NOW CLOSED: Tesco’s Naturally Powered (antibacterial spray or non-bio washing powder) product testers review thread

AnnMumsnet · 01/05/2012 14:54

This thread is for the 1000 Mumsnetters who are trying out the Naturally Powered range of cleaning products by Tesco.

If you don't know about these products, here's what Tesco has to say:

"In the past, green cleaning products have been let down by their performance. Working closely with a team of chemists, scientists and environmental experts, we have created the Naturally Powered range of eco cleaning products - specially formulated to have a reduced impact on the environment than other leading products and with the cleaning performance you'd expect."

Mumsnetters have been testing either the antibacterial spray or the non-bio washing powder. In addition, all testers received a trial-sized sachet of washing up liquid.

If you are a tester, please state which product you were testing and answer the questions below - feel free to also add any other comments you may have.

Everyone who adds their comments to this thread will be entered into a prize draw, where one person will win £200 of Tesco vouchers.

Questions:

Q1. What was your opinion of the Naturally Powered products before using them?

Q2. After using the products, what was your over all opinion? Did the products work? Were you happy with the performance? Did you like the smell and feel of the products?

Multi-surface spray

Q1. What was your opinion of the Naturally Powered products before using them?
I liked the idea of ecological cleaning

Q2. After using the products, what was your over all opinion? Did the products work? Were you happy with the performance? Did you like the smell and feel of the products?
The smell is lovely and it seems very effective, it worked to clean the table after my children had dripped various items of food and drink on it.

Q3. How did the products compare to your usual cleaning products? Did it work just as well, better or worse than the products you usually use?
It worked as well as the Detol spray I usually use and better than the Planet Clean one I let the children use when they are helping out.

Q4. How important are the green credentials of the Naturally Powered range to you? Would this affect your decision to buy? If so, why? If not, why not?
They are important, we select eco products where available (and where they work).

Q5. Will you continue to buy the Tesco Naturally Powered range? If so, why? If not why not?
Yes.

Q6. What, if any, improvements would you make to the Naturally Powered products you were testing?
It might just be mine but the nozzle dripped so I'd fix that.

Q7. If it came up in conversation, would you recommend the products to a friend? If so, why? If not, why not?
Yes, if we happened to discuss cleaning products.

Faverolles · 04/05/2012 10:15

As I can't edit my post, can I add that I will be buying it.
I said it was too expensive for us now, then I had a lightbulb moment in the middle of the night that it's concentrated and I had a flash of understanding. Blush

smarmyarmy · 04/05/2012 10:20

I tested the antibacterial spray and got a sachet of the washing up liquid.

Q1. What was your opinion of the Naturally Powered products before using them?
I have honestly never seen them on the supermarket shelf, but happy to see that they are environmentally friendly.

Q2. After using the products, what was your over all opinion? Did the products work? Were you happy with the performance? Did you like the smell and feel of the products?
I thought they worked very well. The spray smelt lovely and fresh and cleaned well. The washing up liquid wasn't that great though, even though it had a lovely lemon fragrance.

Q3. How did the products compare to your usual cleaning products? Did it work just as well, better or worse than the products you usually use?
Spray worked equally well as the other products I use and the washing up liquid was not as good as Fairy, which I usually use.

Q4. How important are the green credentials of the Naturally Powered range to you? Would this affect your decision to buy? If so, why? If not, why not?
To be honest, price is a big factor and the green credentials probably won't encourage me to buy these products again. The performance wasn't anything special and I like to stick to my 'tried and tested' brands.

Q5. Will you continue to buy the Tesco Naturally Powered range? If so, why? If not why not?
No I wouldn't as I said before, the performance wasn't great and on a par with my usual brands.

Q6. What, if any, improvements would you make to the Naturally Powered products you were testing?
The spray was a bit leaky and the spraying mechanism wasn't the best. The packaging was also a bit insipid. Could do with some jazzing up.

