit too lemony for me but I didn't hate it; I'd just prefer a milder, non-lemon smell. I thought it felt fine, a nice thin spray and dried quickly after wiping.

Q3. How did the products compare to your usual cleaning products? Did it work just as well, better or worse than the products you usually use?

I particularly liked that after spraying, you didn't have to wait 5 mins for it to kill bacteria / viruses. The instructions on my usual spray say that you have to, and it's very annoying (and I usually forget or get distracted by the children). I thought it worked just as well as my non-eco usual product.

Q4. How important are the green credentials of the Naturally Powered range to you? Would this affect your decision to buy? If so, why? If not, why not?

Pretty important. I have bought Ecovert products before but switched back to own brand non-eco because I thought the Ecovert ones were more expensive but worked less well. I would definitely be more likely to buy something with green credentials as long as it wasn't horrendously expensive and as long as it worked.

Q5. Will you continue to buy the Tesco Naturally Powered range? If so, why? If not why not?

I would definitely buy the anti-bacterial spray again, and I am encouraged to try other products in the range, price-depending. I would be prepared to pay a bit more for an ecologically sound product as long as it worked effectively enough.

Q6. What, if any, improvements would you make to the Naturally Powered products you were testing?

A different fragrance - non-lemony, and not so strong.

Q7. If it came up in conversation, would you recommend the products to a friend? If so, why? If not, why not?

Yes - I was impressed that it worked as well as my usual non-eco spray.

canadajin · 05/05/2012 16:37

Tested the spray.

Q1. What was your opinion of the Naturally Powered products before using them?

Didn't scream 'natural/environmental' from the packaging. If I saw it on the shelf I wouldn't have picked it up if I was looking for an 'eco' product (which I would be). Logo kind of reminiscent of BP logo.....

Q2. After using the products, what was your over all opinion? Did the products work? Were you happy with the performance? Did you like the smell and feel of the products?

The spray was good. Spray action excellent and worked fine, certainly on par with my Ecover multi-purpose. Smell fine.

(however HATED the smell of the sample washing up liquid. Was wayyyy too artificial. Smelled more like fairy liquid and not natural. Yuck.)

Q3. How did the products compare to your usual cleaning products? Did it work just as well, better or worse than the products you usually use?

As good as Ecover spray, but wouldn't say better or worse. I haven't used a full blown chemical spray in years so can't compare to that.

Q4. How important are the green credentials of the Naturally Powered range to you? Would this affect your decision to buy? If so, why? If not, why not?

Really important, and felt the labelling didn't highlight as much as they could have. First bullet of 'taint free cleaning' -- I don't even know what that means! If I was going to buy more I would research this more fully.

Q5. Will you continue to buy the Tesco Naturally Powered range? If so, why? If not why not?

Probably not because I'm not a usual Tesco shopper (not one local to me). But if I was there, and needed cleaning products, and this was cheaper than Ecover I would. However, a big selling point to me of more 'eco' products is that your overall consumption of goods is reduced. Will you offer refills with less packaging? places to refill old bottles? that would be massive selling point (e.g.: if I could fill an old bottle from a tap at a Tesco store).

Q6. What, if any, improvements would you make to the Naturally Powered products you were testing?

Fragrance of the washing up liquid (turn it down a notch or two) and as above - look at more innovative ways to restock.

Q7. If it came up in conversation, would you recommend the products to a friend? If so, why? If not, why not?

Probably....though I don't spend a lot of time talking about cleaning products to friends/family.

sairygamp · 05/05/2012 16:41

I had anti bacterial spray and a small sachet of washing up liquid.

Q1. What was your opinion of the Naturally Powered products before using them?

I didn't know about them

Q2. After using the products, what was your over all opinion? Did the products work? Were you happy with the performance? Did you like the smell and feel of the products?

I loved the antibacterial spray, it worked really well - the smell was lvoely too. The washing up liquid sachet wasn't very good to be honest

Q3. How did the products compare to your usual cleaning products? Did it work just as well, better or worse than the products you usually use?

