Sorry, forgot to say that I buy the maxi nappies as the fit is quite well compared to Sainsburys size 5.

Rindercella · 25/11/2011 12:22

I had size 4/4.5 for my 20 month old DD2.

Q1 What was your overall impression of Aldi nappies? Did they fit your baby/child? How did they feel?

I really like these nappies. Definitely on a par with Huggies, which is normally my nappy of choice. They fitted DD2 perfectly.

Q2 How did they compare with other nappies you've used? Did they do the job they were intended for? Any leaks?

They compared very favourably to other nappies I have used. At least as good as Huggies, better than Pampers and far superior to other own brand nappies we have tried. No leaks at all, which given DD2's nappies in the last couple of days is a minor miracle!

Q3 What did you think of the nappy packaging? Was it easy or difficult to open? What about the information on the packaging?

The packaging was fine - very similar to Pampers. Although actually, the bag had split by the time it reached me. Didn't pay any attention to the information.

Q4 How did you find the wipes to use? Did you notice any difference between the normal and sensitive skin wipes? Did you find you had to use more, less or the same amount of wipes as you usually do?

Really liked the wipes. Usually I prefer Pampers to any other brand, but these were at least as good as Pampers and better than Huggies. Loved the smell and texture and they did the job well.

Q5 Is there anything about the nappies, wipes or packaging that you think could be improved? If so, what?

Given the package splitting, I guess the packaging could be a little less flimsy.

Q6 We've included some info on how much Aldi nappies cost below - do you think that they're good value for money or not? Why? And how about the wipes - do you think they're good value or not?

I think they represent excellent value for money. I always buy nappies & wipes when they are on special offer and Aldi's products probably still cost less. The wipes are really good value.

Q7 Do you think you'll use the nappies again? What about the wipes? If so, why? If not, why not?

Yes I would definitely use them again. They are economical but effective. The only reason I wouldn't is convenience - I do much of my shopping online and would have to go to Aldi especially for these (think we have one locally)

Q8 If it came up in conversation, do you think you'd recommend Aldi nappies to other parents of children or babies in nappies? If so, why? If not, why not? And would you recommend the wipes?

Yes, I would for the reasons stated above.

Comfy Up Pants. Size 5. For my son 3yrs 2months old. He has a health issue that means his poo is utterly vile and very very sticky. Usually a Huggies nappy user.

Q1 What was your overall impression of Aldi nappies? Did they fit your baby/child? How did they feel?

On opening the packet I was quite impressed with the design. My son thought the elephant on the back of the pull-pant was really amusing. He laughed at that. I did wonder if the nappies were too thin.

Q2 How did they compare with other nappies you've used? Did they do the job they were intended for? Any leaks?

First nappy I noticed was hanging rather low after 1 hr. My son is a drink monster and does a lot of wees. If he'd have done a poo, I doubt it would have been contained in the nappy.

Second nappy - after 2hrs he had wet trousers and needed a full change.

I was really disappointed. It just cannot take his wees.

I have used the other nappies if I know he's going to b changed again very soon (e.g. before bathtime) and not likely to do a poo.

Q3 What did you think of the nappy packaging? Was it easy or difficult to open? What about the information on the packaging?

Packing was fine. Nothing outstanding but it had the details of size easy to spot which is important!

Q4 How did you find the wipes to use? Did you notice any difference between the normal and sensitive skin wipes? Did you find you had to use more, less or the same amount of wipes as you usually do?

I was rather impressed with the wipes. A good size. And thicker than my usual ones (Sainsburys). I usually use about 8-10 wipes for a poo. I was using 5-8 wipes with these. ANd it got the sticky poo off much easier than my usual ones.
Sensitive ones - the scent isn't offensive but it's not 'ooh lovely smell' either. The normal ones smelt better.
Good packaging on the wipes - good method on keeping them moist.

Q5 Is there anything about the nappies, wipes or packaging that you think could be improved? If so, what?

The wipes packing seems to be abit 'busy' cluttered with info and design.

Q6 We've included some info on how much Aldi nappies cost below - do you think that they're good value for money or not? Why? And how about the wipes - do you think they're good value or not?

Wipes - good value.
Nappies - if they don't leak for you are very good value.

Q7 Do you think you'll use the nappies again? What about the wipes? If so, why? If not, why not?

Not the nappies sadly because they just leak on my son.
I would use the wipes again.

Q8 If it came up in conversation, do you think you'd recommend Aldi nappies to other parents of children or babies in nappies? If so, why? If not, why not? And would you recommend the wipes?

I tell them to try them cos if they work for them then it's a good saving.
I would recommend the wipes.

Q1
Good impression - fit really well and felt soft & seemed comfortable enough for wee one.

Q2
First time I've tried 'own-brand' nappy and impressed. On a par with Huggies which are my most used disposable but not the eco credentials of Attitude my other preferred nappy. Much better than Pampers which are now less absorbent and smell horrid. Seem soft enough too. No leaks other than explosive poo episodes (usial evf type!) when nothing would have contained it!

Q3
Easy to open, perhaps too easily as strewn on floor in 40 secs but store elsewhere so no issue. Packaging straight in bin so didn't really pay much attention to design or info - sorry but this is typical for me...

Q4
Wipes particularly good - Stayed moist and dispensed one at a time as opposed to 5 accompanied by muted swearing. Preferred sensitive as LO does suffer w nappy rash and didn't have awful chemical smell some do whilst effective cleaning without irritating.
Q5
Yes the wipes very difficult to open one handed as stiff so this could be improved!
Q6
Good value yes as at least 25% less than what usually pay.
Q7
Don't have a store very close but would now consider trip occasionally to stock up on nappies & wipes.
Q8
Certainly and already have

My Lo is 7 weeks old we tried out the mini nappies

Q1 What was your overall impression of Aldi nappies? Did they fit your baby/child? How did they feel?
I found the Aldi nappies to be of good quality, were a bit of a tight fit on my LO who weighs 12lb even though they state they fit up to 13lb. They felt good not plasticy like some of the other cheaper brands.

