Tony's sixth novel, 'My Favourite Wife' has just been published and is described by The Independent as 'a much bigger, more ambitious book' than million-selling 'Man and Boy'. I used to confuse the books Beety despite having read both, but then had a good enough reason to know lots about Nick Hornby iyswim, so managed to work it out

Is the title 'My favourite wife' a dig at other 'wives' or merely an endorsement of the 'favourite'?

Oh...you didn't write About a Boy? Oh. Sorry, I haven't read any of your books then. I haven't read About a Boy either but I've seen the film. You sound very nice. Not the brood mares and sober women stuff - that doesn't sound nice at all.

dear Beetoroot - no, that's a common mistake - Nick Hornby wrote About A Boy - the Hugh Grant film - and I wrote Man and Boy - the one without Hugh Grant. the funny thing is, they are very different books - Man and Boy is about a man weighed down with responsibility and family - parents, a child, an ex-wife - and About A Boy is about a man who is very single - and who sees single mothers (that is, women who do have families) as fair game and easy pickings. So - very different books. but it -Nick's book - is a really good book, and he is a lovely man. But he is not me and that is not my book and probably Hugh grant will never play a character based on me. Danny De Vito would be more like it. THANKS FOR YOUR QUESTION. TONY XXXOOO
