MY DS in 15 months and we used size 4/4+ maxi nappies.

Q1 What was your overall impression of Aldi nappies? Did they fit your baby/child? How did they feel?
I liked them a lot. Not bulky and very easy to use. My little on has big legs and they fit him perfectly with no leaks.

How did they compare with other nappies you've used? Did they do the job they were intended for? Any leaks?
I use Asda ones, which are good but I was very impressed with these, no leaks at all.

Q3 What did you think of the nappy packaging? Was it easy or difficult to open? What about the information on the packaging?
Easy to open easy to get the nappies out. All the info was relevant on the packaging.

Q4 How did you find the wipes to use? Did you notice any difference between the normal and sensitive skin wipes? Did you find you had to use more, less or the same amount of wipes as you usually do?
I found the wipes a bit too dry. They are thicker like Huggies wipes and I am not a fan of those. Not as impressed with the wipes as I was with the nappies. Too think and too dry. Used more wipes than usual.

Q5 Is there anything about the nappies, wipes or packaging that you think could be improved? If so, what?
Maybe make the wipes less thick so that they stay moist. Plus the packaging on the wipes was a little hard to open( but stopped ds playing with them so that was ok!)

Q6 We've included some info on how much Aldi nappies cost below - do you think that they're good value for money or not? Why? And how about the wipes - do you think they're good value or not?
Good price on nappies, would save me 2p a month if I used them rather than the Asda ones. Very good value for the wipes BUT I do not think I would use them again as they were too thick for me sorry.

Q7 If it came up in conversation, do you think you'd recommend Aldi nappies to other parents of children or babies in nappies? If so, why? If not, why not? And would you recommend the wipes?
Most definitely would recommend the nappies, in fact I am probably going to stick to using them myself (not on myself obviously!!) The price is excellent and I had no issues with them at all. I would not recommend the wipes though, just too dry and too thick for me, I felt I was using too many in one go. I like a wipe that I can easily get one out of the packet but these were so think I invariably ended up getting out a few at a time.

DS is 5 weeks using nappy size 1, helping with wipes was DD aged 20 months

Q1 What was your overall impression of Aldi nappies? Did they fit your baby/child? How did they feel?

Overall a good impression, the fit was great. DH said they were the only nappy we?ve used that don?t look like his bum was falling out (but he has gained weight since we last used disposables). Initially I weren?t sure how they felt, they seemed a little rougher than I was expected, but this first impression quickly faded.

Q2 How did they compare with other nappies you've used? Did they do the job they were intended for? Any leaks?

We?ve not had any leaks, then again the only time we?ve had leaks with others was when we forgot to point his bits down (we?re new to this boy business)

Q3 What did you think of the nappy packaging? Was it easy or difficult to open? What about the information on the packaging?

I don?t recall problems on opening them. I thought the packaging was a bit naff especially all the ?design features? on the back. They were all what I would expect even of a basics nappy. I found It hard to spot the weight bracket, as we don?t use them often (for travelling mainly) this is the first thing we look for. The writing for weight was small and not bold.

Q4 How did you find the wipes to use? Did you notice any difference between the normal and sensitive skin wipes? Did you find you had to use more, less or the same amount of wipes as you usually do?

I thought the wipes were great and had the degree of abrasion that appears to be missing from UK babywipes. This meant we used less I think, although I mostly use cotton wool even with DD. I found the smell of the normal babywipes frankly horrible and very over powering but have never brought fragranced wipes before. Not sure I could comment if we found a difference.

Q5 Is there anything about the nappies, wipes or packaging that you think could be improved? If so, what?

In addition to clearer weight labeling, it would be good to see a man on the nappy cover, just one of them.

Q6 We've included some info on how much Aldi nappies cost below - do you think that they're good value for money or not? Why? And how about the wipes - do you think they're good value or not?

The nappies seem on a par with all the other own brand nappies, but the wipes I would say are very good value for money. Maybe if I used disposable nappies more I would think they represented more value for money.

Q7 Do you think you'll use the nappies again? What about the wipes? If so, why? If not, why not?

If aldi wasn?t out of the way to get to, I wouldn?t have a reason to not buy them. I would be prepared to go further out of my way to buy the wipes. In our location, I wouldn?t make that extra effort but if I was in the area I would probably stock up on wipes.

Q7 If it came up in conversation, do you think you'd recommend Aldi nappies to other parents of children or babies in nappies? If so, why? If not, why not? And would you recommend the wipes?

Yes I would to both.

DD is 2 yrs 11 months. We are trying size 5 nappies.

Q1 What was your overall impression of Aldi nappies? Did they fit your baby/child? How did they feel?

Yes they fitted her well. They felt more substantial than other nappies.

Q2 How did they compare with other nappies you've used? Did they do the job they were intended for? Any leaks?

Yes they last through the night. One did leak but it had been on her for three hours and in those 3 hours she had drank two cups of squash and done a mega poo so not surprising!

Q3 What did you think of the nappy packaging? Was it easy or difficult to open? What about the information on the packaging?

I just rippped open the packet which was easy. I didn't read the packaging to be honest.

Q4 How did you find the wipes to use? Did you notice any difference between the normal and sensitive skin wipes? Did you find you had to use more, less or the same amount of wipes as you usually do?