Q2 How did they compare with other nappies you've used? Did they do the job they were intended for? Any leaks?
They compared very well they didnt leak at all even after LO done a mojor poo in one!

Q3 What did you think of the nappy packaging? Was it easy or difficult to open? What about the information on the packaging?
Very brightly coloured, easy to open information was clear to read and understand.

Q4 How did you find the wipes to use? Did you notice any difference between the normal and sensitive skin wipes? Did you find you had to use more, less or the same amount of wipes as you usually do?
The wipes were of good quality, but my pack didnt close properly so the top one was slightly dryer when next used. LO had very sensitive skin so I only used the sensitive wipes but the other ones were great to slean my make up off of my face after a night out! The pack had the same amount of wipes as other leading brands do.

Q5 Is there anything about the nappies, wipes or packaging that you think could be improved? If so, what?
the nappie sizes/weigh limits may need to be looked at as like i said they were a bit tight on my LO, and the wipes could be a bit more wetter.

Q6 We've included some info on how much Aldi nappies cost below - do you think that they're good value for money or not? Why? And how about the wipes - do you think they're good value or not?
I think both the nappies and wipes are of very good value, cheaper than the leading brands.

Q7 Do you think you'll use the nappies again? What about the wipes? If so, why? If not, why not?
I proberly would use both the nappies and wipes again if I was ever near an Aldis as they are of good quality and value

Q8 If it came up in conversation, do you think you'd recommend Aldi nappies to other parents of children or babies in nappies? If so, why? If not, why not? And would you recommend the wipes?
Yes I would as I really liked then, and money is tight for everyone nowdays.

*Please state the age of your baby/child and the size of nappy: 1 year old. Maxi / Maxi + Nappies - Size 4/4+

Q1 What was your overall impression of Aldi nappies? Did they fit your baby/child? How did they feel?*

They worked surprisingly really well! They fit my baby well - he's a slim baby and we've had problems with other nappies not fitting so it was great to find another brand that fits him. Actually the Aldi nappies are abit bigger than their comparable size in the Pampers but I found that all I needed to do was fasten the tabs abit tighter and it fit just as well as the Pampers. I was initially worried about the Aldi nappies leaking from the leg holes as the nappy hangs lower down in between his legs than the Pampers but we've had not problems with leaks and he still walks/crawls fine in them so they don't restrict his movement either. I find the nappy's texture feels abit rough and stiff in comparison to Pampers but my baby has been comfortable in them so that's fine by me.

Q2 How did they compare with other nappies you've used? Did they do the job they were intended for? Any leaks?

We found the Aldi nappies work just as well as Pampers which is the brand we currently use, although as mentioned before the only difference being the texture of the Aldi nappies seem stiffer and rougher than the pampers.

No leaks at all whatsoever (and we've had a few sloppy poos to contend with too)! Really pleased as I found Pampers were the only brand I tried that didn't leak - unlike Huggies, Asda own brand and Lidl own brand which didn't seem to fit round the leg very well. Also kept my baby's bottom dry even after wearing all night (8 - 12 hours).

Q3 What did you think of the nappy packaging? Was it easy or difficult to open? What about the information on the packaging?

The packaging is very similar to Pampers, so much so that I could imagine if someone wasn't really looking properly it could be possible to pick up a bag of Aldi nappies by mistake or vice versa!

It was abit fiddly to open, as with all nappy packs I've opened before - the bag seems shrink wrapped over the nappies so it's abit fiddly to find a loose bit to grab hold of and tear open. Also found that the bag didn't tear open where the perforations were. To be honest it's not something that really bothers me as long as I'm happy with the quality of the nappies I'm willing to put up with fiddly packaging.

The information on the packaging was abit 'busy' at first glance - seemed like alot of info in your face all at once but actually upon reading it, it was reassuring to read that the nappies were regularly tested agains leading brands and that it was hypoallergenic. Nice big colourful font for the size to make spotting the size nappies I'd need in the shops easy.

Q4 How did you find the wipes to use? Did you notice any difference between the normal and sensitive skin wipes? Did you find you had to use more, less or the same amount of wipes as you usually do?

The wipes worked well, although I found they a little bit drier than the brands I usually use (Pampers/Huggies/Simple) I found they performed just as well. The only problem being opening the plastic lid for the first time - I thought I was going to pull the nail right out of the bed! I'm just glad that I didn't have a really pooey situation as I don't think I could have opened them one handed whilst holding down a wriggly baby! I don't usually use wipes with the plastic snap lid so maybe i'ts becasuse I'm not used to it. Although I did find it easy enough to open afterwards and found they lasted well in my handbag - the lid kept the wipes fresh, wet and stopped random grit and fluff getting into the pack making them unhygenic unlike my usual Huggies wipes where the sticky flap looses it's stickyness. Performance wise I found no difference between the sensitive and the normal wipes - although personally I prefer the sensitive as I don't like scented wipes as I find they sting my baby's bump if he has a particularly bad rash.

I found I used about the same amounf of wipes as the brands I use usually - Pampers, huggies and Simple. They're all much of a muchness in that area as all the brands seem to be roughly the same size.

Q5 Is there anything about the nappies, wipes or packaging that you think could be improved? If so, what?

I would have said that I would have prefered the texture of the nappy to be softer but seeing as it has made no difference to my baby I'm happy with the way the nappy is currently. But other than that - no, I'm happy with the products as they are.

Q6 We've included some info on how much Aldi nappies cost below - do you think that they're good value for money or not? Why? And how about the wipes - do you think they're good value or not?

I think the Aldi nappies are great value for money! Compare them to pampers which is what I usually buy - the offer at Asda at the moment is 2 x packs for £10 - £5 for 27, for the same amount of money you get 21 more Aldi nappies than Pamper nappies that perform just as well! I'd be very interested to see if Aldi will be offering their nappies in the larger boxes like Pampers as opposed to just the carry packs which I tend not to buy as the boxes are more economical.

