Columnist and author Tony Parsons will be joining us here on Monday 6th October from 9-10pm for a live chat. Tony's sixth novel, 'My Favourite Wife' has just been published and is described by The Independent as 'a much bigger, more ambitious book' than million-selling 'Man and Boy'. If you can't make the chat you can post your questions in advance here.
Hope to see you here on Monday.

have any of you read nick hornby's silly book about a skateboarder?

SwedeLantern · 06/10/2008 16:02

Tony - Could you please get me a packet of Walker's Salt and Vinegar crisps (a big Eat packet if possible) and a copy of Closer? If they don't have Salt & Vinegar, I'll have Quavers. Wotsits stain my fingers especially when I'm sweating.

SwedeLantern · 06/10/2008 16:03

Sitandbitch is a much better name than Mumsnet. I can't being myself to say the word Mumsnet.

Carmenere · 06/10/2008 16:06

Agree SitandBitch is a better name than mumsnet. Might attract the right wrong sort though...

Monkeytrousers · 06/10/2008 16:06

On second thoughts Tony, can you make that a bag of buns for the fight that seems to be developing.

Monkeytrousers · 06/10/2008 16:08

Sit and bitch is the least we can do whilst we are exploited for out free/cheap labour!

Monkeytrousers · 06/10/2008 16:23

plus the fact that this is a pwrenting site and what is one of them with a big helping of hormones.

Tony, I;d advise you to check the phase the moon before doing this again

ScummyMummy · 06/10/2008 16:37

Hello, Tony.

Do you still prefer "exotic" women as opposed to "big brood mares with saggy tits"?

Will you be proud when your daughter grows up to read your views on her gender as evidenced by the following delightful snippet:

"Why should a woman never get drunk? Because being drunk makes you loud, obnoxious, sentimental and stupid. And ... women are like that when they are completely sober."

Carmenere · 06/10/2008 16:44

Tony, your new book is set in Shanghai where I believe you spent quite a bit of time researching (according to the Independent article I researched read today). How did you perceive the status of women in modern China today? Are attitudes changing as the economy grows? Is Shanghai somewhere you would be happy for your daughter to live?

Monkeytrousers · 06/10/2008 16:47

ohh, gloves off SM.

Monkeytrousers · 06/10/2008 16:58

But he is on record saying his opinions of women have changed over the years. Not sure about drunk women though....

Well he'll find out tonight!

ScummyMummy · 06/10/2008 17:27

How have your opinions of women changed over the years, Tony?

Do you agree with Jeremy Paxman that white men are discriminated against in the television industry?

Do you think Margaret Thatcher should have a state funeral?

ScummyMummy · 06/10/2008 17:38

Have you been affected by the credit crunch?

What is your daughter's favourite toy?

Is there anything you are consciously doing differently as a parent the 2nd time round?

Would you consider going on celebrity wife swap?

Do you agree that The Wire is the best programme ever made for TV?

What is your favourite charitable cause?

Did you vote for Ken or Boris?

Hi floflo.

Can I have some wine too, please Tony? I will try not to get any louder or more obnoxious and stupid than usual.

Carmenere · 06/10/2008 17:53

So are you a right-wing libertarian or a left-wing thatcherite today?
And have you been watching Russell Brand retracing Jack Kerouac's On the Road and if so, what do you think of it?

VersdeSociete · 06/10/2008 18:00

Who do you rate, bookwise? Other than Hornby obviously...
