This thread is for the MNers who have tested Dettol's No-Touch Hand Wash System. All testers who add their feedback on this thread will be entered into a prize draw where one winner will get a £250 Love2Shop voucher Grin. Dettol are also interested in what your child(ren) think of the system so please ask them for their feedback and add it to your post - please include their age with their thoughts.

Below are some questions to get you started. We know that views on germs, hand cleanliness and washing will vary from person to person so if there are any questions you don't have an opinion about, you don't have to answer them. Please feel free to add your own comments as well.

  1. Overall, how did you find the Dettol No-Touch Hand Wash system to use? What did you like best about it / did you enjoy using it)? What didn't you like, and why?
  1. What did your child(ren) think of the hand wash system? What did they like/dislike?
  1. Did having the system make your child(ren) wash their hands more regularly and encourage more healthy habits, giving you peace of mind? If so, why? If not, why not?
  1. Similarly, do you think you washed your hands any more often, more thoroughly or more willingly as a result of having the system? If so, when did you find yourself doing this when you might not have done before - eg cooking, cleaning, gardening?
  1. Where did you put your two hand wash systems? Did they fit well where you put them or not? Were they easy or difficult to set up and use? Did you prefer the white or stainless steel finish?
  1. If you were previously concerned about (or at least aware of) germs in your home, do you think that having the system has reassured you or not? Why?
  1. What did you think of the antibacterial hand soap? Did you like the fragrance of it or not? How does it compare with other hand washes? Which fragrance did you like best?

1.Overall, how did you find the Dettol No-Touch Hand Wash system to use? What did you like best about it / did you enjoy using it)? What didn't you like, and why?

We've enjoyed having the no-touch hand wash system. We like the no touch idea - have definately found it handy when cooking/touching raw meat to access the soap without having to press a dispenser. Children have loved it and need no encouragement to wash their hands. The system is very easy to set up and use. The soap smells lovely.

What I didn't like: it is quite large and does look cumbersome on the side of my bathroom basin compared to my much more chic wall mounted frosted glass soap dispenser BUT it is much more practical than my dispenser as the children can reach it and operate it themselves ( a child previously knocked my glass one off the wall and it had to be replaced at a cost of £18 - I got the glass one pre children and its not a practical arrnagement now I have little ones) so its much more practical for childrens usage - this meant that they were more independent in the bathroom and needed less supervision as they can now wash their hands by themselves.

It came in a lot of non-recyclable packaging so not very environmentally friendly - especially as batteries cannot be recharged.

In the kitchn, whenever I move it to wipe around the sink - it squirts soap onto me - I need to remember to switch it off but then I would be switching it on and off all the time when cooking which means the 'no-touch' element would not be applicable.

The refills are quite expensive at £2.99 each

  1. What did your child(ren) think of the hand wash system? What did they like/dislike?

They love it. 'Its magic mummy', 'look mummy I can wash my hands all by myself'. They had a friend to play and took them up to the bathroom 'to show them how to work the magic soap'. The problem is, they love it too much often putting their hands under 2 or 3 times - I guess the solution is to grab it and switch it off after they have one squirt but that's quite tricky to do and defeats the object of them doing independent hand washing. As they used it so much, the one in the bathroom was finished within one week, so I moved the one I had in the kitchen up to the bathroom. There is nothing that they dislike about it, a 100% success.

  1. Did having the system make your child(ren) wash their hands more regularly and encourage more healthy habits, giving you peace of mind? If so, why? If not, why not?

yes, definitely happier to wash hands - see above they have actually gone over the top in dosage of soap - that may wear off with novelty factor

  1. Similarly, do you think you washed your hands any more often, more thoroughly or more willingly as a result of having the system? If so, when did you find yourself doing this when you might not have done before - eg cooking, cleaning, gardening?

When cooking - washed my hands more in between tasks with the no touch system

  1. Where did you put your two hand wash systems? Did they fit well where you put them or not? Were they easy or difficult to set up and use? Did you prefer the white or stainless steel finish?

They were easy to set up. I put the white one in the bathroom and the stainless steel one by the sink. Then when the children had used all the soap in the white one, I moved the stainless steel one from the kitchen. Its quite big for the side of the basin and looks not very attractive. I prefer the stainless steel for kitchen and white for bathroom, would prefer one in a different shade to match my bathroom or, for example, in the shape of a nice stone (like some air fresheners) or similar - the white one with grey bit sticking out looks like something from a hospital - its functional but certainly not attractive.

  1. If you were previously concerned about (or at least aware of) germs in your home, do you think that having the system has reassured you or not? Why?

i was not particularly concerned before as we do make an effort to be clean and hygenic, however with the system and all the keeness on handwashing, I am even less concerned about germs.

  1. What did you think of the antibacterial hand soap? Did you like the fragrance of it or not? How does it compare with other hand washes? Which fragrance did you like best?

I like the cucumber smell the best - pleasant and refreshing. I normally use carex and this smells nicer and is a nicer colour than the medicinal blue.

  1. Overall, do you think that having the hand wash system has made life (at least a bit) easier or not? And why?

yes as my children can wash hands independently and need less bathroom supervision - also I know that they are definiately washing their hands as they love the system so much!

  1. If it came up in conversation, do you think you would recommend the Dettol No-Touch Hand Wash System to your friends with children? If so, why? If not, why not?

Yes, I would recommend it as a great way of encouraging children to wash their hands however the price is a barrier. If the starter set is £10 and then the refills £2.99 (bearing in mind we got through a whole one in a week) plus batteries - it is an expensive way of washing hands.

Thanks for letting us do the trial - on balance we are going to get a refill for the bathroom one.

  1. I found it very easy to set up and use.
  1. Children loved it, apart from being told off for using up huge amounts of soap in a couple of days?
  1. They washed their hands a lot!
  1. I don't think my hand washing habits have changed.
  1. I put the white one in the downstairs toilet and the stainless steel one in the kitchen.
  1. I am aware of germs but take a fairly casual approach it has to be said. System hasn't changed my feelings.
  1. I liked the cucumber one best.
  1. It made life easier because I didn't have to nag the children to wash their hands! I tackled the tap touching issue, especially when I'd been cutting up raw meat, by putting a bit of paper towel over the tap before I started, then I could use that to turn it on then throw it away when finished.
  1. I probably would recommend it to certain friends, although I imagine it might get quite expensive.

  1. Overall, how did you find the Dettol No-Touch Hand Wash system to use? What did you like best about it / did you enjoy using it)? What didn't you like, and why?

I found the system very convenient to use, once you've got used to the timing of the soap dispensing. Took a while to remember to only move it holding the top of the unit, so ended up accidentally setting it off quite a bit.

