Sunday 8 March will see the first ever Comic Relief Danceathon; a six-hour dance party and fundraising extravaganza, raising funds that will transform people's lives right here in the UK and across countries in Africa. The event will be hosted by Claudia Winkleman, whom we are delighted to welcome to MNHQ for a webchat.

Half woman, half fringe,* ** Claudia is a celebrated presenter of a range of programmes including two of the BBC's flagship arts programmes, The Arts Show on Radio 2 and Film 2015 as well as MN favourite Strictly Come Dancing. She is also a huge supporter of Comic Relief.

Have a question for Claudia? Then please join us for a live webchat on Friday 30 January from 1.00 to 2.00 pm. If you can’t join us live, then post your questions in advance on this thread.

Everything you need to know about Comic Relief's groove-tastic Danceathon
Claudia will be joined by a host of stars at Wembley on 8 March, dancing for six hours with over 12 of the nation’s best dance instructors. The style will change every 30 minutes, 70s to Swag via Funk, 80s Power, West End musicals and more. Read our breakdown and find out how you can take part here.

*We know we shouldn't comment on her appearance really, but the Winklefringe is a national treasure
**Plus it’s her own joke!

Fabulous. Biscuit? I have 8 billion left over from Christmas.

ClaudiaWinkleman · 30/01/2015 13:00

@MummyBarrow

Are you practising your dance moves for Wembley?

I am TOTALLY rehearsing. Will be rubbish. But it will be great fun and hopefully we'll raise a lot for the brilliant Comic Relief.

ClaudiaWinkleman · 30/01/2015 13:01

@Cocolepew

Hi Claudia tell Patrick to grow his beard back, thanks (ps I love you)

agreed. he looks bonkers.

Showy · 30/01/2015 13:01

Sew up the third arm and put snacks in it. Half t-shirt, half lunchbox. A t-box If you will.

Did you hear the one about the man with five willies? His underwear fit like a glove.

CaurnieBred · 30/01/2015 13:03

Are you planning to dance in one of you pairs of those astonishingly high heels - you might get even more people to sponsor you if you do . . . :-)

ClaudiaWinkleman · 30/01/2015 13:04

@MummyBarrow

Afternoon Claudia. Just wanted to say on behalf of all the Team Honk bloggers involved, thanks so much for giving up your time to do this today.

If I had a question it would be, what's the one song that when it comes on the radio it is guaranteed to get you dancing whilst doing the washing up?

PS sorry about all the tweets with #GirlCrush on them whenever you come on the telly.

I love you. If anyone plays anything by Blondie I start dancing. Can't help it. Even when I'm in the car. It's genuinely hideous.

missyb83 · 30/01/2015 13:04

Hi Claudia. Fab to have you here. Smile My question is .... Are you ready for all the 'crazy' that Team Honk (including me) are going to bring to the Danceathon?

Can't wait to dance with you. Lol. X

ClaudiaWinkleman · 30/01/2015 13:05

@girlsyearapart

I'm booked on to go to the danceathon. Ask Claudia which other celebs will be there? (I think Channing Tatum would be a good dancer..)

this is a very very good idea. register at rednoseday/danceathon and you'll see

ClaudiaWinkleman · 30/01/2015 13:06

@Showy

Talking of taking over from chaps doing prime time jobs, I love it when you stand in for Ken on the wireless. Do you have any plans to do more radio in the future? I love your Arts show but wonder if you would ever commit to more? If Radio 2 sacked Steve Wright had a prime time spot open up, would you do it? In my fantasy world you and Paddy Kielty make excellent co-hosts.

You're incredibly kind. I absolutely love radio and my arts show in Radio 2 is almost my favourite job. Sign up for danceathon. Sorry to be bossy. Thank you.

I LOVE CRAZY. Are you coming? I am bringing buns and cookies. I bake. Badly. Shout for me and I'll come over.

Pennies · 30/01/2015 13:08

Claudia, why are your answers not matching the questions you're quoting. I'm confused.

ClaudiaWinkleman · 30/01/2015 13:09

@indecisiveithink

As a fellow fringer, I love it but find the maintenance a pain.

Do you ever trim it yourself and if so, how?

I quite like the maintenance. But then I don't have a garden or even a window box. So quite nice to tend to something...

PercyGherkin · 30/01/2015 13:10

Claudia - I love you. My DD lets me pretend to be you when she makes me play Strictly Come Dancing.

Question please: if you and Tess both want to wear (say) a dress of a certain colour, or similar style, who wins - how do you decide?

KateMumsnet · 30/01/2015 13:12

Hello all

Apologies - seems we have a slight tech issue which we're looking at now. Thanks for your patience!

JustineMumsnet · 30/01/2015 13:13

Hi Folks - as you may have noticed we're having a wee technical hitch with the quote facility. But Claudia will be back v soon!

CMOTDibbler · 30/01/2015 13:14

I think people would pay good money not to see me dance tbh.

ClaudiaWinkleman · 30/01/2015 13:16

Dear FortySix,

Hello. So sorry the wrong answer came up to your question. Your daughter sounds totally brilliant. I think being a late teen must feel very wobbly. So many hideous decisions to make and she must feel overwhelmed. I sat in my room a lot and read. Seemed to help a lot.

ClaudiaWinkleman · 30/01/2015 13:18

Dear Percy Gherkin,

Hello. Excellent question. Tess and I have never argued about clothes. Weird I know. But I would always want her to win. And I think she'd say the same. We try and sort of choose clothes that look good together. Sometimes they do. Hooray. Danceathon. Let's do it.

ClaudiaWinkleman · 30/01/2015 13:19

@Pennies

Me too.

I will pay a lot to see you dance. Do it.

MummyBarrow · 30/01/2015 13:21

For people that are not fit looks in mirror how hard is dancing for six hours going to be Claudia? Should we all be training? Or just thinking it is going to be like the best wedding reception ever and that gin will get us through it

ClaudiaWinkleman · 30/01/2015 13:23

@Blondieminx

Hello Claudia,

Thanks for doing a webchat! Lovely to have you on.

As well as echoing MontserratCaballe's comments about taking time off to be where you needed to be (and I hope your DD continues to make a good recovery), I just wanted to say that I absolutely loved you on SCD this year, a breath of fresh air and SO great to see an all-female presenting team on primetime.

My question: what was your favourite moment from this year's SCD series?

Keeeeeeep dancing!

Thank you so so much for your lovely message. The final genuinely blew my mind. The audience were on their feet practically throughout. I'd never experienced a Strictly final before. I kept on holding on to Tess shouting "THIS IS AMAZING"

Showy · 30/01/2015 13:23

Justine, have you cracked open the Friday night gin early? Nobody understands what anybody else is saying but we're all happy. Definitely Friday night type shennanigans.

ClaudiaWinkleman · 30/01/2015 13:24

@Sizzlesthedog

Hi Claudia,

What's your favourite biscuit?

Sorry MNHQ I had to ask!

anything covered in chocolate - I don't believe in a bare biscuit

ClaudiaWinkleman · 30/01/2015 13:25

@MummyBarrow

Emma (my boss person and great friend) did it last year in her house and she absolutely loved it. Her and some friends just thought they'd dance - jiving, line dancing, everything. They raised 7k and had the BEST time. That's what the danceathon is all about.