Q7. If it came up in conversation, would you recommend the products to a friend? If so, why? If not, why not?
Probably not due to the fact that it isn't really anything special. Also, like others, don't really talk about things like that!

Avver · 04/05/2012 10:52

I tested the laundry powder.

Q1. What was your opinion of the Naturally Powered products before using them?

I'd noticed them in Tesco and had considered buying them as an alternative to Ecover when I bought that range regularly. I thought the packaging was attractive and made the eco-credentials obvious.

Q2. After using the products, what was your over all opinion? Did the products work? Were you happy with the performance? Did you like the smell and feel of the products?

I've used the Naturally Powered laundry powder on a coloured, whites and nappy wash. The two 40 degree clothes washes were fine, but I found that the product was not as effective on a reusable nappy wash as my usual product. I did like that the fragrance was subtle. The clothes felt soft to the touch when dry.

Q3. How did the products compare to your usual cleaning products? Did it work just as well, better or worse than the products you usually use?

The product performed slightly less well than my usual own-brand (Waitrose) non-bio powder, but was not hugely disappointing. The fragrance was better, however.

Q4. How important are the green credentials of the Naturally Powered range to you? Would this affect your decision to buy? If so, why? If not, why not?

Green cred is not as important to me as good value and effectiveness.

Q5. Will you continue to buy the Tesco Naturally Powered range? If so, why? If not why not?

Probably not, I'll stick with an own-brand non-bio.

Q6. What, if any, improvements would you make to the Naturally Powered products you were testing?

It seems to need a bit more 'oompfh' to shift the very worst that a toddler can fill a nappy with.

Q7. If it came up in conversation, would you recommend the products to a friend? If so, why? If not, why not?

Probably not, although I'd defintely mention that the fragrance is nice and subtle compared to other similar products on the market.

All purpose spray cleaner tested

Q1. What was your opinion of the Naturally Powered products before using them?

Hadn't seen them in store or advatised

Q2. After using the products, what was your over all opinion? Did the products work? Were you happy with the performance? Did you like the smell and feel of the products?

It seems to match up to other similar products, the smell is nice and fresh

Q3. How did the products compare to your usual cleaning products? Did it work just as well, better or worse than the products you usually use?

About the same tbh

Q4. How important are the green credentials of the Naturally Powered range to you? Would this affect your decision to buy? If so, why? If not, why not?

Now i know this works I would buy it again for this reason.

Q5. Will you continue to buy the Tesco Naturally Powered range? If so, why? If not why not?

Yes, as long as the price is comparable to other brands

Q6. What, if any, improvements would you make to the Naturally Powered products you were testing?

no improvements apart from the bottle leaked but might have been a one off

Q7. If it came up in conversation, would you recommend the products to a friend? If so, why? If not, why not?

Yes as long as the price was affordable

AvocadoAndFitch · 04/05/2012 11:54

Thanks for letting us test, we tested the wash powder.

Q1. What was your opinion of the Naturally Powered products before using them?

We don't shop at Tesco much - small store in town, no parking nearest big store is 15 miles away. So I hadn't seen this range before. When it arrived though, it looked very Ecover'y I liked the small size aswell.

Q2. After using the products, what was your over all opinion? Did the products work? Were you happy with the performance? Did you like the smell and feel of the products?

Wash powder - Did the job, clothes came out smelling of the wash powder still (which I like but some may find over powering). Cleaned Clothes well, so I was happy. Smells clean and fresh but not too perfumed. Clothes felt soft even without conditioner in.

Washing up liquid - Initially bubbled well and smelled good although bubbles disappeared when first items went in (2 x baby bottles). Without bubbles I didn't trust it was cleaning so topped up with fairy liquid. Maybe we got too small of a sachet to properly test but for one small washing up bowl it didn't work.

Q3. How did the products compare to your usual cleaning products? Did it work just as well, better or worse than the products you usually use?