The wipes are also great value for money at 79p per pack and with each pack containing 80 wipes. I'm currently using the Huggies pure wipes and I only buy them when they are on offer at £1 per pack and they only contain 64 wipes per pack - so I'd be more than happy to buy more wipes for less and for the same performance too.

Q7 Do you think you'll use the nappies again? What about the wipes? If so, why? If not, why not?

I think I will! I've already bought a load of nappies and wipes and will have to use those up first but when I'm next due to stock up on nappies and wipes I think I will change from my usual Pampers to Aldi. With a recent financial change in our household I've been trying to make saving where possible - although I am less keen to do this for any of the purchases I make for the children (a personal choice, I'd prefer to 'do without' first than buy poorer quality goods for my kids). With that in mind because the Aldi wipes and nappies seem to be just as good as the Pampers I'd be more than happy to make the swap and not feel like I'm compromising on quality, whilst saving money. Thank you for letting me part of your survey, this will help us save quite abit of money when it seems the price of everything else is going up, especially Aldi is not a store I shop in - I doubt I would have even ever tried the Aldi nappies and wipes if it hadn't been for this survey!

Q8 If it came up in conversation, do you think you'd recommend Aldi nappies to other parents of children or babies in nappies? If so, why? If not, why not? And would you recommend the wipes?

Yes, I have recommend Aldi nappies and wipes with other parents as I know most parents are keen to save money too without compromising on quality, plus a few were not aware of the Aldi brand or that they do nappies - we have an Aldi store in town but it's not close enough for me to do my grocery shopping and this has been the case for other parents.

marmitericecakes · 25/11/2011 19:25

My son is 9 weeks old so we used the size 3 nappies.

Q1
They feel lovely and soft and flexible and look really cute. They have a far nicer look and feel than Lidl nappies. I really like the animal design with the clear difference on the front and back of the nappy.

Q2
We haven't experienced any leaks so far. They have contained lots of wee and poo and compare well with the other brand we use. The cuffs are soft and well positioned for my son. Some nappies really rub babies thighs and these don't. They're slim, soft and look really comfortable.

Q3

Packaging is simple - fuss free and no additional or wasteful material. The info on the packaging is easy to understand and clear for anyone to understand what they're buying, size guides and what the product offers. We found it really easy to open and it kept it's shape well to hold all the nappies in.

Q4
So far I've only used the sensitive skin wipes as my baby is young and I prefer to use cotton wool and water. The wipes seem efficient - no more or less useful than others I've tried.

Q5
I think the nappies are great - good value, comfortable and well fitting with no leaks - I'm really impressed with that level of performance. I don't really consider packaging to be very important but I like the fact there isn't any wasteful packaging.

Q6
I think the nappies are good value and are on a par with Lidl prices. However, if you buy big bulk boxes of Pampers they can work out a little bit cheaper. I would have expected Aldi nappies to be considerably cheaper than leading brands because Huggies and Pampers always seem to be on offer.
Wipes by major brands also seem to be on offer a lot but 79p per pack sounds cheap enough.

Q7
I'd definitely use the nappies again - I am really impressed.
As I'm not really bothered about wipes at the moment I can't say I'd buy them again but it's not because I prefer another brand.

Q8
I would definitely recommend the nappies to other parents. My friends who are expecting actually asked my advice recently so I'll definitely tell them about these nappies.

I would also recommend the wipes though not as strongly.

MrsChemist · 25/11/2011 20:27

DS is 3 months old andwe tried the size 3 nappies

Q1 What was your overall impression of Aldi nappies? Did they fit your baby/child? How did they feel?
They are large but still fit DS well. He seems comfy in them.

Q2 How did they compare with other nappies you've used? Did they do the job they were intended for? Any leaks?
They compare favourably to the other supermarket brands I've tried, which sometimes haven't been great and seem more absorbent than the pampers I last used. I've had one leak, but I'd not put it on properly Blush

Q3 What did you think of the nappy packaging? Was it easy or difficult to open? What about the information on the packaging?
It was ok to open, but it would be better if there were perforations (I couldn't see any)
The packaging contained all the relevant information.

Q4 How did you find the wipes to use? Did you notice any difference between the normal and sensitive skin wipes? Did you find you had to use more, less or the same amount of wipes as you usually do?
I found the wipes hard to open, especially one handed. The lid was very stiff. The last thing you want when changing a nappy with a wriggly baby is to have to wrestle with the wipes. I used a similar number of wipes as I usually do.
Didn't notice a difference between the two.

Q5 Is there anything about the nappies, wipes or packaging that you think could be improved? If so, what?
Maybe a brighter design. The colours are a bit subdued. I'd change the lid on the wipes as well.

Q6 We've included some info on how much Aldi nappies cost below - do you think that they're good value for money or not? Why? And how about the wipes - do you think they're good value or not?
Yes, I think they are good value. They were of a decent quality, and are cheaper than some of the worst nappies I've bought.

Q7 Do you think you'll use the nappies again? What about the wipes? If so, why? If not, why not?
Yes, I probably will. They are cheap and do the job well.

Q8 If it came up in conversation, do you think you'd recommend Aldi nappies to other parents of children or babies in nappies? If so, why? If not, why not? And would you recommend the wipes?
Yes, i think I would recommend them for reasons stated above.

TragicallyHip · 25/11/2011 21:04

Ds is 2.4 and we tried size 5

Q1 What was your overall impression of Aldi nappies? Did they fit your baby/child? How did they feel?

They fit great, I was expecting them to be quite thick and chunky like other cheaper brands but they were quite slim line. A bit of a papery feel like Huggies but nothing too bad.

Q2 How did they compare with other nappies you've used? Did they do the job they were intended for? Any leaks?

They are definitely on par with Pampers which are the only nappies I've really liked using. No leaks and Ds has worn them happily.

