Video webchat with Will Young - Would you like to interview him on Mumsnet's behalf?

JustineMumsnet · 19/10/2009 12:35

So there's been a bit of discussion about the limitations of our current webchat format and seeing as we've got some video capability now we thought we'd give a video variation a try to see how that works.

We're looking for a couple of mumsnetters to come along to a venue in West London and represent MN by putting forwards Mumsnetters' questions in a video chat with Will Young next Monday (26th October) between 12.30 and 1pm.

We'll be going along with a camera crew who will film the interview which will then be aired on the site at a later date (as an edited clip with a link to a full version).

As a special reward the interviewers will then be invited to attend Will's exclusive live album promotion show and after-show party the following evening (Tuesday). If you're interested let us know here and we'll put your name in the hat.

(ps we're hoping to persuade him to sing too.)

Having seen Will's video - I would just love to ask him what exactly was in that sandwich and where did he get the inspiration for the story line? Please put my name in his hat.....!

willonly · 20/10/2009 21:43

Caz10 · 20/10/2009 21:45

aaaah the video - I get it now!

meadowpipit · 20/10/2009 22:01

I'm an experienced mum and think its the best job in the world. the only problem is that once you get really good at it, its all over and you're redundant!

I could interview Will Young though.

Please put my name in the hat!

saphlovewill · 20/10/2009 22:01

Please please please please can i be entered thank you

Fififi · 21/10/2009 07:20

Yes, Caz10, I was meaning the video, where Will manages to portray the nausea, the food cravings, the emotion, the bad back, all the "Hopes and Fears" of being pregnant...and all the while looks far more alluring with a bump than I ever did!

I hope that whoever wins chooses to ask, what prompted the pregnancy angle of this latest vid ( and how he felt as a pregnant man with his strapped on bump), his thoughts on being a gay parent for real, his thoughts on bringing up a gay child, and he's a twin too so there's an angle there to explore.

So I think there's plenty of interest from a parenting angle. But he's more than a pregnant gay singer (!), as posters have pointed out he takes a keen interest in current affairs, with a Question Time appearance and a guest slot at the Oxford union speaking on celebrity culture, he's a film actor ( Mrs Henderson Presents), a stage actor, has upcoming TV roles in Skins and Miss Marple, is guest editor of Attitude this month, has sat on a sofa with Cheryl Cole on X factor, is judging a national short story competition, is an active supporter of many charities, including one which helps victims of domestic violence and recently supported (behind the scenes) a campaign to encourage teenagers to read ( now there's a topic I can relate to personally as a mum!) as well as having spoken out against knife crime and made a documentary about runaways.
Phew! Did I have a job as his PR in another life without knowing?

fififi

And PS OF COURSE his has to be a video webchat - have you seen how particularly gorgeous he's looking recently?! Pregnant or not!

PPS This is a great site by the way - was unbder the misconception that it was for babies...but I see the site has grown up with the kids and there's lots for parents with older children too.

bevbee · 21/10/2009 07:21

Please put my name forward - i would love the opportunity to ask Will lots of questions. Thank you.

Kingholm1 · 21/10/2009 07:38

I soooo would like to ask Will Young a question (that's if I can speak when I see him!). Please add my name to the list. Thankyou so much

Fififi · 21/10/2009 09:18

Actually, reading Justine's post again - do you want us all to suggest questions we would like asked by whoever is lucky enough to get chosen? You say that the interviewers will put forward Mumsnetters' questions. Should we post those here (I know some people have sone so already) or will there be a separate thread for this?

xx

RachelMumsnet · 21/10/2009 17:02

Just to keep you updated, we'll be announcing the interviewers on this thread tomorrow (Thursday) and sending emails out to those who have been successful. If you're wanting to ask Will a question, please post it on this thread.

ReadWriteEek · 21/10/2009 20:24

Please can I be considered to interview Mr Young if I promise to behave (mostly) impeccably? It's half term, so no work after all! Would also like to ask him if he's the type to give up his seat, like the guy in his new video. That bit did make me smile. I was wrong, obviously people still will give up seats for the pregnant these days, although clearly only pregnant men (wink) xx

Have a good one.

Kenco · 21/10/2009 23:21

I think I'm free on Monday.....
I would love to know whats in that sandwich from the video? And who on earth came up with the concept in the first place?!

davage · 21/10/2009 23:57

Hello,
I would love to be considered to interview will young!
I adore him, I have been a fan since I was 15. I am now 23! I have followed his career since the beginning and to interview him really would be a dream come true.

I studied media at college, and everyone would ask who would you most like to interview and my answer was always Will! He just seems like a genuinely nice guy who is insightful and educated! It would be great to ask him about his career, especially the new video as well as ask all the questions from the other members.

Words can't express how much I would love this opportunity to come my way!

Thanks

Sarah x
