Sunday 8 March will see the first ever Comic Relief Danceathon; a six-hour dance party and fundraising extravaganza, raising funds that will transform people's lives right here in the UK and across countries in Africa. The event will be hosted by Claudia Winkleman, whom we are delighted to welcome to MNHQ for a webchat.

Half woman, half fringe,* ** Claudia is a celebrated presenter of a range of programmes including two of the BBC's flagship arts programmes, The Arts Show on Radio 2 and Film 2015 as well as MN favourite Strictly Come Dancing. She is also a huge supporter of Comic Relief.

Have a question for Claudia? Then please join us for a live webchat on Friday 30 January from 1.00 to 2.00 pm. If you can’t join us live, then post your questions in advance on this thread.

Everything you need to know about Comic Relief's groove-tastic Danceathon
Claudia will be joined by a host of stars at Wembley on 8 March, dancing for six hours with over 12 of the nation’s best dance instructors. The style will change every 30 minutes, 70s to Swag via Funk, 80s Power, West End musicals and more. Read our breakdown and find out how you can take part here.

*We know we shouldn't comment on her appearance really, but the Winklefringe is a national treasure
**Plus it’s her own joke!

Sizzlesthedog · 27/01/2015 19:37

Hi Claudia,

What's your favourite biscuit?

Sorry MNHQ I had to ask!

MontserratCaballe · 27/01/2015 22:38

Dear Claudia

Thank you for coming for the webchat. I love your work and think you are wonderful on Strictly.

I was very sorry to hear about your daughter's accident and hope she is now on the road to recovery. You have inspired many women in our office by taking time off from your job to be with her when she really needed you - in my profession, we are all in an environment when there is huge pressure to pitch up and perform whatever else is going on in one's life and the fact that you took a step back to be with your daughter when she was unwell gives us at work a refreshing perspective on the work / life balance. Flowers for you both.

A question - if you could pick one of the Strictly boys to be your partner, which one would you go for and why?

Keeeeeeeeeeeep dancing and all the best.

Blondieminx · 28/01/2015 00:33

Hello Claudia,

Thanks for doing a webchat! Lovely to have you on.

As well as echoing MontserratCaballe's comments about taking time off to be where you needed to be (and I hope your DD continues to make a good recovery), I just wanted to say that I absolutely loved you on SCD this year, a breath of fresh air and SO great to see an all-female presenting team on primetime.

My question: what was your favourite moment from this year's SCD series?

Keeeeeeep dancing!

girlsyearapart · 28/01/2015 06:45

I'm booked on to go to the danceathon. Ask Claudia which other celebs will be there? (I think Channing Tatum would be a good dancer..)Wink

OnlyLovers · 28/01/2015 09:30

Bollocks, I'll be at work on Friday!

Claudia, what happened backstage after you chucked that popcorn down Tess's cleavage on Strictly?

And who's the biggest laugh among the pro dancers and judges?

And very best wishes to your daughter and her recovery.

Fortysix · 28/01/2015 09:56

My soon to be 18 year old daughter lacks self confidence but is bright, sparky and quietly determined. I know she will do well but just needs to believe in herself a little bit more.

What advice would you give to an older teen?

TY

indecisiveithink · 28/01/2015 10:51

As a fellow fringer, I love it but find the maintenance a pain.

Do you ever trim it yourself and if so, how?

bialystockandbloom · 29/01/2015 10:51

Ooh Claudia I do love you! I hope your daughter is doing well - you had millions of people wishing her well after what must've been an awful ordeal on Halloween.

I've been to see SCD a couple of times (friend of production Wink) but have never seen you in the bar afterwards. You have missed out on my friends and I swooning and giggling over the likes of pasha and Aljaz like some drunken old hags cougars.

Anyway my question: who would you absolutely love to see as a celebrity contestant?

Showy · 29/01/2015 11:05

Oh Claudia's coming? Brilliant. She's fab.

Claudia, firstly, to reiterate what others said, I hope your daughter is continuing to recover well. I know I'm not the only woman here who shed a tear when you returned to Strictly. You showed such quiet dignity, how you didn't snot and sob all over the dance floor I don't know. I have loved you on Strictly. So, my question...

Talking of taking over from chaps doing prime time jobs, I love it when you stand in for Ken on the wireless. Do you have any plans to do more radio in the future? I love your Arts show but wonder if you would ever commit to more? If Radio 2 sacked Steve Wright had a prime time spot open up, would you do it? In my fantasy world you and Paddy Kielty make excellent co-hosts.

SauceForTheGander · 29/01/2015 11:23

I am in a minority as I prefer Sewing Bee to Strictly & GBBO and it's absolutely got nothing to do with Patrick Grant, oh no

Have Patrick & May got you sewing yet?

And is Patrick as stupidly film star from 1950s handsome in real life

MrsVamos · 29/01/2015 14:51

Hi Claudia

Wishing your DD well. xxx

Would you mind joining in with some of us from OYBBKS Weather threads, particularly those of us in areas who haven't had any yet, and doing a snow dance ?

Many thanks in advance. Smile

HattyMonkey · 29/01/2015 17:02

Hi Claudia

What is the film that you would choose if you could only watch 1 film for the rest of your life?

Linskibinski · 30/01/2015 00:52

Hi Claudia, Grin where do you go to dance like no-ones watching?
Secondly, what one talent do you wish you had but don't?
I second everything everyone else has said about your dd. I don't think there was a single parent around the country who didn't wish dd a swift recovery. Hugs from me and the linskibinski clan. Flowers

nobutreally · 30/01/2015 09:10

another fab here - SCD is a huge family event in our house, and I can not tell you how much we are loving you & Tess as a presenting team - I am also taking terms & conditions far more seriously. And, like others, we're delighted to hear that your daughter is recovering well, and wish her all the best.

I have a very practical, danceathon-based question: ds (who will be 11 in March) would love this - he lives to dance! But - 6 hours of dancing sounds a bit much for even him - will there be 'collapse in a corner' facilities available?

nobutreally · 30/01/2015 09:11

bugger, Fan, not fab. Not saying I'm not, but, y'know.

MummyBarrow · 30/01/2015 09:19

Afternoon Claudia. Just wanted to say on behalf of all the Team Honk bloggers involved, thanks so much for giving up your time to do this today.

If I had a question it would be, what's the one song that when it comes on the radio it is guaranteed to get you dancing whilst doing the washing up?

PS sorry about all the tweets with #GirlCrush on them whenever you come on the telly.

Sunnymeg · 30/01/2015 11:08

Brilliant to have Claudia on here! I would like to know whether your involvement in 'sewing bee' has inspired you to try sewing yourself

MummyBarrow · 30/01/2015 12:50

barges to the front so she can sit and stare at Claudia for an hour

ClaudiaWinkleman · 30/01/2015 12:58

Hello. I'm here. Let's converse. Danceathon.

ClaudiaWinkleman · 30/01/2015 12:58

@HattyMonkey

What is the film that you would choose if you could only watch 1 film for the rest of your life?

My Neighbour Totoro. Or ET.

MummyBarrow · 30/01/2015 12:59

Claudia Hello!

Thanks for doing this. How are you? Are you practising your dance moves for Wembley?

ClaudiaWinkleman · 30/01/2015 12:59

@SaucefortheGander

Have Patrick & May got you sewing yet?

Have tried. Became pretty obsessed with buttons and trim. Made a t-shirt for my son. It had 3 arms. Ahem.