Q3 What did you think of the nappy packaging? Was it easy or difficult to open? What about the information on the packaging?

Easy to open and as much info on the packaging as any other brand.

Q4 How did you find the wipes to use? Did you notice any difference between the normal and sensitive skin wipes? Did you find you had to use more, less or the same amount of wipes as you usually do?

I don't think there was much difference between the two but that could be that Ds is not sensitive to wipes etc. I like the plastic lid type thing but it wasn't all that easy to get open, especially if you needed to do it one handed. They are a good thickness but not very moist and I felt like I used more than normal.

Q5 Is there anything about the nappies, wipes or packaging that you think could be improved? If so, what?

Make the plastic opening on the wipes easier to open.

Q6 We've included some info on how much Aldi nappies cost below - do yon/ u think that they're good value for money or not? Why? And how about the wipes - do you think they're good value or not?

Yes definitely good value but not a whole lot cheaper if you manage to get Pampers when on special.

Q7 Do you think you'll use the nappies again? What about the wipes? If so, why? If not, why not?

Yes will use the nappies again but not the wipes due to not being mbn/ oist enough.n/

Q8 If it came up in conversation, do you think you'd recommend Aldi nappies to other parents of children or babies in nappies? If so, why? If not, why not? And would you recommend the wipes?

I would recommend the nappies but not the wipes due to reasons above.

CuppaTeaJanice · 26/11/2011 09:46

DD was 2 weeks old when we started using these nappies, and weighs around 10lb.

Q1 What was your overall impression of Aldi nappies? Did they fit your baby/child? How did they feel?
I like them. They are virtually identical to the Sainsburys own brand that I usually use, so I wonder if they are manufactured at the same place. They do seem to come up quite high on the waist, giving a kind of Simon Cowell effect, and I should imagine they would be too big for a 6lb baby, although it gives that as the minimum size on the packet.

Q2 How did they compare with other nappies you've used? Did they do the job they were intended for? Any leaks?
Better than Huggies and Pampers, similar to supermarket own brands. We had one small urine leak, but the nappy had been worn for an entire night.

Q3 What did you think of the nappy packaging? Was it easy or difficult to open? What about the information on the packaging?
The appearance was much the same as any other brand. The perforations didn't tear very well or neatly, so this could be improved. Also it would be easier for removal if the nappies were packaged with the gusset rather than the waistband at the top. The picture is awful. I'm sure the baby is cute in real life, but the pic makes it look like he/she has a squint and big ears. Also the mum has been photoshopped in a wierd way so it looks like she has no brow bone or eyebrows, but does have a hairy adam's apple!

Q4 How did you find the wipes to use? Did you notice any difference between the normal and sensitive skin wipes? Did you find you had to use more, less or the same amount of wipes as you usually do?
They were good quality, but dried out very quickly if the lid wasn't fully closed.

Q5 Is there anything about the nappies, wipes or packaging that you think could be improved? If so, what?
The wipes lid was really difficult to open, and sometimes needed two hands.

Q6 We've included some info on how much Aldi nappies cost below - do you think that they're good value for money or not? Why? And how about the wipes - do you think they're good value or not?
Nappies are good value, although most supermarkets have offers sometimes which bring the price to lower than yours.

Q7 Do you think you'll use the nappies again? What about the wipes? If so, why? If not, why not?
I'd use the nappies again, although we don't have an Aldi in town, so I'd only buy them if I happened to be near Aldi for something else.

Q8 If it came up in conversation, do you think you'd recommend Aldi nappies to other parents of children or babies in nappies? If so, why? If not, why not? And would you recommend the wipes?
Yes I would recommend the nappies, but not the wipes as the packaging is so awkward.

By the way, why is the prize draw for Amazon vouchers and not Aldi vouchers?? Confused

CuppaTeaJanice · 26/11/2011 09:48

Oh, we used Mini size 2 nappies.

pinkpainter · 26/11/2011 17:09

My daughter is almost 3 (really should be out of nappies now, I know!!) - and I've been using the size 5 ones.

Q1 What was your overall impression of Aldi nappies? Did they fit your baby/child? How did they feel?

They fit well but they are not as soft as Pampers, they are a bit crunchy/plasticky. Also, they are a bit thicker than Pampers Active Fit.

Q2 How did they compare with other nappies you've used? Did they do the job they were intended for? Any leaks?

We had one leak but the nappy was ridiculously full - I wouldn't expect any nappy to withstand that amount of wee! It was impressive it had lasted that long tbh.

Q3 What did you think of the nappy packaging? Was it easy or difficult to open? What about the information on the packaging?

I hadn't noticed that the packaging was difficult to open, so must have been fine. The packaging looks nice and the info on the front is fine too.

Q4 How did you find the wipes to use? Did you notice any difference between the normal and sensitive skin wipes? Did you find you had to use more, less or the same amount of wipes as you usually do?

The wipes were fine, I noticed no difference to normal wipes (we usually just use whatever is on offer at the time, often supermarket own brand) , and they have a nice smell. I didn't notice any difference between the normal and sensitive wipes.

Q5 Is there anything about the nappies, wipes or packaging that you think could be improved? If so, what?

The feel of the nappies, I would like them to feel softer and not quite so cheap. I don't like the look of them, they are too pastelly in colour and too much decoration.

Q6 We've included some info on how much Aldi nappies cost below - do you think that they're good value for money or not? Why? And how about the wipes - do you think they're good value or not?

Definitely good value! Especially the nappies.

Q7 Do you think you'll use the nappies again? What about the wipes? If so, why? If not, why not?

We would - only problem is we don't have an Aldi near us and would have to go out of our way to get the nappies and wipes. If we were passing one we may well pop in to get some now we know how good they are and good value.

Q8 If it came up in conversation, do you think you'd recommend Aldi nappies to other parents of children or babies in nappies? If so, why? If not, why not? And would you recommend the wipes?

