Si and Dave are joining us for a lunchtime webchat on Monday 17 September at 1pm.

A bit of background info: The Hairy Bikers met on the set of a Catherine Cookson drama Shock. Si was Assistant Director and Dave a makeup artist, specialising in prosthetics Shock Shock. On discovering their mutual love of motorbikes and food, The Hairy Bikers were born. Since then food has been their mission, producing several TV series and six books.

In August they embarked on a mission to change their lifestyle and lose two-and-a-half stone, while staying true to their love of great food. The Hairy Dieters gave themselves just three months to complete the mission and simultaneously produce a book, The Hairy Dieters: How to Love Food and Lose Weight which, they say is 'real food for real people, not skinny minnies'.

Kicking off at the end of September 2012, The Hairy Bikers are embarking on a whirlwind tour of the UK. If you send in a question to The Hairy Bikers or join in the webchat, you will be entered into a draw to win a pair of tickets to not only see the Hairy Bikers live at the nearest venue to you, but to join them on stage and be cooked for by them. For more details and tickets, please go to www.hairybikers.com/tour

Chat with the Hairy Bikers at 1pm on Monday, or post a question in advance.

@catsmother

Hi guys,

Cheeky question .... when on your travels, do you bike all the way between locations every time, or, (whisper) are there other forms of transport involved ?

Love all your shows and books - have never had a recipe go wrong from them which is more than can be said for some.

Si says: 90% of the time we ride country to country. On Bakeation, we covered 8000 miles on the motorcycles and the other 10% is down to the logistics of moving a film crew from one place to another and sometimes it isn't possible in the time frame that's allocated to ride the bikes.

@northender

Hi. My son (11) and I have watched loads of your programmes together and really enjoyed them. What is your favourite area of the UK from a food perspective? I'm thinking of small producers/regional food rather than restaurants etc

Outside of our home counties, which we know and love, I would say lincolnshire and Carmarthanshire (I know I've spelt that wrong). They are amazing foodie destinations. Dave x

@dottyaboutstripes

I laughed so much when I came to see your tour that I had bellyache for hours Grin I absolutely loved your meals on wheels initiative, it was so heartwarming to watch - so I wanted to ask how all of that is going. Will there be a follow-up at any point?
glad you enjoyed the show. Yes Meals on Wheels was a show we were very proud of and it had a very positive effect. The improvements we instigated are still working and the Japanese Government even came over to see how we did it, so the benefits were far and wide. Dave x

@ditas

I'm a big fan from Sydney Australia, do you have any plans to visit Australia?

Si says: I have an enormous soft spot for Australia and Sydney and have had some fantastic dinners out with a plethora of fantastic ingredients and amazing chefs who have created a fantastic cuisine and reputation and I also love Womens weekly magazine.

TheHairyBikers · 17/09/2012 13:57

Abbey Crunch. Hard to find nowadays. Long gone but greatly missed. Kingy's a devil for a Garibaldi.

@LaVitaBellissima

Did you both just give up drinking? I find that's the only way I lose weight Smile

we did for a month to shift the pounds and then we counted the alcohol with the calories, like everything else. I still have a couple of nights off a week. Dave x

thebestisyettocome · 17/09/2012 14:00

Hello Si & dave, looking forward to seeing you both next month. If you could cook anywhere in the world where would it be and why? What would you cook?

At home in my own kitchen, where I scarcely am just now. I'd cook loads of seafood. Dave x