I don't think the wipes are as moist as they could be. I had to use more than usual on the mega poo described above. I like the scent of the non sensitive ones. I like the opening of the wipes. I prefer the normal wipes. DD doesn't have sensitive skin so not an issue.

Q5 Is there anything about the nappies, wipes or packaging that you think could be improved? If so, what?

I think the wipes could be more moist.

Q6 We've included some info on how much Aldi nappies cost below - do you think that they're good value for money or not? Why? And how about the wipes - do you think they're good value or not?

These are comparable to Lidl nappies and seem on a par with them. The wipes are good value especially as a lot of wipes on the market are priced at something ridiculous like £2.50!

Q7 Do you think you'll use the nappies again? What about the wipes? If so, why? If not, why not?

I usually use Lidl nappies which are slightly (20p) more expensive than these and as I do not live too close to an Aldi the price difference is not large enough for me to make a special trip to an Aldi. If I was near an Aldi and needed nappies I would be happy to buy some. The same goes for the wipes. I usually buy wipes on offer and am loath to pay more than a pound for them so these are good value.

Q7 If it came up in conversation, do you think you'd recommend Aldi nappies to other parents of children or babies in nappies? If so, why? If not, why not? And would you recommend the wipes?

I would definitely recommend the nappies. Not sure about the wipes. I think they are OK.

asuwere · 21/11/2011 19:48

DD is 21months, we used Maxi (4)

Q1 What was your overall impression of Aldi nappies? Did they fit your baby/child? How did they feel?

They are nice and a good fit. (DS's loved the pictures!)

Q2 How did they compare with other nappies you've used? Did they do the job they were intended for? Any leaks?

They are really good - haven't had a single leak, even after 13hr night! Very impressed. Have recently been using Huggies and the Aldi ones were much better!

Q3 What did you think of the nappy packaging? Was it easy or difficult to open? What about the information on the packaging?

Fairly easy to open, information seemed about the same as any other nappies - says what it needs to.

Q4 How did you find the wipes to use? Did you notice any difference between the normal and sensitive skin wipes? Did you find you had to use more, less or the same amount of wipes as you usually do?

The normal ones smell a little nicer but no noticable difference between them otherwise. I do like the plastic 'lid' but found that it was very difficult to open the first few times. They are quite thick though so use less than some other brands.

Q5 Is there anything about the nappies, wipes or packaging that you think could be improved? If so, what?

Nothing particular.

Q6 We've included some info on how much Aldi nappies cost below - do you think that they're good value for money or not? Why? And how about the wipes - do you think they're good value or not?

Cost is about average of what I would pay. I have no brand loyalty so tend to buy whatever is on offer. Fairly good though.

Q7 Do you think you'll use the nappies again? What about the wipes? If so, why? If not, why not?

I would buy them again if I was shopping at Aldi but I don't go there very often and I wouldn't go there specifically for the nappies, sadly.

Q8 If it came up in conversation, do you think you'd recommend Aldi nappies to other parents of children or babies in nappies? If so, why? If not, why not? And would you recommend the wipes?

I would recommend if someone asked. They are very good, average price (good if compared to big brands) and do the job, if not better than some of the big brands.

glenthebattleostrich · 21/11/2011 19:56

I used the Comfy Up Pants
Q1 What was your overall impression of Aldi nappies? Did they fit your baby/child? How did they feel?
I liked them, they were nicely padded and felt quite good quality. My daughter tends to have a bit of a sensitive bottom and can get quite irritated if wee?s are not held away quickly but has not had any reaction to these. The seams could have been a bit stronger.
My daughter is tall and these were a really nice length and fitted nicely around her chunky little thighs too.
My daughter and I both liked the elephant on the pants, my little girl particularly liked that it had a front and back, enjoying pointing out that an elephant can poo out of bottom!

Q2 How did they compare with other nappies you've used? Did they do the job they were intended for? Any leaks?
I didn?t feel they were as good at night as my usual brand, my daughter is a super wetter at night so they did leak a bit after a few hours but through the day they were great. Didn?t have to change any more frequently and even contained teething super poos, a task at which several supermarket own brands and branded nappies have failed at!

Q3 What did you think of the nappy packaging? Was it easy or difficult to open? What about the information on the packaging?
It was very bright and orange. It told me everything I needed to know (size, weight range and number of nappies). They were easy to get into.
Q4 How did you find the wipes to use? Did you notice any difference between the normal and sensitive skin wipes? Did you find you had to use more, less or the same amount of wipes as you usually do?
I really liked the wipes, particularly the sensitive ones. I thought the normal ones had a slightly strong smell but not unpleasant. The top stayed closed nicely and neither my daughter or the children I childmind could open it easily (which meant I used a lot less wipes in the week!) The wipes are really good quality, thick and as wet as they need to be. I used less than normal.
The sensitive wipes were great for taking of make-up and didn?t cause my horrible skin to flare up (which some brands do). They are also great for mopping up spills and dusting (yes I do that too, nothing gets spilled red wine out of a carpet like baby wipes)

Q5 Is there anything about the nappies, wipes or packaging that you think could be improved? If so, what?
The seams on the nappies could be a bit stronger, a couple ripped as I was putting them on.

Q6 We've included some info on how much Aldi nappies cost below - do you think that they're good value for money or not? Why? And how about the wipes - do you think they're good value or not?
I think both the wipes and nappies are really good value for money.