On whites I felt the cleaning was good, bibs came out looking clean and white something my fairy powder sometimes misses. Didn't need to use fabric conditioner which was great and helps greatly reduce chemicals/products on DD2 eczema skin. The Dogs beds smelt fresh for days, which doesn't normally happen. Didn't affect DD2 skin, we have only found 1 other wash powder before that doesn't make her react. I also used less powder than I normally would. I also liked the fact it was in a bag aswell, means no spillage and you can use every last bit. (although not sure how "green' it makes it)

Wash liquid - I'll be sticking with my fairy liquid, unless Tesco let us test a bigger version and I find out it works in larger quantities.

Q4. How important are the green credentials of the Naturally Powered range to you? Would this affect your decision to buy? If so, why? If not, why not?

Very important, we always try to limit products/chemicals in our house because of DD2. We tend to stick to the same products to limit chance of her reacting to anything, so wouldn't have looked to change unless we had been told it was good for eczema or given it. But having tried it I would be happy to use this instead of Fairy powder because it has less chemicals.

Q5. Will you continue to buy the Tesco Naturally Powered range? If so, why? If not why not?

Not the Liquid as it didn't work but if I was in Tesco I would choose the powder over our usual wash powder as you use less, less chemicals and no need for fabric conditioner

Q6. What, if any, improvements would you make to the Naturally Powered products you were testing?

Washing up liquid needs improving to keep the bubbles while using.

Cup included only has one marking on it but the box gives different amounts for different water hardness etc. We live in a hard water area so use more than the marked 30g and while you can guestimate, it would be easier to have more markings on the cup, also on the inside instead of the outside.

Q7. If it came up in conversation, would you recommend the products to a friend? If so, why? If not, why not?

Yes especially for eczema sufferers.

elah11 · 04/05/2012 12:17

I tested the antibac spray

Q1. What was your opinion of the Naturally Powered products before using them?
I hadnt heard of the range before so had no opinion.

Q2. After using the products, what was your over all opinion? Did the products work? Were you happy with the performance? Did you like the smell and feel of the products?
I hated the smell, it was awful, very chemical and artificial. The product worked fine but the smell totally put me off.

Q3. How did the products compare to your usual cleaning products? Did it work just as well, better or worse than the products you usually use?
It worked as well as my usual product, no issues there.

Q4. How important are the green credentials of the Naturally Powered range to you? Would this affect your decision to buy? If so, why? If not, why not?
Yes the green credentials are important and would influence my decision to buy. Given the choice I would prefer the eco friendly product

Q5. Will you continue to buy the Tesco Naturally Powered range? If so, why? If not why not?
I wouldnt buy the antibac spray again, purely because of the awful, artificial smell but I would try other products in the range.

Q6. What, if any, improvements would you make to the Naturally Powered products you were testing?
Please change the smell, its really chemically and not a bit natural!

Q7. If it came up in conversation, would you recommend the products to a friend? If so, why? If not, why not?
No, I wouldnt recommend and it would be solely because of the smell.

heymammy · 04/05/2012 12:19

Q1. What was your opinion of the Naturally Powered products before using them?

Must admit I hadn't heard of the products until this test.

Q2. After using the products, what was your over all opinion? Did the products work? Were you happy with the performance? Did you like the smell and feel of the products?

I feel the washing powder cleaned the clothes really well but didn't leave any smell on items which I'm not sure whether that's a good or a bad thing...I like clothes to smell like they've been washed!

I used the powder to wash some towels and I felt they came out really hard and crispy.

Q3. How did the products compare to your usual cleaning products? Did it work just as well, better or worse than the products you usually use?

The powder cleaned as well as my usual product but without the smell.

Q4. How important are the green credentials of the Naturally Powered range to you? Would this affect your decision to buy? If so, why? If not, why not?

I'm very interested in finding greener products but at a comparable price. Good to finally have a decent competitor to ecover.

Q5. Will you continue to buy the Tesco Naturally Powered range? If so, why? If not why not?

Will need to check pricing before I decide.

Q6. What, if any, improvements would you make to the Naturally Powered products you were testing?

