Si and Dave are joining us for a lunchtime webchat on Monday 17 September at 1pm.

A bit of background info: The Hairy Bikers met on the set of a Catherine Cookson drama Shock. Si was Assistant Director and Dave a makeup artist, specialising in prosthetics Shock Shock. On discovering their mutual love of motorbikes and food, The Hairy Bikers were born. Since then food has been their mission, producing several TV series and six books.

In August they embarked on a mission to change their lifestyle and lose two-and-a-half stone, while staying true to their love of great food. The Hairy Dieters gave themselves just three months to complete the mission and simultaneously produce a book, The Hairy Dieters: How to Love Food and Lose Weight which, they say is 'real food for real people, not skinny minnies'.

Kicking off at the end of September 2012, The Hairy Bikers are embarking on a whirlwind tour of the UK. If you send in a question to The Hairy Bikers or join in the webchat, you will be entered into a draw to win a pair of tickets to not only see the Hairy Bikers live at the nearest venue to you, but to join them on stage and be cooked for by them. For more details and tickets, please go to www.hairybikers.com/tour

Chat with the Hairy Bikers at 1pm on Monday, or post a question in advance.

@ditas

a question for Dave, have you ever met Delia?

Si says: Yes, we have. We got drunk with her at Norwich football club and she's a thoroughly good lady. She's totally lush.

@fallenempires

Hi Si and Dave!! Firstly congratulations to you both on your impressive weightloss. Does this now mean that you've both re-ordered those knitted shorts in a smaller size?Wink

some things don't shrink with a diet...... (anyway, it was a pair of socks, sadly!) Dave x

You're welcome to come and cook me cottage pie anytime!

Marmite on toast is a genius idea, why didn't i think of that? Thanks :-)

QueenFuri · 17/09/2012 13:18

I thought that said she was a total lush! Must learn to read properly.

Hi guys,

Cheeky question .... when on your travels, do you bike all the way between locations every time, or, (whisper) are there other forms of transport involved ?

Love all your shows and books - have never had a recipe go wrong from them which is more than can be said for some.

HopelessinNL · 17/09/2012 13:19

Hi
Are there an plans for a second Hairy Diet book? My partner and I have lost 6 kilos each and converted half the expats in Breda(Netherlands). However, we're rotating all the recipes now and would love some new tips..

Thanks

lubeybooby · 17/09/2012 13:19

Oh thank you Thanks I had a feeling curry might be the answer - brilliant :o

TheHairyBikers · 17/09/2012 13:19

@TeaTowelQueen

Hi Bikers! I get to watch your programmes because my hubby likes to see what you're riding (and he quite likes your recipes too of course...) What are your favourite bikes to ride on your adventures?

I love the KTMs we had on Bakation - we rode about 8,000 miles on them and I loved the bike as much at the end in Spain as at the start in Norway. At home I also have a Suzuki Hayabusa, a Moto Guzzi California and Si has a custom chopper (especially on a Friday) and an Aprillia Caponade. Dave

goingcuckoo · 17/09/2012 13:19

Which country have you enjoyed visiting the most on your travels?!

Hotcoffeeisamemory · 17/09/2012 13:20

Actually, I have thought of a question, if it's not too late.
My 10 year old son will not eat fruit or most veg. Any tips on getting him to eat any? No problems with my other 2 children, just my 10 year old.
Thank you.

90% of the time, we ride all the miles. occasionally schedules on't allow us to do the full journey but very rarely. Dave. x

Today is Meat Free Monday' so I'd love to know what your favourite vegetarian dish is?

@pumpkinsweetie

Which country has the most nicest foods and which country did you enjoy visiting the most? I love you programme and have really enjoyed baking your pie recipesSmile

Si says: The great thing about travel and food is that each individual country we visited has got something to offer and the culture of food within each nation is a great mirror of the character and personality of the any one given region or state, so it's really hard to say. Argentina was amazing because of the parisha (barbecue), the vege cuisine in India, the diversity and freshness of the food in Vietnam and Namibia was an interesting mix of cuisines.

Try making some real fruit jellies and the old trick of disguising veg in bolognaises and cottage pies etc. And if his teeth aren't falling out, don't worry too much. Dave x

@TeamEdward

What would be your "Last Request" meal? I think mine would have to be my mum's roast beef dinner...

Sushi! Dave. x

catsmother · 17/09/2012 13:23

Thanks Dave .... you've just settled a long standing argument for me .... which I won !

Dave - masala dosia - a rice leavened pancake from south India, stuffed with potato curry, served with spicy vegetable gravy and coconut chutney. Love it! Dave x

Hi I have a deaf/blind teenager who really wants to get into cooking, he has just started his GCSE years and has taken food tech. He would really like to specialise in Pastry (goog job really, he is a nightmare with a knife), what basics shoud he master, and what equipment should he never be without? Are there any tips you can give him?

Wer're thinking about it but meanwhile, in our new book out in Feb we have incorporated a lighter section for exactly that reason. We're blown away by the success of the diet book and we'd like more recipes for ourselves too! Dave x