Easily just as well

Q4. How important are the green credentials of the Naturally Powered range to you? Would this affect your decision to buy? If so, why? If not, why not?

I try to be 'green' but sadly, don't usually make a real effort to buy green :(

Q5. Will you continue to buy the Tesco Naturally Powered range? If so, why? If not why not?

Possibly. DH does the shopping, so I'll suggest her buys the spray

Q6. What, if any, improvements would you make to the Naturally Powered products you were testing?

I don't know what was wrong with the washing up liquid, but I think it needs improving!

Q7. If it came up in conversation, would you recommend the products to a friend? If so, why? If not, why not?

Probably, because mainly, of the lemon smell

pepperrabbit · 05/05/2012 16:42

I tested the washing powder, thank you for including me in the trial.

Q1. What was your opinion of the Naturally Powered products before using them?
I had never heard of them - but I do think the name is appealing.

Q2. After using the products, what was your over all opinion? Did the products work? Were you happy with the performance? Did you like the smell and feel of the products?
My washing seemed as clean as usual - which was a surprise as I'm normally fully in the "bio" hot wash camp. The very first wash I did was a dark load and I did think some of the clothes looked streaked slightly - but not enough to re-wash and they were DH's anyway I liked the smell in the box - it had vanished after the wash and they didn't smell of anything at all tbh, I didn't use a fabric conditioner for the first few washes to get a clear feel for the product.

Q3. How did the products compare to your usual cleaning products? Did it work just as well, better or worse than the products you usually use?
It seemed to work just as well, I was pleasantly surprised.

Q4. How important are the green credentials of the Naturally Powered range to you? Would this affect your decision to buy? If so, why? If not, why not?
I like the idea of being environmentally friendly, but at the moment we cannot afford to pay a premium price for eco products. if they are the same price I will opt for the envornmentally friendly product. I did like the fact the measuring cup was recyclable as well instead of the normal plastic measurer.

Q5. Will you continue to buy the Tesco Naturally Powered range? If so, why? If not why not?
I would probably buy this next time I do a big online shop, I wouldn't travel to my nearest Tesco specifically for it (several competitiors are closer).

Q6. What, if any, improvements would you make to the Naturally Powered products you were testing?
I didn't realise it was a Tesco product from the packaging. I would hope the full size packet comes with a measuring cup as well.

Q7. If it came up in conversation, would you recommend the products to a friend? If so, why? If not, why not?
I probably would actually, it's unlikely I'd have bought this without the free test as I've never been convinced eco non-bio would work as well as my usual chemicals.

I tested the washing powder and a small sachet of washing up liquid.

Q1. What was your opinion of the Naturally Powered products before using them?

I wasn't aware of them.

Q2. After using the products, what was your over all opinion? Did the products work? Were you happy with the performance? Did you like the smell and feel of the products?

The washing powder worked well - shifted stains and made everything smell lovely. I was totally happy with it. The washing up liquid didn't make a lot of bubbles (and I know that's not necessary but I suppose seeing bubbles in the water reassures me that I've used enough soap) but it smelled really nice and fresh. It seemed to get everything clean, but there wasn't enough product for me to be able to find out whether it would shift cooked on food.

Q3. How did the products compare to your usual cleaning products? Did it work just as well, better or worse than the products you usually use?

Both worked just as well as my usual products, which aren't eco friendly.

Q4. How important are the green credentials of the Naturally Powered range to you? Would this affect your decision to buy? If so, why? If not, why not?

The green credentials are important but they're not the only factor in my choice. My primary motivation when choosing washing powder or washing up liquid is always cost. However now I've tried them and know they work, I'd be more likely to use them again.

Q5. Will you continue to buy the Tesco Naturally Powered range? If so, why? If not why not?

I would if it matches up to my usual products in price.

Q6. What, if any, improvements would you make to the Naturally Powered products you were testing?

Although the name suggests eco-friendliness, the design doesn't so much. I might change that. The products themselves are impressive.

Q7. If it came up in conversation, would you recommend the products to a friend? If so, why? If not, why not?

