My child has a badge that sees ghosts?

Lighthearted!

DS 4, has a badge he calls “birdie friend.” I may post a photo later! It’s a badge with a bird on.

Birdie Friend seems to have the gift of the “sight!” “Birdie Friend says Bob and Rose are here mummy, they like to have tea with us. Bob and Rose are DH’s grandparents who died many years ago.

“Birdie Friend says the men who lived upstairs looked like you mummy when their faces burned off.” We used to live in a former military hospital and I had a sheet mash on my face! The ward upstairs had indeed been a burns/plastics ward!

“Mummy, Birdie Friend says the end is coming soon.”

😂😱😨

@AnuvvaMuvva I think I started the trend! I can’t see anything in them, but posted a pic so Dowser could ask questions for me. My second picture was out of curiosity as people said they could see things in the first and, well, I just wondered...

@Sagradafamiliar I've had the exploding head thing a few times but thankfully not for ages. It's not fun!
Someone mentioned the Hag...I definitely experience something similar during sleep paralysis.

IndigoSkye · 21/01/2020 20:25

@Sagradafamiliar I often had sleep paralysis, I read it is worse when you sleep on your back and I have found since I now try to sleep on my side it doesn't happen nearly as often. Might not help you but it is horrible and didn't want to not suggest it.

Hangingwithmygnomies · 21/01/2020 21:14

Oh OP you peaked to soon, just as I was enjoying the thread Grin

My won little tale of woo involves our dog. Our first dog had passed away and we rescued a new dog a few months later. She had been with us a few weeks when she started acting really oddly. Frequently staring at the top of the stairs and growling, looking like she was walking around something warily and refused to go in the garden - I mean literally stood at the back door refusing to move, even when I was in the garden with her ball encouraging her out. Freaked me out enough to take a video to show DH. I won a free "reading" with a local psychic/medium that was done live via her facebook page (my FB is locked down tightly and no mention of my new dog on it). The medium started calling my dog "he" so I started laughing to my very unwoo husband and said well she can't be that good as she's got that wrong but she immediately corrected herself and said "sorry, she" and then proceeded to tell me not to tell my dog off as she was growling at the ghost of my old dog who had come to visit us in spirit.

My Mum used to work at a hospital that had an abandoned ward upstairs and they frequently had to call security as they could hear people up there - whenever security came there was never anyone there 🤷‍♀️

So fake story about the haunted badge then? Grin

DoAllMeerkatsComeFromRussia · 21/01/2020 21:31

Thinking about angels/ guardian spirits etc I had a strange experience in my late teens. A teenager was killed in a very high profile case very close to where I grew up. His best friend subsequently committed suicide. Although neither of us knew the boy that was murdered, my sister was friends with the boy who had killed himself and I knew that boy's older brother quite well. One night in bed not long after (we shared a room and I was back from uni) my sister was talking about it all. She was about 16 at the time. She was very low, completely distressed and I felt utterly helpless. It was the first time I had no clue how to make her feel better and I was worried at the bleakness of her outlook. Then something really weird happened. It was like a gentle breeze but not cold and there was no draft and no window open. It started on one side of my face, by my ear, and it passed slowly across my face to the other side and then stopped. And with it came a complete calmness and an understanding that everything would be okay.
I brushed it off and told myself not to be daft. But I've never forgotten it. I've had a couple of other experiences too but both were at times of extreme difficulty (the night my dad died and during the birth of my second child) so I've always managed to tell myself I wasn't in my right mind! But who knows...?

BunnytheBlueWhale · 21/01/2020 21:33

Do any of you who are a bit woo know anything or have experienced anything in terms of signs like before a death or lights like bright white light or red light as good or bad omens... Knocks on the door... Asking for a friend

Howmanysleepsnow · 21/01/2020 22:00

I’ve had indications of death.
As a child I dreamed a pet died the night before it did. Happened 12 times, never had the dream and didn’t have anything happen, never had a pet die as a child without the dream. I’d wake after it, check, all pets ok only for one to die later.
As an adult I’ve seen a black cat in my house before a pet died (3 times so far, only in this house though)
I’ve seen lights and heard knocks but they haven’t been linked to anything for me (and aren’t necessarily woo either!)
Why do you ask? Is it a pattern you’ve noticed or a one-off thing?

