1. Overall, how did you find the Dettol No-Touch Hand Wash system to use? What did you like best about it / did you enjoy using it)? What didn't you like, and why?
I liked the novelty of it. I'm not sure how you can 'enjoy' using a soap dispensing system
I didn't like the fact that the batteries are so close to the base of the unit - I am wondering about corrosion etc.
2. What did your child(ren) think of the hand wash system? What did they like/dislike?
DS LOVES it. I have gone from 'I don't need to wash my hands because to 'I'm just going to wash my hands'
3. Did having the system make your child(ren) wash their hands more regularly and encourage more healthy habits, giving you peace of mind? If so, why? If not, why not?
It has definately made DS wash his hands more regularly, although I'm not sure if this is necessary. Yes to washing hands before meals/if absolutely manky/after using the loo etc, but he is now a bit obsessed by using the gadget. Which I don't think is necessary.
4. Similarly, do you think you washed your hands any more often, more thoroughly or more willingly as a result of having the system? If so, when did you find yourself doing this when you might not have done before - eg cooking, cleaning, gardening?
I didn't wash my hands more because I had a clever machine to help me so (I'm not going to win the draw because of my comments, am I?
)
Why would I wash may hands more often from having something that removes all of 2 seconds action of pumping/rubbing soap on my hands?
5. Where did you put your two hand wash systems? Did they fit well where you put them or not? Were they easy or difficult to set up and use? Did you prefer the white or stainless steel finish?
They both went into the bathroom.
They we're ridiculously easy to set up, once out of the unnecessary packaging
Personally I preferred the stainless steel packaging/unit.
6. If you were previously concerned about (or at least aware of) germs in your home, do you think that having the system has reassured you or not? Why?
I'm pretty sure most people are aware of 'germs in your home' I'm not sure how getting two fancy schmancy soap dispensers suddenly wakes people up to the horrors of germs
It's probably reassured me slightly that pandering to DS's absolute joy in gadgets there is now something that means he definately washes his hands after using the loo, instead of me rushing in to check...
7. What did you think of the antibacterial hand soap? Did you like the fragrance of it or not? How does it compare with other hand washes? Which fragrance did you like best?
I didn't like the cucumber one at first but it's grown on me. It did seem to dry DS's hands out quite a bit so he is only using the white one atm.
I would say they are very highly perfumed and prefer soaps to be a bit less flowery iyswim and the white one doesn't seem to clean as well.
Compared to other hand washes, I would say that the cucumber one fares as well as most other supermarket ones. The white one is a bit too moisturing and doesn't really feel like it's cleaning...
8. Overall, do you think that having the hand wash system has made life (at least a bit) easier or not? And why?
See, I don't really understand this question. Of all the things in life that could be made easier, that should be made easier through a widget or gadget or whatever, hand-washing really, really isn't at the top of my list.
I also, absolutely agree with all the posters who have mentioned the whole' creating the solution to a non problem'
So yes, the wonderful dispenser drops the soap into your manky, germy, meat covered hands....how the fark do you turn the tap on?
Does Dettol need to market the hand wash system with some kind of device so that you can turn the taps on without using your filthy hands?
9. If it came up in conversation, do you think you would recommend the Dettol No-Touch Hand Wash System to your friends with children? If so, why? If not, why not?
I have told many people I have been part of this trial - they've all been intersted to try it out whilst here and to hear my feedback...to summarise:
I wouldn't recommend it for the following reasons:
The packaging it came in was ridiculously wasteful
The unit takes 4 batteries (expense on top of the unit)
The battery compartment is in the bottom of the unit which could lead to easy corrosion (errr....design people.....?)
Way, way out of my price range. I spend £40 a week on shopping. There is NO way in hell I am spending £3 for a 250ml refill when I can get one for 50p
It's a NON problem ffs. Yes we have avoided the death tough on the pump, but can Dettol people alo please provide a guide to how the fark we turn the taps on with out infested hands without toughing them?
To be honest, I am more concerned with filthy raw meat hands touching the taps than the soap pump.
Reasons I would recommend:
Great way to get kids to wash their hands!
Market it as a soilution to getting children to handwash and you'll make way more many on it that you are atm