Yes, I would. I've never been impressed by 'green' cleaning products before these.

I have been testing the washing powder and i have been really impressed.

Questions:

Q1. What was your opinion of the Naturally Powered products before using them?

I was sceptical. My assumption was that co products wouldn't be very good.

Q2. After using the products, what was your over all opinion? Did the products work? Were you happy with the performance? Did you like the smell and feel of the products?

I normally use tesco non-bio and was very impressed with the new powder. It seemed to work better than the normal non-bio (although still didn't shift mud and fruit stains on white school tops). It didn't smell too floral either (very fragranced powder really makes me feel sick) but i would prefer it a little less perfumed.

Q3. How did the products compare to your usual cleaning products? Did it work just as well, better or worse than the products you usually use?

Better than normal tesco non-bio - i would consider switching to the new powder (depending on price).

Q4. How important are the green credentials of the Naturally Powered range to you? Would this affect your decision to buy? If so, why? If not, why not?

Price would probably be the main decider for me. Actually, i find it hard to belive how green the new powder is given that it obviously has lots of optical brightners.

Q5. Will you continue to buy the Tesco Naturally Powered range? If so, why? If not why not?

Depends on price.

Q6. What, if any, improvements would you make to the Naturally Powered products you were testing?

Less perfume.

Q7. If it came up in conversation, would you recommend the products to a friend? If so, why? If not, why not.

Yes, overall very good performing eco powder.

BirgitteNyborg · 05/05/2012 20:24

I have been testing the anti-bacterial spray.

No opinion - hadn't even heard of them!

Q2. After using the products, what was your over all opinion? Did the products work? Were you happy with the performance? Did you like the smell and feel of the products?

I liked the spray. It worked well. Nice fresh smell that lasted a while without being too overpowering.

Q3. How did the products compare to your usual cleaning products? Did it work just as well, better or worse than the products you usually use?

Worked just as well as the more well known eco brand that I usually use.

Q4. How important are the green credentials of the Naturally Powered range to you? Would this affect your decision to buy? If so, why? If not, why not?

Environmental friendliness is important to me and would definitely influence me to buy.

Q5. Will you continue to buy the Tesco Naturally Powered range? If so, why? If not why not?

Yes, probably, if I happened to be in Tesco although I don't shop there very often!

Q6. What, if any, improvements would you make to the Naturally Powered products you were testing?

None.

Q7. If it came up in conversation, would you recommend the products to a friend? If so, why? If not, why not?

Yes, I would recommend it.

Testing anti bacterial spray.

Q1. What was your opinion of the Naturally Powered products before using them?
Never heard of them.

Q2. After using the products, what was your over all opinion? Did the products work? Were you happy with the performance? Did you like the smell and feel of the products?
Happy with performance, used the spray to clean the top of kitchen cupboards that were a bit ming and greasy and it sorted them out. Smell was ok, teeny bit chemically.

Q3. How did the products compare to your usual cleaning products? Did it work just as well, better or worse than the products you usually use?
I normally use just water and an e-cloth, or ecover spray. This spray worked just as well as these.

Q4. How important are the green credentials of the Naturally Powered range to you? Would this affect your decision to buy? If so, why? If not, why not?
Green credentials are important to me and definitely influence what I buy. I try not to use to many chemicals when I clean my home, I prefer to look for natural alternatives.

Q5. Will you continue to buy the Tesco Naturally Powered range? If so, why? If not why not?
I don't tend to shop in Tesco, so I can't see I would buy this product. I certainly wouldn't make a special trip when ecover is universally available.

Q6. What, if any, improvements would you make to the Naturally Powered products you were testing?
Minor quibble, but I found the lever part of the spray slightly too short and tricky to use one handed.

Q7. If it came up in conversation, would you recommend the products to a friend? If so, why? If not, why not?
If I ended up in a conversation about cleaning products then I would need to take a long hard look at my life Confused

Q1. What was your opinion of the Naturally Powered products before using them?

I'd never heard of them.

Q2. After using the products, what was your over all opinion? Did the products work? Were you happy with the performance? Did you like the smell and feel of the products?