Most times there was still some powder left in the drawer as if it hadn't all been washed into the machine.

As the powder came in a bag inside the box I would be interested in just buying a refill bag, otherwise I don't see the point of the bag.

Q7. If it came up in conversation, would you recommend the products to a friend? If so, why? If not, why not?

Yes I probably would

Thanks and good luck with the prize draw!

Hello! Here we go then. I have the washing powder...

Q1. What was your opinion of the Naturally Powered products before using them?
Hadn't really come across the range before I tend to grocery shop on line and so hadn't really noticed them I don't think.

Q2. After using the products, what was your over all opinion? Did the products work? Were you happy with the performance? Did you like the smell and feel of the products?

Liked the powder - smells nice, washes well (compared to some other 'natural' products I have tried) and only slight complaint is the first time I used it it left a clump of soggy powder in the drawer - I don't think i used too much. It just didn't dissolve very well.

Q3. How did the products compare to your usual cleaning products? Did it work just as well, better or worse than the products you usually use?

Worked just as well as usual powders (use fairy/persil often) and compares well with these.

Q4. How important are the green credentials of the Naturally Powered range to you? Would this affect your decision to buy? If so, why? If not, why not?

I do try to be eco-friendly if I can but often the price difference really puts me off. It does influence my decisions to buy though - I currently have eco-friendly kitchen spray etc.

Q5. Will you continue to buy the Tesco Naturally Powered range? If so, why? If not why not?

I would, but currently don't tend to shop at Tesco.

Q6. What, if any, improvements would you make to the Naturally Powered products you were testing?

None

Q7. If it came up in conversation, would you recommend the products to a friend? If so, why? If not, why not?

Yes would do, although as others have said I can't remember the last time I discussed washing powder/cleaning products with a friend!!

lovelychops · 04/05/2012 13:42

I had a sample of washing up liquid and the cleaning spray.

What was your opinion of the Naturally Powered products before using them?

To be honest, I had never heard of them.

After using the products, what was your over all opinion? Did the products work? Were you happy with the performance? Did you like the smell and feel of the products?

Overall opinion was that I was impressed by them. The products were effective and I especially liked the smell of the spray cleaner.

How did the products compare to your usual cleaning products? Did it work just as well, better or worse than the products you usually use?

Found the washing up liquid as good as, if not better than my usual brand (Fairy) and the kitchen spray better than my usual brand (Flash spray with bleach). This was down to performance and smell of both products.

How important are the green credentials of the Naturally Powered range to you? Would this affect your decision to buy? If so, why? If not, why not?

In an ideal world green credentials of any product are up there with the most important factors I look for. However, in reality price tends to be the deciding factor followed by performance then smell.

Will you continue to buy the Tesco Naturally Powered range? If so, why? If not why not?

I will certainly hope to buy the products again, especially the cleaning spray. I think it will be dependant on price. I will keep an eye out for them and see how they are priced and if there are any offers on etc.

What, if any, improvements would you make to the Naturally Powered products you were testing?

Can't think of any. Though the sachet of washing up liquid did seem to have perhaps too much liquid in - there seemed to be an excess of bubbles but I don't know how relevant this is as it's a tester sample.

If it came up in conversation, would you recommend the products to a friend? If so, why? If not, why not?

I would recommend these products. Of all the 'green' ranges I have tried these products have been the most effective.

louiespence · 04/05/2012 13:46

Q1. What was your opinion of the Naturally Powered products before using them? I hadn?t heard of or noticed them before

Q2. After using the products, what was your over all opinion? I tested the antibacterial spray and was very happy with the performance of the product. Did the products work? Yes the spray was just as effective as the Dettol spray that I had been using previously. Were you happy with the performance? Yes Did you like the smell and feel of the products? The spray has a really nice lemony smell ? I really liked it! I have experimented with using vinegar in the past as an environmentally friendly alternative, but just couldn?t stand the smell ? this product seems to have the best of both worlds!