Yes, I definitely would recommend them, although I would say they feel a bit cheap compared to Pampers, but they are excellent value for money.

AlwaysSudden · 26/11/2011 19:28

Q1 What was your overall impression of Aldi nappies? Did they fit your baby/child? How did they feel?
Overall, I was impressed. They didn't feel too cheap & plasticky, like I thought they might. They fitted well & DS liked the animal pictures.

Q2 How did they compare with other nappies you've used? Did they do the job they were intended for? Any leaks?
I don't think that they hold quite as much wee as the nappies I usually use (Pampers), but they didn't leak overnight or anything like that.

Q3 What did you think of the nappy packaging? Was it easy or difficult to open? What about the information on the packaging?
It was easy to open. I didn't really pay any attention to the information on the packaging, as I never do.

Q4 How did you find the wipes to use? Did you notice any difference between the normal and sensitive skin wipes? Did you find you had to use more, less or the same amount of wipes as you usually do?
The wipes seemed the same to me - I can't smell, so perhaps that would've made a difference? I possibly had to use slightly more wipes for the bad poos, but it wasn't that noticeable.

Q5 Is there anything about the nappies, wipes or packaging that you think could be improved? If so, what?
Perhaps if the wipes were slightly more moist.

Q6 We've included some info on how much Aldi nappies cost below - do you think that they're good value for money or not? Why? And how about the wipes - do you think they're good value or not?
I was pleasantly surprised at how cheap they were.

Q7 Do you think you'll use the nappies again? What about the wipes? If so, why? If not, why not?
I will use the nappies again, & probably the wipes.

Q8 If it came up in conversation, do you think you'd recommend Aldi nappies to other parents of children or babies in nappies? If so, why? If not, why not? And would you recommend the wipes?
I would recommend the nappies. I wouldn't recommend the wipes specifically, but I wouldn't say anything against them either - they're just not exceptional.

Oh! I knew I'd forget! DS is 2.7, & used size 5.

McGriffo · 26/11/2011 19:56

Please state the age of your baby/child and the size of nappy you were trying in your response.
My DS is 2 (just) and we tried the size 4/4+.

Q1 What was your overall impression of Aldi nappies? Did they fit your baby/child? How did they feel?
I liked them. Nice design. They felt fine and fitted well.

Q2 How did they compare with other nappies you've used? Did they do the job they were intended for? Any leaks?
They compared favourably with other nappies I've used. I don't really have a complaint about them. They did a perfectly adequate job. I think we had one very small poo leak from the leg but I've found that happens with all brands.

Q3 What did you think of the nappy packaging? Was it easy or difficult to open? What about the information on the packaging?
I didn't really take a lot of notice of the packaging and didn't read the information (I've since thrown it away so can't check). I don't remember the pack being difficult to open.

Q4 How did you find the wipes to use? Did you notice any difference between the normal and sensitive skin wipes? Did you find you had to use more, less or the same amount of wipes as you usually do?
The wipes were quite thick and did a perfectly adequate job. I didn't notice any difference between the normal and sensitive wipes. I used a similar amount to the amount I normally use.

Q5 Is there anything about the nappies, wipes or packaging that you think could be improved? If so, what?
The only thing I found was that the wipes packet was slightly harder to open than other wipes brands I've used but this wasn't a big deal and I'm not sure whether it needs improving.

Q6 We've included some info on how much Aldi nappies cost below - do you think that they're good value for money or not? Why? And how about the wipes - do you think they're good value or not?
I think they're good value (both nappies and wipes). They're as good as any nappies or wipes that I've tried previously, some of which cost quite a bit more.

Q7 Do you think you'll use the nappies again? What about the wipes? If so, why? If not, why not?
Probably. Aldi's not my usual supermarket of choice though, so I'd have to make a special trip.

Q8 If it came up in conversation, do you think you'd recommend Aldi nappies to other parents of children or babies in nappies? If so, why? If not, why not? And would you recommend the wipes?
Yes, I'd recommend both as being good value products.

Pozzled · 26/11/2011 20:43

DD is 5 months, we used the Size 3 nappies.

Q1 What was your overall impression of Aldi nappies? Did they fit your baby/child? How did they feel?
I thought they were good, very reasonable for the price. The fit was quite generous compared to some other brands. They felt a little stiff on the outside, but seemed perfectly comfortable. I also liked the jungle animal design.

Q2 How did they compare with other nappies you've used? Did they do the job they were intended for? Any leaks?
No leaks or issues at all, even overnight. I'd say there were as good or better than other brands that I've used.

Q3 What did you think of the nappy packaging? Was it easy or difficult to open? What about the information on the packaging?
The packaging was good, reasonably easy to open, and quite informative. I liked the fact that it had a handle. I would like the weight range to be made bigger and clearer though as different brands have different weight ranges and it's one of the first things I look for.

Q4 How did you find the wipes to use? Did you notice any difference between the normal and sensitive skin wipes? Did you find you had to use more, less or the same amount of wipes as you usually do?
I didn't notice any difference between the two types. They both did the job ok and didn't seem to irritate DD's skin at all. However, they did seem a little dry to me and I would have preferred them to be a bit moister. I used the same amount of wipes as I usually would, but I just didn't like the feel of them as much as other brands.

Q5 Is there anything about the nappies, wipes or packaging that you think could be improved? If so, what?
Making the wipes a bit moister, and also making the wipes easier to open.

Q6 We've included some info on how much Aldi nappies cost below - do you think that they're good value for money or not? Why? And how about the wipes - do you think they're good value or not?
Yes, very good value. I usually buy Sainsburys or Tescos own brand, but these are even cheaper and just as good.

Q7 Do you think you'll use the nappies again? What about the wipes? If so, why? If not, why not?
Yes, I'll probably use both again if I'm near an Aldi as they're cheap and work well.

