Paul McKenna is joining us for a live webchat on Wednesday evening between 7 and 8pm. Paul will be chatting about his latest book, I Can Make you Happy which claims it can make you feel happier than you had ever imagined.

Paul will also be happy to answer questions on his 'I can Make you Thin' programme which he says has helped 71% of people who have tried it successfully lose weight and keep it off. He will be taking over the Hammersmith Apollo on Saturday 19th February to host his first Live Weight Loss Seminar.

Paul is Britain's best selling non-fiction author and is published in 30 languages as well as hosting television shows and seminars in hypnosis, Neuro Linguistic Programming and motivation.

Good idea Deafworm, please could MNHQ enter ppeatfruit in the ticket comp?

AnyFuleKno · 12/01/2011 19:43

Paul I'd be interested in knowing the answer to a question a few other people have asked as well - does it matter if you fall asleep during the CD? is there an optimal time to do it?

solo · 12/01/2011 19:43

Shock Wow! thank you! thank you very much!!

AnyFuleKno · 12/01/2011 19:44

whoops cross posted!

PaulMcKenna · 12/01/2011 19:44

@whomovedmychocolate

Riven I used PM's Sleep CD on DS when he was a year old and it worked Shock Grin

Although perhaps his voice was more calm than me yelling 'for the love of all that's holy go to sleeeeeep ' Grin

I'm very pleased to hear that this worked for your one year old.

I know this sounds bizarre but a friend of mine used the ICMYT - she lost weight but so did her cat who was listening at the same time! (Although it's probably a coincidence...)

AlwaysbeOpralFruitstome · 12/01/2011 19:44

I would like tickets please!

I did ICMYT for a while and had good results with it but fell off the wagon so to speak. On thinking about why, I realized that I have always thought of myself as 'huge' even when I was a size ten and all that has happened is that my body has caught up with my mind (I am now huge). So my question is, what are the best techniques to combat long term negative thinking? Thanks.

LoveBeingADaddysGirl · 12/01/2011 19:44

Can you help me to give birth without any pain?

whomovedmychocolate · 12/01/2011 19:44

Paul, delighted as I would be to hold your hand (and indeed am of course happy to come up on stage and vomit profusely at the sight of chocolate/hair, it would probably worry my husband (who you know in RL). Wink

PaulMcKenna · 12/01/2011 19:46

@Deafworm

thanks paul thats great news, i was a little concerned.

can i just also ask why is there the warning about epilepsy, my middle child has epilepsy and i worry about listening if she is around (sorry for being greedy last question honest!) thank you

Just check with your doctor to see how they feel about it.

PaulMcKenna · 12/01/2011 19:46

@GentleOtter

Dear Paul,

Do you offer private sessions for hypnosis etc?

Thank you.

No but I can recommend lots of folks who do if you have a specific need.

@offmyrocker

I read 'How to change your life in 7 days'. And I have to say that the sheer quantity of mind and visualization exercises that one is expected to do daily would be near impossible to complete. So by the middle of the book I became pretty despondent and didn't finish the book.

Is there some way for a busy mum to be able to change her life in 7 days, but not have to complete all of the exercises expected, and if so which ones are the important ones to do?

Actually you'd be better off just doing the techniques and don't bother with the narrative of the book - certainly use the CD - fall asleep to it at night, you'll feel better within a few days.

nevergoogledragonbutter · 12/01/2011 19:46

You're good at giving away free stuff.
Can you lend me a fiver? Grin

blinder · 12/01/2011 19:46

I would love to come to the seminar too big eyes.

I have baby weight to lose and chocolate weight too come to think of it...

GentleOtter · 12/01/2011 19:47

He fancies you whomovedmychocolate Envy

lililolo · 12/01/2011 19:47

Thank you Paul. I might try and get myself to the seminar too, so if my name could go in the hat, that would be great.

Brighterlife · 12/01/2011 19:47

where are you holding seminas?

bloomingnora · 12/01/2011 19:47

Paul, I successfully used ICMYT after having my second child, losing approximately 3 stone and really improving my relationship with food but since having my third child I feel like I am back to square one and that the switch that was flicked in my brain just won't budge this time. What can I do to successfully restart the programme?

PS Your deep voice is amazingly soothing Grin

HowToLookGoodGlaikit · 12/01/2011 19:47

Does your seminar go into more detail about self-sabotage than your book does? As thats a big problem for me.

PaulMcKenna · 12/01/2011 19:48

@shabbapinkfrog

I am not sure what your thoughts are on 'comfort eating' although I know many, many people don't think it exists.

Do you think that before an individual can loose weight they have to have their emotional problems 'fixed?'

I, personally think, that over eating is an addiction just the same as drugs, alcohol, nicotine etc. However individuals can get a great deal of support for these addictions and overweight people are mocked...thought of as stupid, smelly and lazy.

I would be very interested to know your opinions on comfort eating.

Thank you.

Emotional or comfort eating is probably the single biggest reason for people being overweight (apart from diets)

It's not always the case that people have to deal with their emotional problems before they have to lose weight, however its clearly better to treat the problem rather than the symptom.

You're right - many people these days use external means to change how they feel. Drinking, drug-taking, gambling, sex, shopping, television and the Western world's current drug of choice - food - is right up there.

AmpleBosom · 12/01/2011 19:48

I got my question in early! Sad

Tortoise · 12/01/2011 19:48

Hi Paul.
I have the ICMYT CD but i find the visualization bits hard to do, my mind seems to wander to other things not connected to the CD. Does this matter or is there any way to make visualising easier?

whomovedmychocolate · 12/01/2011 19:48

GentleOtter - no, he's just hoping I'm fat enough to hide behind at the seminar when the rest of you try and jump him Grin

GentleOtter · 12/01/2011 19:49

PaulMcKenna · 12/01/2011 19:49

@5inthebed

Hi Paul

I have just built up the confidence to ask my mam about my real dad, it took 11 years for me to do this. Following on from a long story, I now need to speak to my aunt to get in touch with my biological dad, but have zero confidence in doing this. I don't want to wait another 11 years! What can I do to overcome this?

Thanks x

Why don't you try my confidence book and CD? People have done all kinds of things they didn't think possible, I don't know if you were watching Lorraine Kelly this morning but I worked with a lady and she used the CD to help her get the confidence to go back to work after many years of not working.

PaulMcKenna · 12/01/2011 19:50

@AmpleBosom

Hi Paul,

i am overweight and know i'm an emotional eater but when i'm pregnant i always lose around 2-3 stone. It's like i suddenly can eat like normal people, i stop eating when i'm full and only eat when i'm hungry.

Can you explain why and tell me how to do this all the time. I've now got three children and can't keep having them just to lose weight! Blush

Yes indeed, this is strange! However, there could be any number of reasons for it, and I don't want to speculate, come to seminar as my guest and try the system.

Deafworm · 12/01/2011 19:51

amplebosom i am the same and icmyt is working for me, not a clue why though :o