Q3. How did the products compare to your usual cleaning products? Did it work just as well, better or worse than the products you usually use? The spray compared really well to Dettol Antibacterial spray, which is the one I normally use.

Q4. How important are the green credentials of the Naturally Powered range to you? Would this affect your decision to buy? If so, why? If not, why not? I applied to test this range specifically to see if an effective ?green? product had finally been developed - I have used ecover and similar in the past (a few years ago now) and have been very disappointed with their performance, so did not continue to buy. Now that I have children, I am even more interested in protecting and sustaining the natural environment for their future, so if I could find a more environmentally friendly product that performed just as well then this would definitely affect my decision to buy.

Q5. Will you continue to buy the Tesco Naturally Powered range? If so, why? If not why not? Yes, probably, depending on price.

Q6. What, if any, improvements would you make to the Naturally Powered products you were testing? I can?t think of anything specific. I thought the packaging and branding were good ? not sure if you do this already, but perhaps offer refill packs for the washing up liquid/sprays that used less packaging?

Q7. If it came up in conversation, would you recommend the products to a friend? If so, why? If not, why not? Yes, if it came up in conversation, I would recommend the spray as an effective kitchen spray.

mamabearwithme · 04/05/2012 13:58

Antibacterial Spray
Q1. More expensive than the non-eco cleaners.

Q2. Well...the antibacterial spray seemed to do the job. I didn't go as far as rubbing raw chicken over the kitchen surfaces to test it but, so far, no one seems to have got ill since using it to clean. The spray bit of it could be a bit more punchy - it sort of seemed bit wimpy as it fell out of the nozzle. I would have liked a stronger smell too (although maybe this is one of the prices you pay for eco products? ie, aromas going back into the water system and giving fishes 5 eyes) but perhaps smelling of water is the intention..... For those that don't want or need all singing and dancing oranges and lemons, this anti-bac will do the job quietly but effectively without blocking your airways with artificial aromas?

Q3. It worked fine, but I seemed to need to use more of it than I would my usual anti-bacterial spray.

Q4. I do think it is better to buy products with green credentials but the cost of a product tends to sway my decision. If the cost difference is a few pence, it wont sway it, but more than that then it will.

Q5. To be honest, if it is on offer then yes. I tend to buy most things on offer. But as said before, it just didn't seem to go as far as my other usual spray.

Q6. Visually, I think the packaging is a bit bland (but what would I know?). I understand the colour scheme needs to reflect its ethos but a few more greens and blue would make it more visually attractive and make it stand out more. I would not automatically pick this out off the shelf because it looks very...watery. Also, i would add a stronger smell if at all possible. Finally, I would make the "spray" nozzle actually spray. Give it some welly!

Q7. No. I woudn't. See reasons above in q6. I would love to be able to - I would MUCH rather use eco friendly products, but I wont spend money on a product which doesnt deliver.

EmilyPollifaxInnocentTourist · 04/05/2012 14:56

Q1. What was your opinion of the Naturally Powered products before using them?

No opinion as I hadn't heard of them.

Q2. After using the products, what was your over all opinion? Did the products work? Were you happy with the performance? Did you like the smell and feel of the products?

Q3. How did the products compare to your usual cleaning products? Did it work just as well, better or worse than the products you usually use?

We usually use Ecover. The Ecover liquid detergent was better than the Tesco powder at very stained school uniforms.

Q4. How important are the green credentials of the Naturally Powered range to you? Would this affect your decision to buy? If so, why? If not, why not?

We buy eco-friendly so green credentials are very important.

Q5. Will you continue to buy the Tesco Naturally Powered range? If so, why? If not why not?

Probably not as their are better green products out there.

Q6. What, if any, improvements would you make to the Naturally Powered products you were testing?

I don't think a sample of 13 washes is really helpful to making a full assessment.

Q7. If it came up in conversation, would you recommend the products to a friend? If so, why? If not, why not?

Well, I've never discussed washing powder with friends outwith discussions on childhood allergies, but I wouldn't recommend them.