Q7 If it came up in conversation, do you think you'd recommend Aldi nappies to other parents of children or babies in nappies? If so, why? If not, why not? And would you recommend the wipes?
Yes I would because I think using Aldi rather than brand nappies is a great way of saving money.

AmberNectarine · 27/11/2011 08:30

DD is 20 weeks and we were testing the size 3 midi nappies

Q1 What was your overall impression of Aldi nappies? Did they fit your baby/child? How did they feel?
Yes they fit very well and felt fine, not too bulky - I liked the design.

Q2 How did they compare with other nappies you've used? Did they do the job they were intended for? Any leaks?
They were great, all through the night with no leaks which I often have with Pampers.

Q3 What did you think of the nappy packaging? Was it easy or difficult to open? What about the information on the packaging?
Very easy to open which was a nice change, packaging fine, quite Pampers like in design!

Q4 How did you find the wipes to use? Did you notice any difference between the normal and sensitive skin wipes? Did you find you had to use more, less or the same amount of wipes as you usually do?
Wipes were very good, normal wipes were perfumed, but I liked the scent. Used the same amount as usual, liked the fact they were not overly wet. Packet quite tricky to open which was a bit of a pain in a rush but good for keeping DS (23mo) out of the pack!

Q5 Is there anything about the nappies, wipes or packaging that you think could be improved? If so, what?
No, overall I thought they were excellent!

Q6 We've included some info on how much Aldi nappies cost below - do you think that they're good value for money or not? Why? And how about the wipes - do you think they're good value or not?
Yes very good value for money

Q7 Do you think you'll use the nappies again? What about the wipes? If so, why? If not, why not?
I don't think I'll use them very often, but this is only due to the fact there is no Aldi locally, as I was really pleased with the product!

Q8 If it came up in conversation, do you think you'd recommend Aldi nappies to other parents of children or babies in nappies? If so, why? If not, why not? And would you recommend the wipes?
Yes I would recommend as I think they are great products at a fair price.

Thanks for giving us the opportunity to test them!

ImpYCelyn · 27/11/2011 10:13

Forgot to say that DS is 13 months old, and we were testing the 4/4+ nappies.

LLOMs · 27/11/2011 19:04

We tested Size 1 nappies with our two 8-week old twin girls

Q1 What was your overall impression of Aldi nappies? Did they fit your baby/child? How did they feel?
Overall impression was good - they looked much like the other nappies we've been trying (Sainsbury's eco brand and Pampers). Was worried they would be too big as the girls have just graduated from the mirco nappies they were in but they fit well.

Q2 How did they compare with other nappies you've used? Did they do the job they were intended for? Any leaks?
Worked just as well as the Sainsbury's and Pampers and preferred these to the Huggies we've tried as well. They seem very absorbent and we had no leaks. It sounds silly but I liked the blue tabs. Didn't notice them until a 2am change done in my sleep - matching blue tab to blue front made it easy.

Q3 What did you think of the nappy packaging? Was it easy or difficult to open? What about the information on the packaging?
Have to admit I pay very little attention to the packaging - with twins, all we're really worried about is grabbing the right size and how much they cost. Nappies were easy to open - again, this isn't as important to us as we go through nappies quite quickly so we just need to be able to get them open!

Q4 How did you find the wipes to use? Did you notice any difference between the normal and sensitive skin wipes? Did you find you had to use more, less or the same amount of wipes as you usually do?
The wipes were definitely drier than the others we've tried which we liked - if the wipes are too wet, they just move the poo around rather than clean it off. The Aldi wipes actually cleaned them and we used fewer of the Aldi wipes (which makes them even better value for money). No difference between the two types of wipes in terms of performance and neither irritated their skin.

Q5 Is there anything about the nappies, wipes or packaging that you think could be improved? If so, what?
Like other testers, I had trouble opening the wipes the first time and they never really closed back up for me but they didn't dry out which I was pleasantly surprised about. Nappy packaging could be white with "27 SIZE 1 nappies" and that would be fine with me.

Q6 We've included some info on how much Aldi nappies cost below - do you think that they're good value for money or not? Why? And how about the wipes - do you think they're good value or not?
When I saw the price of these I couldn't believe it. I have to admit that the cost is the main factor for nappy and wipe selection (we've only bought other brands on sale or with vouchers). These are the best deal we've seen so far and the fact that they work so well is a great bonus.

Q7 Do you think you'll use the nappies again? What about the wipes? If so, why? If not, why not?
Absolutely - nappies and wipes. You get far more for your money with these than other brands.

Q8 If it came up in conversation, do you think you'd recommend Aldi nappies to other parents of children or babies in nappies? If so, why? If not, why not? And would you recommend the wipes?
Again, would absolutely recommend both.

Haribojoe · 27/11/2011 19:41

I was testing the size 3 nappies on my 14 month old son.

Q1. Overall impression was very good. I like the animal design on the outside of the nappy, especially the fact that they are so colourful. The fit of the nappy was really good. Only minor thing was that the outside doesn't feel quite such good quality as my usual brand.

Q2. For me they were just as good as my usual brand (huggies) did not experience any leaks even using them at night.

Q3. Packaging was easy to open, in fact easier than my usual brand. I didn't dislike the packaging but to be honest this isn't very important to me.

Q4. Loved the wipes. I noticed that they felt drier than other brands but they did the job just as well. In fact I found that I used less wipes than usual.

Q5. Only thing I noticed was that opening the wipes with one hand was quite difficult. I know it sounds minor but it's the only thing I would change if possible, after a couple of uses though I anticipated this and just opened them before starting the nappy change.

Q6. I think the value for money on both the wipes and nappies is fantastic. We do have a local Aldi store and having tested the products I intend to chnge to Aldi from the brand I usually use. Seems a double bonus to have discovered such a good product when expecting another baby in the new year when I will have two in nappies.

Q7. Would definitely recommend both products.

8rubberduckies · 27/11/2011 21:32

DD is 5 months old and we tested the size 3 nappies.

