Hi all
We're delighted to announce that Dr Tanya Byron will be here for an online chat with Mumsnetters this Thursday, 6 September.

Tanya is a practicing consultant in child and adolescent mental health and has two children of her own. Her new parenting book Your Child, Your Way encourages you to really think about the kind of parent you are and the kind you want to be, but mostly to understand your child.

Tanya will be joining us for an hour on Thursday at 1 o'clock, so grab your sarnies, get your questions ready and join us then.

For those of you who have unavoidable lunchtime commitments, we'll let you post your questions in advance here.

Thanks, MNHQ

For the rest of you, we'll see you on the 6th.

Broad issue -
What do you think about the government supporting teachers and childcare workers to having more input with parents on their parenting?

You lot are embarrassing!

growingbagpuss · 06/09/2007 13:46

Dr T - how do I deal with a child who plays to his different parents? My DS - 2.7, is delightful most of the time when it is just me, and yet once my husband comes home, everythign takes at least twice as long, he gives in to his whims, he fusses, and messes about and with a new baby, drives me insane. DH won't acknowledge there is a prblem, and the mment I mention anything remotely pshychology based (I'm a learning disabilities nurse) he jsut waves his hands and says "psycho babble" - is there a way to positively manage different parenting styles in one household

lol, will we just all rush Jezza Vine's tomorrow with our spooky chanting? (am slightly creeping myself our with the toadying but she is good, isn't she?)

Tigana · 06/09/2007 13:46

Flame...was thinking that too...pfft weak fingers!!

Just answered a parenting support survey on YouGov and it asked who/what apart form family and friends I had got advice from....That'll be mumsnet then .

bobbiewickham · 06/09/2007 13:47

But at least you can post properly. Didn't mean to post that twice. Sorry.

VeniVidiVickiQV · 06/09/2007 13:47

Hunker would like to know what do you do with a 3.5yo boy who can wee in the potty at bathtime but, if he tries to wear pants, wets them almost instantly, then says "No, those pants are too wet for me. I think I'd like to wear a nappy, please" even when shown the fresh pants are utterly dry? He's got me baffled. And he's so POLITE about it!

Dr T.

How can we help mumsnetters who need to mature, some of them seem to regress while on MN, and type childish things over and over again

How come I never get any parenting support surveys on yougov?

Seriously though mumsnet is a saviour even told me when I was in labour with DD1.