SleepyFergus · 04/05/2012 15:04

We tested the washing powder

Q1. What was your opinion of the Naturally Powered products before using them?

I had never heard of them

Q2. After using the products, what was your over all opinion? Did the products work? Were you happy with the performance? Did you like the smell and feel of the products?

The washing powder has worked really well, I was quite impressed! Clothes we washed well, and there was no powder residue on any of the washes I did. The was also no powder gunk int he drawer, but we don't live in a hard water area, and I did all my washes using the minimum amount required. The smell of the powder was very pleasant, but the smell doesn't linger on the clothes at all. The clothes just smell clean and fresh.

I haven't had a chance to use the sachet of washing up liquid (keep forgetting!)

Q3. How did the products compare to your usual cleaning products? Did it work just as well, better or worse than the products you usually use?

I would have to say that I think the powder is better than my current usual washing liquid. I have been contemplating changing over to a powder rather than a liquid and this came along at the right time

Q4. How important are the green credentials of the Naturally Powered range to you? Would this affect your decision to buy? If so, why? If not, why not?

I'm not really influenced by Eco products as I worry that they won't clean as well as non eco products, or at lower temperatures. plus Eco products tend to come at a premium, and washing products are already very expensive. I'm not particularly brand loyal and will go with whatever is on offer at the time.

Q5. Will you continue to buy the Tesco Naturally Powered range? If so, why? If not why not?

Unfortunately I don't do my main shop in Tescos, but if I had the opportunity to pop in, I might take a glance, and if it was at a reasonable price or on offer, I might pick up a box.

Q6. What, if any, improvements would you make to the Naturally Powered products you were testing?

Re the washing powder, I found the plastic bag very fiddly. Not so bad when the box is full, but I imagine trying to get the last few scoops out at the bottom would be faffy, and messy and potentially wasteful Would much prefer a pouring spout. I like the paper cup, but it would be easier if they put the measuring level on the inside of the cup.

Q7. If it came up in conversation, would you recommend the products to a friend? If so, why? If not, why not?

Yes, I would recommend.

SleepyFergus · 04/05/2012 15:04

...and thanks for the opportunity for testing, 'tis appreciated.

Flisspaps · 04/05/2012 15:05

First load in now.

One thing whilst I think about it, a larger cup with different quantities on would be helpful. I've put in a heavily soiled load (newborn poo, great stuff!) in hard water, and trying to accurately measure 2.5 cups (to the 30ml line) whilst keeping a toddler out of the utility and a newborn shouting for his afternoon snack really wasn't convenient.

The smell is very strong - and what's the bag in a box about? It's either one or the other, surely? Or even a paper bag like the Value Guinea Pig Food comes in?!

Will answer the questions once the wash is done and dried...

Calamityboo · 04/05/2012 15:19

Can I add to mine please, I am testing the spray, and the spray action on the bottle is lovely, not too much that it soaks the work top and spreads out lovely so you don't have to keep pumping the bottle to cover the area.

mummylin2495 · 04/05/2012 15:42

I have already commenetd on the washing powder,i have now used the washing up sachet and found it the same as any other really.I did have lots of bubbles which surprised me as i live in a hardwater area.

Elkieb · 04/05/2012 15:46

Q1, I didn't really have an opinion of the range as I hadn't encountered it before

Q2 after using the washing powder I was impressed as the clothes came out really clean and in particular the white baby clothes seemed really white. I like the smell although my husband said it smelt a bit chemically in the box, the clothes themselves seem really fresh and smell 'clean'.

Q3, I usually use either fairy non bio on the babies clothes and this product compared well, if not better as I preferred the smell.

Q4, I am more swayed by price but do try to do my bit for the environment. This would probably not influence my choice of product usually as price is the most influential factor.

Q5, i will buy the product if it is competitively priced.