Q1 What was your overall impression of Aldi nappies? Did they fit your baby/child? How did they feel?
They fitted well and felt a little more papery than other nappies we use, but this was not a problem.

Q2 How did they compare with other nappies you've used? Did they do the job they were intended for? Any leaks?
Definitely did the job they were intended for, we were really pleased with them and no leaks (apart from dd's scary twice-weekly pooh explosions, and no living man has invented anything that can stem those tides yet). They compared really well with other nappies we have used.

Q3 What did you think of the nappy packaging? Was it easy or difficult to open? What about the information on the packaging?
I rarely read any information on nappy packaging past what size they are - the design was not very striking, but was fit for purpose. Easy enough to open.

Q4 How did you find the wipes to use? Did you notice any difference between the normal and sensitive skin wipes? Did you find you had to use more, less or the same amount of wipes as you usually do?
The non-sensitive wipes gave dd a bit of a rash, but to be fair we have never used perfumed wipes on her bum of any make before, so this may not be specific to the Aldi wipes. We swapped over to the sensitive wipes and all is well bum-wise now. Overall I love the wipes - the pack is lasting for ages and they are good quality.

Q5 Is there anything about the nappies, wipes or packaging that you think could be improved? If so, what?
More stand-out packaging, possibly made of recycled material or compostible?

Q6 We've included some info on how much Aldi nappies cost below - do you think that they're good value for money or not? Why? And how about the wipes - do you think they're good value or not?
Both are excellent value.

Q7 Do you think you'll use the nappies again? What about the wipes? If so, why? If not, why not?
I will use the nappies and wipes again - I have been meaning to try own-brand nappies for a while to cut household costs and I would be happy to go out of my way to my local Aldi to buy these over Huggies, which I currently use.

Q8 If it came up in conversation, do you think you'd recommend Aldi nappies to other parents of children or babies in nappies? If so, why? If not, why not? And would you recommend the wipes?
I would recommend both the wipes and nappies as being excellent value for money and good quality.

Takora · 27/11/2011 23:31

DS is 22 months and trialled the comfy up pants.

Q1 What was your overall impression of Aldi nappies? Did they fit your baby/child? How did they feel?

They seemed massive to be honest, but then DS is at the bottom end of the weight range, as these start from 12kg and I suspect he is only a little over 12. Probably for this reason, they could have been a little more secure around the thighs, but overall the fit was OK. They felt nice and soft and they were easy to put on. DS loved the elephant pictures!

Q2 How did they compare with other nappies you've used? Did they do the job they were intended for? Any leaks?

Did the jobs with no leaks. Although I couldn't test them for how well they contain poo bearing in mind the loosish fit around the thighs, as DS does his poos on the loo. Absorbency of pees was very good though.

Q3 What did you think of the nappy packaging? Was it easy or difficult to open? What about the information on the packaging?

Quite garish, but packaging doesn't really bother me. I look at price and whether the product is any good or not. I found it easy to open. Information was clear and good, but overall it could be a bit less busy.

Q4 How did you find the wipes to use? Did you notice any difference between the normal and sensitive skin wipes? Did you find you had to use more, less or the same amount of wipes as you usually do?

I LOVED the plastic closing lid - DS couldn't work out how to open it and pull out all the contents, so big bonus there. Yes, it's not very environmentally friendly, but then I hate those wipes that just have a piece of film over the top which your toddler pulls off and hides, or your husband forgets to stick back on and then the whole pack goes dry. I also loved how the wipes come out one at a time and don't stick to each other, meaning that you end up with the entire contents in your hand when you grab one out in a hurry. I didn't notice much difference between the wipes, although I really didn't like the slightly chemical smell of the fragranced ones. I would definitely go for the sensitive wipes if I was buying them. I found them to be a bit on the dry side and not always that great for wiping a pooey bum after DS had been to the loo. Felt I had to use the wipes almost like a serviette and pick up stray bits (sorry tmi) rather than a wipe with a bit more moisture which things would be more likely to attach to! For this reason, on pooey occasions, I ended up using more wipes than normal.

Q5 Is there anything about the nappies, wipes or packaging that you think could be improved? If so, what?

wipes - to be flushable and to be just slightly moister.
nappies - perhaps review the weight range or offer two ranges to cater to the many toddlers who are in pull ups from a younger age.

Q6 We've included some info on how much Aldi nappies cost below - do you think that they're good value for money or not? Why? And how about the wipes - do you think they're good value or not?

Very good value on all counts. Comparable with Tesco and Asda brands I currently buy.

Q7 Do you think you'll use the nappies again? What about the wipes? If so, why? If not, why not?

If I were near an Aldi, I might as we are still using nappies at night, but I do worry about the fit around the thighs, so would probably wait until DS was a bit bigger and get them if he was still using nappies in a few months.

Wouldn't get the wipes for DS as we use flushables, but if I were near an Aldi, would definitely get them for number 2.

Q8 If it came up in conversation, do you think you'd recommend Aldi nappies to other parents of children or babies in nappies? If so, why? If not, why not? And would you recommend the wipes?

Yes, I would recommend them. I'm sure the nappies fit better than the pull-ups. Although I love the packaging of the wipes, I'm not sure if I would recommend them for toddlers purely because I found them a bit too dry. They are probably fine for young babies who have different consistency of contents in their nappies.

Q1 What was your overall impression of Aldi nappies? Did they fit your baby/child? How did they feel?
I liked how they looked and they fitted really well

Q2 How did they compare with other nappies you've used? Did they do the job they were intended for? Any leaks?
They did they job, we had no leaks

Q3 What did you think of the nappy packaging? Was it easy or difficult to open? What about the information on the packaging?
Packaging was fine, easy to open, all the information you needed was on the packaging

Q4 How did you find the wipes to use? Did you notice any difference between the normal and sensitive skin wipes? Did you find you had to use more, less or the same amount of wipes as you usually do?
I found the sensatives wipes were not that wet so had to use a few more of them

Q5 Is there anything about the nappies, wipes or packaging that you think could be improved? If so, what?
Would not do anything to improve the nappies but maybe make the wipes a little more moist

Q6 We've included some info on how much Aldi nappies cost below - do you think that they're good value for money or not? Why? And how about the wipes - do you think they're good value or not?
I think they are very good value for money

I will use the nappies again but not too sure about the wipes as I feel they needed to be more moist

Q8 If it came up in conversation, do you think you'd recommend Aldi nappies to other parents of children or babies in nappies? If so, why? If not, why not? And would you recommend the wipes?
I would recommend the nappies to others.