Q7 Do you think you'll use the nappies again? What about the wipes? If so, why? If not, why not?
I?ll certainly consider using the nappies again, they did their job and if I?m low on my normal brand I?ll use the Aldi ones until my brand are on offer again. I?ll definitely use the wipes again. They are really nice and fab quality for the price.

Q7 If it came up in conversation, do you think you'd recommend Aldi nappies to other parents of children or babies in nappies? If so, why? If not, why not? And would you recommend the wipes?
I?d certainly mention I use the nappies as a ?reserve? so to speak and if another parent said they were going to try supermarket own brand I?d say to try these.

The wipes I?d definitely recommend, for the reasons above. I?ve also recommended them to my childless friends as make-up removal wipes and to my childminding friends because they are such good value.

Ringosbaby · 21/11/2011 20:16

Q1 What was your overall impression of Aldi nappies? Did they fit your baby/child? How did they feel?

I was very suprised that they fit as well as they did, as DS is in size 6 of other supermarket brand nappies. We tried the comfy up pants in size 5 and they were really good, they stayed up well but didn't cut into his legs. They were nice and soft. DS liked the 'phunt-phunt' (elephant) on the front.

Q2 How did they compare with other nappies you've used? Did they do the job they were intended for? Any leaks?

They were fine in the day, but couldn't hold enough in the night and DS was wet in the mornings twice so we went back to our usual nappies for night time. I have however, noticed this seems to be a thing with all the pull-up type nappies we've used as I think they're thinner so I don't think its so much an error of the brand, just the style.

Q3 What did you think of the nappy packaging? Was it easy or difficult to open? What about the information on the packaging?

Easy to open and the nappies were packed well, not too tightly which is good when you're desperately trying to hold a toddler still on the changing unit.

Q4 How did you find the wipes to use? Did you notice any difference between the normal and sensitive skin wipes? Did you find you had to use more, less or the same amount of wipes as you usually do?

I cannot speak highly enough of the wipes. They were brilliant. Plastic lid is great, and doesn't break like some others I can mention (yes, Mr Tesco I'm looking at you) The wipes weren't all soggy at the bottom of the packs which was really good. Both worked equally as well for DS, I noticed no difference between normal and sensitive on his skin, which suprised me as he can't tolerate a lot of wipes.
I also used them on DS(6) who has SN and is doubly incontinent. Again they were excellent for her, although as she's bigger the normal ones were better as the fragrance masked any odours well. When I was trying to get the wipes out they came out one by one instead of in a massive great wodge which was good!

Q5 Is there anything about the nappies, wipes or packaging that you think could be improved? If so, what?

Wipes no. I am converted for the rest of my days, they are ace. Nappies could be more absorbent but this may make them more bulky, and I can only speak for the pull-up version, the normal ones I'm sure are fine.

Q6 We've included some info on how much Aldi nappies cost below - do you think that they're good value for money or not? Why? And how about the wipes - do you think they're good value or not?

I think both are good value, but especially the wipes as I think the quality of them is right up with the best. Having DS means I am a wipes conniseur, we easily go through 6 packs a week in thos house, sometimes more.

Q7 Do you think you'll use the nappies again? What about the wipes? If so, why? If not, why not?

I probably will use the nappies again as I will be going to Aldi to get the wipes (and chocolate) Will buy the wipes forever more. Good dusters too. (Think a lot of Mums use wipes for dusting)

Q7 If it came up in conversation, do you think you'd recommend Aldi nappies to other parents of children or babies in nappies? If so, why? If not, why not? And would you recommend the wipes?

Yes I would reccomend both. Especially the wipes. I like the wipes. Did I mention that? Grin

Child is 20 months, we tried out the size 5 Junior Ultra Dry nappies

Q1 What was your overall impression of Aldi nappies? Did they fit your baby/child? How did they feel?

We thought they were very good overall. DD is quite skinny but they did up around her waist without overlapping, and felt very similar to the usual brand that we use.

Q2 How did they compare with other nappies you've used? Did they do the job they were intended for? Any leaks?

They were at least as good as any other nappies we have tried - we had no leaks at all with these but DD managed not to have a poonami during the trial.

Q3 What did you think of the nappy packaging? Was it easy or difficult to open? What about the information on the packaging?

Packaging was fine, necessary info was easy to spot. My pack didn't tear straight down the perforated strip but that wasn't a problem.

Q4 How did you find the wipes to use? Did you notice any difference between the normal and sensitive skin wipes? Did you find you had to use more, less or the same amount of wipes as you usually do?

The wipes seemed to be very dry. DH commented on the lovely smell of the non-sensitive ones (we don't usually bother going for sensitive wipes either) They were nice and thick, but stuck together a lot, so I took to separating them out and laying them in a pile on my knee prior to removing the nappy! I think I used fewer wipes per change though. The seal on the wipes seemed to be quite stiff to seal as it didn't click shut like other wipes we've tried.

Q5 Is there anything about the nappies, wipes or packaging that you think could be improved? If so, what?

Wipes could be a bit wetter as they felt very dry. Rather than having a snap-shut pack, a peel-back adhesive closure would work just as well.

Q6 We've included some info on how much Aldi nappies cost below - do you think that they're good value for money or not? Why? And how about the wipes - do you think they're good value or not?

The nappies are very good value compared to our usual brand - 11.9p per nappy instead of 14.9p per nappy. Compared to Huggies wipes, the wipes are brilliant value, however we usually use Tesco Value wipes and these are MUCH cheaper at about 20p/pack and they're fantastic, very wet and the difference in the number of wipes I use isn't enough to make the Aldi ones better value.