Q6, i like the principle behind the measuring cup but I prefer them to be see through for easier measuring and did wander whether it would fall apart with more use or if it became wet. The packaging looks fairly modern and sturdy, though I think the bag that contains the powder is unnecessary and contradicts the 'green' message!

Q7, I would recommend the product to other people.

The washing up liquid is excellent too Smile

jaquelinehyde · 04/05/2012 15:50

Oooh I have recieved a sachet of washing liquid and some cleaning spray. I will use it over the next few days and then report back...never has cleaning been this exciting!

Bathsheba · 04/05/2012 15:56

Non Bio washing powder

Q1. What was your opinion of the Naturally Powered products before using them?

I assumed they would be ineffective and worthy....!!!

Q2. After using the products, what was your over all opinion? Did the products work? Were you happy with the performance? Did you like the smell and feel of the products?

I was really impressed..!!! It was a tough week in the Bathsheba household - the challenges have included trampled in mud, sick, poo, more poo, more sick, and climbing chalk...Everything came out as clean as I would have expected whilst using my normal cleaner (Persin Non Bio). I esp loved the smell of the washing up liquid trial...!

Q3. How did the products compare to your usual cleaning products? Did it work just as well, better or worse than the products you usually use?

It performed as well as Persil Non Bio which I have used for years.

Q4. How important are the green credentials of the Naturally Powered range to you? Would this affect your decision to buy? If so, why? If not, why not?

I'd LIKE to buy green, but it has to work (which is something I've found in the past that often they don't).

Q5. Will you continue to buy the Tesco Naturally Powered range? If so, why? If not why not?

I certainly plan on buying the washing up liquid and I've read very good reviews of the anti bac spray...I would certain;ly be happy to buy the washing powder again but it does depend on the pricepoint

Q6. What, if any, improvements would you make to the Naturally Powered products you were testing?

None really - it worked really well

Q7. If it came up in conversation, would you recommend the products to a friend? If so, why? If not, why not?

Yep, I really would..! I'd recommend them because they work - I'm well known as a laundry fanatic so people know I'll only recommend something I really believe in

bigbadbarry · 04/05/2012 16:26

Washing powder

Q1. What was your opinion of the Naturally Powered products before using them?

  • I hadn't heard of them, but my opinions on the box that arrived: very strong smell! Not sure why I need a bag in a box, and in fact I found this quite fiddly (am I supposed to empty the bag into the box?) I liked the little cardboard measuring cup. Very cynical about how "eco" this product really is.

Q2. After using the products, what was your over all opinion? Did the products work? Were you happy with the performance? Did you like the smell and feel of the products?
It worked well and the clothes came out nice and clean. Like some others have found, there was rather a lot of powder left in a sticky lump in the machine drawer after use. I found the smell quite strong - the load I dried outside was fine, nice and fresh, but the load I tumbled was a bit too perfumed.

Q3. How did the products compare to your usual cleaning products? Did it work just as well, better or worse than the products you usually use?
I use a wide variety of products. This one worked well.

Q4. How important are the green credentials of the Naturally Powered range to you? Would this affect your decision to buy? If so, why? If not, why not?
Very important, but call me a cynic I wonder just how green this powder is compared with the products I usually buy. besides deriving 5% of the ingredients from plants, what precisely allows the "eco" claims?

Q5. Will you continue to buy the Tesco Naturally Powered range? If so, why? If not why not?
I rarely shop at Tesco and prefer a laundry liquid so I am not very likely to buy it. (I found the dish liquid effective but too strongly perfumed, also.) If it was the only eco product on the shelf and I had run out, I would choose it.

Q6. What, if any, improvements would you make to the Naturally Powered products you were testing?
Make it dissolve properly/reduce the perfume/do something with the packaging to make it more easily accessible.

Q7. If it came up in conversation, would you recommend the products to a friend? If so, why? If not, why not?
I might say I had found it to work well if I was speaking to somebody who doesn't use "green" products.

I was testing the anti bacterial spray.

Q1. What was your opinion of the Naturally Powered products before using them?
Hadn't noticed them at all on the shelves, or in promotions/advertising.