  1. What did your child(ren) think of the hand wash system? What did they like/dislike?

My 2yr old loved it, especially when it malfunctioned and dispensed loads of soap all over the sink before I could remember where the off button was (once I wiped the sensor it was ok).

  1. Did having the system make your child(ren) wash their hands more regularly and encourage more healthy habits, giving you peace of mind? If so, why? If not, why not?

Definitely encouraged hand washing, he was actually asking to wash his hands, and I even managed to distract him from tantrums by saying 'lets wash our hands!'

  1. Similarly, do you think you washed your hands any more often, more thoroughly or more willingly as a result of having the system? If so, when did you find yourself doing this when you might not have done before - eg cooking, cleaning, gardening?

I don't think I washed any more often but did find it more convenient

  1. Where did you put your two hand wash systems? Did they fit well where you put them or not? Were they easy or difficult to set up and use? Did you prefer the white or stainless steel finish?

I put one in the bathroom and one in the kitchen. The one in the kitchen didn't fit very well, being too wide for the gap behind the sink. They were easy to set up and use. I preferred the white finish

  1. If you were previously concerned about (or at least aware of) germs in your home, do you think that having the system has reassured you or not? Why?

Not particularly reassured as I usually use an antibacterial soap anyway and think the level of hygiene was ok, this just made it more convenient

  1. What did you think of the antibacterial hand soap? Did you like the fragrance of it or not? How does it compare with other hand washes? Which fragrance did you like best?

I liked both of the fragrances equally. As a soap it compares well with others, but the price of the refills seems unjustified

  1. Overall, do you think that having the hand wash system has made life (at least a bit) easier or not? And why?

It has made life easier by making my son more amenable to handwashing

  1. If it came up in conversation, do you think you would recommend the Dettol No-Touch Hand Wash System to your friends with children? If so, why? If not, why not?

I would recommend it, as long as I can find a way to refill the soap cartridge, most people I know wouldn't spend £3 on one bottle of handwash

  1. Overall, how did you find the Dettol No-Touch Hand Wash system to use? What did you like best about it / did you enjoy using it)? What didn't you like, and why?

Very easy to use and put together. Liked the ease of dispense but found that it could be quite sensitive which wasted a lot of the handwash

2. What did your child(ren) think of the hand wash system? What did they like/dislike?

No complaints from them at all, they were overjoyed to be trying it out and now want to be buying refills.

  1. Did having the system make your child(ren) wash their hands more regularly and encourage more healthy habits, giving you peace of mind? If so, why? If not, why not?

Yes one of my children has an Autistic spectrum disorder and needs support with handwashing and finds some pumps difficult to use on his own. He has got on so well with this and is washing his hands on his own a lot more.

4. Similarly, do you think you washed your hands any more often, more thoroughly or more willingly as a result of having the system? If so, when did you find yourself doing this when you might not have done before - eg cooking, cleaning, gardening?

I am a keen handwasher anyway so probably haven't used the system any more often.

  1. Where did you put your two hand wash systems? Did they fit well where you put them or not? Were they easy or difficult to set up and use? Did you prefer the white or stainless steel finish?

One in the kitchen and one in the bathroom. Preferred the white finish. Would like a slimmer design to be available as we haven't got a lot of bathroom space.

6. If you were previously concerned about (or at least aware of) germs in your home, do you think that having the system has reassured you or not? Why?

From the childrens perspective it is reassuring to know that they are keen to being using the system and are washing their hands more often.

7. What did you think of the antibacterial hand soap? Did you like the fragrance of it or not? How does it compare with other hand washes? Which fragrance did you like best?

My partner and myself have both suffered dry hands in the past from some handwashes but this one hasnt caused any problems. We all liked the cucumber fragrance the best but would like some more choice of fragrances.

  1. Overall, do you think that having the hand wash system has made life (at least a bit) easier or not? And why?

Yes the childrens hand washing enthusiasm alone makes it a worthwhile purchase.

9. If it came up in conversation, do you think you would recommend the Dettol No-Touch Hand Wash System to your friends with children? If so, why? If not, why not?

I have already recommended it and bought refills, it is a definate must try for all families.

  1. Overall, how did you find the Dettol No-Touch Hand Wash system to use? What did you like best about it / did you enjoy using it)? What didn't you like, and why?

It was a nice gadget to have. The silver one had batteries pre installed wihich made it very easy as I was a little wary of breaking the door on the battery compartment of the white one.
It was a pleasure to use and made cooking in the kitchen easier- however it would only really help elimate germs if automatic taps were installed

  1. What did your child(ren) think of the hand wash system? What did they like/dislike?

My son thought it would be fun to try and use it on his toothbrush
Stepdaughter liked the smell and stepson sneaked to wash his hands in upstairs bathroom a few times which is very rare!

  1. Did having the system make your child(ren) wash their hands more regularly and encourage more healthy habits, giving you peace of mind? If so, why? If not, why not?

Not really apart from inital curiousity. Had I been able to fit it in downstairs toilet then yes I thinkit would have done.

  1. Similarly, do you think you washed your hands any more often, more thoroughly or more willingly as a result of having the system? If so, when did you find yourself doing this when you might not have done before - eg cooking, cleaning, gardening?

I didnt wash my hands any more or less.

  1. Where did you put your two hand wash systems? Did they fit well where you put them or not? Were they easy or difficult to set up and use? Did you prefer the white or stainless steel finish?

I had no preference to the finish- both would look acceptable in my interior.
I couldnt fit it in downstairs toilet as only a small sink which is disappointing as I feel this is where it would have been best located as this is where children go toilet the most/ guests use
Therefore it was fitted in upstairs bathroom- probably only used by my son and partner and myself- although stepson made some trips up to use handwash!

I fitted the second one in kitchen windowstill which only adults and stepson could access.

  1. If you were previously concerned about (or at least aware of) germs in your home, do you think that having the system has reassured you or not? Why?

No we have good habits but arent OTT about worrying.

  1. What did you think of the antibacterial hand soap? Did you like the fragrance of it or not? How does it compare with other hand washes? Which fragrance did you like best?

My DP hated the cucumber one but said the aloe was okay. I liked both. Stepdaughter commented on smell of aloe one saying it was nice. Boys didnt care.

  1. Overall, do you think that having the hand wash system has made life (at least a bit) easier or not? And why?

A little easier yes especially when cooking meats etc but again still doesnt negate the problem of taps.

  1. If it came up in conversation, do you think you would recommend the Dettol No-Touch Hand Wash System to your friends with children? If so, why? If not, why not?