TimeToGetMeBack · 21/01/2020 22:00

I've had a few experiences and had my nana visit in a dream with my dog and bunny when she died, it was so real and I still remember them going off as I woke. I've also had a horrible feeling of dread with a young boy in a high street that I've some how linked to a song that still gives me that horrible dread feeling 25 years later. I feel uneasy in my house too I can't put my finger on it, one of my children (I have four and it's not my youngest) will not be alone upstairs, but won't say why.

rooboo1 · 21/01/2020 22:01

Any other stuff happened with BF?

BunnytheBlueWhale · 21/01/2020 22:04

Hmm I don’t know why but I feel I shouldn’t talk about specifics. I saw something (that cannot be explained as something “normal”) which my grandma said was good and not to talk about.

I noticed a few things before my DD died last year, seeing red and loud knocks on the front door on two occasions. Only in the weeks or months leading up to and not after...

Have experienced other strange things too and seen a ghost at least once so maybe I am woo 😂

BunnytheBlueWhale · 21/01/2020 22:04

But interested to know others’ views as some people on here seemed tuned in to that sort of thing and it’s not something my friends would chime in on!

MAFIL · 21/01/2020 22:15

I used to see terrifying things in the wallpaper when I was a young child. My Mum told me that I was imagining things.
However, I have subsequently realised that 1970s purple and gold wallpaper is genuinely terrifying and I was receiving messages from my future self regarding the need for more restrained home decor in adulthood. You will be pleased to hear that I heeded those other wordly communications Wink

incognitomum · 21/01/2020 22:22

@Howmanysleepsnow i just saw a darkish dog with long shaggy hair. Very friendly though. Sensitive.

Anyone know the current situation with Birdie Friend? I'm confused.

Smellbellina · 22/01/2020 00:11

BF has hairy hands (amusing, but hairy none the less)

HannaYeah · 22/01/2020 03:37

@MAFIL I’m cracking up.

Also, I want to know what’s happening with BF.

forumdonkey · 22/01/2020 07:39

This reminded me of my DS when he was about 3 over twenty two years ago. He used to talk about when he used to be a grown up boy. He described he died in an accident which from his description was a fair ground ride, like a big wheel and it was because of some naughty boys. He also described living near a railway station and walking up steps to his house. I wrote it all down at the time so it's in a note book in the house somewhere. I must look for if now. It's only just occurred to me he has never been on a fair ground ride and has always refused to but it's only due to this thread I've remembered all this.

cheesenpickles · 22/01/2020 08:18

I try desperately to remain no-woo and when things happen I try and logically explain it away. The day my mum died I woke up at 3am to a noise that sounded like a plastic bag rustling in the wind outside and found a pigeon trying to get in, it then flew smack bang into the window and dropped dead on the floor below. My mum died about 7 hours later (she had been ill for a long time but we had expected her to live for a while yet).

Technology has gone a bit mad around me after she died. When my dad started seeing people again my boyfriend at the time (now DH) had a phone that randomly started playing a James Brown song at 2am that wasn't on his phone (it was mid 00s, so no Spotify etc) which included a nickname in it ... which in the context could be discerned as being disapproving to my dad's choice of woman.

I also had the lucid dream of my mum after I met my now dh. I remember hugging her and garbling how wonderful and lovely he is, and she basically told me to reign it in as I didn't want to scare him off Grin It was so real and I've not had a dream like it since - as much as I wanted one.

I've also got a weird vibe with a particular historic building in my city. I've always been obsessed with it but it's in ruins and doesn't get opened a lot. I managed to go there on a rare open day and got the most bizarre feeling, like someone was stood in the corner scowling at me. There was nobody there and it was the middle of the day. A couple of years later I got to return for a work thing on a ghost investigation (I have a strange job) and went in very open minded but slightly cynical. Not a lot happened during the whole thing except for a weird thing which I've tried to explain away logically but still leaves me feeling really ...odd. We were in a main part of the building and I looked up and saw a man with hair a bit like Issac Newton, face looked all waxy and weird and he was just staring at me scowling. A look of pure dread and hate. I calmly asked if other people could see him and it turned out it was where someone else was standing. As soon as the others said it his look changed back to a much taller, skinhead bloke with glasses and a video camera. I've put it down to anticipation, poor lighting and my mind playing tricks on me but I can still see the face as clearly as day. I've had no desire to return to the building.

Still consider myself a non-believer though and think my brain is just nuts.

Anyone know the current situation with Birdie Friend? I'm confused.

I think BF is a work of fiction.

@humblebumblebees The current situation is that it’s all absolute toilet and op has done a runner
