Hello,

We’re pleased to announce a webchat with the leader of the Labour Party Jeremy Corbyn on Tuesday 30 May at midday.

Jeremy has been MP for Islington North since 1983, and has been Labour leader since 2015, having been re-elected when Owen Smith stood against him in 2016. Labour’s manifesto for the election on June 8 proposes ‘a Brexit deal that puts our economy and living standards first’, tax rises for the top 5% of earners, the renationalisation of the railways, free school meals for all primary pupils, the abolition of university tuition fees, and a £250 billion investment fund for infrastructure and the economy.

Please do join the chat on Tuesday at midday, or if you can’t make it, leave a question here in advance. Please do share the webchat on social - the more, the merrier!

As always, please remember our webchat guidelines - one question each, follow-ups if there’s time and please keep it civil .

(As we approach the General Election we will endeavour to offer you a balanced diet of webchats with politicians from different parties. More announcements coming soon.)

Thanks
MNHQ

Thats a remarkably stupid question haidik

ChardonnaysPrettySister · 30/05/2017 19:36

It's lovely to see all the new posters though.
Do hope they will stick around.

Hefzi · 30/05/2017 19:48

Well, this floating voter is not quite as floating as before, and not because Mr Corbyn responded to my succinct questions on tax revenue and employment Grin

Labour, your figures don't add up, and you clearly hope we are all too stupid to notice. Some indeed may be - but this economist isn't, and now I'm out. (Actually, that's another programme Grin)

FlouncingInTheRain · 30/05/2017 19:52

What a let down. I've been waivering on who to vote for. Always been a labour voter.

It feels a bit just silly little women, we'll let them have 10 mins and they'll be happy.

I didn't expect an answer, but there were lots of really good questions i'd like to have seen answered and if we word count more words are on frivolity than policy.

I need to vote for a political party with policy and conviction.

IvorHughJarrs · 30/05/2017 20:03

I'm disappointed that the fluffy questions were answered and nothing of substance given to help us floating voters

VanillaSugar · 30/05/2017 20:03

Did anyone see him in The One Show? Did he say anything interesting?

Flumpernickel · 30/05/2017 20:04

Well vanilla, he brought Jam for the presenters.

FloweringDeranger · 30/05/2017 20:06

Regarding the cost of universal free childcare, for comparison Belgium allows all children to start at 'school' from 2.5 yrs, for free (it's attached to existing schools although formal schooling doesn't start at that age). Finland manages to pay for parents to have the option of staying at home until the kids are 3 and then go back to their jobs. Other countries manage these things. I'd like to see May on here next, and I'd ask her how other countries manage to pay for these 'dangerous and nonsensical' ideas if we apparently can't, despite having all this public money to give away to the already-rich. There's cheaper Uni education on the continent too.

Charmageddon · 30/05/2017 20:06

Ooh! Jam!

haidik · 30/05/2017 20:09

AngieC I'm a mum of 2 as well and I don't f**ing like that they can't see their dad everyday and weekends.Bec he works hard in City and never knows if they will keep him or kick him out as he didn't make enough money for them!!!its bloody stressful and this 🤡 Corbyn wants to tax them more!!!!

HoneyDragon · 30/05/2017 20:13

Did we get jam?

haidik · 30/05/2017 20:15

Moopointcows why the hell you think I should work for you to get everything for free???

LovelyBath77 · 30/05/2017 20:16

It would be nice if they thought more about the SAHMs looking after the two year olds (which don't need childcare at that stage) instead..

Flumpernickel · 30/05/2017 20:16

Jam

Jellykat · 30/05/2017 20:16

haidik sounds stressful.. trouble is if the Torys win, and the stress finally makes your DCs dad ill, there wont be much NHS left for him to see.. Private healthcare will be pricey for all 4 of you eh?

MooPointCowsOpinion · 30/05/2017 20:17

hadik that's a weird assumption to make, what benefits do you think I'm on exactly?

haidik · 30/05/2017 20:17

Rufus you know what is stupid that you all want free schools free healthcare free benefits free kids care free school meals???first of all start paying bloody taxes!!!!

cookerybookaddict · 30/05/2017 20:19

What a let down; although I was always doubtful that he would attempt to answer my question about what he'll do to cover the massive shortfall in tax receipts when the banks start moving their businesses to mainland Europe. They seem keen to stress that every policy has been costed, so I assume this has been taken into consideration, but it would still be helpful to have some clarification.

haidik · 30/05/2017 20:19

Jellykat you get what you pay for it people don't pay enough for NHS that's why is what it is.

ChardonnaysPrettySister · 30/05/2017 20:20

Haidik, Hmm.

Jellykat · 30/05/2017 20:20

OMG haidik , you really are everything that stinks about the Tory ideology!

haidik · 30/05/2017 20:20

On top of that he wants to tax doctors as most of them earn over 80000!!!whats going to happens next NHS will sink!!!!

Charmageddon · 30/05/2017 20:21

haidik Grin
Actual lol at you thinking us mummies don't pay tax!

You and Mr Corbyn are truly cut from the same cloth....

Ooh! Jam....

haidik · 30/05/2017 20:21

That what it is I'm afraid it real life!

JanetBrown2015 · 30/05/2017 20:22

The Tories have the 30 hours a week free child care for 3 - 4 years olds as well as Labour. Labour seems to be going down to age 2 but both seem to have very similar policies on this.

None of it means many nurseries will offer it as the state does not pay enough but at least it will as ever con the voters.