20wkbaby · 28/11/2011 13:06

My daughter is 7 weeks old and I tried the newborn nappies.

Q1 What was your overall impression of Aldi nappies? Did they fit your baby/child? How did they feel?

The nappies fit my daughter well, didn't leave any mark on her legs. I always find with any nappies that it is hardest to get them to fit snugly around the waist so they don't gape/ are not too tight depending on the baby's changing position.

Q2 How did they compare with other nappies you've used? Did they do the job they were intended for? Any leaks?

They compared favourably with other nappies I have used for both my daughters. We have had some leaks at the back but as I said above this may be due to my ineptitude at putting them on. There were no leaks where the nappies were fitted around the legs.

Q3 What did you think of the nappy packaging? Was it easy or difficult to open? What about the information on the packaging?

The packaging and information compared favourably to other brands I have used. To be honest I didn't pay a huge amount of attention to it as they were a trial so I wasn't comparing them to other brands but didn't notice any difficulty opening the packet or anything that really stood out about the information provided.

Q4 How did you find the wipes to use? Did you notice any difference between the normal and sensitive skin wipes? Did you find you had to use more, less or the same amount of wipes as you usually do?

I loved the wipes! They were drier than other wipes which in my opinion is a massive bonus as particularly in cold weather I feel the wetter wipes of other brands must be really cold on the skin and it is so unnecessary to have the extra moisture as I used the same amount of wipes to get my daughter clean. The only negative is the ordinary wipes (not sensitive) had an unpleasantly overpowering smell which actually made me feel a bit sick and made me think there would be a lot of perfume in them which might irritate DD's skin.

Q5 Is there anything about the nappies, wipes or packaging that you think could be improved? If so, what?

No perfume!

Q6 We've included some info on how much Aldi nappies cost below - do you think that they're good value for money or not? Why? And how about the wipes - do you think they're good value or not?

Very good value for money.

Q7 Do you think you'll use the nappies again? What about the wipes? If so, why? If not, why not?

If I lived nearer to an Aldi store I would definitely use both the nappies and the wipes again but it is too far to go for me to justify just for nappies.

Q8 If it came up in conversation, do you think you'd recommend Aldi nappies to other parents of children or babies in nappies? If so, why? If not, why not? And would you recommend the wipes?

I would recommend the nappies and the wipes.

kellestar · 28/11/2011 14:59

DD is 11 months and is in size 3 nappies.

Q1 What was your overall impression of Aldi nappies? Did they fit your baby/child? How did they feel?
The overall look was fine, they did feel a bit plasticky on the outer shell, but the absorbant pad was soft and wasn't as chemically smelling as some I've tried. The fit was actually quite good, which surprised me as I've struggled to find nappies that fit well. She has just started taking her first steps and the nappy isn't bulky so allows her to move about quite well.

Q2 How did they compare with other nappies you've used? Did they do the job they were intended for? Any leaks?
I've bought a range of nappies from local supermarkets to try, name brands and own brands and have found some good and some bad. I've not tried Aldi before as there are no stores locally. The did look similar to some own brand supermarkets that I tried which were really poor, so was expecting these to perform the same way. DH wasn't keen to use them as an overnight nappy as they didn't look like they'd be that absorbant. DD sleeps for 12 hours at night and they didn't leak or wake her when full. She's quite active and we have had a few leakages in regard to wee, but the poos have stayed contained so far :) They weren't really chemically smelling when wet. Both me and DH have been quite impressed with them.

Q3 What did you think of the nappy packaging? Was it easy or difficult to open? What about the information on the packaging?
Packaging was easy to open, clear on size and the information was enough.

Q4 How did you find the wipes to use? Did you notice any difference between the normal and sensitive skin wipes? Did you find you had to use more, less or the same amount of wipes as you usually do?
The packaging was a but hard to lift the resealable flap. I also found that a helpful baby found that the plastic rips off really easy and makes them hard to reseal. As a wipe they were quite thick. I didn't really notice any difference between sensitive and normal, apart from the smell. I'd probably say I used less wipes overall compared to normal. They were moist but not overly so, enough to help clean but not soak the area.

Q5 Is there anything about the nappies, wipes or packaging that you think could be improved? If so, what?
I would improve the strength of the resealable flap on the wet wipes. DH is often heavy handed and if DD can rip them off, I'm sure he could too.

Q6 We've included some info on how much Aldi nappies cost below - do you think that they're good value for money or not? Why? And how about the wipes - do you think they're good value or not?
I do think they are good value for money. I currently pay £7.99 for 54 nappies that fit DD. The quality is much higher than I thought. Again I think the wipes are a good price and for me they are a good wipe, so value for money, yes.

Q7 Do you think you'll use the nappies again? What about the wipes? If so, why? If not, why not?
My only dilemma being how far away the nearest Aldi store is a good 30-45 drive from home. I would pop into a store and buy them if passing, but wouldn't make a special trip. Though I may stock up on the nappies and wet wipes.

Q8 If it came up in conversation, do you think you'd recommend Aldi nappies to other parents of children or babies in nappies? If so, why? If not, why not? And would you recommend the wipes?
I would recommend both the nappies and the wipes to friends, but as they also live in the same area, would have the same problem in getting to the nearest Aldi. My SiL has always highly recommended them, but she lives a 10 minutes walk away from an Aldi.
