The Hairy Bikers - Live webchat, TODAY, Monday 17 September, 1-2pm

Si and Dave are joining us for a lunchtime webchat on Monday 17 September at 1pm.

A bit of background info: The Hairy Bikers met on the set of a Catherine Cookson drama Shock. Si was Assistant Director and Dave a makeup artist, specialising in prosthetics Shock Shock. On discovering their mutual love of motorbikes and food, The Hairy Bikers were born. Since then food has been their mission, producing several TV series and six books.

In August they embarked on a mission to change their lifestyle and lose two-and-a-half stone, while staying true to their love of great food. The Hairy Dieters gave themselves just three months to complete the mission and simultaneously produce a book, The Hairy Dieters: How to Love Food and Lose Weight which, they say is 'real food for real people, not skinny minnies'.

Kicking off at the end of September 2012, The Hairy Bikers are embarking on a whirlwind tour of the UK. If you send in a question to The Hairy Bikers or join in the webchat, you will be entered into a draw to win a pair of tickets to not only see the Hairy Bikers live at the nearest venue to you, but to join them on stage and be cooked for by them. For more details and tickets, please go to www.hairybikers.com/tour

Chat with the Hairy Bikers at 1pm on Monday, or post a question in advance.

Hi Si and Dave Smile

Love your shows and recipes!

My question is: what is your earliest memory of cooking, what were you making and was it edible?

Will look forward to see you in Birmingham Smile

My first memory of cooking was soup and sandwiches of the assembled throng of me mam and her mates,, delivered with a flourish on a hostess trolley not easy for a 6 year old to get through the door. All my family are really good cooks so I for me great creative food was always part of my growing up.

I have bad morning sickness at the moment and can't face lunch...what would you tempt me with?

best not go for kippers and custard then! I bet me and Si could make you feel better with a nice comforting cottage pie. Failing that, toast and marmite always hits the spot. Hope you feel better and it'll be worth it in the end, Dave x

@oopslateagain

Our family all love the Hairy Bikers, the tour comes here in March and we have tickets! Grin

I love that you make normal, everyday food that we can all serve our families without anyone giving it the Hmm look and asking "What's that?"

My question - what is your favourite "comfort food"?

Si says: Bacon sandwich and hot cup of tea.

Hi I am currently going through the pies in the Perfect Pies book haven't made one that I haven't liked yet! But my favourite has been the fresh lemon tart (DH it was the chicken, ham and leek) but what's your favourite?

Si says: Chicken and mushroom pie, steak and ale pie, corned beef and onion, pies are for life not just for the weekend. Brings a whole new meaning to something for the weekend.

Coming to see you on tour in Leamington end of October with my mum, never been to see a foodie show on stage before so just wondering what to expect?

It's not just food, it's a proper evening's entertainment for all the family, from tango dancing to escapology (honest!) and a lot of tales you've never heard before - AND we'll be cooking up a couple of tasty meals which some audience members can come up and sample. People have said they don't know what to expect but we always deliver and it's a mad night out. Look forward to seeing you. Dave x

chicken, ham and leek was my favourite too but the steak and kidney pudding is a blinder! On the pudding front, the chocolate tart takes some beating. Dave x

What ingredient have you discovered since you started your new slimmer selves that you hadn't used before?

Agave nectar! It's a natural sweetener in the health sections of supermarkets, it's low cal and doesn't taste of chemicals. great for smoothies.
also fat free yogurt as a marinade, works great and doesn't make you fat. Dave x

Big fan of your show; your enthusiasm and delight in cooking really shines through and I find it really inspiring!

An important question:- out of all the bikes you've ridden in the programmes, which has been your favourite?

Si says: The great thing about motorcycles is the wheels that are under your bum at any one given time are the best thing yyou ride buit we really enjoyed riding the KTMs in the Bakeation show.

Hello :o a question for both:

What's your favourite lower calorie meal? Was there something you cooked that left you astonished that it was a lower calorie or lower fat meal?

all of our curries. Never thought we could make meals to genuinely taste as good as the takeaways but we managed it. The korma is lovely for a softy curry - and the Jalfarezi is my favourite. There are no calories in flavour!
Go Asian for a flat belly.!