Q7 Do you think you'll use the nappies again? What about the wipes? If so, why? If not, why not?

We would absolutely use the nappies again as they're as good, if not better, than the brand we currently buy (ASDA own brand) - we also have a baby due in April and would definitely buy Aldi nappies for this child too. I won't be changing the wipes to Aldi wipes though as they're 2-3 times more expensive than the wipes I currently use and they're not 2-3 times as good!

Q7 If it came up in conversation, do you think you'd recommend Aldi nappies to other parents of children or babies in nappies? If so, why? If not, why not? And would you recommend the wipes?

100% I'd recommend the nappies and wipes - a lot of my friends use branded wipes and there's no difference between those and the Aldi wipes. The nappies are a great price and do the same job as the ASDA own brand nappies and Pampers Simply Dry nappies.

TallyBear · 21/11/2011 22:01

Our LO is 3 1/2 weeks old and we used newborn size.

Q1 WHAT WAS YOUR OVERALL IMPRESSION OF ALDI NAPPIES? DID THEY FIT YOUR BABY/CHILD? HOW DID THEY FEEL?
We liked these nappies. We were worried that they were quite thin but they were really absorbent. The size meant they were quite compact and fitted well without too much 'excess' nappy between the legs.
Q2 HOW DID THEY COMPARE WITH OTHER NAPPIES YOU'VE USED? DID THEY DO THE JOB THEY WERE INTENDED FOR? ANY LEAKS?
These were on a par with Pampers. No leaks, even when used at night or over longish periods.
Q3 WHAT DID YOU THINK OF THE NAPPY PACKAGING? WAS IT EASY OR DIFFICULT TO OPEN? WHAT ABOUT THE INFORMATION ON THE PACKAGING?
Packaging was fine. Don't recall the information (pack long since gone out I'm afraid).
Q4 HOW DID YOU FIND THE WIPES TO USE? DID YOU NOTICE ANY DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE NORMAL AND SENSITIVE SKIN WIPES? DID YOU FIND YOU HAD TO USE MORE, LESS OR THE SAME AMOUNT OF WIPES AS YOU USUALLY DO?
Wipes were nice although not as soft as some brands. The smell of the non-sensitive wipes was a bit unpleasant, so probably wouldn't buy for that reason. Used roughly same amount as other brands of wipes. Plastic opening was sometimes difficult to open/close.
Q5 IS THERE ANYTHING ABOUT THE NAPPIES, WIPES OR PACKAGING THAT YOU THINK COULD BE IMPROVED? IF SO, WHAT?
Minor thing, but there are 'tabs' on the tops of the nappies which, at 3 in the morning, seem very similar to the 'sealing' tabs and I did put it on back to front, although only did this once! Not sure of the point of the front tabs.
Q6 WE'VE INCLUDED SOME INFO ON HOW MUCH ALDI NAPPIES COST BELOW - DO YOU THINK THAT THEY'RE GOOD VALUE FOR MONEY OR NOT? WHY? AND HOW ABOUT THE WIPES - DO YOU THINK THEY'RE GOOD VALUE OR NOT?
Both the newborn nappies and wipes are very good value for money.
Q7 DO YOU THINK YOU'LL USE THE NAPPIES AGAIN? WHAT ABOUT THE WIPES? IF SO, WHY? IF NOT, WHY NOT?
Yes we will be buying these nappies as they are just as good but cheaper than the ones we have been buying.
Q7 IF IT CAME UP IN CONVERSATION, DO YOU THINK YOU'D RECOMMEND ALDI NAPPIES TO OTHER PARENTS OF CHILDREN OR BABIES IN NAPPIES? IF SO, WHY? IF NOT, WHY NOT? AND WOULD YOU RECOMMEND THE WIPES?
Yes we would recommend these nappies and the wipes, although the nappies more so (wipes are wipes!).

Age of baby - 3 months; size 3 nappies

Q1 What was your overall impression of Aldi nappies? Did they fit your baby/child? How did they feel?

Overall impression - good value for money, like the design, do the job. Nice and thin compared to some other own brand nappies, but perhaps a bit plasticky feeling compared to eg pampers
Q2 How did they compare with other nappies you've used? Did they do the job they were intended for? Any leaks?

No leaks at all which is good. In fact seem to leak less than pampers. Definitely up there as the best own brand nappies (along with Lidl ones)
Q3 What did you think of the nappy packaging? Was it easy or difficult to open? What about the information on the packaging?

Very easy to open and clear info.
Q4 How did you find the wipes to use? Did you notice any difference between the normal and sensitive skin wipes? Did you find you had to use more, less or the same amount of wipes as you usually do?

Wipes good - perhaps a little less wet than some other brands. No real difference between normal and sensitive skin ones, though tend to buy the sensitive skin ones.

Q5 Is there anything about the nappies, wipes or packaging that you think could be improved? If so, what?

Packaging of wipes could do with being a bit more substantial - tends to rip when you open them and then is hard to reseal.

Nappies could be slightly softer

Q6 We've included some info on how much Aldi nappies cost below - do you think that they're good value for money or not? Why? And how about the wipes - do you think they're good value or not?