Yes I would- It think if placed in main toilet it would encourage hand washing, My youngest finds a pump difficult to use.

Birnamwood · 01/07/2011 00:15
  1. Overall I think this is a useful gadget (and a bit of a novelty) to have in the home, especially in the kitchen. I like the fact you don't have to touch the dispenser when you need to wash really mucky hands. I didn't like the packaging it came in - it was a bugger to get into and you run the risk of slicing your arm off in the sharp bits :) Possibly putting it in a simple, recyclable cardboard box would be easier? I liked the fact that the batteries came with it.

2.Ds (2) is potty training at the moment and he thought the gadget was great and the novelty still hasn't worn off after 2 weeks but I feel that it dispenses too much soap, especially for little hands.

3.I don't think it made ds wash his hands more frequently, but it certainly made for less moaning at handwashing time as it was more enjoyable for him.

4.I don't think I washed my hands more than usual than when using my ususal pump or bar of soap.

5.I put one in the downstairs loo (white) and one in the kitchen (ss). Set up was really simple and the instructions were clear. Once I'd found the right places for them to go without accidentally setting them off (and also remembered to use the on/off button when cleaning) I found them no trouble at all. I like the fact that they don't dribble and leave a mess and are cleaner than having a bar of soap on the side of the sink.

  1. No. We generally have good hygiene standards but are not ott. A few germs enable a healthy immune system.

7.Both fragrances are nice. But my hands have dried out a bit since I have started using them, I think this could be due to the amount of soap dispensed rather than the formula.

8.It has certainly made life easier in the kitchen. But I think to make life easier in the bathroom, maybe a no wash foam dispenser (as a previous poster has mentioned) would be better for ds and as I have another one on the way in 6 wks it would be quicker and more useful to use after a nappy change/in the 3.6 seconds you usually get to go to the loo before someone is demamding something from you.

  1. I probably would recommend this to a friend but I feel the price of the unit and the refills are quite expensive. And tbh, when these bottles are empty, if I can't find a way to refill them they will probably end up in the back of the cupboard and the batteries will be in one of the toys :) (you did want honest feeback!) Thank you for sending me these to test.

1. Overall, how did you find the Dettol No-Touch Hand Wash system to use? What did you like best about it / did you enjoy using it)? What didn't you like, and why?

It was OK but can't get really excited about it. Not particularly nice to look at, fun novelty value for the kids but didn't like the soap it dispensed, which was overly sticky and difficult to wash off, particularly for the children. The non-cucumber soap in particular had a very strong smell that lingered around whoever had washed their hands in it that smelt of cheap washing powder.

2. What did your child(ren) think of the hand wash system? What did they like/dislike?

They liked it. Unfortunately this meant they used it over and over to see it work so hopefully this novelty will wear off and once they are used to it they would only use it once each time they needed to! However they were very quick to work out how it was used.

3. Did having the system make your child(ren) wash their hands more regularly and encourage more healthy habits, giving you peace of mind? If so, why? If not, why not?

They are already pretty good at hand washing so whilst they liked using it they also like using the ordinary hand wash soap pumps. The amount pumped out is a lot for little hands so if anything it gave me more worries if they used it as they didn't really wash it off properly (particularly if using more than one pump dose given the novelty!) but even the right amount was tricky for them and then the taps and towels ended up with lots of slimy soap residue on them.

4. Similarly, do you think you washed your hands any more often, more thoroughly or more willingly as a result of having the system? If so, when did you find yourself doing this when you might not have done before - eg cooking, cleaning, gardening?

If I need to wash my hands I need to wash my hands - having an automatic pump dispenser isn't going to change that or make me do it more than I do already. And even if the pump dispenses automatically I don't yet have taps that turn on & off automatically, in fact they are ones that I can't even knock with my elbows so the taps still have all the germs etc on that you are touting that you miss when you use this product.

Plus using the antibacterial one in particular made my hands itchy and dry if I used it more than a couple of times a day so would be less likely to use it if anything.

5. Where did you put your two hand wash systems? Did they fit well where you put them or not? Were they easy or difficult to set up and use? Did you prefer the white or stainless steel finish?

White has gone in the children's bathroom, stainless steel in the downstairs loo. have put them on the sink but it's not completely flat (integrated dips for soap) so not completely steady.

Was surprised that more thought hadn't gone into the design of the bottom of the bottle that is on display at the top of the dispenser when in use - you just see the ugly bottle and bit of the design that is aimed at being the right way up and shouting 'buy me' from the shop shelf. Should have been possible to create a design that worked well whether it was on the shelf or in the dispenser - you know that that bottle has to be used in it and yet it seems very much that nobody has considered the two as a finished unit when in use.

Relatively easy to set up, was surprised that they both needed slightly different set up (one had batteries already in, the other didn't for example. And it wasn't clear which was on and which was off - You marked the on/off switch in the blurb, but until the batteries went in and something happened (or not) I wasn't sure if they were automatically going to be switched on or off. I know that the I and O are supposed to be international standard symbols but I can think of a couple of logical explanations for each one to be both on and off so can't even work it out from first principles!

Probably preferred the white finish as the stainless steel finish wasn't actually stainless steel but looked like wannabe steel but actually cheap silvery plastic. At least the white one is honest about being plastic!

6. If you were previously concerned about (or at least aware of) germs in your home, do you think that having the system has reassured you or not? Why?

Didn't reassure me as I am more worried about the germs being transferred to the taps that then get touched once you have washed your hands thereby transferring the germs back to you.

I also worry about the increase in germs as a result of hands (especially kids) not washing the soap off properly and whether or not this means they have left germs on their hands and/or the residue transfers to taps, towels, clothing, toys etc and then makes those things dirty and ultimately more germy and dirty as a result.

And of course I worry about germs becoming stronger and more difficult to kill with an overuse of antibacterial products when really not necessary. There aren't many occasions that I wash my hands that I feel I really need an antibacterial soap.

7. What did you think of the antibacterial hand soap? Did you like the fragrance of it or not? How does it compare with other hand washes? Which fragrance did you like best?

Horrid - smells like very concentrated, very cheap washing powder for clothes. Smell lingers around after using it for quite a while and is unpleasant. Also made my hands itch and crack. Cucumber one didn't smell too bad but still was sticky and difficult to wash off like the antibac one. And also made my hands itchy and cracked if I used it too much. And seemed to get used up very quickly.

Didn't compare well with my favourite (any Korres handwash) which is just for special occasions or my regular - carex gentle handwash (assorted fragrances). I use the carex one as my regular one (despite not liking the fact that it is antibacterial) as it is the only one everyday one I have found in high street shops that doesn't make my hands dry, cracked and itchy.

