Si and Dave are joining us for a lunchtime webchat on Monday 17 September at 1pm.

A bit of background info: The Hairy Bikers met on the set of a Catherine Cookson drama Shock. Si was Assistant Director and Dave a makeup artist, specialising in prosthetics Shock Shock. On discovering their mutual love of motorbikes and food, The Hairy Bikers were born. Since then food has been their mission, producing several TV series and six books.

In August they embarked on a mission to change their lifestyle and lose two-and-a-half stone, while staying true to their love of great food. The Hairy Dieters gave themselves just three months to complete the mission and simultaneously produce a book, The Hairy Dieters: How to Love Food and Lose Weight which, they say is 'real food for real people, not skinny minnies'.

Kicking off at the end of September 2012, The Hairy Bikers are embarking on a whirlwind tour of the UK. If you send in a question to The Hairy Bikers or join in the webchat, you will be entered into a draw to win a pair of tickets to not only see the Hairy Bikers live at the nearest venue to you, but to join them on stage and be cooked for by them. For more details and tickets, please go to www.hairybikers.com/tour

Chat with the Hairy Bikers at 1pm on Monday, or post a question in advance.

@CamperWidow

Hi guys!

Like most Moms I am a bit short on time and use my slow cooker alot, but it sometimes ends up looking like the same old sludge!
Got any tips or favourite recipes for this???

Thanks!

mutton works great in curries in a slow cooker. Use a variety of colourful veg too - like green and red peppers. Sometimes one pot wonders look a bit dull but make up for it in flavour. Green stuff added in at the last minute will spruce it up a treat. Dave x

@TodaysAGoodDay

Can I just say a very embarrassed 'sorry' please to Si and Dave. They came to Carlisle to book-sign at Xmas in 2010. I was the pathetic idiot who kept saying 'this is so exciting. Isn't this exciting? I'm so excited' while you both signed your lovely Xmas cook book for me. I am deeply Blush, I promise I won't do it again Grin. Can I just say you are both as lovely as you appear on TV, and very well done on the fantastic weight loss!

Si says: Thank you for your lovely words and support it means a great deal to us when people like you turn up to the events and make it a special day for Dave and I as well as everyone else. And never be embarrassed about your enthusiasm for life and the people around you. Love Si x

Ps, I was in a restaurant once having lunch with my mum (Pecks, in Congleton, as it happens) and you rocked up. You were being little darlings. Your producers on the other hand were being all, er, TV and Important. Wink

I looked on your site, you're in Derby, Mansfield, but it doesn't mention Nottingham. The Sheriff isn't going to be happy! Grin {runs off to check again} Ds has said you can come and have tea with us (he means supper).

TheHairyBikers · 17/09/2012 13:47

@TigerFeet

I work in food manufacturing (some of my colleagues have met you - I was off that day boo sob wail) - are you planning to launch any more of the Hairy Bikers label food? Si's Mam's Cottage Pie is a huge favourite in this house. I bet it isn't Hairy Dieters friendly though.

Funny enough, we're working on a few ideas now. And don't forget that although we have lost weight, we've always said there's no harm in a bit of what you love. Just keep a balance if you're fat. Our cottage pie is great. Dave x

EnglishGirlApproximately · 17/09/2012 13:47

Mansfield? I missed that! Nothing good ever happens here, how exciting!!!

@ChoccyJules

Hello Dave and Si,

My question is about white bread. We read that it has bad GI and therefore affects weight. My favourite 'meal' of all time is freshly baked crusty white bread with butter. My favourite comfort meal is white toast and butter. Am I doomed or is there a tasty, healthy alternative with that unashamedly 'white bread' taste? (I have three stones to lose :-( )

Just give it up until you've lost the weight and think of it as a sabbatical. Funny enough, we've lost the taste for butter. Stick to brown until you've shifted the pounds. That's the simple truth. Then you can enjoy a bit when you're slimmer - but be bet you won't want it then. Dave. x

@storminabuttercup

A few years ago we came to see the theatre tour in wakefield, it was brilliant. I also have loads of your books, I've never had a failure with any recipes.

But my question is, what would you recommend for a three course meal that's good hearty British grub. I'm planning a dinner party and would love to say 'oh si and dave' suggested this menu Blush

starter - scallops served on a ring of caramalised granny smith apple and black pudding. Main - crispy belly pork (unless you are dieting!) servied with mustard mash and spinach. Dessert - champagne jelly with english strawberries. As much British cheese as yoru pocket and diet can afford! Enjoy. Dave x
