We've been asked by The Lawn Tennis Association, the governing body for tennis, to help promote its allplay campaign that is helping more people play tennis. We are looking to find 5 Mumsnetters and their families to take on the Mumsnet allplay challenge.

This involves you having tennis lessons and your family playing tennis together, at local courts, once a week over a four week period and adding feedback on Mumsnet.

Did you know that there are over 4,600 places to play tennis across the country? To find one close to you visit www.allplaytennis.com

If you are selected to take part you will receive:

A racket
Trainers
An allplay Tshirt
5 Tennis lessons - for you only - to be organised direct with the venue at your convenience
4 x 2 hour family court time - this can be flexible
£100 voucher for a store of your choice when you have added all the feedback
and 3 additional rackets for your family

If selected you will need to add feedback twice a week (once after lesson and once after family playing sessions) for the four week period.

The challenge will start w/c 3 October so please only apply if you are going to be around then (and for the next 4 weeks)

Who are we looking for....
We're looking for mums with at least one child (old enough to play). You need to be in the UK and have a tennis court near you that you?d be happy to play on. You don't need any tennis playing experience, though you must be interested in learning to play and getting fit.

If you want to be 'IN' (gettit?!) please sign up here

If you are selected we will email you - we'd then need to collect information from you on: your shoe size, clothing size, height and details of who would want three additional rackets (age and level of tennis). Your details will be sent to the LTA who would send you the equipment and will work with you to confirm details of your coach/ location of lessons

Best of luck

Apparently the stuff is on it's way....some coaches may be waiting for the goods?

munstersmum · 05/10/2011 20:09

My message said kit would arrive by Fri. Not heard from coach yet.

LemonDifficult · 05/10/2011 20:11

OK, lovely MiL/fab friend lined up to do childcare, so it looks like I'm coming to HoP too! Just got to hear back from Lucy N to make final arrangement. DH having his suit dry cleaned tomorrow.... wheeeeeeee!

I am meeting my coach today for a coffee so we can discuss what l would like to achieve in my lessons, feel really sorry for him as I am a total novice!

munstersmum · 07/10/2011 10:28

Going I am beginner too unless swingball counts. Sounds very civilised to have chat over coffee first - enjoy!

going · 07/10/2011 13:29

munstersmum Glad to hear you are a beginner too!

I met my coach and feel so lucky! He is really enthauiastic and has organised a few different things for us to do. As well as private lesson for me he will teach the whole family as a group, me and ds are going to try toddler tennis and I'm going to have a go at cardio tennis. I really do feel excitied about all the new things I'm going to try!

ThePosieParker · 08/10/2011 09:03

Wowee. Well I had my first lesson and could hit the ball!! The coach was lovely, I'm seriously tempted to keep this going waaaaaay past these free lessons....

Just got my kit, Nike shoes, rackets are super, feeling very very lucky this morning.

LemonDifficult · 08/10/2011 09:34

Package arrived! Oh wow, we're all so excited. DS2's racquet is very dinky. Even DH - who was gobsmacked I'd signed him up for sport - is strutting around with his racquet slung over his shoulder. DSs are wearing theirs over their pjs for breakfast.

Can't wait to play.

going · 08/10/2011 10:00

Mine arrived too, my kids are playing sock tennis!

Thank you!

ThePosieParker · 08/10/2011 10:05

delighted that my pc has auto corrected racquet......

ThePosieParker · 08/10/2011 10:06

racket.....now I'm not sure.

munstersmum · 10/10/2011 14:38

Package made it today! Smile

LemonDifficult · 10/10/2011 18:31

So excited about HoP trip. Which part of the UK are you coming from? I'm travelling down from Edinburgh.

PosiePetrifyingParker · 10/10/2011 19:58

I'm coming across from Bristol.

munstersmum · 11/10/2011 17:10

We're the Yorkshire element.

going · 11/10/2011 20:00

I can no longer make it tomorrow as DH volunteered to work 4am - 12pm this week and is too tired - he's already in bed so wouldn't cope with a trip to London tomorrow! I hope you all have a fab time!

munstersmum · 11/10/2011 22:38

Going errr come without him? I'm bringing a non-tennis friend as DH working. Bet they'll let you do a last minute --upgrade- swap.

PosieIsSaggySacForLemaAndPigS · 12/10/2011 09:25

I'm coming alone as I've bought my tickets. My friend let me down last minute, really pissed off.

PosieIsSaggySacForLemaAndPigS · 12/10/2011 12:20

I will be wearing a black dress with red flower and a grey coat, if you see me say hello!!

AnnMumsnet · 12/10/2011 16:07

Hope those of you who are off to London have a great time!

Wow, amazing. I met Carrie!

munstersmum · 13/10/2011 09:32

We had a brilliant time. The LTA staff, especially Richard, made sure we felt welcome. Greg Rusedski was absolutely lovely. Got to admit the venue was pretty special. Thank you!

PosieIsSaggySacForLemaAndPigS · 13/10/2011 09:52

Have to agree that Richard and Simon made me feel very welcome....think I may have been a bit tipsy! All in all a fabulous evening, Greg, The Speaker, Carrie, other Mners fantastic.

LemonDifficult · 13/10/2011 21:36

It was a brilliant evening - thank you, thank you to everyone! Lovely people and what an amazing place. We had a really good time.

LemonDifficult · 13/10/2011 21:38

And, yes, they were very generous on the wine... [slightly sore head emoticon]

Posie, I wish I'd seen you're post before yesterday so I'd have known earlier on who you were. DH had guessed you were a glam MP!