8. Overall, do you think that having the hand wash system has made life (at least a bit) easier or not? And why?

It over-complicates a problem and doesn't really come up with the right solution - if you are that worried about dirty soap pump tops then you would also be worried about dirty taps which this does nothing to help.

It does help little ones who are sometimes prone to battling and losing against a standard soap pump bottle, particularly when the surface it has to sit on isn't flat.

I'd prefer to be able to set the dose size to be more relevant to the kids - and me do a double pump than them to pump out an adult dose each time.

9. If it came up in conversation, do you think you would recommend the Dettol No-Touch Hand Wash System to your friends with children? If so, why? If not, why not?

Probably not for the reasons given above in Q8. Plus it would be expensive to run in terms of soap and increased hand cream needed to counteract the drying effects on the skin.

It's not particularly nice to look at although you can see that somebody has tried to make it look nice and failed (which is almost worse that looking bad to start with). However if it is aimed at kids then why not make a kids version - would probably make it look better than it currently is and even if it didn't go perfectly in a bathroom/kitchen setting it would look better overall as it would look like a nice extra added in for the kids rather than something trying and failing to be nice design in the bathroom. And if you were to design a kids version you could look at the design of the bottle and dispenser together plus how the graphics work on the bottle both on the shelf and in the dispenser.

  1. Overall, how did you find the Dettol No-Touch Hand Wash system to use? What did you like best about it / did you enjoy using it)? What didn't you like, and why?
Easy to use. It is convenient although probably a bit too much soap dispensed. Seems like a waste. It was quite fun/novel/different but we did get laughed at for having one- although admittedly all family members have had a shot.
  1. What did your child(ren) think of the hand wash system? What did they like/dislike?
Didn't seem overly interested to be honest. Just accepted that it was there- still doesn't let us wash her grubby mitts (19m/o)
  1. Did having the system make your child(ren) wash their hands more regularly and encourage more healthy habits, giving you peace of mind? If so, why? If not, why not?
No, she's 19 m/o. She wasn't too impressed by the whole experience
  1. Similarly, do you think you washed your hands any more often, more thoroughly or more willingly as a result of having the system? If so, when did you find yourself doing this when you might not have done before - eg cooking, cleaning, gardening?
Hand were probably done a bit more thoroughly as instead of doing a 'job lot' of work I would wash my hands in between tasks. This was mostly when cleaning/gardening
  1. Where did you put your two hand wash systems? Did they fit well where you put them or not? Were they easy or difficult to set up and use? Did you prefer the white or stainless steel finish?
Bathroom and kitchen. Kitchen was fine and looked ok but it seemed a bit out of place in the bathroom. Stainless steel finish preferred- seems a bit plusher and not more nasty white plastic appliances.
  1. If you were previously concerned about (or at least aware of) germs in your home, do you think that having the system has reassured you or not? Why?
Reassured is a bit too strong. But my partner was a bit happier over being able to cook meat or veg without touching anything when having to wash hands. It resolved a niggle.
  1. What did you think of the antibacterial hand soap? Did you like the fragrance of it or not? How does it compare with other hand washes? Which fragrance did you like best?
Fragrance was fine, similar to other liquid soaps. I did find that my hands got a bit dry but I'm not sure if it's down to overwashing. We prefered the cucumber one.
  1. Overall, do you think that having the hand wash system has made life (at least a bit) easier or not? And why?
It has. It's resolved a niggle over food contamination etc. Not a huge thing but a resolution nonetheless.
  1. If it came up in conversation, do you think you would recommend the Dettol No-Touch Hand Wash System to your friends with children? If so, why? If not, why not?
If it's something that they're paranoid about (germs) then I would recommend it to them but I'd advise that it comes at a price! But I wouldn't just go and start spouting off about it as most people don't have the same niggles about germs as my dh does

  1. Overall, how did you find the Dettol No-Touch Hand Wash system to use? What did you like best about it / did you enjoy using it)? What didn't you like, and why? The system was easy to set up (once we'd got it out of the packaging), clear instructions and worked fine. It is quite stable and didn't go off accidentally as I thought it might. I don't like the soap cylinder sticking out the top - I think it would have been better to have been enclosed.
  1. What did your child(ren) think of the hand wash system? What did they like/dislike? My five year old loved the hand wash system. She had seen it advertised and had wanted me to buy one but I had previously resisted on the price. She loved the fact that you didn't have to press the top, the soap just comes out.
  1. Did having the system make your child(ren) wash their hands more regularly and encourage more healthy habits, giving you peace of mind? If so, why? If not, why not? I think my daughter did wash her hands more often, I certainly didn't have to remind her as often. In the first few days she was washing them much more than usual but I think that was the novelty of having a new "toy" - we have used a lot of soap in just a week so the issue of expensive refills may be an issue
  1. Similarly, do you think you washed your hands any more often, more thoroughly or more willingly as a result of having the system? If so, when did you find yourself doing this when you might not have done before - eg cooking, cleaning, gardening? I did not wash my hands any more often, only when needed
  1. Where did you put your two hand wash systems? Did they fit well where you put them or not? Were they easy or difficult to set up and use? Did you prefer the white or stainless steel finish? We put the stainless steel one in the kitchen to match appliances etc, and the white one in the bathroom. It was too big to fit on the cloakroom sink. I prefer the stainless steel finish but would prefer it more if the soap container was fully enclosed
  1. If you were previously concerned about (or at least aware of) germs in your home, do you think that having the system has reassured you or not? Why? I was not overly concerned about germs in our home, I think you can be over zealous in this respect. The system has not changed my opinion on this respect. You still need to turn on taps to wash your hands so any germs in theory would be on the taps even if you're not touching a soap pump
  1. What did you think of the antibacterial hand soap? Did you like the fragrance of it or not? How does it compare with other hand washes? Which fragrance did you like best? The antibacterial soap fragrance was pleasant, my daughter liked it the best, my husband said it reminded him of the cucumber dip from the indian restaurant! I did think it made my hands more dry than other hand washes
  1. Overall, do you think that having the hand wash system has made life (at least a bit) easier or not? And why? It's a great gadget but I don't think it's made my life any easier, the issue of pressing down on a soap pump has never ranked high in my list of life's worries
  1. If it came up in conversation, do you think you would recommend the Dettol No-Touch Hand Wash System to your friends with children? If so, why? If not, why not? If it was on special offer I would recommend it but the cost of refills etc may be prohibitive