Q2. After using the products, what was your over all opinion? Did the products work? Were you happy with the performance? Did you like the smell and feel of the products?
I thought the smell was a bit pungent and chemically even though this is a natural product, and although the spray worked ok on surfaces, it took a few goes and some elbow grease to shift marks on the hob.

Q3. How did the products compare to your usual cleaning products? Did it work just as well, better or worse than the products you usually use?
To be honest I prefer the one I use at the moment (Method) as the smell is lovely, the packaging attractive and it does a great job. The Tesco one looked really bland.

Q4. How important are the green credentials of the Naturally Powered range to you? Would this affect your decision to buy? If so, why? If not, why not?
I like to think I'm doing my bit and buy green occasionally if the price is comparable. that said the one I'm using at the moment is quite expensive but really worth it because I love it. If you can love a cleaning spray that is.

Q5. Will you continue to buy the Tesco Naturally Powered range? If so, why? If not why not?
Hmm no I don't think so, not unless it was on offer or super cheap. It was much of a muchness with other sprays really.

Q6. What, if any, improvements would you make to the Naturally Powered products you were testing?
The packaging is really bland and boring and wouldn't exactly jump out at you from the shelf. The bottle shape is pretty much the same as every other spray out there. I'd think about changing the colours etc. I hate to go on about the packaging as it's the contents that you're selling, but I think Sir Alan on The Apprentice would have something to say about the design - quite amateurish.

Q7. If it came up in conversation, would you recommend the products to a friend? If so, why? If not, why not?
I suppose if it came up in conversation (but cleaning is not usually on our Top 10 of topics!) I would say that I had tested it and it was ok, it did the job but wasn't really anything special. (Sorry)

Thanks for letting me try it though. Smile Oh and the washing up liquid was fine - if I saw it on special offer, or the price was comparable to others then I'd buy a bottle and give it a go.

Q1. What was your opinion of the Naturally Powered products before using them?

I hadn't noticed them in-store, but I quite liked the packaging; it is suficiently similar to the Ecover packaging to be easily identifiable as an eco-friendly product. I liked the espresso cup (washing powder) for measuring but it only just fits in the little box, and the interior plastic bag runs contrary to the brand's eco-credentials and was fiddley to get into.

The first wash is still in the machine so I'll report back when it's finished!

I tried the washing up liquid sample - it seemed to do as good a job as my usual product, but I found the very strong lemon smell a bit overpowering.

Thank you for the opportunity to try this out, and to feedback!

Right I am ready to finally give my feedback on the washing powder I used.

Q1. What was your opinion of the Naturally Powered products before using them?
Never heard of it before so couldnt really give an opinion

Q2. After using the products, what was your over all opinion? Did the products work? Were you happy with the performance? Did you like the smell and feel of the products?
Well the clothes came out clean so worked well there. It had a nice clean smell to the powder, but I didnt notice a particular smell on the clothes.

Q3. How did the products compare to your usual cleaning products? Did it work just as well, better or worse than the products you usually use?
I would say just as well as I haven't really notice anything not working. Dont know if that has anything to do with the fact that I shop at Tesco normally and always get the shop's own brand.

Q4. How important are the green credentials of the Naturally Powered range to you? Would this affect your decision to buy? If so, why? If not, why not?
Fairly important. We all have our bit to do for the environment. It wouldnt affect my decision solely on that fact though.

Q5. Will you continue to buy the Tesco Naturally Powered range? If so, why? If not why not?
It all depends on the price TBH. I go for the cheapest.

Q6. What, if any, improvements would you make to the Naturally Powered products you were testing?
Just that I would like to have different marks on the cup to measure out different amounts. On the pack it told you to use 30 for a light load in a soft water area, but with 3 children the clothes might need a bit more at times.

Q7. If it came up in conversation, would you recommend the products to a friend? If so, why? If not, why not?
I would probably point it out to them, but I dont know if I would recommend or not TBH.