Excellent value for money, especially the wipes.
Q7 Do you think you'll use the nappies again? What about the wipes? If so, why? If not, why not?

Definitely yes for the wipes and probably yes for the nappies.
Q7 If it came up in conversation, do you think you'd recommend Aldi nappies to other parents of children or babies in nappies? If so, why? If not, why not? And would you recommend the wipes?

Yes - nappies because good value and dont leak, wipes because excellent value

SquishyCinnamonSwirls · 22/11/2011 07:29

I have one child in size 4's and another in size 5's and use Aldi nappies and wipes on both.

Q1 What was your overall impression of Aldi nappies? Did they fit your baby/child? How did they feel?

They fit well on both children, there is no gaping and they're not too tight around the legs.

Q2 How did they compare with other nappies you've used? Did they do the job they were intended for? Any leaks?

They do the job marvellously, and there hasn't been a single leak since beginning to use them.

Q3 What did you think of the nappy packaging? Was it easy or difficult to open? What about the information on the packaging?

Very easy to open, and I'll admit that the packaging makes little difference to me. I honestly don't tend to read the packaging.

Q4 How did you find the wipes to use? Did you notice any difference between the normal and sensitive skin wipes? Did you find you had to use more, less or the same amount of wipes as you usually do?

I prefer using Aldi wipes as they don't tend to have the concertina effect that a lot of other wipes have, and if you want a single wipe then it's easy to remove. They are effective without being too harsh, and none of the children have had a skin reaction of any kind. I have found that I use less as all of the wipes in the pack are moist and not bone dry at the top and sodden at the bottom like some other brands.

Q5 Is there anything about the nappies, wipes or packaging that you think could be improved? If so, what?

If the packaging could be recyclable that would be helpful.

Q6 We've included some info on how much Aldi nappies cost below - do you think that they're good value for money or not? Why? And how about the wipes - do you think they're good value or not?

I think all of the items I use are good value for money, I seriously don't believe in paying over the odds just for branding.

Q7 Do you think you'll use the nappies again? What about the wipes? If so, why? If not, why not?

Yes, both sizes of nappies and wipes are purchased regularly and will continue to do so as they do the job, are good value and I do my main weekly shop in Aldi so they are convenient too.

Q7 If it came up in conversation, do you think you'd recommend Aldi nappies to other parents of children or babies in nappies? If so, why? If not, why not? And would you recommend the wipes?

I would recommend any product to my friends that I find to be good value and effective. This isn't limited to nappies and wipes, but as I run a toddler group it often comes up in conversation!

age of your baby/child 23 months size of nappy 5

Q1 What was your overall impression of Aldi nappies? Did they fit your baby/child? How did they feel?
good, they fitted well. I liked the design and weren't too bulky
Q2 How did they compare with other nappies you've used? Did they do the job they were intended for? Any leaks?
No leaks and a good level of absorbency
Q3 What did you think of the nappy packaging? Was it easy or difficult to open? What about the information on the packaging?
I didn't really take much notice of the packaging
Q4 How did you find the wipes to use? Did you notice any difference between the normal and sensitive skin wipes? Did you find you had to use more, less or the same amount of wipes as you usually do?
The wipes felt thicker than those I normally use but they came out of the packet easily
Q5 Is there anything about the nappies, wipes or packaging that you think could be improved? If so, what?
I found the wipes packet hard to open and close

yes, I think they are good value
Q7 Do you think you'll use the nappies again? What about the wipes? If so, why? If not, why not?
Yes, I would use both again
Q7 If it came up in conversation, do you think you'd recommend Aldi nappies to other parents of children or babies in nappies? If so, why? If not, why not? And would you recommend the wipes?
Yes I would recommend the nappies but perhaps not the wipes because of the difficulty I had opening and shutting the pack

I was testing Size 4/4+ Maxi nappies with my 1yr old daughter

Q1 What was your overall impression of Aldi nappies? Did they fit your baby/child? How did they feel?

They fit fairly well considering that at 17lb 8oz my dd is at the lower end of the weight range for the nappies. They feel quite soft and not 'plasticky' like some cheaper nappies.

Q2 How did they compare with other nappies you've used? Did they do the job they were intended for? Any leaks?

They easily stand up against the 'big name' nappies in look, feel and functionality. I have not had any leaks with these and as dd is teething we have had some 'interesting' poos!

Q3 What did you think of the nappy packaging? Was it easy or difficult to open? What about the information on the packaging?

The packaging is non-offensive although I feel the change in colour from the old pack makes it look like you are trying to 'copy cat' Pampers rather than develop your own unique brand identity. They were fairly easy to open although the pack did not follow the perforations even though I tried to open it at that point! The information on the pack is clear and useful, however I hadn't actually read it until you asked and to be fair rarely read any info on nappy packaging other than the size and quantity.

Q4 How did you find the wipes to use? Did you notice any difference between the normal and sensitive skin wipes? Did you find you had to use more, less or the same amount of wipes as you usually do?

The wipes were difficult to get into the first few times - I found the plastic lid really stiff and difficult to open to the point it hurt my fingers! I even passed them around baby group to see if it was just me and the general consensus was that you wouldn't be able to open them one handed mid nappy change! Once the packaging is open the wipes are easy to get out of the pack and generally come out in ones rather than a few stuck together. I haven't noticed any difference between the normal and sensitive wipes other than the scent. I think I probably use about the same amount of wipes as my regular wipes. I like the fact that the wipes are quite thick and soft but would prefer a more moist wipe.