  1. Overall it's an OK system, loved the smell of both the soaps, don't like the size of the unit which is a fraction too large for anything other than a normal full-size sink. Both sons liked using it - aged 4 and 7.
  1. They both liked it and the novelty of it lasted for about a week, it certainly encouraged my youngest son to wash his hands more, had little impact beyond the 1st week though.
  1. Initially my 4 year old washed his hands every chance he got, it made no difference to my 7 year old, who thought it was cool but it didn't make him wash his hands any more than usual - he still needed reminding! I think it was the novelty value of it and like most things they became used to it very quickly and the urge to wash their hands disappeared.
  1. Since I put one of the units in the kitchen I have definitely used soap more than I would have simply because it is there and is good for washing hands in between handling meat and other foods.
  1. I put one in the kitchen and the other in the downstairs loo, although the dispensing unit is too large really for the small sink in the loo, it's permanently threatening to fall off into the sink. I prefer the white unit for the bathroom, and I wouldn't describe the silver unit as stainless steel at all - it bears no resemblance to the shiny stainless steel in my bathroom or kitchen - I think that description is misleading so I would have preferred a shiny silver finish. They were easy to set up although one of the soaps definitely has a fault because it constantly drips regardless of which unit it is placed in.
  1. I find it reassuring to have one in the kitchen for myself and food hygiene, not so regards the bathroom and my 2 sons - they wash their hands about as eagerly and frequently as they ever did.
  1. I loved the fragrance of both the soaps although the cucumber soap was not popular with my sons or my husband - they all found it a bit unpleasant. Aloe vera was the firm favourite. The fragrance seems equal to other anti-bac soaps we use, no better or worse but the price of the soap refills is massively overpriced compared to the soap refills I can buy for my usual soap dispensers so we won't be buying the dettol refills beyond this test unless I can find a way to refill them with our usual anti-bac soap. It's particularly annoying because the amount dispensed is double what is needed so the soap barely lasts any time at all.
  1. It's only made my life easier insofar as washing my hands when preparing food, but I could and did live without it. I don't think it's made life any easier for anyone else in our house.
  1. Probably not, mainly because of the expensive refills and the amount that's dispensed each time - wasteful. It may be initially useful for a reluctant hand washer but the novelty would soon wear off. I don't see that the no-touch system has any hygiene advantages because after immediately using any soap you wash your hands anyway! Now, if they could invent a no touch towel they'd be on to a winner :)

  1. Overall, how did you find the Dettol No-Touch Hand Wash system to use? What did you like best about it / did you enjoy using it)? What didn't you like, and why?

I love gadgets so loved it but it uses too much soap at a time wish you could adjust the amount.

  1. What did your child(ren) think of the hand wash system? What did they like/dislike?
The boys (7 and 4) loved it they said it was easy to use
  1. Did having the system make your child(ren) wash their hands more regularly and encourage more healthy habits, giving you peace of mind? If so, why? If not, why not?

The boys are good at hand washing anyway so didn't make any difference

  1. Similarly, do you think you washed your hands any more often, more thoroughly or more willingly as a result of having the system? If so, when did you find yourself doing this when you might not have done before - eg cooking, cleaning, gardening?

i didn't change my hand washing habbits but it was great when needing to wash my hands when cooking raw meat.

  1. Where did you put your two hand wash systems? Did they fit well where you put them or not? Were they easy or difficult to set up and use? Did you prefer the white or stainless steel finish?
I put the white one in the downstairs cloakroom and the steel one in the kitchen. i prefered the steel one. I found them very easy to set up.
  1. If you were previously concerned about (or at least aware of) germs in your home, do you think that having the system has reassured you or not? Why?
Not really because there are still germs on the taps etc so as soon as you touch anything then your hands are covere. Life can never be germ free and some germs in your life are healthy anyway
  1. What did you think of the antibacterial hand soap? Did you like the fragrance of it or not? How does it compare with other hand washes? Which fragrance did you like best?
i liked the cucumber one best
  1. Overall, do you think that having the hand wash system has made life (at least a bit) easier or not? And why?

  1. Whole family liked both units, we liked the idea of scratch and sniff spot on front of pack to check smell of soap. Cucumber was the favourite. very easy to set up and use. Only triggered accidentally twice; once when I moved it without thinking and once whe DS(7yrs) while brushing his teeth, and unable to multi-task, was extolling it's virtues and accidentally waved his toothbrush under it! Liked the 'penguin' shape of dispender but did think it less aesthetically pleasing when soap installed.
  1. 3 Children, DD1 (13) DD2 (10) DS (7), All liked to use it, but biggest success was DS who is grubby, germy little oik and usually has to be nagged to show water to his hands in case he srivels up on contact! He thinks it is best thing since sliced bread and has invited friends round to use it! Now novelty has worn off he is still using it and I consider this a big plus. DS2 said that anything that meant DS didn't touch it was good with her.
  1. Definitely, See above comment for DS, both girls said it made them think about washing front and backs of hands and that they tended to wash more thoroughly. DS2 wants one for herself.
  1. I didn't find I washed them any more often but I did seek out the cucumber version when I was going to wash my hands.
  1. We put one in downstairs cloakroom and one in upstairs bathroom, they sat easily to the side of each sink, split 4:1 in favour of stainless steel colour.
  1. I am certainly happier with my son's hand hygiene, and I like the no-mess system.
  1. The family generally preferred the cucmber smell, thinking the Aloe Vera smelt a bit 'Grandma-ish' (sorry Grandma). We didn't find any problem with either in terms of drying out hands.
  1. Yes it has, most noticeably with my son but also I like the no drips and no mess on the top of the soap dispenser. I would like it more if the bit of the refill that protrudes was less fussy/blended in. (but that's being really picky)
  1. I would definitely recommend it to anyone but especially friends with children from a use and hygiene point of view BUT I do think the refills are very expensive.

TVM for trial.

jepa · 04/07/2011 10:08
  1. Its really easy to use took five seconds to set up. I liked the design which worked well in my minimal kitchen. I am completely paranoid about germs when cooking I've never recovered from being traumatised as a child by Edwina Currie and killer eggs so therefore I really liked the no touch mechanism.
  2. My DD at 8 wasn't that interested but my DS at 6 loved it. Everytime anyone comes to ours he takes them over, shows them and makes them wash their hands ! Tad embarrassing but hey ho
  3. Yes as per above
  4. We all did in the beginning but I think the novelty might wear off
  5. The stainless steel worked really well in my kitchen, I put the white one in the downstairs loo.
I probably wouldn't buy the white one again but would the stainless steel.
  1. Yes definitely, previously I tied myself in knots after chopping chicken and then trying to wash my hands without spreading germs but as I say- bit paranoid !
  2. Really liked the cucumber one not so keen on the other one bit too sweet.
  3. Yes definitely much easier and less stressful
  4. Honestly I can't imagine it would come up in conversation but I think my DS has pretty much convinced all our friends and family. I would continue to buy it and would definitely recommend it

its all gone!! see I said the silly machine gives out too much soap!