I've been using the anti-bacterial spray. It smells nice and seems to clean well enough.

Q3. How did the products compare to your usual cleaning products? Did it work just as well, better or worse than the products you usually use?

Not much in it between it and Milton (our normal brand)

Q4. How important are the green credentials of the Naturally Powered range to you? Would this affect your decision to buy? If so, why? If not, why not?

Not important. I think the green credentials are often there to sell the product and don't often harm the environment less. I don't purposely look for them.

www.guardian.co.uk/environment/2010/apr/29/green-cleaning-products-lack-evidence-which

Q5. Will you continue to buy the Tesco Naturally Powered range? If so, why? If not why not?

No, because I don't shop in Tesco and it wasn't sufficiently different to make me think I had to get it from there.

Q6. What, if any, improvements would you make to the Naturally Powered products you were testing?

I want to see evidence it is better for the environment, beyond a marketing ploy.

Q7. If it came up in conversation, would you recommend the products to a friend? If so, why? If not, why not?

I suppose I might. It seems to clean well enough.

Washing Powder

Q1. What was your opinion of the Naturally Powered products before using them?

I wasn't aware that they existed until now.

Q2. After using the products, what was your over all opinion? Did the products work? Were you happy with the performance? Did you like the smell and feel of the products?

Washing powder seems to clean well - have used it on whites and colours and it does the job. HOWEVER it doesn't all dissolve into the wash and leaves a fair amount of gunk in the drawer - I don't have this problem with my usual powder. The fragrance is overpowering in the box, but lovely once the clothes are dry.

Q3. How did the products compare to your usual cleaning products? Did it work just as well, better or worse than the products you usually use?
Just as well, apart from the amount of product left in the drawer after every wash.

Q4. How important are the green credentials of the Naturally Powered range to you? Would this affect your decision to buy? If so, why? If not, why not?
Not very important. My main concerns are cost and how well it does the job.

Q5. Will you continue to buy the Tesco Naturally Powered range? If so, why? If not why not?
Probably not, I'm very happy with my usual product, and although I don't know the retail price of this product, I would imagine it's more expensive than my usual brand.

Q6. What, if any, improvements would you make to the Naturally Powered products you were testing?
Too much product/gunk stays in the drawer - I would do something(?) to ensure all of the powder gets into the drum

Q7. If it came up in conversation, would you recommend the products to a friend? If so, why? If not, why not?
Yes, if my friend was looking for a particularly eco friendly product, because it seems to work well on the whole, and smells pleasant.

Q1. What was your opinion of the Naturally Powered products before using them?

Hadn't heard of the brand before, so please to be introduced to a new Green Cleaning Product

Q2. After using the products, what was your over all opinion? Did the products work? Were you happy with the performance? Did you like the smell and feel of the products?

I liked the look of the product and the product packaging. I felt the non-bio washing powder washed clothes as well as my normal product, however when it came to removing my husbands workout clothes sweat smells, the product didn't seem to take away the sweat smell which was a shame as it cleaned well otherwise.

The Washing up liquid was ok and didn't sway me either way. If it was on a deal I might buy it.

Q3. How did the products compare to your usual cleaning products? Did it work just as well, better or worse than the products you usually use?

Products appeared to perform just as well apart from removing sweat smells from workout clothes.

Q4. How important are the green credentials of the Naturally Powered range to you? Would this affect your decision to buy? If so, why? If not, why not?

The green creditals are important to me as I want to go as green as possible with my lifestyle, however I have been disappointed in the past by green products performance so am slightly skeptical at buying green products even though i would like to.

Q5. Will you continue to buy the Tesco Naturally Powered range? If so, why? If not why not?

If the washing powder is improved to remove heavy smells from clothes than yes I will buy the non-bio washing powder

Q6. What, if any, improvements would you make to the Naturally Powered products you were testing?

To remove smells - otherwise I'm happy with the product.

Q7. If it came up in conversation, would you recommend the products to a friend? If so, why? If not, why not?

Only if the product was improved to meet my needs than yes I would recommend.