Q5 Is there anything about the nappies, wipes or packaging that you think could be improved? If so, what?

I think that the wipes could be a bit more moist and the wipes pack easier to get into! I think the plastic lid is good for keeping wipes fresh but was difficult to get into but wouldn't know what to suggest as a happy medium.

Q6 We've included some info on how much Aldi nappies cost below - do you think that they're good value for money or not? Why? And how about the wipes - do you think they're good value or not?

At just over 10p a nappy I think they are good value for money compared with the regular price of other leading brand nappies, however I often buy nappies when they are on offer which can make them cheaper per nappy. The wipes are good value for money even compared with 'on offer' prices!

Q7 Do you think you'll use the nappies again? What about the wipes? If so, why? If not, why not?

*I live within 10 minutes walking distance of Aldi so am likely to use these nappies again, however, this would depend if I could get other brand nappies cheaper elsewhere. I will definitely use the wipes again as they are excellent value for money!'

Q7 If it came up in conversation, do you think you'd recommend Aldi nappies to other parents of children or babies in nappies? If so, why? If not, why not? And would you recommend the wipes?

I would definitely recommend Aldi nappies and wipes to other parents. I have often recommended Aldi nappies in the past as used them all the time with my first son (now 3) - my biggest issue at the time was that size 3 was the smallest I ever saw and the shop closest to me rarely had the comfy up pants!

Squiffie · 22/11/2011 10:08

Just noticed there are 2 question 7s, lol :o

Flisspaps · 22/11/2011 11:19

I've just discovered what one of the other posters meant when mentioning the sharp edge on the top of the wipes cover having just jabbed my finger on it mid-change.

Ouch - that's definitely something that needs looking at.

MoaningMinnieWhingesAgain · 22/11/2011 12:08

I am not reviewing nappies, I have no children in nappies these days.

But can I just say how much I enjoyed SoH's review Grin Fabulous stuff!

Q1 What was your overall impression of Aldi nappies? Did they fit your baby/child? How did they feel?

overall impression is good! they fit my ds fine, feel very soft, look just as good as any other similar nappy

Q2 How did they compare with other nappies you've used? Did they do the job they were intended for? Any leaks?

they have been fine even overnight no leaks

Q3 What did you think of the nappy packaging? Was it easy or difficult to open? What about the information on the packaging?

easy enough to open, i dont think i read the info on the packaging as i dont normally read any of it? although i did notice they only do up to size 5 not size 6 as huggies and pampers do

Q4 How did you find the wipes to use? Did you notice any difference between the normal and sensitive skin wipes? Did you find you had to use more, less or the same amount of wipes as you usually do?

i think had to use slightly more they dont seem quite as moist as the pampers sensitive that i normally use, and not quite as soft. they do the job fine but i did find them not quite as good as my normal. also i find those clicky lid things on the packet a bit annoying although i can see they are good in theory. i didnt see much difference from the sensitive or normal apart from the normal had a stronger scent

Q5 Is there anything about the nappies, wipes or packaging that you think could be improved? If so, what?

just the wipes, i would prefer without the clicky thing on the pack

Q6 We've included some info on how much Aldi nappies cost below - do you think that they're good value for money or not? Why? And how about the wipes - do you think they're good value or not?

defnitely good value! especially the nappies. wipes i normally buy in a multipack of about 12? so i think if the aldi wipes were put into a multipack it could be made better value

Q7 Do you think you'll use the nappies again? What about the wipes? If so, why? If not, why not?

yes i would be happy to use again, im not really near an aldi but my mum is so she said if i like them she will start buying them for me sometimes.

Q8 If it came up in conversation, do you think you'd recommend Aldi nappies to other parents of children or babies in nappies? If so, why? If not, why not? And would you recommend the wipes?

yes i would recommend the nappies, not so much the wipes as i dont think they will sway me from my pampers wipes but the nappies definitiely as they are just as good as others, and are cheaper so why not use these and save the money

screamingeels · 22/11/2011 12:56

Okay not so much testing - these are the nappies and wipea we use.
DS is 16 months, we use reusables most of the time but always have some Mamia maxi 4/4+ around for emergency/ conveninece.
DD is 4 yrs old and uses comfy up at night.

Q1 What was your overall impression of Aldi nappies? Did they fit your baby/child? How did they feel?
They fit very well and feel fine. Thought DD might complain that the comfy-ups weren't as soft or fitted as some of the other night-time nappies used but she hasn't.

Q2 How did they compare with other nappies you've used? Did they do the job they were intended for? Any leaks?
They work just find holding in leaks etc.

Q3 What did you think of the nappy packaging? Was it easy or difficult to open? What about the information on the packaging?
I just ripped into packaging and didn't read it - thats pretty much what I do with all nappies

Q4 How did you find the wipes to use? Did you notice any difference between the normal and sensitive skin wipes? Did you find you had to use more, less or the same amount of wipes as you usually do?
Wipes are good in not all clumped together, and I use only two so as good as the best I think. 'clicky thing' works for us, where wipes have only a plastic bit kids tend to rip that off and then often rip hole in packet.

Q5 Is there anything about the nappies, wipes or packaging that you think could be improved? If so, what?
Suspect DD woudl like a princess on her pull-ups, I think elephants look a bit babyish. But she hasn't complained.