  1. Overall, how did you find the Dettol No-Touch Hand Wash system to use? What did you like best about it / did you enjoy using it)? What didn't you like, and why?

System was good DD thinks it's brilliant. Like the hands free made, it easier for DD to use and less mess. Not something I would have bought due to price and refills are expensive.

  1. What did your child(ren) think of the hand wash system? What did they like/dislike?

DD thinks they are great, she's definitely washing her hands more without needing reminded.

  1. Did having the system make your child(ren) wash their hands more regularly and encourage more healthy habits, giving you peace of mind? If so, why? If not, why not?

Yes although whether this keeps up and back to nagging once novelty wears off.

  1. Similarly, do you think you washed your hands any more often, more thoroughly or more willingly as a result of having the system? If so, when did you find yourself doing this when you might not have done before - eg cooking, cleaning, gardening?

No I wash my hands the same.

  1. Where did you put your two hand wash systems? Did they fit well where you put them or not? Were they easy or difficult to set up and use? Did you prefer the white or stainless steel finish?

One in the bathroom one in the downstairs toilet. Liked both no preference.

  1. If you were previously concerned about (or at least aware of) germs in your home, do you think that having the system has reassured you or not? Why?

Not concerned about germs. Soap is soap no matter what it comes in.

  1. What did you think of the antibacterial hand soap? Did you like the fragrance of it or not? How does it compare with other hand washes? Which fragrance did you like best?

Liked both fragrances.

  1. Overall, do you think that having the hand wash system has made life (at least a bit) easier or not? And why?

I think it's made it easier for DD and DP likes the hands free aspect too.

  1. If it came up in conversation, do you think you would recommend the Dettol No-Touch Hand Wash System to your friends with children? If so, why? If not, why not?

I would recommend them but find the price of refills a tad expensive.

Hummymummy · 05/07/2011 12:24

Thanks for letting us take part in the trial.

We have only tried the Aloe Vera one. We didn't use the Cucumber one because we can't stand cucumber in our house, even the smell makes us feel sick! Sorry.

1. Overall, how did you find the Dettol No-Touch Hand Wash system to use? What did you like best about it / did you enjoy using it)? What didn't you like, and why?

We enjoyed using it. It didn't drip and is sturdy which is good.

Think the grey unit can look dirty quickly when splashed in the bathroom (should have used the white one which came with the cucumber version) but it would look OK in the kitchen.

Dispenses a bit too much soap in one go, especially for small hands and I'm worried it won't get washed off properly. Also we are in a very soft water area so only need half the amount anyway.

Concerned about the ongoing cost - refills and batteries.

2. What did your child(ren) think of the hand wash system? What did they like/dislike?

Daughter 7 - likes using it and thinks it is fun. Less inclined to moan when asked to wash her hands.

Daughter 11 - secretly enjoys using it but is a bit more critical. Was concerned at the packaging - less plastic more recycleable card. Thinks it dispenses too much soap in one go. Keeps switching it off to save the batteries (which defeats the object!!) but likes that it can be refilled. Doesn't understand the no touch business because you have to touch the tap anyway!

3. Did having the system make your child(ren) wash their hands more regularly and encourage more healthy habits, giving you peace of mind? If so, why? If not, why not?

Yes they washed their hands with soap - not sure how much of this was the novelty factor. My biggest worry is whether they washed all the soap off afterwards because it dispenses such a large amount. Sorry but I don't think its a habit changing product. You can push many of the soap pumps with your wrist so you don't need to touch them with dirty hands anyway.

4. Similarly, do you think you washed your hands any more often, more thoroughly or more willingly as a result of having the system? If so, when did you find yourself doing this when you might not have done before - eg cooking, cleaning, gardening?

I didn't wash my hands any more but this was partly because we were only using one of the soaps and it was in the girls bathroom. If I need to use soap I would and this product would not alter that decision.

5. Where did you put your two hand wash systems? Did they fit well where you put them or not? Were they easy or difficult to set up and use? Did you prefer the white or stainless steel finish?

The silver one started in the downstairs bathroom (it was a bit big there) but the girls took it up to their bathroom upstairs. It was very big and took up a lot of room near the sink.

Think the white one would look better in a bathroom and the silver in the kitchen.

6. If you were previously concerned about (or at least aware of) germs in your home, do you think that having the system has reassured you or not? Why?

I'm not someone who is very concerned about germs. We follow basic hygiene and are all OK. I beleive using too much anti this and that is affecting our immune systems and just helps to sell products! However, if a novel product encourages the girls to use soap when they should, and without moans and groans, its not such a bad thing.

7. What did you think of the antibacterial hand soap? Did you like the fragrance of it or not? How does it compare with other hand washes? Which fragrance did you like best?

The soap is OK. OK smell and not too drying. Aloe Vera is not my favourite and didn't try the cucumber one (yuk!). Would like a more luxury smelling handwash personally.

8. Overall, do you think that having the hand wash system has made life (at least a bit) easier or not? And why?

A little since there are less moans when asked to wash their hands properly with soap.

9. If it came up in conversation, do you think you would recommend the Dettol No-Touch Hand Wash System to your friends with children? If so, why? If not, why not?

Would say to them what I have said here. Its good fun but uses too much soap and is too big for many areas. However, on the other hand I wouldn't say they shouldn't buy it!

  1. Overall, how did you find the Dettol No-Touch Hand Wash system to use? What did you like best about it / did you enjoy using it)? What didn't you like, and why?

I found it very easy to use. I think it gives too much handwash in one dose though- seemed to take a lot of rinsing to get rid of it.

  1. What did your child(ren) think of the hand wash system? What did they like/dislike?

My 4 year old was entranced by it and likes the whirring noise as it dispenses.

  1. Did having the system make your child(ren) wash their hands more regularly and encourage more healthy habits, giving you peace of mind? If so, why? If not, why not?

Yes- she is in there all the time!

  1. Similarly, do you think you washed your hands any more often, more thoroughly or more willingly as a result of having the system? If so, when did you find yourself doing this when you might not have done before - eg cooking, cleaning, gardening?

Not sure that I washed more often but it did seem easier

  1. Where did you put your two hand wash systems? Did they fit well where you put them or not? Were they easy or difficult to set up and use? Did you prefer the white or stainless steel finish?

