A plate has fallen down the back of the loo - how can I get it out?

And not just any plate - this is a plate painted by ME for dd's hair bands! I did it when she was painting a mug for dh- the man was so impressed he put it in the window. [preen]

It's annoying.

Now the cistern of the loo is built into a tongue and groove type wall affair, and can only be accessed from the top. The plate has fallen down, below the cistern, onto the floor below.

I can't reach it, nobody can reach it.

Any ideas?

Ahem...

Did you think of using 'how to talk to' on the plate. Also did you tell dh he had the plate retrieving smarts?

RustyDaviesBear · 28/10/2008 21:25

Your DD is never going to dare to leave a bobble anywhere but on the plate now is she?

"After what your father and I went through to rescue that plate, you could at least use it"

flippineck · 28/10/2008 21:26

I, am of course, overjoyed that the plate has been saved from the depths, but I am slightly disappointed too - it's been a real rollercoaster ride full of touching moments, heroic moments, comedy moments. Perfect. Has anyone got anything else they can lose in an obscure place?

flippineck · 28/10/2008 21:27

Oops, too slow typing. MillieMayhem - perfect, small children are vote winners.

covertmission · 28/10/2008 21:28

well I'm spent. I have nothing more, emotionally or physically to give to lost ceramics. I need to have a horlicks.

ahundredtimes · 28/10/2008 21:31

I just want to thank you all, for your dedication. It means a lot to know you cared, covert and everyone, your strength in this crisis has meant more to be than I can put into words.

lol Rusty - no she will have to use this plate. I think she might be having subversive thoughts about breaking that plate in the photo tbh.

DH isn't as jubilant as me

milliemayhem · 28/10/2008 21:38

Well best of luck for the future 100x. I thank you for giving me the most perfect excuse to not doing a thing tonight other than read this thread, and to all those that made me pee myself laughing at all the ideas. I bid you goodnight and all the best with the future of the plate. Wouldn't it be a shit if you popped it back on shelf and it slipped and smashed on loo seat! An evening in vain.

Ivegotaheadache · 28/10/2008 21:48

This was hilarious - call the Wonderpets to rescue the booble pate

cheerycherry · 28/10/2008 21:49

Phew...champagne corks popping in the north for you, what a happy happy ending!

ClaireDeLoon · 28/10/2008 22:03

Fantastic news about the plate - I nearly swooned when I read the bit about your DH manfully gripping your shoulders and promising to get the plate.

Littlefish · 28/10/2008 22:22

Thank goodness for that! I've just come back to check in on my way to bed.

Where is the photo though? Your profile is empty . I wanted to see the plate.

I'm off to bed now, so please post a special photo so I can see it in the morning.

I thank you.

[puts nose in air]

You're all cross now because you don't think it much of a plate or platter, as I'm proud to call it.

Hmm, yes, square. Sorry, yes, has corners and things.