Q6 We've included some info on how much Aldi nappies cost below - do you think that they're good value for money or not? Why? And how about the wipes - do you think they're good value or not?
Yup good value, thats why we buy them.

Q7 Do you think you'll use the nappies again? What about the wipes? If so, why? If not, why not?
they are laready our nappy of choice.

Q8 If it came up in conversation, do you think you'd recommend Aldi nappies to other parents of children or babies in nappies? If so, why? If not, why not? And would you recommend the wipes?
Yes to both..

PrettyVacant1 · 22/11/2011 13:21

My DD1 is 12 weeks and we used the Mamia Mini Nappies... Thanks

Q1 What was your overall impression of Aldi nappies? Did they fit your baby/child? How did they feel?
They looked and felt really soft but slightly on the bulky side compared to leading brands.
My DD is tiddly and has a really skinny long bum and legs.
They still fitted perfectly.

Q2 How did they compare with other nappies you've used? Did they do the job they were intended for? Any leaks?
We actually had several poonamis and they really held their own!
No leaks, very impressed.

Q3 What did you think of the nappy packaging? Was it easy or difficult to open? What about the information on the packaging?
Standard packaging, nothing eye catching.
At first glance they did look cheap.
Lots of info on pack about features as per.
Easy to open, but the first time I pulled a nappy out about 4 sprung out at the same time as they were packed in quite tight, not easy to do one handed if you're not organised like me, holding down a pooey baby with the other. Grin

Q4 How did you find the wipes to use? Did you notice any difference between the normal and sensitive skin wipes? Did you find you had to use more, less or the same amount of wipes as you usually do?
Wipes were good, thick and I although they are not as moist as the brand I usually use we only needed the same amount.
Didn't notice a great difference between the sensitive and regular apart from fragrance.

Q5 Is there anything about the nappies, wipes or packaging that you think could be improved? If so, what?
Packaging looks cheap.
The nappies are fantastic! Couldn't fault them.
I was wary about trying them overnight and when we left the house always took our brand out as well but after a few days the Pampers have been shoved to the back of the basket!
With the wipes, I found the smell was rather chemically and the pack was difficult to open one handed although the plastic tab was a nice feature considering the price.

Q6 We've included some info on how much Aldi nappies cost below - do you think that they're good value for money or not? Why? And how about the wipes - do you think they're good value or not?
Amazing value!

Q7 If it came up in conversation, do you think you'd recommend Aldi nappies to other parents of children or babies in nappies? If so, why? If not, why not? And would you recommend the wipes?
Nappies certainly, wipes yeah, for the price they are decent.

YellowYoYo · 22/11/2011 14:23

Tester DD 16months. Using the size 4/4+ pack (used on elder child too so have tried full range)

Q1 What was your overall impression of Aldi nappies? Did they fit your baby/child? How did they feel?
I like the feel of them although occasionally the smell is odd. I prefer them to the thinner plasticy pampers.

Q2 How did they compare with other nappies you've used? Did they do the job they were intended for? Any leaks?
Fit for purpose. No leaks. Good absorbency. Hate the leaky gel balls from pampers so am very glad these don't do that. Huggies do not fit right. Tesco own brand leak.

Q3 What did you think of the nappy packaging? Was it easy or difficult to open? What about the information on the packaging?
DOn't really pay attention. Am gald the sizing is similar across brands.

Q4 How did you find the wipes to use? Did you notice any difference between the normal and sensitive skin wipes? Did you find you had to use more, less or the same amount of wipes as you usually do?
Only use non-perfume. Glad they are perforatted / folded well so that only one comes out at a time. Like the plastic lid instead of scticky tab to keep them moist but do hope it is recycable?

Q5 Is there anything about the nappies, wipes or packaging that you think could be improved? If so, what?
Availability of size 4/4+ (recently I have been foced to buy size 5 a cople of times and they do leak even though she does actually weigh enough for them)

Q6 We've included some info on how much Aldi nappies cost below - do you think that they're good value for money or not? Why? And how about the wipes - do you think they're good value or not?
Yes. Very good value for money. (although less so than in 2007 when I started buying them)

Q7 Do you think you'll use the nappies again? What about the wipes? If so, why? If not, why not?
This is my preferred brand.

Q7 If it came up in conversation, do you think you'd recommend Aldi nappies to other parents of children or babies in nappies? If so, why? If not, why not? And would you recommend the wipes?
Yes, I have and have converted 3 families.

FromGirders · 22/11/2011 16:06

Could someone please look at the wipes packet, and see if they're biodegradable? Thank you.

lorrainezzz · 22/11/2011 16:10

My daughter is 9 months and we use the 4/4+ size.

Q1 What was your overall impression of Aldi nappies? Did they fit your baby/child? How did they feel?
Excellent. Best fit we have had, compared with Pampers, Huggies and Tescos own brand. My baby has quite chubby legs and there has been no rubbing or irritation. I like the feel and thickness. They do not feel bulky at all.

Q2 How did they compare with other nappies you've used? Did they do the job they were intended for? Any leaks?

Best fit and performance we have had, compared with Pampers, Huggies and Tescos own brand. My baby has been on the move since 7 months and in this time the Aldis nappies have not leaked once, at any time of the day. Pampers, which we use now only when we run out, leak every time there is a dirty nappy, without fail! They do the job as intended.