I put the white one in the bathroom and the steel one in the kitchen. Neither or them really blended in (we have an elderly sage bathroom and a tatty white kitchen). They seem a bit big for the bathroom really and take up a lot of space. I think I prefer the white finish. They were very easy to set up, although I struggled to open the packaging.

  1. If you were previously concerned about (or at least aware of) germs in your home, do you think that having the system has reassured you or not? Why?

N/A

  1. What did you think of the antibacterial hand soap? Did you like the fragrance of it or not? How does it compare with other hand washes? Which fragrance did you like best?

The soap does leave my hands lovely and soft. I really don't like the smell of the cucumber one at all, although my adult son says he prefers that one. The aloe vera one smells nice. Compares favourably with other handwashes, tho I wouldn't have chosen these particular fragrances so that might not be accurate.

  1. Overall, do you think that having the hand wash system has made life (at least a bit) easier or not? And why?

Yes- it has stopped me having to nag my daughter to wash, and also stopped her melting the soap, as she is wont to do.

  1. If it came up in conversation, do you think you would recommend the Dettol No-Touch Hand Wash System to your friends with children? If so, why? If not, why not?

Yes I would. Like others I thought it was a gimmick when I saw it advertised but it is a handy product for children. The only downside is the cost.

  1. Overall, how did you find the Dettol No-Touch Hand Wash system to use? What did you like best about it / did you enjoy using it)? What didn't you like, and why?

We found the system very easy to set up and use although like others, we did forget to switch it off before we moved it to the bathroom cue lots of giggles and dispensing of soap over the carpet.

As a family we have enjoyed using it, the adults particulalry liked the fact that we are using less soap (my daughter loves to use a few pumps worth of soap normally) and the children liked the look of it, the novelty factor and my son who is interested in gadgets appreciated how it worked.

  1. What did your child(ren) think of the hand wash system? What did they like/dislike?

My children thought the system was brilliant and they particularly liked not having to pump the soap as they normally would. They like the noise whereas I am getting a tired of the whirring noise, perhaps because it reminds me how much I wash my hands! There was nothing they didn't like about it

  1. Did having the system make your child(ren) wash their hands more regularly and encourage more healthy habits, giving you peace of mind? If so, why? If not, why not?

The children loved using the system and showing friends and family how it worked. They do already have good hand-washing habits, so I didn't really notice a differene in that respect.

  1. Similarly, do you think you washed your hands any more often, more thoroughly or more willingly as a result of having the system? If so, when did you find yourself doing this when you might not have done before - eg cooking, cleaning, gardening?

I don't think we really washed our hands more often than before, we used one soap in the family bathroom and one in the kitchen.

  1. Where did you put your two hand wash systems? Did they fit well where you put them or not? Were they easy or difficult to set up and use? Did you prefer the white or stainless steel finish?

We used one system in the family bathroom and one in the kitchen. I thought they fitted in well with the general decor but preferred the stainless steel finish.

  1. If you were previously concerned about (or at least aware of) germs in your home, do you think that having the system has reassured you or not? Why?

I wasn't previously concerned about germs in the home but this ensures that the children wash their hands thoroughly.

  1. What did you think of the antibacterial hand soap? Did you like the fragrance of it or not? How does it compare with other hand washes? Which fragrance did you like best?

We really liked both of the fragrances but the winner is the cucumber as it smelt lovely. I think it compares well with other hand washes.

  1. Overall, do you think that having the hand wash system has made life (at least a bit) easier or not? And why?

I think that it has made things easier in terms of there being no mess underneath the soap dispenser and the children can use it easily.

  1. If it came up in conversation, do you think you would recommend the Dettol No-Touch Hand Wash System to your friends with children? If so, why? If not, why not?

I would and have recommend the no-touch system to others, haivng used it I do think it is a great idea whereas before I thought it was a gimick. However, I cannot understand why the refills are so expensive, 3 times more than I would normally spend on a hand soap. If these were cheaper I wouldn't hesitate in using this all the time.

  1. Overall, how did you find the Dettol No-Touch Hand Wash system to use? What did you like best about it / did you enjoy using it)? What didn't you like, and why?

It was easy to use and I enjoyed giving it a go. I liked the fact that it was a hands free option but found that at times it caused more hassle as it would go off if I reached to get the washing up liquid next to it etc

  1. What did your child(ren) think of the hand wash system? What did they like/dislike?

My children really liked the system and they did wash their hands more as it had a novelty value for them. It made them use a bit more soap too

  1. Did having the system make your child(ren) wash their hands more regularly and encourage more healthy habits, giving you peace of mind? If so, why? If not, why not?

Yes it did encourage us all to wash hands more regularly and allowed the children to do their hands independently.

  1. Similarly, do you think you washed your hands any more often, more thoroughly or more willingly as a result of having the system? If so, when did you find yourself doing this when you might not have done before - eg cooking, cleaning, gardening?

I put one by the kitchen sink and one in our bathroom, where I would normally have a liquid soap, so I don't think it made me wash more. I used more soap though with the Dettol system as the measure was bigger than my normal quick squeeze!

  1. Where did you put your two hand wash systems? Did they fit well where you put them or not? Were they easy or difficult to set up and use? Did you prefer the white or stainless steel finish?

Stainless steel finish was my preference. One in kitchen and one in bathroom. Fit well but at times went off when reaching for other things eg toothbrush

  1. If you were previously concerned about (or at least aware of) germs in your home, do you think that having the system has reassured you or not? Why?

I think the liquid soap I was using was as effective at £1 per bottle.

  1. What did you think of the antibacterial hand soap? Did you like the fragrance of it or not? How does it compare with other hand washes? Which fragrance did you like best?

I liked the cucumber one best as it was really fresh. both fragrances were nice and light.

  1. Overall, do you think that having the hand wash system has made life (at least a bit) easier or not? And why?

Not easier as the system requires me to replace batteries and is more expensive.

  1. If it came up in conversation, do you think you would recommend the Dettol No-Touch Hand Wash System to your friends with children? If so, why? If not, why not?

I don't think I would due to the price. It's a well designed and well presented product but I don't see the need for it when compared to a normal liquid soap. Thanks for letting me try it though

How do you turn off the "germy" tap after rinsing off the handwash?

