Sunday 8 March will see the first ever Comic Relief Danceathon; a six-hour dance party and fundraising extravaganza, raising funds that will transform people's lives right here in the UK and across countries in Africa. The event will be hosted by Claudia Winkleman, whom we are delighted to welcome to MNHQ for a webchat.

Half woman, half fringe,* ** Claudia is a celebrated presenter of a range of programmes including two of the BBC's flagship arts programmes, The Arts Show on Radio 2 and Film 2015 as well as MN favourite Strictly Come Dancing. She is also a huge supporter of Comic Relief.

Have a question for Claudia? Then please join us for a live webchat on Friday 30 January from 1.00 to 2.00 pm. If you can’t join us live, then post your questions in advance on this thread.

Everything you need to know about Comic Relief's groove-tastic Danceathon
Claudia will be joined by a host of stars at Wembley on 8 March, dancing for six hours with over 12 of the nation’s best dance instructors. The style will change every 30 minutes, 70s to Swag via Funk, 80s Power, West End musicals and more. Read our breakdown and find out how you can take part here.

*We know we shouldn't comment on her appearance really, but the Winklefringe is a national treasure
**Plus it’s her own joke!

Did you just offer me buns and cookies?? So gonna hold you to that!! Lol. Although I'm running the London Marathon a month after the danceathon so I might regret it. See you at Wembley! Smile

@Showy

Justine, have you cracked open the Friday night gin early? Nobody understands what anybody else is saying but we're all happy. Definitely Friday night type shennanigans.

You know how in SCD they say that a certain dance suits a certain person, what dance would you say would be most likely to suit you?

ClaudiaWinkleman · 30/01/2015 13:32

@nobutreally

another fab here - SCD is a huge family event in our house, and I can not tell you how much we are loving you & Tess as a presenting team - I am also taking terms & conditions far more seriously. And, like others, we're delighted to hear that your daughter is recovering well, and wish her all the best.

I have a very practical, danceathon-based question: ds (who will be 11 in March) would love this - he lives to dance! But - 6 hours of dancing sounds a bit much for even him - will there be 'collapse in a corner' facilities available?

Hello. Thank you so so much for your lovely comments. Your son sounds brilliant. There will be totally a "collapse area" so he can have a rest whenever he wants. There will be mountains of snacks and beverages and he can come and have a little nap next to me. I will be napping.

Is there a sleepy dance? That one.

Hello. Claudia here. Thank you so so much for joining me here on Mumsnet. PLEASE be magnificent and sign up for the danceathon. It's going to be great fun and we can raise money. Find more information at rednoseday/danceathon MERCI

Showy · 30/01/2015 13:37

Ooh just read the actual danceathon info. I don't live near Londinium so can't come and stalk dance with the famous types. But I have a red button. It's better this way. Nobody will know if I give up and just do the twist/mum dance to everything.

GOOD GIRL. Find me. I'll be the one wearing too much eye make-up and stupid shoes.

FiftiesHousewife · 30/01/2015 13:40

Hi Claudia

After 'talent' shows (like SCD and Bake-off etc) what do you think will be the next big thing in Saturday night light ent water-cooler telly?

It feels like there's a new model for this sort of thing every ten years or so.

LadyAnansi · 30/01/2015 13:41

If you could be a contestant on either Strictly or Great British Bake Off, which would it be?

BananaHammock23 · 30/01/2015 13:42

Hi Claudia,

How did it feel to take over from Brucey? Did he do a ceremony where he physically put the power in your hands like Paddy on Take Me Out?

Also what would your spirit animal be and why?

Thank you and goodnight x

Hello

Who out of your sleb friends/colleagues is the best dancer and who (more importantly) is the worst?

I don't mean on SCD, I mean people you've seen grooving away in informal settings

I am terrible but enthusiastic

woeface · 30/01/2015 13:43

Argh am I still in time?
Claudia, I've got a v shallow S&B question for you. A while ago you were styled on strictly (I think) with a bit less eye maquillage and fringe. I thought you looked lovely - but I also love your 'you' look. What made you decide to go back to the latter?

Whoever knows that will be a very clever person. I have no idea. But something will come along and we'll all go "How did we live without that?"

SquirrelClips · 30/01/2015 13:45

Hi Claudia,

If you could be professionally trained in a form of dance (jive, tap etc) which would you go for?

Patrick Grant is a freakishly good dancer. It's alarming. Tess is great too. All the Strictly production team dance A LOT at the wrap. We all think we're amazing. Um....

Dinnerfourone · 30/01/2015 13:46

Hi Claudia,

Are you a Mumsnetter?

I'd actually not heard about the danceathon, I'll go and take a look now, will get my Zumba crazed friends involved. Grin

Mitchell50 · 30/01/2015 13:46

Hello Claudia!

Thanks so for coming on. Love you and SCD!

Have you got any little stories from backstage about the judges? I'm sure they get up to all sorts...particularly Bruno.

Xx

Can I officially say that I love squirrels. Argentine Tango. Hottest dance on earth.
