Hello all,
Piers Morgan, former Editor of the Daily Mirror and News of the World, and now Executive Editor of First News, a weekly newspaper aimed at 9-12 year olds, is coming to Mumsnet for an online chat on Tuesday 10th October at 12.30pm. So make sure you make a note in your diary to log on and post a question. If you can't make the actual event do post your question in advance here. Whilst he can't promise to answer every one he'll do what he can (and we reckon he should be able to type quite fast being a journo and all that).
Best,
MNHQ

TwigTwoolett · 04/10/2006 19:22

Can you make sure he dons a suitable halloween name

codMorgan · 04/10/2006 19:47

realy we should all have headlines as names

Mateychops · 04/10/2006 20:55

Oooo, I can see the headlines now!

PhantomCAM · 04/10/2006 21:08

Ok a serious question for Piers:

I haven't seen First News but would be really interested in buying it for my 9 year old daughter as she has started to read our newspapers.

What made you decide to produce a paper for this age group?

nutcracker · 04/10/2006 21:10

I don't see the point really.

I don't like him.

Hmm will i get sued now LOL.

Mateychops · 04/10/2006 21:31

..or we could just ask him if Robbie Williams is gay.

SofiaAmes · 05/10/2006 06:13

Ok..here's a real question.
You have just appeared on America's Got Talent where you made a fairly high percentage of the contestants, many of whom were children, cry because of your (in my opinion) cruel comments. At the time you excused your behavior by saying that you were just being honest. Is your new newspaper going to embody this same tough love, tell it like it is approach? If so, how will this approach manifest itself in the paper and why do you think we should encourage our children to subscribe to this attitude? And if not, how do you justify the dichotomy between your public behavior towards children and the theme of a paper that you wish children and/or their parents to buy and read?

SofiaAmes · 05/10/2006 06:14

I know a woman who slept with robbie williams....but i would put money on bisexual.

CorpseBrideOfJohnCusack · 05/10/2006 06:22

apart from SofiaAme's very sensible question (and the others), this is the funniest thread I've read in AGES

I want to know about the whole CLarkson thing too. Who I'd shag over Piers anyday

(not over you understand, just an odd turn of speech...)

ScreamandYellowFeathers · 05/10/2006 07:49

Never seen or heard of first news before but having said that my children aren't old enought for things like that.

I'd like to know if the paper would take on a similar look or tone of these celeb magazines? More and more younger children seem to be reading them and after watching a programme the other day about anorexia, it seems that alot of the celebraties that appear in these magazines are one of the causes.
Would you agree with that?

TwigTwoolett · 05/10/2006 08:03

Serious Question

You've had an interesting professional life and been extremely succesful whilst keeping your private life extremely private. Do you actually have any children or even a significant relationship?

heavenis · 05/10/2006 08:12

I don't have a question yet.
Mr Morgan your really rather yummy.

TwigTwoolett · 05/10/2006 08:13

your really rather yummy what??

heavenis · 05/10/2006 08:24
Grin
seesee · 05/10/2006 08:25

I notice that the problems on the problem page have become less "teenage" since the first issue - intentional? I did think they were too old for the target age group in the first couple of issues. Hope it's kept this way!

Good paper - son enjoys v much.

moaningpaper · 05/10/2006 08:40

October 10th is World Mental Health Day.

Is this a coincidence? We should be told.

fridascruffs · 05/10/2006 21:46

I have no question but i've long wanted to say Thanks for defending asylum seekers and not jumping on the blame-them-for-everything bandwagon when you were editor of the DM.

WideWebWitch · 05/10/2006 21:51

He does have children Twig, 2 I think. And is divorced iirc. I really enjoyed The Insider.

QueenPeaHead · 05/10/2006 22:05

oh poo I'll miss it.

and for such an outrageously princessy reason that I don't think I can post it here for fear of getting ripped to pieces by the codmeister.... he he he

sorrell · 05/10/2006 22:12

AA Gill's wife is a nutter. I've worked with her. That is to say, I worked she swanned about barking at top volume into her mobile, 'Darling, yes, at 8pm, sweetie, yes Jeremy Clarkson and the usual crowd! Marvellous'.

bottomburp · 05/10/2006 22:40