Q3 What did you think of the nappy packaging? Was it easy or difficult to open? What about the information on the packaging?
Packaging is nice. Nappies are very tightly packed but this is not really a problem. No issues at all with opening. Do not look or feel like a 'value' brand. In fact I think the actual nappies feel more 'expensive' than Pampers do.

Q4 How did you find the wipes to use? Did you notice any difference between the normal and sensitive skin wipes? Did you find you had to use more, less or the same amount of wipes as you usually do?
I really like the wipes, especially as they are so much cheaper for a comparable or superior quality. In the past I have tended to use Pampers Sensitive and now use Aldi Sensitive instead. I have not felt any drop in quality, they are easily on a par.

Q5 Is there anything about the nappies, wipes or packaging that you think could be improved? If so, what?
No

Q6 We've included some info on how much Aldi nappies cost below - do you think that they're good value for money or not? Why? And how about the wipes - do you think they're good value or not?
Excellent value for money for both nappies and wipes, considering how good they are and the price of the competing brands.

Q7 Do you think you'll use the nappies again? What about the wipes? If so, why? If not, why not?
Yes, I intend to continue using both.

Q8 If it came up in conversation, do you think you'd recommend Aldi nappies to other parents of children or babies in nappies? If so, why? If not, why not? And would you recommend the wipes?
Yes for both. I have already recommended them to several people.

kittycat234 · 22/11/2011 17:02

My son is 2 and a half and was using the size 5 nappies.

Q1 What was your overall impression of Aldi nappies? Did they fit your baby/child? How did they feel?
I was pleasantly surprised, they fit my son well, kept him dry and felt relatively comfortable (as much as disposible nappies go)

Q2 How did they compare with other nappies you've used? Did they do the job they were intended for? Any leaks?
They were a wee bit better quality than other supermarket brands I have used in the past. I have had no leaks and no nappy rash etc complaints

Q3 What did you think of the nappy packaging? Was it easy or difficult to open? What about the information on the packaging?
It was quite easy to open however would like more recyclable packaging.

Q4 How did you find the wipes to use? Did you notice any difference between the normal and sensitive skin wipes? Did you find you had to use more, less or the same amount of wipes as you usually do?
Personally i noticed the difference, I would not use the normal wipes as the fragrance etc irritate my son's skin (he is sensitive at the best of times lol) The more natural the better. I found that I didnt have to use a lot of wipes to get the job done aswell (about on par with the wipes I currently use)

Q5 Is there anything about the nappies, wipes or packaging that you think could be improved? If so, what?
A recyclable option would be good. Apart from that I think they fit their purpose (cost, effectiveness etc) quite well

Q6 We've included some info on how much Aldi nappies cost below - do you think that they're good value for money or not? Why? And how about the wipes - do you think they're good value or not?
I think that the nappies are about on average with cost however I found the quality of the wipes much better than other brands of the same "level"

Q7 Do you think you'll use the nappies again? What about the wipes? If so, why? If not, why not?
I think I would use them again, they are good for the purse strings and as I am expecting another little bundle that can be quite an important factor for me. Although as I mentioned before I prefer the sensitive wipes

Q8 If it came up in conversation, do you think you'd recommend Aldi nappies to other parents of children or babies in nappies? If so, why? If not, why not? And would you recommend the wipes?
I would reccommend them if they were on a budget and were not interested in reusable nappies, you get a good product for the price asked

Zuzi · 22/11/2011 19:58

Q1 What was your overall impression of Aldi nappies? Did they fit your baby/child? How did they feel?
Never used these before, I was quite impressed. They fitted my 2 year old perfect. They felt nice and comfortable. We really liked the design on the nappies. My little girl loved the animals and she even asked for her nappy to be changed!

Q2 How did they compare with other nappies you've used? Did they do the job they were intended for? Any leaks?
They compare with the nappies we use (pampers and huggies), we have had no leaks or other problems. I was actually very pleasanty surprised how nice the nappies were.

Q3 What did you think of the nappy packaging? Was it easy or difficult to open? What about the information on the packaging?
The packaging is appropriate, easy to open, information easy to find / understand.

Q4 How did you find the wipes to use? Did you notice any difference between the normal and sensitive skin wipes? Did you find you had to use more, less or the same amount of wipes as you usually do?
We tried the scented and unscented wipes. We found the scented too strong as we are used to perfume free wipes. Couldn't finish the packet due to the smell being too strong. Also, after opening, we found the the first wipe dries out too quickly. I think we used the same number of wipes as we usually do.

Q5 Is there anything about the nappies, wipes or packaging that you think could be improved? If so, what?
Not sure, I think you got it right.

Q6 We've included some info on how much Aldi nappies cost below - do you think that they're good value for money or not? Why? And how about the wipes - do you think they're good value or not?
At £4.99 for 48 nappies, this is an excellent value for very good quality nappies. The same applies to wipes, very good price.

Q7 Do you think you'll use the nappies again? What about the wipes? If so, why? If not, why not?
I would definitely used the nappies / wipes again if there was a store I would frequent near by. I don't usually shop at Aldi, as I do my main shopping online. Don't even know where my nearest store is. Sorry.

Q8 If it came up in conversation, do you think you'd recommend Aldi nappies to other parents of children or babies in nappies? If so, why? If not, why not? And would you recommend the wipes?
I would definitely recommend the nappies / wipes to other parents. Because of their quality and very good value for money.