  1. Overall, how did you find the Dettol No-Touch Hand Wash system to use? What did you like best about it / did you enjoy using it)? What didn't you like, and why?
Very easy to use especially as I had one arm in a cast for 4 weeks. The system made it so much easier to wash my hands without getting it wet.
  1. What did your child(ren) think of the hand wash system? What did they like/dislike?
Loves it - can't wait to wash his hands (although the novelty is wearing off a bit now)
  1. Did having the system make your child(ren) wash their hands more regularly and encourage more healthy habits, giving you peace of mind? If so, why? If not, why not?
Definitely - including visiting children
  1. Similarly, do you think you washed your hands any more often, more thoroughly or more willingly as a result of having the system? If so, when did you find yourself doing this when you might not have done before - eg cooking, cleaning, gardening?
Definitely more often and thouroughly than I might have done whilst I had the cast on.
  1. Where did you put your two hand wash systems? Did they fit well where you put them or not? Were they easy or difficult to set up and use? Did you prefer the white or stainless steel finish?
One in kitchen and one in bathroom. No particular preference for finish. Husband grabbed them from the pack and set them up before I could draw breath so they must have been easy!
  1. If you were previously concerned about (or at least aware of) germs in your home, do you think that having the system has reassured you or not? Why?
I think it has helped son to keep clean when before he was not too bothered.
  1. What did you think of the antibacterial hand soap? Did you like the fragrance of it or not? How does it compare with other hand washes? Which fragrance did you like best?
Smelt like apples rather then cucumber. Nice clean smell, not too overpowering or 'antiseptic' like some. Aloe vera smells of nothing in particular although quite pleasant
  1. Overall, do you think that having the hand wash system has made life (at least a bit) easier or not? And why?
A bit easier. They are a little too ready to dispense soap when you are cleaning them though
  1. If it came up in conversation, do you think you would recommend the Dettol No-Touch Hand Wash System to your friends with children? If so, why? If not, why not?

  1. Overall, how did you find the Dettol No-Touch Hand Wash system to use? What did you like best about it / did you enjoy using it)? What didn't you like, and why?
Like the ease of use . Didn't like the plastic look of the silver dispenser.
  1. What did your child(ren) think of the hand wash system? What did they like/dislike?
Love it! They too are lazy like me so like not having to press anything. Ds thinks there's a little camera in there watching us to see when we need soap.
  1. Did having the system make your child(ren) wash their hands more regularly and encourage more healthy habits, giving you peace of mind? If so, why? If not, why not?
Yes.
  1. Similarly, do you think you washed your hands any more often, more thoroughly or more willingly as a result of having the system? If so, when did you find yourself doing this when you might not have done before - eg cooking, cleaning, gardening?
No, wash my hands just the same.
  1. Where did you put your two hand wash systems? Did they fit well where you put them or not? Were they easy or difficult to set up and use? Did you prefer the white or stainless steel finish?
I only got one!!!! Why??? The rubbish looking stainless steel finish. I've got it in the w/c but won't keep it there due to colour.
  1. If you were previously concerned about (or at least aware of) germs in your home, do you think that having the system has reassured you or not? Why?
Not worried about germs - we've all got them! My concern is to ensure dc's have good hygiene habits - this system does help.
  1. What did you think of the antibacterial hand soap? Did you like the fragrance of it or not? How does it compare with other hand washes? Which fragrance did you like best?
I have the cream soap - doesn't smell of much.
  1. Overall, do you think that having the hand wash system has made life (at least a bit) easier or not? And why?
In the short term, yes. I'll be interested to see how long the dc's enthusiasm lasts.
  1. If it came up in conversation, do you think you would recommend the Dettol No-Touch Hand Wash System to your friends with children? If so, why? If not, why not?
No. Purely due to cost of the refills. I pay around £1 for liquid soap. I'd happily pay a little more for this but not three times as much. Most definitely need to cut costs and then i would happily recommend.

Feedback from MummyTwink copied over from this thread:

  1. Overall, how did you find the Dettol No-Touch Hand Wash system to use? What did you like best about it / did you enjoy using it)? What didn't you like, and why? Fantastic. Easy to use, soap good quality, no germs left on dispenser.
  1. What did your child(ren) think of the hand wash system? What did they like/dislike? They liked the robot/"magic eye" element - and the fact that particularly when they have been in the garden making dens the soap was dispensed in the right amount and it cleaned their hands.
  1. Did having the system make your child(ren) wash their hands more regularly and encourage more healthy habits, giving you peace of mind? If so, why? If not, why not? Yes,absolutely. I have two boys who love the outdoor life and then to come in for meals without washing their hands. The no touch hand wash system caught their imagination and they visited the outside toilet to wash their hands before coming into the kitchen and leaving a trail of mud behind them.
  1. Similarly, do you think you washed your hands any more often, more thoroughly or more willingly as a result of having the system? If so, when did you find yourself doing this when you might not have done before - eg cooking, cleaning, gardening? I found the system really helpful after washing out the bins, or making pastry or cooking with liver, ie when deposits were left on my hands I could wash them without having to touch a dispenser. Probably I did wash my hands slightly more frequently.
  1. Where did you put your two hand wash systems? Did they fit well where you put them or not? Were they easy or difficult to set up and use? Did you prefer the white or stainless steel finish? I placed the silver unit in my kitchen because it matched its colour scheme. The white one I placed in the outside toilet because it suited the colour scheme there - however I wasnot keen on the silver/white combo.
  1. If you were previously concerned about (or at least aware of) germs in your home, do you think that having the system has reassured you or not? Why? I am (and was) aware of the passage of germs in the house. Yes the system did reassure me because of the sensor delivery of soap.
  1. What did you think of the antibacterial hand soap? Did you like the fragrance of it or not? How does it compare with other hand washes? Which fragrance did you like best? We loved both fragrances and did not have a favourite. However we did find the soap drying on the skin. All our family have sensitive skin, apart from a slight dry feeling we had no other side-effects.
  1. Overall, do you think that having the hand wash system has made life (at least a bit) easier or not? And why? YES ABSOLUTELY. The children loved the "magic" element; I loved the fact that the right amount of soap was dispensed so the children did not "pump" double the amount of soap; io love the fact that the dispseners are not covered with paint/mud/clay/pastry/meat juices etc etc and we all have clean germ free hands. - Can you invent something that will also "magically" clean under childrens nails?
  1. If it came up in conversation, do you think you would recommend the Dettol No-Touch Hand Wash System to your friends with children? If so, why? If not, why not? Ye sI would but I would also bear in mind the cost of new soap. Many visitors to the house have said "how fab", but they are expensive.

One in the bathroom and one in the kitchen on the sinks no problems with setting up probably preferred the stainless steel one but the white looks fine aswell.

Washing my youngest baby hands was a struggle as he doesn?t like it and he squirms a lot the system allowed me to have both hands holding him rather than having to dispense soap another way.
