NOW CLOSED Want to try a dishwasher for the first time? Or have one already that you'd like to replace? We're looking for 6 MNers to trial a new AEG dishwasher (with Finish tablets) and give video feedback

NewGirlHelenMumsnet · 16/03/2011 11:14

We have been asked by AEG and Finish to find six Mumsnetters who would be able and willing to have an AEG dishwasher (average selling price £600) installed in their home - and give feedback - both on Talk and on video - on what difference it's made having a dishwasher (or having a new one if they already had one).

Feedback will focus on overall impressions of the AEG dishwasher, what difference it makes to testers' day-to-day life, cleaning results, and how it compares (where appropriate) with an old dishwasher.

Naturally this product test isn't for everyone but AEG have this to say about it: "perhaps you've considered a dishwasher before but thought it's just a luxury, or that there's no space for one in your kitchen. AEG and Finish are confident your view might change if you try out an AEG dishwasher - the slimline 45cm dishwasher is the same size as a standard cupboard."

For anyone that already has a dishwasher, AEG are also looking for MNers that would consider replacing an old dishwasher. AEG say that their new dishwasher range "has enhanced features such as an extra-large load size, and [that] they are amongst the quietest, most efficient and unobtrusive on the market."

For those of you who may have environmental concerns about having a dishwasher, AEG have given us this statistic from a Waterwise survey - the average dishwasher uses between 12 and 16 litres (3-4.25 gallons) of water per load, while washing dishes by hand uses as much as 63 litres (16.5 gallons) per session. The new AEG Pro Clean uses just 9 litres of water.

There are a number of criteria for taking part in this project - to take part you must:

  • Live in the UK and be a home owner-occupier
  • Be willing to provide video feedback which may appear on MN and elsewhere (we will provide you with a video camera)
  • Be available at home for one weekday in the next 2-3 weeks (date to be arranged with AEG) for installation
  • Have space and plumbing for a dishwasher in your kitchen - click here for more information on what sort of site/space you need.

If you are selected to take part, the dishwasher will be delivered and installed free of charge (and your old dishwasher will be taken away if you want it to be). You will get to keep the new dishwasher once the product test is finished (average selling price for an AEG dishwasher is £600). You will also receive a two-month supply of Finish dishwasher tablets. All testers who give feedback - both on Mumsnet and by video - will receive a £40 voucher for Space NK. Please click here for more info about AEG dishwashers.

AEG are looking for specific types of families to test different types of dishwashers (e.g. larger families may need a larger load size, small kitchens may only have space for the slimline size) so in order to best match the dishwashers to testers, we need to ask quite a lot of questions, but most importantly we need to know that you have space for a dishwasher (if you don't have one already) so please make sure you answer the question about space when giving your details.

If you are interested in taking part please sign up here.

Thanks
MNHQ

Done.

Please let it be me. We just moved into this house and the dishwasher is broken. Our new baby is due in June so we are too skint to replace it!

noddyholder · 16/03/2011 20:28

Even though ours is making a funny noise I am too vain to go on camera as it adds 10 lbs so will have to get the marigolds out

Danthe4th · 16/03/2011 22:00

Nothing wrong with my dishwasher but I would love to try an AEG washer/dryer!!! please xx

fizzyliftinggas · 16/03/2011 22:29

Ooh, i would love to do it, we have no dishwasher currently, i fulfil all the criteria, my husband and i live here with our 2 1/2 yr old son, and we have twins on the way!
We have renovated our house and the kitchen is the only room left to do, a nice new dishwasher to test would spur us on to get the kitcen done before the arrival of our litter!!

FoJo · 16/03/2011 22:44

never had one, but would love to try one!

kylesmybaby · 17/03/2011 01:18

i really hope they pick testers randomly or who fit the criteria. please please please ive always wanted one. worse still i have a massive d/washer space in my kitchen waiting for one to be installed and cant afford one.

DaisySteiner · 17/03/2011 08:15

Me please! Extra-large load size would be briiiiliant!

MummyBerryJuice · 17/03/2011 08:49

I've just realised that I'm not going to get chosen because I live in the middle of nowhere. Sad. Bet all the testers will be in the South East.

What an awesome product to win test!

Have signed up. We have a new kitchen so have space for a dishwasher with all relevant plumbing etc. Baby on the way next month so this would be lovely. Not shy about videos either. Hopefully the middle of nowhere living is not something they take into account!

moonbells · 17/03/2011 11:18

I'm not entering because of the video and because I have a mouse-sized kitchen. I do however already have a dishwasher, bought years ago to stop dishwashing arguments. It's a tabletop (large microwave sized) and in the downstairs loo sitting on top of the washing machine (and sharing its outflow pipe!)

Shame AEG isn't doing a tabletop in this. They do have one! We just couldn't find space for anything else.

katz · 17/03/2011 11:57

done

poorbuthappy · 17/03/2011 12:51

this could rival the berghaus product test...

Ingles2 · 17/03/2011 13:08

Squeeeee...
I've done it.
MNHQ, I'm starting to think you've bugged our house...you must be listening in to our conversations as all your product test fit us perfectly.. Grin

Koumak · 17/03/2011 14:01

I really need one. You have no idea how much I need one. Right now. Please save us!

lou33 · 17/03/2011 14:17

ooh i am signing up for this, my dishwasher broke a couple of years ago and i havent been able to afford to replace it (single mum, 4 kids, not working), so sometimes i am washing up 5 times a day, depending on what i am baking!

Dunoon · 17/03/2011 14:47

Ooooh I have signed up now that renters can enter.
I can do videos too because I just bought some new eye shadow!

toomuchmonthatendofthemoney · 17/03/2011 15:08

omg how exciting is this! we have moved into a newbuild house with an exact space under the sink for a dishwasher but can't afford one yet (can barely afford lampshades and towel rails) so it would be utterly totally ace to win this!!!

uggmum · 17/03/2011 15:39

I wouldn't try an AEG free or otherwise. I have had mine for 6 years. It has broken down 3 times and I have just replaced it. It has had 2 previous expensive repairs (electrical parts) and it was cheaper to replace the machine than repair it a third time.

DillyDaydreaming · 17/03/2011 15:43

Shame - no real space apart from where the washing machine is and on balance that's my priority.

ChippingInMistressSteamMop · 17/03/2011 16:17

As an aside - it does make me laugh where they get their information from... I rinse dishes, wash them in soapy water and rinse them under hot water... and it still doesn't take me anything like 63 litres of water to do them by hand! Grin

Good luck to all of you!! (it would be fun if we could nominate those we think are most deserving!! Grin).

Ladygaggia · 17/03/2011 16:23

butterpieify you CAN enter it if you rent.
You just need the permission of the landlord

Indith · 17/03/2011 16:49

Well I think we could do it so I've entered. I assume that if we get picked and dh gives me a look that says "you daft eejit how do you think we'd plumba dishwasher in there?" then they would just mvoe on and pick someone else Grin

NewGirlHelenMumsnet · 17/03/2011 17:17
