Is this positive?!

I’ve name changed for this. I am due in hospital tomorrow for a colposcopy because of periods being all over the place. Just decided to do a pregnancy test just to be on the safe side.
DH and I were told earlier this year it was very unlikely we could conceive due to my age and low AMH levels.

Was not expecting this. I’m not going nuts am I? Is this positive? Is there any way it could be wrong?

DH is at work & I can’t talk to him for a couple of hours. Am shaking.

Is this positive?!

Beautiful news, so happy for you ❤

Omgwhatthehell · 08/01/2022 14:29

Thanks @Nottogetapenny
I will keep this thread open Smile
I am hungrier now, which is good. I had a real lack of appetite a few weeks ago.
I’m also embracing a weekend nap!

I've only just found this thread and it brought a huge smile to my face on a day that's normally sad for me (I miscarried twins on this date 15 years ago). I'm so happy for you, especially reading your history.

Wishing you a smooth and healthy pregnancy! Good luck for the daring scan!

Congratulations, such a great Christmas present. It took us 4 years ttc and two full rounds of IVF to have our eldest. Then last year I had a surprise natural conception at 40, and I had twins (gave birth at 41). You’re definitely not past it at 41 and I’ve never been made to feel geriatric like everyone says. I’d also had a couple of bottles of fizz with a friend a few days before I had my positive and the babies are fine.

Will be following your updates. You do realise Mumsnet will follow this until birth?!

Omgwhatthehell · 08/01/2022 19:24

@Tillow4ever I’m sorry to hear that. I’m glad our news has made you smile Flowers

Thanks @TheMagicDeckchair My midwife was reassuring when I mentioned my age. She said it was really not a big deal and they have plenty of women my age and older having successful pregnancies.
She told me they recently cared for a 53 year old mother. Although that was with donor eggs. I don’t feel too ancient knowing that.

I don’t mind Mumsnet following this up until the kid is 18 to be honest! It feels nice having you all behind us. Thank you Smile

Congratulations! Just to say I've had 3 over-40 friends conceive naturally and go on to have healthy bouncing babies in the last year. All first timers as well. Just anecdotal I know but was so delighted for them, and for you Smile

Best thread ever! I await the baby news! Take care darling..xxx

Omgwhatthehell · 14/01/2022 10:52

I've thrown up this morning, which was unexpected. I thought the sickness was abating a bit. I've had nausea in previous weeks but it hadn't actually progressed to vomiting.

Has anyone else had sickness peak towards the end of week 11?
A quick Google search seems to indicate it can peak now so I'm hoping it's nothing to worry about.

northernsquirrel · 14/01/2022 11:22

This has been such a lovely thread to follow, congratulations!

Yes my nausea seemed to come and go but I remember being physically sick around that time. I think it properly improved around week 16

SaintVal · 14/01/2022 11:34

Congratulations OP!

I felt really sick from weeks 11 to 14 and was sick once at around that time. It did ease off but got replaced with acid reflux as my bump got bigger - make a note of omeprozole as it really helped! Not the info you asked for but it helped me so wanted to share!

Good luck with everything x

Omgwhatthehell · 14/01/2022 11:44

Thanks @northernsquirrel and @SaintVal

All the advice suggests that 'morning' sickness should ease off around the 11 week point so I was a bit surprised to feel my tummy turning over as I ate my morning All Bran! (constipation has been another lovely side effect).

Hopefully this was a one off.
Our scan is in a week now, so I'll let you all know how it goes.

Congratulations 🎉 what a lovely thread.

northernsquirrel · 14/01/2022 12:04

You're very welcome, it's a good sign! It sounds very unhealthy but McDonalds vanilla milkshakes were excellent at settling the sickness for me. Those and jacket potatoes were my main food intake those first few months when the nausea was bad!
